[REVIEW] OnePlus One + Avantek 20000 mAh Battery = AWESOME - ONE Accessories

Fed up waiting to buy the official OnePlus external battery I got this from Amazon.
The first time I saw the box, before actually opening it, I thought : “Wow, this thing is too bulky !!!”.

But after opening a very nice box, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the battery, it’s about the size of a laptop battery.
The Avantek 20000 mAh battery pack’s build is really impressive. Considering the high capacity and low price, it would be easy for one to assume that build quality is where Avantek would’ve cut corners, but that really isn’t the case.
The battery has a very nice gloss white finish, which really feels great in the hands. The whole unit looks very solid, premium and well built.
I have used the battery pack for a week almost every day. I’ve charged it overnight with the provided charger a week ago and have used it, as I already said for a week and the blue led indicator still shows I have 25% left of juice. I have used it to keep my charge on my phone (OnePlus One) and on my tablet (HP Touchpad). The power bank just works.
To use it, you only have to plug in a USB cable, one end to the power bank and the other to your phone/other device. Depending on how much juice is left in the power bank and the device that is to be charged, the power bank will start sending current to charge your connected 1 or 2 devices at the same time. I thought the battery will get warm while in use, but even with both my phone and my tablet connected the battery was still cold to the touch.
This 20000 mAh power bank costs less than £35, which I think it’s great value for money. For the price you’ll manage to keep your chosen device(s) powered for a week, and this is quite a feat, considering most devices don’t last a day.
Does anybody else have an Avantek 20000 mAh battery pack? How long have you been using it?

So how many times can you charge your OnePlus One with the power bank?

simple math

OPO battery is 3100mah, powerbank holds 20000, so just divide the one by the other.
Did you know you can even type equations into google and it will solve them for you?
Try it for yourself:
20000 / 3100

20000 / 3100 is the most ideal situation.
as i know, there will be energy consumption in the process of charging.
there should be a conversion rate.

I have used the power bank as I said to keep my OnePlus powered for a week, just plugged the phone when I was in the car or office . I didn't try charging from 0 though

Is the Power bank actually 20000? Not much powerbanks that say they 20000 mAh, really are 20000 mAh. They are usually somewhere around 15000 or 16000 mAh.

Might get myself one of these.. I've been waiting for a while now for OnePlus to release their power pack, but it doesn't seem like that is coming for a while, so in the mean time I might get one of these. It also seems pretty decent for the price.

I just got a vinsic 20000mAh power bank! I love the build quality of that thing, solid metal construction and a nice %light .. Its massive tho.. But I don't care

so the charging times would be 20000 x 90% / 3100
Their reviewer calcuated the rough charging times for popular devices
iPhone 6 = 1,810 = 11 Recharges
iPhone6+ = 2,915 = 6 Recharges
Galaxy S5 = 2,800 = 6 Recharges
iPad Air 2 = 7,340 = 2 Recharges

I'm not sure about the tests at the moment, but DO NOT BUY 4800 mAh battery for Uni, it's a crap! 3200 mah is the best of all batteries (perfect life about 4-5-6-7 days) .
4800 mAh life = original 1620 mAh battery life

I bought 4800 & 3200 batteries two years ago and i totally agree with Win_xp conclusions.
3800mAh
I have this one http://www.expansys.de/p.aspx?i=139188 since November 2005 and it is still the best you can get as it is just one pice.
I've just bought a 3150mAh battery from SuperGPS.co.uk and ran a simple test. Playing a 352x240, 30fps Divx, at low brightness, I reckon I'll see over four hours - exactly what I wanted!

I have all 3 batteries, too.....and Win_xp is absolutely right, the 4800mah is crap, compared to the 3200.
....guys, if you charge 4800 SLOWLY (10-15H) in uni through usb and not with the 3200 charger (or not with 3200charger+final 30% in uni, as I was doing before) you'll get much better result (not 3200, but similar....).
Probably you already know, but charging 4800mah batteries with the stand alone usb charger gives green light and stops charging as soon as they hit 3200mah.....
really? ive read on some other sites about the 4800 batts being good but it was up and down, my girlfriend ordered me one and its on its way and i was wondering what kind of battery life to expect and what is the right way to charge it, so this means that i can only charge it via usb? i just wanted a good high life battery as i have an old original 1600batt that wont last4 hrs at standby and 1 hour active, so how should i use it & charge it and out of who has this batt what kind of life should i expect?
6 houres of continuos use from full (100%) to flat (5%). Never charged on usb: i'll try tonight.
Where is a trusty site on USA to buy the original battery?

