I have a serious problem: my daughter start an update on the rooted tablet (FE170CG). Ofcourse, the tablet stuck. Well, I didn't panic. I've downloaded firmware from ASUS website, and start to flash it with fastboot. But nothing worked. Tried several firmwares, also from producer site, still nothing. After lots of desperate tryies I managed to flash something, but instead of k012 I discovered it waS a k017 image. After that I couldn't use nothing. The Droidboot starts, or in normal boot it loads the ASUS logo ant then stucks there. Can I test the consistency of partitions somehow, or the consistency of the data inside those partitions? Is it possible to be something erased in one of those partitions? Can anybody point me to how to get a diagnose to be able to guess what's crushed?
I can only use the fastboot. Nothing else worked. I couldn't use ADB, for instance, in windows. Also, in Linux I cannot connect the tablet. It shows in lsusb list, but thats all. Don't shows in blkid devices (mounted or not).. How can I solve this very tricky situation?
Same here
Same here. My ASUS FE170CG bricked while updating latest firmware (WW_V11.2.3.33 For WW SKU) software.
Need some help
If you can use fastboot, flash boot.img fastboot.img and splashscreen.img from firmware zip file, then copy firmware zip file to root of sdcard and name it k012_sdupdate.zip, then in droidboot mode run recovery.

That didnt work for me. But after a bit of testing i managed to fix my lil' sisters fe170cg after it got bricked when she tried to ota update to lollipop while rooted. heres the method:
NOTE: MAKE SURE YOUR DEVICE IS MODEL NO. K012 FE170CG
BEFORE YOU CONTINUE
1. Download ADB and Fastboot : [TOOL] [WINDOWS] ADB, Fastboot and Drivers - 15 seconds ADB Installer v1.4.2
2. Install ADB drivers : Intel Android USB Drivers
3.Download Previous Firmware from Asus support site.
4. Download this for temporary tethered cwm
ACTUAL PROCEDURE
1. copy the firmware (.zip) to an external sd card
2. Extract downloaded recovery.rar
3. Put your device in Droidboot mode by holding both power button and vol down while device is turned off.
4. Connect device to computer. Open cmd and type "fastboot device" to verify.
5.Open launcher.bat in the extracted folder.
-Type ACCEPT
-Type T2
6. Some stuff will appear after that. Dont do anything. In a few moments CWM will load.
7.Next part is pretty self explanatory. use volume keys to go up and down and press power to select option. choose install zip. in the next menu choose install from external sd card*. Choose the zip file you downloaded from Asus website, if installation fails download another version from the support website.

Update: SPFlashTool flashable Marshmallow firmware file is now available. Build MOB30N.
OTA links are already there on xda, but here was no specific thread for Canvas A1 so i am writing one
Google has released the OTA files for Canvas A1 and other android one devices.
NOTE: To update your phone using OTA files your phone should be running Stock lollipop or atleast stock recovery. (Not applicable if using sp flash tool)
If you are running a custom rom or custom recovery then before proceeding to this guide you must revert back to stock lollipop using sp flash tool
Pre-requisites: 1.Your phone should be atleast 60% charged
2. Back up all important data (just to be safe)
Canvas A1 users can easily update their device by following method(s)
Method 1 (the usual method):
Step 1: Download the official Marshmallow OTA file from here https://android.googleapis.com/packages/ota/google_aq4501sprout_aq4501/dc78fbefaf5f69cc4754751251d9ece094bc96e6.signed-sprout-mmx-MRA58M-from-LMY48M.zip
Step 2: Connect your smartphone to computer using the original USB cable.
Step 3: Copy and paste the OTA zip files to phone's storage and make a note of its location.
Step 4: Boot your smartphone into recovery mode or stock recovery: Disconnect the phone from computer, and then turn it off.
Press and hold both the Volume and the Power buttons until the display turns on and enters bootloader mode.
Hit the volume button to open the Recovery menu and then press the power button to select it. Your phone should now boot into recovery mode.
At this moment, a dead Android with an exclamation mark should appear on the screen. Now press and hold Power button for three seconds and then hit the Volume up button once to progress into recovery mode.
Step 5: Return to the main recovery screen and choose 'install update from sdcard'.
Step 6: Then select the OTA zip file using the volume buttons for navigation and the Power button to select any file or open a folder. After you select the zip file, confirm its installation and the update should start installing on your device.
Step 7: Once the installation is done, return to main screen of recovery. Choose Reboot system now to restart the phone and boot into the newly installed Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA update from Google.
Voila!! You are running official Android 6.0 :laugh:
Method 2 (using sp flash tool, best method)
This method can be used even if you are running a custom rom. You can also use this method to unbrick Micromax Canvas A1.
Pre-requisites: Windows computer, USB cable, and most important "patience".
Step 1:
a) Download micromax driver.{thanks to @mohsin.r.munshi}
Extract its content, you will find an .exe file inside a folder "driver9401". Disable your antivirus and run the .exe file as administrator. (If you are using 64-bit windows, you will need to "disable driver signature enforcement". Google it)
b) Download SP Flash tool from my mediafire or from its official website. Extract it to any folder
c) Download SPflashTool flashable Marshmallow firmware . Extract the zip file. You will see the following files in it (similar not exact)
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Note the location of MT6582_Android_scatter.txt file
Step2: Goto the folder where you have extracted sp flash tool. Run flash_tool.exe
Step 3: In sp flash tool, Click on "scatter loading". Then locate and select "MT6582_Android_scatter.txt". SP Flash tool will load all firmware files from the folder where you have extracted the OTA files.
Step 4: Power off your phone. And REMOVE the battery. Now on SP flash tool, click on "Download".
(refer to screenshots given on this website. Ignore the steps given on this website, just refer screenshots)
Step 5: (pay attention to every word) Connect USB cable to your phone only. Then Press and HOLD volume down button and insert the other end of USB cable to your pc. Flashing will start automatically. Wait till you see "OK" message on your pc.
Step 6: Once you see "OK" message, disconnect your phone and reinsert your phone's battery. Turn ON your phone. The first boot will take longer than usual.
Congo! You just updated/unbricked your Micromax Canvas A1.

