SD card not recognized, forced restart... - Verizon Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been stable on a class 10 SanDisk 128gb SD (64gb free) card in my gn4 for a couple months now, but yesterday I got this message in front of the lock screen to the effect of 'having trouble recognizing sd card, a restart is necessary' There was no getting around the message. Only after pulling the battery and SD, the issue went away.... For now.
Coincidentally, I installed sound cloud right before the issue arose...
Any ideas?

Check Sandisk forums people having issues loke crazy with 16gig and many other models and have been having to do warranty on it (i did) but have since got a Samsung pro card. You can talk in text chat with Sandisk if it happens more and do a RMA, all youll need is proof of purchase and picture of the numbers on the card. They will send you a email for a shipping label to mail it off. Its really easy. Check their forums first.

After pulling the battery a month ago everything has been quite with this issue until this morning....
I awoke to find the message again in the foreground of the pattern unlock screen.
"... Unable to detect sim card... Press Ok to restart... "
Something along those lines. After warm boot, message reappeared again before unlocking screen. So I pulled the battery and restarted.
Stable again.
Any ideas?

"No Sim Card in Phone" Error

Hi,
I bought HTC Desire a month ago, at first there was no problem. But 2 weeks ago, it started to throw the "no sim card in phone" error message. But the problem was usually fixed when i restarted the phone or turn the airplane mode on and off. But last week it started to throw the error continuously. I used another sim card, I bought a new sim card, yet they didn't solve the problem. I can use these cards in other phones without having any problems. If there were any simlocks in the phone, I wouldn't have used it at the beginning i guess. I reset the phone to the factory settings, still no help. Any ideas?

Dodgy SIM reader. If you've tried other SIM cards in it then it must be the handset. Take it back to point of purchase for a replacement if possible.

No SIM card error message

Have any Glide owners seen this? My wife's Glide was replaced at an AT&T warranty center recently (home, back, menu, and search buttons stopped working) and every once in a while I see the no network icon on the phone. I go to Mobile Networks and the no SIM card message popup appears. After several power off, take out/put back in SIM card, power up phone attempts the phone eventually sees the SIM card and all is well. I do notice that the SIM card does slide in/out very easily. I put in a small piece of paper to keep the SIM card snug, hopefully that will fix the problem. Anyone else experience this problem?

I had an issue with this before try to tape the sim card in place see if that helps

Tried the tape and still got the sim card error message after a day or so. I went to the AT&T warranty center and they put in a new SIM card. The phone works fine now and hopefully will stay that way. The tech put a note in our acct of the SIM card issue in case it pops up again.
Also, FYI.... Samsung Kies does NOT work when you have the SIM card error message (for backup/restore). Kies just spins the "Connecting..." status forever. I spent a few hours selecting the troubleshoot button that reinstalls the drivers, uninstall/reinstall Kies, installed Kies on another laptop, etc...nothing. The moment the SIM card issue was resolved, Kies connected just fine. The Glide also seems to like to enable USB debugging mode on its own, which disables the MTP connection that is required by Kies. fun.
It would be nice if Kies threw a "Cannot connect, no SIM card detected" message...
I have the same issue. My glide came refurbished and about once every two or three days I will notice that the phone is no longer recognizing the sim card. I have to take the battery out and take the sim card out. Then i have to put the sim card back in and then the battery and turn it on and its fine for another few days. I have had 3 different sim cards and it still does the same thing. AT&T just refuses to acknowledge that its not the sim card.

I have the same problem where ICS will just not read a sim card. I have tried multiple carriers SiM's and none of them work. Does anyone know how we can force Android to read and then request a SIM. It is not a problem of the SIM not being seated properly since it was working directly before the ICS upgrade and when I downgraded the first time it read my SIM without a problem.
I have not yet had any problem like that, I have had issues with data and wifi, but later found that it was the software I used before for battery management had an update that shut off those services and have fixed.
SIM card errors though, I only got 1 once but that is because the simcard holder in my phone seems loose and it wiggled out once and after that was nothing a gentle squeeze couldn't fix.
Samsung SGH-i927:
ICS Leak I927UCKL1 4.0.4 Stock
CWMR Touch v4.0.0.1
Keyboard fix
Superuser 3.2r3 ARM Optimized
LiteKernel v5.2
quick update, so far so good with the new SIM card. no sim card errors
spoke too soon! got the sim card error this evening. went to the AT&T warranty center again and got a replacement phone. this one better work.
SIM card error mesage again with phone #2. so far:
1) new phone, same SIM card, same battery
2) same phone, new SIM card, same battery
3) new phone, same SIM card, same battery
I'm starting to think this might be a cell tower issue since the other problem with this phone is that the phone would sometimes not ring or show any missed calls. maybe now it throws the SIM card error instead??
the mrs is going to go to the warranty center again to try to get a new battery and charger. we'll see.
final summary, new battery and still get the sim card error. AT&T is sending a Galaxy S2 skyrocket as a warranty replacement. My wife tried out swiftkey 3 and is willing to make the jump to a touchscreen keyboard.
Sorry to bump an old thread, BUT, a factory reset fixes the issue. My wife had this problem. It occurs if the SIM card is ejected by accident for any reason while the phone is on. The simcard does not lock in at all so I can only assume she bumped it just right. I got a full replacement phone from ATT, and while messing with it while on, the simcard fell out. After turning it off and putting the sim back in, the same problem occurred on a brand new replacement. A factory reset solved the issue.
I was googling about this and saw this thread. Figured I'd add my 2 cents, and what solved it, but I am still replacing the sim just in case.

Usb storage damaged message

I keep getting a usb storage damaged message. I have read that it is sometime an issue with the galaxy s3. Also sometimes when I first unlock the phone it says prepping sd card even though I did not remove it.
Also my SD card is a SanDisk 64gb class 10. I have read that this can be an issue with a certain crop of SanDisk.
Any tips? As of right now entitling works and if it's just messages popping up.

Have you tried using the SD card in other devices and on a computer?
I had a *similar* problem with an old MicroSD card in my original Galaxy phone and formatting the card seemed to work. I can't speak too much to your issue because the largest MicroSD card I've used is 32 and it's been flawless.
Yeah, verify across devices first. If not, try filing a claim with SanDisk if you purchased the sdcard only recently and it's already gone bye-bye.

Sd card damaged?

So I have had my s4 for 3 months now and am on my 3rd 32 gig sd card. I had used my first with my s3 with no problems for 8 months then it went bad after the first month in my s4. Bought another sandisk off amazon, and within a week started getting an error reformat sd card randomly untill the phone just wouldnt recognize it. Bought another lexar brand this time, and now after 3 weeks I am getting the same error randomly. I am wondering if anyone has ever seen this before, and if so how can I avoid going through more cards, or is it just my phone.
Thanks.

Someone just posted that there was a bad batch SanDisk. Contact SanDisk, if your card is in the bad batch they will send you a new one.

micro sd stopped working. need advice

Hey guys. So I have a 64gb sandisk ultra micro sd and a note 2. Have had me card in my phone for over a year. Got it may 2013 and stopped working a couple days ago. Would not mount on my phone and kept saying it was empty. I inserted it into my computer and had to format it for it to connect. Thankfully I could recover my photos that were not backed up with free software.
Now the problem. Everyone knows that there are problems with sandisk and samsung phones. Should I carry on using my card or will the problem persist?
I live in the UK and they want me to send the card to take it back to place of purchase which is amazon, but I bought it over a year ago so would they replace it?? or send it to the Czech Republic at my own cost?!?!?
