I think I have hard bricked my HTC One X, I had recently installed the new layout with twrp2811.BIG.img so I could install crDroid rom everything went well I formatted the partitions so it would change to the new layout and followed the threads instructions. I managed to install crDroid and that worked phone and then I loaded it back into recovery so I could transfer back all of my sdcard contents that started to go well and then windows kept popping up with device not responding or disconnected would you like to stop copying or skip file at this stage did not know how much of my files had been moved so I clicked skip file seemed to be ok and then windows crashed and then resarted the windows explorer so the copying was stopped, I went to restart recovery just re establish MTP connection and then recovery froze after i had swiped to reboot waited for a few and it was still frozen so I held power to force it shutdown. now my phone will not power on, led wont turn on to indicate charging ive plugged it into the wall no luck tried computer no luck, but windows detected that I had inserted device but popped up with unknown device and a ballon saying the device had malfuctioned or stopped working. I have ubuntu on my laptop so I booted it into that and ubuntu does not detect it. so I don't know what to do now. Is it completely dead? or is there a way to revive it? Ive tried leaving it plugged in for a few hours still no luck though.
please help!

When i enter recovery mode ADB will not list my phone, it lists it just fine however when my phone is on.. anyone have a idea?
I know it sounds stupid but make sure you have debugging mode on. Also when you mount your device (while its turned on) select the sync mode on your phone. I had to do that and then just play with it while loop is running pull the battery while usb is still plugged in and then power back on while holding volume down. I had to do that over and over and it eventually caught it.
I have debugging mode on, and while it is turned on and mounted as a disk drive ADB will recognize it. Ill try switching it to sync instead of disk drive.
Yeah it should recognize while in disk drive mode but it did not for me one time until I switched to sync. Could have just been a weird fluke but maybe not.
So you switched it to sync instead and while it was trying to sync you pull the battery out and hold the volumn down and the power button then put the battery back in? it will not catch it when i do this!
Not exactly. I switched it to sync and then let it do its thing for a minute. Then I powered off started running loop and powered back into recovery. Your computer shoukd make a little beep sound and the loop might hang up a bit when recovery loads. I then took the battery cover off and pulled the battery (loop still running and usb still plugged into phone) then hold vol down and put the battery back in. It will load into the boot loader from there you select recovery. I had to do that about a dozen times and finally it just caught on and showed my device in the loop as recovery.
Ill try this and post what happens thank you !
So far no luck, my computer will confirm that the phone is connected (by playing the sound confirmation) however it does not seem to be catching within windows or ADB
A thought occurred to me about this ... A couple people have said that it started working for them when they had a new/freshly installed microSD card in their phone. The card that comes pre-installed in the phone has doubletwist on it, including an autorun file. I noticed that until I removed these things from the memory card, Windows was identifying the card as "Media sync powered by doubletwist" or some crap like that. I took all that junk off and it started identifying it as just "Removable Disk." Now, I took off all this before I tried the rooting process, so I don't know if it would've caused any problems. Could it be that this has something to do with it? It doesn't seem likely to me, but I thought I'd mention it.
At any rate, try a new or freshly formatted SD card, see if that helps.
Restarting over and over again finally made it work. now have a fully rooted slide.
Just curious did you restart you phone or your computer over and over again?
I tried to root my phone but on the last step it said the internal memory ran out.
I Restarted the phone and it kept restarting at the boot screen. so I went to recovery mode and used a recovery file name (Esprimg.zip). After that My phone would only start if there was (A) no SD card when starting. or (B)the phone was connected to the computer but after I unplugged it from the computer it would reboot. Now with the phone on it will not pull up the SD card it does not even see it in normal operation but it does see it in boot mode(volume down + power). Also debugger mode will not work on my phone the box is checked but no icon appears at the top and when plugged into my computer it won't recognize the device.
Please help me even if just to get it to normal operation I've already done a hard factory reset.
76 reviews and I have not even got an idea I guess I'm alone on this problem.