flash official lollipop rom using method 2 above
Hi.. I'm on CM13 now. But I don't have mobile data for some reason. So I want to flash stock ROM. But last time I tried flashing stock, it wiped my IMEI numbers. Luckily my warranty status was somehow reset. So I had to get the phone replaced. Does this have a chance to cause the same problem (wipe my IMEI numbers)??

In that case, i would suggest you to take a backup of your imei data using MTK Droid tool. Also copy your nvram folder straight from your phone to as many external storages as you can. Nvram (imei data) somehow becomes unrecognised after downgrading some phones.
Solution:
1. Use MTK droid tool to restore it from a previous backup.
or
2. locate nvram folder ( /data/nvram, correct me if i m wrong) DELETE it. Then paste a copy of your nvram folder that you copied when imei was not lost. DONT chmod. You will most probably get your network working (ensure that sim card was PRSENT and Radios were ON during this copy paste) within few seconds. I did this to restore imei on galaxy s4.
well, i have flashed 9 different mediatek phones using spflashtool, didnt lose imei in any.

Firmwares are device specific. You CANNOT install a this on any other phone. You will brick your phone by installing a ROM which is not made for your device
Please update stock marshmallow link sir as soon as possible

Thanks in advance

My micromax android one got stuck at marshmallow logo. I tried to flash lollipop using SP flash as mention above in method 2. I connect my phone . My phone is successfully detected by my PC. But SP flash show no progress. why??? I follow all steps very carefully. Or is it not possible to install lollipop if your phone already has marshmallow?

Thank you! I had my zenfone 5 A500KL bricked for almost half a year.
This is what i did
in windows 10 --->
cmd
c:/adb
adb devices
fastboot flash recovery recoveryname(in my case it was ZenFone5LTEStock.img "From this thread" )
Then I got a message in cmd. It said Waiting for phone.
So I pressed down power + volume up. The phone was detected by my PC and the command finally ran.
Next I pressed down power + volume up again and the recovery mode menu finally showed up again!
From there just wiped cache, wiped system, install rom from sd.
Thanks everyone!!!

This should work for you. I'm running stock with the same Firmware version. Sorry it's taken me so long to jump back into this tread. Was using a Moto for a while. I like this phone so much more, but with all the stock Asus crap you can barely have any apps. Going to re-root and get rid of some of the bloatware.

3. in keyboard press windows key + r, type cmd, than press enter

Hello everyone. I was with Android 7 on my ZS570KL and returned to 6 for a tutorial found on the internet and worked, but all the sensors of the device were disabled (screen rotation, gyroscope, approximation, fingerprint [only registers up to 93% and gives error], and all the others). How do I reactivate? I came back to Android 7, formatted the device several times, and nothing solves!
What tutorial and why?
No information = no help

