[Q] PA gapps help - Paranoid Android Q&A

First and foremost, I apologize if this is the wrong section. And I like the express my love fore this site. I wouldn't know half the android ins and outs that I do if not for all you devs/smart peeps here. With out farther ado:
Okay, so I recently rooted my Moto g, 4.4.4 KitKat on Boost Mobile and was looking into flashing PA onto it. The ROM flashes just fine, but the problem is installing Gapps. I flash the ROM (PA_falcon-4.6-beta5-20141023.zip) after wiping my phone, cache to system, and the try to flash the Gapps zip (pa_gapps-modular-micro-4.4.4-20150301-signed.zip). After less than a second, it comes back status 6 aborting install. After much web surfing to find a reason for this (most only coming back with errors flashing roms) and trying to edit the updater-script at the aforementioned results behest as well as glancing into updater-binary to see if I might see something problematic there, though, I must admit, I haven’t really delved that deeply into the inner workings of these sorts of programs, so I came up empty handed, but I digress. More to the point, I decided to take a look and the log after one last try to come up with the following error:
Code:
“Using fallback updater for downgrade
Line 2 col 1: syntax error, unexpected $end, expecting IF or STRING or ‘!’ or ‘(‘
1 parse error”
Keep in mind that I ran and looked at the log from the “un-mucked with” Gapps file I had backed up on my computer, so nothing was broken on my part. So finally to my question, Can anyone please help me fix this?
Oh, one last thing I forgot. I’m running cwm touch 6.5 something as my custom recovery image if that would shine any kind of light on my situation.
Thank you so much beforehand.

Well the gapps thread actually lists this in the FAQ section.
You need twrp recovery

I have decided to open a Questions and Answers thread on this section of the forum. This is a good way to keep the number of new threads with questions down to a minimum, which will make new threads essentially for people that are contributing to the Samsung Epic 4G. This includes, but is not limited to, people that are providing the following:
- Roms & Kitchens
- Programs & Apps
- Fixes & Tweaks
- Skins & Themes
- Tips & Tricks
I would like to request the help from other members to keep the thread in order and in check. This will have the added side effect of creating an ever self updating knowledge base that will far extend the content of the Wiki. This will in turn save us from having to answer the same question a billion times...

Unfortunately, we don't have anyone in the community who has inside access to that information. Some of our members are affiliated with Sprint, and so have slightly more reliable rumors, but even their sources have thus far been wrong if they quoted a specific date...
So I hope you understand that I'm not being a jerk when I say, we won't know until it actually happens (and this will probably always be the case)
That being said, this most recent leak (DK28) seems stable so far IMO, so it could potentially become our official update
ok im a total noob to all this stuff. i followed the guide to update my epic to 2.2. the problem is, that the camera, gallery, and a couple other apps dont work. Can someone help me? Should i go back to 2.1, if so, how do i do that?
EDIT: Angry rant removed, thanks to the mods for a quick response (and to the member who's post was removed: no hard feelings, I hope you understand)
Just remember to read before posting, to make sure your post will be relevant and not redundant

Whenever flashing a ROM using either recovery, it's always a good idea to wipe the phone (as in factory reset - I'm not referring to wiping the cache or the dalvik cache, although both steps are also usually recommended)
If you used the odin method described in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=861213
then you might have flashed the wrong tar - DK05 and DK17 both had the camera problem, make sure you have the DK28 file.
If you have the right tar, then you could have an incomplete download... I doubt that though, when that happened to me, my phone wouldn't boot at all. But you might want to redownload the tar just to be sure (double check the filesize after it finishes and before you flash, if it seems too small then it messed up again)
That's the best general advice I can offer, but if you'd like to provide more details about the method you used (especially a link to the guide you used, if it isn't the one I provided), someone here might be able to identify where you're going wrong
i followed the instructions from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=861213. i didnt use odin, i just used the .zip method. it took me a lot of tries cause i kept getting errors. the second mirror link worked for me, but like i said, my camera, gps, gallery and some other apps dont work.
oh and everytime i try to flash again, i get the error.
It sounds like you're either starting from the wrong rom or not wiping the phone before flashing the zip. All of the zip updates I have seen require you to start from DI18 stock (root an clockwork seem to be okay in my experience, all other mods must be removed) - if you have installed any custom roms, your best bet is to follow the odin method using the stock DI18 tar - so you may as well just skip the zip methodand odin to the stock DK28 tar
And you absolutely must wipe the phone (again, factory reset - I suspect many people are just wiping the cache and/or the dalvik cache).

Odin flashing
I've got a quick question. I'm looking to move to a build using the DK28 information release and it requires that I update the pit and modem files on my phone using Odin. Do I need to flash a 2.2 rom right away or am I safe to boot into my current rom first?

