I used kies to go back to stock and then rerooted. when I tried to install a tw kernel I got a soft brick. Unlike a custom ROM you can not just do a recovery back to before so I am afraid to try another kernel till I know.

I have a rooted AT&T galaxy s3, rooted with a custom kernel. I also have twrp and have been able to do a backup (nandroid backup) of the stock rom with stock kernel and stock rom with custom kernel. Sounds like you made sure the kernel specifically states TW, so not sure why you had this problem but I have used it...did you install custom recovery ?
Hi,
i have E988 india E98810E version, i have rooted and installed CWM via freegee.(only recovery installed no LG Security bypass)
I was able to flash roms based on CM or AOSP based but when i try flashing any Rom based on stock then recovery gives me a message of success within 3 seconds and no luck with flashing (Still at old Rom).
I tried with TWRP also but no luck any idea why is this happening ?

Have you tried flashing the stock rom from your stock back up? I have not been able to flash a stock based rom from cm or aosp. Give that a try
I am running OmniRom 4.4.4 on my Canadian variant T889v. This rom didn't come with a modem and after install maintained the stock modem.
Wanted to install the DN3 rom, but wanted to make sure the rom came without a modem. However, read that a modem needs to be flashed after the rom. Where can I find the stock modem (Baseband T889VVLUDNE7). Or is there a way to install the rom without the need to install the modem like the OmniRom?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2541860
I am relatively new to this process and frankly lucked out on the OmniRom. I did make a backup of stock rom from trwp before installing OmniRom. If I mess up the install on DN3 would I still be able to use restore to go back to stock?
update
Tried to install the rom using twrp. However, error right of the bat, saying it can't read the zip file. The zip file is not corrupted as far as I can tell.
I downloaded the file from the electron-team website for ROM_NOTE2LTE. (Sorry not allowed to post a link yet!)
I have DN3 installed right now and I love it. I come from a CM11 rom and before that the stock 4.3 TW with root. I didn't have to install anything extra and I've had almost no problems other than an occasional force close...

i also have t889v wind version and tried to flash the DN3 rom and had the same result as you, i got an error right of the bat saying the rom was not for my phone(or something like that). about the modem i believe DN3 does not come with a modem( it says so in the FAQ) so you should not have to worry about flashing modems with this rom. If there is anyone with a t889v that manage to get this rom on their phone it would be great if they could post what they did to get it to work.

I restored my phone to stock rom from the backup. Then I was able to install DN3. However, since I was just testing I did a dirty flash (no factory rest or data and cache wipe). I noticed the battery life was really bad and decided to do a clean install. After doing a factory reset in TWRP I tried installing it again and had the same issue as what I posted above.
Then I restored stock rom and tried clean install again and kept having the same issue as before. Was not able to install DN3 again!
I read somewhere on the forum that installing Agni kernel would likely solve the battery issue, but I can't test this until I can install the rom. I don't have a backup phone currently to mess around with testing to get the DN3 on. So if anyone has a fail proof method/steps of getting DN3 on please let me know.
Btw did anyone try the new T889V modem/rom (t889vvludnh2)?

So you were able to install DN3 straight from a CM11 rom?
Did you use TWRP, CWM or PhillzRecovery?
I tried it with TWRP, maybe that's is why I am having issues installing it.

I used CWM. I had problems installing the ROM initially. I had to try a few times to get it to flash. Ive been using this ROM for a little while now with very few issues.
Dual booting
Hello,
Has anyone tried dual booting with this rom? I'm currently running Liquid Smooth on my T-Mobile Note 2 and I would like to run both roms. Please advise.
Just a quick question. Which aGNi kernel are you guys using with the T889v?
Is either of the following kernels safe to use with T889v, on either CM11 or Omni rom?
- PSN_AGNi_pureSTOCK-v4.3.3_R3_N7105_4.4.x_AROMA
- PSN_pureCM_11-12_ANYROM-AROMA-v2.9.1_R2_N7105_OC

Hi i also had problems with latestzip. So i unstalled the one zip before the latest zip and it worked on my T889. Try that zip , it clmes with a final update.zip that you flash after the dn3 v5. Also there might be a specific build.prop for your phone thst would recomend. Sorry dont have specific names as im on my way to work.
Also both kernels you are didplaying are not for TouchWiz rom look for Agni kernal in the N7105 dev thrad. Ill add link as an edit before I loose all this. Also I wouldre comend installing will all default options first and no sound modification. Then dirty flash to customize and wait 10 minutes after first boot. Reboot and then set up you phone.

AGNI KERNEL LINK FOR TW sorry can past the link from dolfin browser it does a copy but not a past.
Correction use the first kernel the second one is nof non TW roms like slimkat, CW etc.
I'm currently running the stock rom 4.4.2 with the KT747 kernel. When I first flashed this kernel (I came from 4.4.4 aosp), wifi did not work and I had to flash the KT747 kernel to get it to work, supposedly I think because my modem version was too old? I'm not entirely sure, but it fixed the issue. Baseband and bootloader versions are -NJ1. PDA and CSC versions are -NE4.
I want to switch to another TW based 4.4.2 rom because I like the stability and reliability of the stock TW roms (everything actually works ) but I get some debloat from the custom roms. It says I need to have the 4.3 or 4.4 bootloaders and modems to install the rom. Will wiping my device wipe off my current bootloader and modem version, thus not allowing me to install the rom? I'm not sure if the KT747 kernel is just giving me those up to date versions through the kernel, and thus they will go away when the kernel is gone.
Can anyone who knows what they're doing help me out? I figure I may as well just update my bootloaders if they aren't already so I can just effortlessly go to Lollipop eventually.
Any help is appreciated! Just want some advice here so I don't screw up my device. See my signature
If you are wiping your ROM from recovery, the modem and bootloader will not be wiped.
If you want to run another TW-based ROM, just make sure that the ROM does not try to change the bootloader or modem.

Thank you; I appreciate the reply. So assuming the stock rom's wifi would not work due to an old modem version and that the KT kernel actually updated it, can I safely change kernels on my current rom? Will the NJ1 bootloader and modem change?
Or, was it perhaps not working because NJ1 is what I already had beforehand and the kernel just made NJ1 compatible with 4.4.2?
Just trying to get a feel of why the kernel fixed the wifi so I will know that it is or is not safe to flash other roms and (eventually) move to Lollipop, which requires the versions that my device is reporting it already has.
Thanks again.
The kernel is the kernel and a kernel change will and should not change the installed modem.
Sounds like the kernel prior to the kt747 kernel was not compatible with the modem.
Whenever I install a custom rom using safestrap it works but the only problem I am getiing is baseband unknown all custom roms Miui, CM, Slim kat and other can some one tell me how to fix this problem
Sideload amazon stock rom again. It contains baseband image.
didn't work