What is meant by this? I normally charge the 4800mah via USB with the battery in my qtek.
I have the same problem with the 4800mah battery; it does not contain 4800mah, that's for sure! So, I would like to know:

External Battery Pack - your pick?

Long story, but need to urgently place an order for an external battery pack. I personally need something that is compact and gives me at least three full charges on a single charge.
The hunt has led me too this one, has loads of positive reviews as well - New Trent ifuel IMP500 5000mAh External Battery pack.
Apologies if mistaken, but I don't think there's a thread dedicated to external battery packs... thought this one one could help a lot of people discuss their experience and also seek help on deciding the right one for them.
Coming back to my case, anyone here used the above model? Any other recommendations?
TIA.. Cheers!
I just bought this one when it was on sale for $49 over Memorial Day.

So far with stock S2 optus brand KE2 at 26+ hrs uptime after letting battery run down to 24% once and ~50% twice so far. 100% wifi enabled all the time with 5-6+hrs of Angry Birds hehe
@BarryH_GEG
The Zagg one for $49 sounds like one sweet deal... too bad I'm a few days late !!
@connectandroid
Checking out the energizer... btw, awesome battery performance u got there mate!
Have read several issues with these external power packs not charging the GS2... can anybody confirm successfully using this/any Trent product?
XP8000 ain't even half empty yet.. i probably estimate get a total around 40-50hrs with S2 battery + XP8000 on KE2 firmware.. alot longer on KE7 i suspect. Folks jumping from 8hrs to 24hrs with KE2 -> KE7. So 120-150hrs with S2 + XP8000 on KE7 ?? I hope so LOL
Yeah some external batteries aren't charging. The XP8000 to initiate the charging your press the check battery/on button (you can see in photo above to right of blue led status indicator).
I use a ZaggSparq and an XP18000. The XP18000 usually charges my laptop, but it works hella well in charging the SGSII.

The Proporta Turbocharger 3400 and 5000 are the best price/performance packs, and very small in size too. The 3400 will charge the device 1.5-2x, and the 5000 3-4x.

Fry's sells this 5000 mAh pack for $30. Of course for that price, you have to supply your own charge cable.
Interesting, I've got a no name brand 5000 mAh, and it works great!

The problem with the types of solar charger that you posted is that they charge slowly. And exposed to direct sunlight, it might heat up too much and damage the internal lipo.
IF you just need a power source, get a portable battery. They are cheaper and works better in the long run.
Correct about the solar panels, at least with current technology you just can't get enough energy from something this small to justify the added complexity/weight/price.
Unless you are away (as in no mains and no "car" power) for weeks they aren't worth it - and if you are away you still need a more serious panel.
Just get one of the external "power packs" and top them up quickly over a few hours when you get the chance.
As a side-note the battery in Note is pretty big already and I suspect the charging circuit from the phone is quite far from 90%+ efficiency. Bottom line you need to get a beefy external battery; I'd say 5000 mAh is bare minimum if you want to get you through the day if you use the phone much.

So the 10.000 Mah would be good, if i get the chance to get a refund, as the delivery is already 20 days, i am going to buy that one.
Regards, Tomaat
Also, this will ruin the battery, when it isnt recharged with the correct amount of electricity right? Just as when you charge your phone with a car-charger og usb from the computer..?
In my experience, if you want a fully charged lasting battery, you need to charge with electricity from the wall...!

I am not Baekdal, but I am a subscriber of his work. I just thought that it might have been interesting for the discussion mentioned in this thread. I also consider myself an environmentally conscience person, but as the article points out not everything that looks green is green .
The solar charger is much less environmentally friendly than the electrical grid, which means that it will not save you money nor will it save the environment.
I'm glad you've enjoyed it.

Review of NewTrent NT70T EasyPack 7000 mAh external battery w/pics!!!