}
I do not remember where I found the tutorial and the files, but the process is this:
1. Download http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/ZenFone/ZS570KL/UL-Z016-WW-4.12.40.1698-user.zip
2. Download https://mega.nz/#!tp9DSQ4b!3wdDLsh3BBtPju8G74xlDjLJ9QywFaoLs1T11mMt3QQ
3. Unzip FlashTools64_20161125.zip
4. Unzip UL-Z016-WW-4.12.40.1698-user.zip and move out files under firmware-update to FlashTools folder
5. Put downgrade.bat, boot.img, recovery.img to FlashTools folder
6. Reboot phone to bootloader and click downgrade.bat
The reason was to swap the conventional root SU through the Magisk. I tried to reinstall 7 just by replacing the original recovery available here in XDA, but the process was not going to restart, so I followed that one to try to return and reinstall everything. It worked, I got back to 6, but I did not know everything. It looks like a computer without the drivers installed.
I'd downgrade again, if it was me, this time I'd install a stock Rom (MM) from ASUS. Then test everything again. If everything is good to go then I'd root and upgrade.
Changing the OS in the middle doesn't help if you have a problem.
Especially if it just builds upon the foundations of the previous OS...
Did you flash a complete N rom or do an update?
The ROMs I try are exactly those of the Asus site. I tried the downgrade again to version 4.12.40.1698 and realized something when I flash in recovery mode. The following error messages appear:
Unmount of /firmware failed: no such volume
Mount: failed to mount /dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/mdtp at /firmware: No such file or directory
Unmount of /firmware failed, no such volume
What is it? How to solve?
I need the original kernel and recovery of the latest firmware released, can anyone make it available?

Thank you very much! Now I need the "persist.img" file, of the same rom, can you make it available? I thank you!
I downloaded the source code kernel from the Asus site, and the compressed file has a sensor folder. I downloaded the kernel zip file to my memory card and tried to install via recovery, however the following message appears: E: footer is wrong / E: signature verification failed. How do I get install by recovery or via flash in cmd?
I followed this tutorial (https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/help/fix-brickloop-audio-fx-fc-efs-corrupt-t2879061) and managed to recover the fingerprint reader, but the others are still turned off. I really need the correct file! Somebody help me, please!
I got it! I used the persist.img of the global rom of the Xiaomi Mi Mix and the sensors came back! Apparently it's a universal file that caters to any device. You can close the topic!

HELLO! I'm having a similar issue. 5 times my Zs570kl end up stuck in Asus logo boot screen after being charging all night (with alarming overheating) . I had to wipe the device with factory reset every time to get it working again. Last time, when finally booted up, all sensor were off, and I couldn't make them work no matter how much I try factory reseting again. I think i could try to install the persist.img file you mention, could you help me to find it? Thanks so much in advance for your help.

Come on. To downgrade, you need to download the official rom from the Asus website (version WW-4.12.40.1698 - do not forget to check if your device is 2.15 or 2.4 ghz). Downloaded, need to put the rom inside a micro sd card (can not be internal storage, need to be in sd). In addition, it must be with the original recovery (the version is indifferent), if it is in TWRP it will not work. Once you have done this, you will have access to recovery mode, go to the "install zip from sd card" option, locate the zip file of the rom and install it, and just wait. Having problems, report here.

Hello! To reinstall the sensors is very simple (both work to find out the way, but then it gets simple hahaha). Download the adb files (it is available here in the forum, and inside the folder put the persist.img that I will make available here.) Access the fastboot mode on the device, connect to the computer, and open the command prompt inside the folder. Open the CMD, type the following command line: fastboot flash persist persist.img and press enter. The file will be rewritten and after that the sensors will be reconfigured. Restart the device. Having problems, report here.

THANK YOU ANDRE!!! I'm really really happy to tell you that everything worked PERFECTLY. I wasn't sure if I need to unlock the bootloader and flash root first, so I tried to do it. I've been able to unlock the bootloader, but for some reason, when I flash the bootroot.img following the instructions from this post - https://forum.xda-developers.com/ze...v-liftoff-zs570klpro-official-unlock-t3557276 -, I get the asus logo boot loop. Anyway, without the root I flash the persist file and, as you said, all the sensors were reconfigured.
Again, muito muito obrigado!!!

Dear All,
I was trying to install a customer ROM in my Asus Zenfone 5z. I was able to unlock the bootloader using official asus app. Then i managed to install a TWRP recovery. there was some partition issue so i flashed recovery in both partitions. the recovery worked fine and i managed to install the pixel rom. after that i wiped dalvik cach and some other items throgh recovery and restarted the phone.
After restart, it is stuck in bootloader. If i select start, recovery mode or power off, it gets rebooted and come back to bootloader again. Seems like a brick scenario.
So i tried the following:
1. Downloaded AFT tool and tried to flash the latest firmware version.. It gave a FPT error and then error on unable to load into recovery mode
2. Tried to run flashall_aft.cmd in directory containing latest firmware.. it said to internal/external command exists
3. Sideload using adb sideload command.. the error was could not read the file..
I am not sure what i can try next.. could you please help.. The details on bootloader screen are:
Fastboot mode
Product name _ ZS620KL
Bootloader version - WW_user_90.10.138.157
Secure Boot - yes
Active Slot A
Device State Unlocked
Help Required - Soft brick - Stuck in bootloader
Dear All, Would really appreciate if you can help me with this thread..
Thanks

