So this is the fastest way how I can introduce to you my problem - please open Attachments and see my battery history. My phone just back from the service repair. They told me that the battery has been replaced. Maybe it was big mistake that after I get my compact in hands I rooted him and restored the old ROM and now I'm worring that I just have broken next battery. Is that possible? or my phone wasn't repaired...?

Just flash a stock rom and see what happens. Maybe some combination of your old features is bad for batterys.
I have exactly the same problem. Sending of for repair tomorrow. It seemed to start when I started using Google voice but when I stopped using it the problem stayed so I think it's unrelated.
I ran into problems after installing Lollipop, now my z1c won't charge like it used to. I had it charging last night for 10 hours and it went from 11-50%, have no idea what happened. Did factory reset and even installed from the scratch again with no luck. Also I sometimes get the text power is going faster than you're charging, etc. Tried three different chargers and cables.

Did you experienced any water damage?
If you're asking from me,no I had a bootloop first trying to flash rooted Lollipop, don't know if that damaged something. But I've had hundreds of bootloops before so my phone should have been dead long time ago.
Lähetetty minun D5503 laitteesta Tapatalkilla
Finally succeeded charging to 100%,only able to do so by turning off phone while charging. Calibrated the battery and installed Better battery stats to see are there some bugs eating the battery like crazy.

Hey, did it solve the battery sudden drop issue??
Edit: If possible, please attach ur battery usage snap with the new battery..
Yeah, solved the sudden drops. Still don't get as much life as when I originally got the phone but I think thats due to apps syncing too often etc.
I'll try and post a picture in a bit.

So you are using kitkat... I am having the sudden drop issue in lollipop and some other people also facing it only lollipop .. I think its software issue in lollipop
Yep on kit kat. I thought it was software originally but it did it in recovery and also after being repaired in pc companion. There's several people on here with the same issue, I had an online chat sessionand they said send it in for repair.
Facebook and Google Play Services Keep Alive permission -> OFF helped things a lot in Lollipop, using the App Ops app from Play Store. Still getting Facebook notifications just fine.

Yea.
Syncing, checking mail automatically, keeping Wi-Fi on all the time.
I don't know better methods to get rid of battery woring long hours.
ONLY checking IMAP mail account discharged my phone over the night completely.

The phone at the moment has been sting on the desk connected to the pc charging at 24.5degrees and hasn't restarted for more than 15 min, but when I start playing with it its going to restart. Thanks!

Hi I think it has something to do with the WiFi because the phone just sits on the desk connected to the PC charging for a while not restarting but as soon as I turned the WiFi on restarted right away.

When I sent mine for repair it they didnt ask for any proof of purchase.
I think they just check the IMEI / serial against their database to see when
it was sold and whether its been reported as stolen etc
Proof of purchase is not required but not all phones have 2 year warranty. Just call HTC and see what they say our contact them online, the response time I experienced was within 1 working day.
Thank you very much!

You can soft reset you phone, any application might be conflicting ,,, if it doesn't resolve your problem then take care about the POWER button , it might be pressed when its in your pocket and the long press will result in Shutdown and Restart of phone.
Also check your battery terminals, they should not be loose.

My damn Galaxy W was doing that too. Sent it away twice and have a replacement. Guess what? its still doing it!
Its most likely a battery issue, make sure your battery isn't fat. If it is it might be the culprit.
Or else some application inside is conflicting, like the developer did not test the app good enough then released it.
Have had 2 W's in the family doing this ,as above one went back to Samsung under warranty and that stll did it . I have just updated to CM9 - I am hoping this will cure - early signs are good
It should be, no offence to any JB fans out there, but CM9 is certainly winning in terms of stability. Do give me feedback.

Hey, My phone is having the same problem, except that it never shuts down when i'm not using it. If it's plugged in, it's fine. If it's running an application (while not charging), it shuts off. I've had this phone for around 2 and a half years and this problem is just starting now.

I had the same problem, replaced the battery, and the problem was solved
Hi,
about a month ago, I experienced a sudden increase in battery drain (consistently 5% / hour). First, I thought I might have one of the usual wakelock problems and thus reinstalled everything. The problem didn't go away. Until now I have done the following things to solve it, none of which worked:
flashed all official ROMS from 4.02 to 4.1.2, different custom ROMs, different kernels
didn't install anything or set up an account for sync
tried two different SIM cards; or none at all
left the phone in flight mode
bought a new original extended battery from Samsung
I didn't see any unusual wakelocks or activity in BetterBattery stats in any of those configurations. The battery just drains without any activity; with "Phone idle" being shown at the top of the battery drain list.
My last idea is a hardware defect. Fortunately, I am still under warranty, but just want to make sure I tried everything - It's gonna be pretty tough anyways to convince the seller that there is an actual defect. Is there anything else I could try? Did any of you ever face a similar problem?
Thanks for your help!
If you do go the route of calling the manufacturer, I wouldn't say "about a month ago, I experienced a sudden increase in battery drain". I would think it's more plausible that the phone came with a defect than just all of a sudden developed a defect on it's own one day.
Well, since I bought it about 10 months ago, that would seem rather strange, don't you think?