This is a review of NewTrent NT70T EasyPack 7000 mAh external battery charger: http://www.newtrent.com/store/andro...nt70t-external-battery-ipad-battery-pack.html
Here is another great product I discovered that will definitely benefit Note 2 users who are sticking with a regular size battery and their favorite case and need backup power on the go. This particular unit has a very portable footprint and it's relative slim with dimension of 119mm x 74mm x 18mm (4.7" x 2.9" x 0.7"). It's also pretty lightweight for 7000 mAh capacity, at 6.8 oz (193 g). It's definitely very comfortable and pocket/purse friendly. As a matter of fact, this unit is actually intended to be used on the go where you don't even have to worry about power cables since it has built in full usb cable for Input charging (a fast 5V, 1A port) and also micro-usb cable for one of the Output charging ports (5V, 1A). In addition to 1A output port with micro-usb cable, it also provides 2 additional usb ports with 2.1A and 1A outputs. These got you covered for any smart phone or tablet, and can also charge two devices at the same time.
For convenience if input charging cable is not long enough for you, New Trent also included USB extension chord which I found to be a great bonus. No other chords or adapters were included with this product. The device itself is very slick with a footprint reminding me a small external hard drive. The bottom of this power bank is finished matte while the top has a shiny piano finish. On the top you also have a discretely placed power button and 4 led power meter indicators with cool green lights. Those 4 lights partition power reading into 25% increments.
Beside its portability and convenience of built in cables, the main attraction of this device is a whooping 7000 mAh capacity. This is some serious number!!! And NT70T has this 7000 mAh speced at 3.7V - the voltage of the actual lithium battery. To be honest, I was a little skeptical at first because external battery market is flooded with a lot of high capacity external batteries that have exaggerated labels. So right away I put this battery to the test. I had my Note 2 discharged down to 25% while NT70T was charged all the way to full (4 leds lit up). I used 2.1A output port for a faster charging and used my own usb-to-micro-usb cable. My Note 2 battery got charged up to 100% in under 3 hours. That was very impressive. After charging it up, I checked with NT70T and it still had 3 leds on!!!! Of course, 3 leds doesn't mean it's at full 75% charge, but rather between 50% and 75% charge. But still, very impressive considering we are talking about our GN2 with 3100 mAh stock battery. As a bonus, you can actually charge your phone while charging NT70T, pretty cool although not recommended by manufacturer since it can accelerate aging of the battery.
In my opinion this is one of the top small footprint portable external battery chargers that offers simultaneous charging of two devices at the same time with one port being 2.1A and others at 1A, and having a whooping true 7000 mAh capacity!!! A must have if you need a portable backup battery and don't wont to part with your current Note 2 case (to accommodate bulky extended battery). I definitely recommend NT70T EasyPack!
Now, here are some pictures for your enjoyment:

Btw, I have their new NT120C (http://www.newtrent.com/carbonpak.html) coming my way for review - looks cool! That one is a step up with a higher capacity at 12000 mAh, although no built-in cables to give you more flexibility. Should have it sometime next week, will post a review then.

Brother I got a similar equipment and is not as great as you pretend to be.
Sure the price is cool, you find it with 5 dollars on wholsales but I bet it doesn't have 12 Ah, if it has 10 Ah is good!
Second: the lights are not indicating the right amount of energy recharged.
I discharged completely, and started to charge with an 700mAh charger and the blue lights went on in a 2-3 hours interval and this is not possible.
Also is not possible as you say to recharge 12 Ah battery with 1Ah recommended, in just 3 hours as you mention.
This device needs like 10-12 hours with 1000mAh to make it full, and as I said the light indicators are not precise.
When I first got it, It had some power in it for test I supose, but it was showing all 4 leds lighten up. I powered my 33% Samsung Tab 2 7inch and started to charge till it reached 77% and then died!
I put it to recharge! In few complete cycles the life time will improve, but I don't think is able to recharge a 4Ah tablet 2 times! If is getting one time is perfect! Not with the tablet open, at least!
Another thing people should know is they should use their original cables, the connectors don't fit on my tab, and on an old Sony Ericsson phone. Both of them are the wrong size!
The design is nice, the price is good, but I don't think is a good battery pack!
Another thing people should know about it, is not multitasking. If you plug in a Phone and a Tablet in the same time, is dying fast, so.. you must choose!
I recommend this product for his low price! Is not so big either, but the cables and adaptors are junk.
Good luck guys!
Usually these batteries are of poor quality

But everything's made in China?! (j/k, I know what you mean.) Most of the stuff sold on the ecommerce b2c sites are of the Shanzhai variety).
But isn't that always the case, you get what you pay for.
When I bought my Note 8, they offered me a deal to buy the Samsung 9000mAh power bank for about 600HKD, which is about 85USD. Expensive yes when compared to the typical cheap China stuff, but then again, I don't relish the thought of battery acid exploding on my leg. Though some might. I guess.