I don't know lol, all I got was, have you tried a differend sd card or formatting the one you have? I am not sure what the essential things you need in there, but I would try to remove things till you only had the essentials. Back it up first of course.
So I been reading many posts on here about soft bricks..... still having issues. I installed the nitrogen 6.0 from here, it was workin great for a few months then the last update made it where it would shut down like using it to boom black screen and have to plug it in in order for it to turn on and it wouldn't last 3 mins off the charger. should have just fixed it then but i thought it was the battery even though it never got below 95% before it would just die. well It was on the charger all day and i went to go play my game and it was off, turned it on and well it was on the boot screen for about 10 mins before i forgot about it.... I boot it up again this time it was on the boot screen for about a hour since i left it home when i went and got a cast put on.... so i booted it into TWRP.... and was going to do a dirty install of the same os that was on there to fix the corrupted files...... it was wiped clean everything gone no system no install files no nothing.... so heres what i tried so far
downloded Sooner single adb interface but dont know how to use it or what commands to use (got the idea from here but no explanation: http://forums.androidcentral.com/op...rd-phone-keeps-showing-up-mtp-usb-device.html )
i tried these steps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2082084
I downloaded the Android SDK, dont know what to do with it found the command terminal but when i tried to get the phone to go to ADB mode it failed. comes up with a whole lot of unable to mount storage, data, unable to set bootloader, and no valid storage partions found.
I also tried this ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2082084 ) and the LGNPST fails because its unable to install it.
is there any other way or is the phone just dead?
So i was using my phone and decided to restart it after updating my adaway files but my phone never turned back on. The two press the power button screens did not show up either. I tried to uses the MSMdownload tool since i thought my phone was somehow bricked but that didnt work either, it just kept restarting the download process after everything was completed. my computer makes a sound when its connected and it connects correctly as a quallcomm 9008 device but even after all this nothing is working. has anyone experienced something like this or does anyone have any advice?
did you try to long press both power button and vol up ...you should feel a vibration...
maybe it's not turned of maybe it's error causing the screen to be off... also is there any heat?
Which method of the unbrick tool did you use? First or second? If the first, then maybe you should give the second also a try.
Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk
I've tried everything and I used th me second method yet nothing happened. I can see my phone get recognized by the computer and get listed on the MSN device list yet nothing happens after it finishes the process. After the green line shows up telling me that it's completed everything the process restarts writhing a few minutes unless I unplug it. No vibration no nothing the phone just died on me after I restarted it .
Try doing MSM on a different PC with all drivers installed , hope it helps
Try to repeat flashing again, there is no other way. Use method 2only. Extract tool again and try flash.
When I was used Xperia Z1, I bricked my phone with a soft brick. So I installed driver in my PC and flash Kernel though FASTBOOT(ADB) either it's not show Device in my PC (I show just "Unknown Device").
After that my phone can connect to my PC again (Now It shown C9303 or something that meant it know it's a phone).
So I can flash by Flashtools again. Soft brick is not scary as Hard brick, you'll find some way to bring it back easily.
Hope this help!
PS. Bricked Phone is WEAK in Battery, always connect it with charger.
Hey all,
My S4 Mini LTE got a bit water damaged. Was booting up fine for a while, but now is not getting past the splash screen (using Ressurection remix v. 6.0), just keeps splashing on and on, and I can't seem to successfully connect to my Mac to fix it.
TWRP is acting weird: not letting me wipe caches ('unable to mount storage') not showing any internal storage (0mb), only showing SD card at 15mb, and some buttons like reboot option are just freezing. It seems to be able to format (with some errors), but then acts the same way after.
On my Mac Fastboot is not showing any devices.
Similarly, I can't get OS X to recognize the phone with android file transfer.
The only thing that seems to recognize it is connected is Jodin, but it gives an error when trying to obtain my PIT!
edit: Heimdall ALMOST seemed to let me flash the kernel and recovery, but then gave some error right at the end.
Might be new motherboard time?!?!
Please help!
Motherboard change is easy
Yeah just replaced it... now power seems to turn off randomly in my pocket and mouthpiece doesnt work... eh probably just buy new phone