Download qfil,
Scrap fz*.mbn from CSC_8.02 and put to raw file of your interest. Ifu don't do so, it will throw error as that file is required and only available in CSC_eng_8.02 version. Never ever touch any other file in CSC 8.02 , it will make it impossible to run any fastboot and adb command and entering EDL is a bit tricky.
Extract the firmware, make sure to have system,vendor,userdata in root path as if u don't remove last few line of Python extraction code it will be deleted.
Go to TWRP Recovery, and reboot to EDL from there.
select all raw program XML and Patch xml and begin Image download.
Doesn't matter whether anything is accessible or not u get new image of ur choice.
If u get sahara error you are not immediately beginning download as ur phone enters into EDL.
Suggestion: Once u get back image sell the [email protected] quarter of cost as it's impossible to run the device in the way you want. The tools are not supported for open source development. The device is fragile, a little tweak and you lose IMEI,SN and soforth your phone network. This is not a device to temper, if u still do so, you will never come out from situation your stuck now.

I also struck in the fastboot mode, All i have done is flashed android q image from asus official site , worked fine with few bugs, then i thought return to stock stable rom, downloaded image from the same page and tried the procedure given, but i got some error initially and struck in fastboot. Iam able to flash latest firmware by connecting to PC in fastboot, all files are able to flash and after restart, a message is appearing with red exclamatory symbol that my device is no longer boot, its not trustable etc and after few seconds restated to fastboot mode. I have tried this in both active slot A and B. I tried to flash android q image too. same error popping up. and iam struck in fastboot now, no recovery nothing, phone doest even switched off, if i longpress power key, restarts again to fastboot.
I want to try your solution, but iam not so expert in sdk things, i did't understand few points in your reply, can you please elaborate step by step procedure, which tools should i download how should i proceed etc. please iam going nuts wasting time behind this phone. or please refer any guide or website to unbrick my asus zenfone 5z.

Hi peeps, my Xiaomi K40 now became a brick because it can't be installed any ROM, I've tried using TWRP and also mi flash tool but nothing helps.
When using TWRP I've tried two methods:

But in both cases it shown:

Flash your device in EDL mode.
Please refer to the post below on how to bypass edl mode authentication.
[GUIDE] How to bypass authentication and flash in EDL with NO auth for FREE!
Thanks to VD171 for his post.
I think your device is having a Snapdragon Chipset. Sorry but you may try to search on google for contact to person who has authorised edl account to flash a Snapdragon based phone.

last week I was in a similar situation like yours just twrp and all partition screwed up.
well what saved me was to put dot os 5.2 on a USB c pen drive and then simply installing it from trwp (choosing USB pen as source) after literally 5-10 minutes phones came back to life.
let me know if it works for you.
also if twrp throws any error during installation just ignore them for me after flash completed phone booted just fine

I said USB pen to make sure you choose it from TWRP install I think the righ name is external storage or something similar anyway it seems you are doing things the right way I am quite sure u ll bring phone back to life.
I think muiu room is just fine, should it fails try crDroid or dot os (do not try arrow or lineage)
Bruh I have a very simple solution I guess it might help you
Well first update to latest official twrp custom recovey for your device then
Navigate to Wipe
advance Wipe
Select data and choose Repair or Change File System
Press Repair File System to see if this fixes the issue. If not, continue.
Press Change File System, choose Ext2, and swipe to confirm.

Try fastboot erase userdata in cmd after taking your device to fastboot mode
Kinda check different twrp I think your twrp is having any problems plz flash your twrp once again
I hope this will surely work for you my friend.

Bro try different formats then change to Ext4 well try this twrp https://dl.twrp.me/alioth/twrp-3.6.0_11-0-alioth.img.html umm i hope this will help you out completely.
if you still have your fastboot mode (turn off then hold power + vol. down), you should check your pc driver if adb and fastboot driver installed properly, then try flashing stock rom (dont relock your bootloader), I think what cause the brick is encrypted storage that get accessed by twrp, even if you decrypt it using password, you can still brick the phone by manually mount some partition in twrp
Thank you all of your help, peeps. Finally I solved my problem by the help of a technician. Because only technician has access to Xiaomi internal tools, these are "Hardware-Level" which could help in these cases.

Hello, glad you solved your issue, but can you please explain briefly how hardware was bricked since you were already able to reach fastboot & twrp? Since it's known that when you can boot to fastboot, it's a softbrick