That a sudden defect in the device would cause a battery drain you hadn't experienced in the previous 9 months? Strange is one of the words I would use to describe that theory, for sure.
hows your data/phone signal? has the quality changed? maybe you changed your brightness or started using autobrightness? is the phone spending quality tine in deep sleep? are you using the facebook app? have you tried trinity kernel?

It's all in the first post - the drain occurs even if nothing is installed on the phone, the phone is in flight mode, has no simcard inserted - and all of that with different roms and kernels and even a new battery. I really don't know what else to suspect other than some broken component, given that I had perfectly good battery life all through the previous 9 months...
If I read the word Trinity on more time I'm gonna scream.

So to follow up on this: I returned my phone to the store I bought it in, they sent it to their local licensed repair shop and about a week later I got it back repaired under warranty. The battery drain is gone now, though I didn't get any details on what was actually broken. Moral of the story - if you have an inexplicable battery drain that cannot be fixed by anything it might just be defective hardware!

Hi XDA Community, long time no see
I have a strange problem with my Galaxy Tab S 8.4 4G (SM-T705Y)...
I upgraded to Lollipop, decided I didn't like it and then downgraded back to Kit Kat...
Since doing so, I'm now experiencing strange problems with my battery...
After fully charging it to 100% and then using it for only a few hours, the battery reportedly goes flat but after rebooting the battery is back up to, say, 30%.
Without charging it, I keep using it, but then it goes flat again really fast - and again, after rebooting, the battery is back up to, say, 15%.
I upgraded back to Lollipop to see if the problem continues but I get numerous hours use out of the [same] battery.
I would prefer not to use Lollipop as I cannot [easily] install the Xposed Framework.
I've tried searching around for solutions, but I can only find dissimilar issues.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Puppet Test Pilot
Did you try battery calibration?
https://www.androidpit.com/how-to-calibrate-the-battery-on-your-android-device
Also wipe cache/dalvik.
Hi Starlord, thanks for your message.
I tried a couple of different apps that were for battery calibration (one with and one without root) but not the method or the app in the link. And I'm pretty sure I wiped cache/dalvic on one of the occasions I re-flashed. But I don't think I tried the two options together.
I'll try in the morning and let you know how I go.
Cheers,
same happen with me. you must resolder the connection between the battery and the board. if you still have warranty you can bring to samsung service center and ask them to resolder the connection.

Hi, Sorry for the belated update.
I finally got around to re-flashing my tablet.
I made sure to wipe cache/dalvik and then after rooting I installed then ran the 'Battery Calibration' app.
As directed, I made sure the battery was 100% charged when I calibrated.
Then I used it until it went flat and shut off, I got a few hours use.
After rebooting the battery said 20%.
So the problem doesn't seem as bad as before but it is still occurring.
I'm quite sure the problem is not hardware related because it doesn't occur at all when the tablet is running Android Lollipop.
If anyone has any further advice it will be greatly appreciated but I think I will just go back to running Lollipop.
Cheers

There's only one real fix for your battery, but unfortunately means you need to open your tablet by removing the back cover, unplug the battery and wait a few minutes.
Put everything back together and it should be fixed.
Going in a different direction, there are no issues installing xposed on your device.
Maybe you should be asking how to do that rather than taking backward steps.
This worked for me.. just try to drain your battery.. then remove your battery.. then reattach charge it fully then boot up
It's been over a month and I started facing screen flickering , i used all the tweaks like disabling HW overlays and wiping cache partition but still no luck , so I rooted my phone and installed official CM13 to see if its zen UI or somthing related with Asus official OTA but still facing the issue on CM 13 can anyone help out , is there any else software tweak or is it truelly a hardware problem ?
I think we all suffer from this. Sometimes its harder to notice it. Haven't found a fix, I'm here to say I fell your pain.

so what should I do , are you saying that changing the screen is the only option left ?
It's probably the hardware's fault.

Spend lot of time online to find out what the problem is. HW OR SW But in vain send lot of mails to ASUS but only received automated mail that visit the customer service centre. But I don't have nearby. Can someone explain????
Try to bend the upper border of your screen (the place consist of Asus logo and the receiver). Turn off the screen before doing. Check if it is reduced or gone, but i guess it won't in the first try, so do it 5-6 times. I experienced this 2 days ago. If you can't fix it by my method (over 10 times), you should better have it serviced by Asus.