Are you doing the strictly odin method (full froyo in a tar file)? Or an update.zip?
The odin method *should* include the modem and everything (and you use the updated pit in the same process) - you'll have to read the particular thread that you got the download link from, but I haven't noticed any odin tar files that required the modem separately
For the update.zip method, I don't know if it matters whether you flash the modem before or after applying the zip through recovery - I don't think either one overwrites the other, but that's a part of the process I can only guess about. But regardless of when you odin flash the modem, that's when you'll use the new pit file (the same as the odin-only method above).
As far as I know, the primary difference is that the update.zip doesn't inherently overwrite user data (but you'll probably have broken programs that FC all the time, which means a wipe is necessary, making this somewhat null). I prefer the odin method because it is a fresh flash of the entire system (I usually let it repartition as well - no one else has posted about that feature so I have no idea if it's a fluke that it hasn't given me problems)
Hope that helps
which is the best
so i have updated to dk28 froyo 2.2 i like battery life and performance can anyone offer info on which is the best rom for me or just some insight on which rom is the best overall
How do I stop running applications from starting every time I restart my phone?? I have the start up auditor but for some reason everytime I restart my phone the apps I have disabled keep restarting themselves and I have to go into the running programs and disable them manually. WTH?? Doesnt programs constantly running in the background kill the battery life?? How do I disable apps from starting?

How I understand it, especially with Froyo, you shouldn't have to kill programs in the background, if said 'background' process or service is working normal or efficiently. I still kill the DRM process when I reboot my phone, and not sure if it's still causing drain issues.
Also (someone else confirm this), I believe that constantly 'killing' certain background processes actually uses MORE battery, since it has to constantly restart itself. I've had a much more stable device *not* using auto killers, and just sniping one here and there that I know to cause drain.
Some reading material on GC, tho, in regards to memory management

A lot of it is personal preference - this early in the game, the primary differences between the roms are going to be mostly cosmetic. So for now, the best advice I can offer is to try each of them and decide which theme you like. Regardless of how you upgraded, you had to use odin, so you have succeeded at the most difficult step of the process - and odin can bring your phone back to life if something goes wrong, so it's an invaluable skill to have.
In the meantime, keep watching the threads (quietly, unless you have a question that hasn't been asked already - we're working on cleaning up the forum to make it easier for everyone to find answers... but I digress...)
It's too early to be sure of any of the fixes out there - we have at least three separate fixes for the GPS issues; some people find success with one, others with another, and a lucky few don't need the fixes at all... so in summary, we can't say which is better or worse just yet, stay tuned and decide whether you want to experiment on the bleeding edge, or wait for these things to be stable and thoroughly tested.
And if you have any doubts, just stick with the stock DK28 for now
tl;dr, questions in BOLD.
Okay, after spending the entire night scouring the internet/this forum and starting from absolutely zero-knowledge about the Android OS, I managed to update my Epic to 2.2, and root the phone. Now, I'm kinda stuck as far as customization goes. I see all these cool skins and battery life mods and stuff, but they don't exactly offer any steps as to how to install them. Since I don't exactly know what file-types do what, I'm kinda shooting blindly at trying to update/install something "custom" onto the phone. So, my question(s) is/are:
What does the ROM do?
What does the ROOT do?
I know the root basically "unlocks" your phone, but that's all I know. The process of customizing the phone still remains a mystery. (that's the problem with following step-by-step instructions, rather than actually knowing what you're doing.)
I also don't understand the purpose of flashing a phone. Flashing, in my experience is to update something, like say a BIOS. But that sets the system back to square 1 as far as all settings go, in this particular example.
If I flash, with say Odin, after having updated to DK28 and "rooting," won't this make all the "customization" that I've done prior basically 'null' because I've just flashed the phone into a blank-state?
Sorry if these are questions easily answered by searching, but I just spent my entire sleep-cycle trying to find the answers to these questions, and managed to only get so far. I look forward to the answers On another note, I am now EXTREEEEMELY pleased with my phone. Before this evening, I was just the regular, old run-of-the-mill enduser. I liked the cool built-in customizations and all the apps and what not, but never dreamed of being able to customize my phone to THIS EXTENT. So, now it's something I'm very interested in doing..it makes my phone truly mine.

It depends on what you flashed with Odin. If you only flash a modem file, then your customizations and apps are untouched. If you flash an entire ROM in "tarball" form then not only does it re-write the modem but it also overwrites all user data. Think of the latter as resetting the phone to stock and works even if you cannot boot up.
When can we expect a custom Kernel with netfilters for wifi tethering?
n00b question.
If an SDK version is released (say, like, Gingerbread today), does that mean chefs could take it and cook up a ROM for ANY phone (say, like, the Epic)? Or do they need something else to do that?
Remove Touchwiz Launcher (consequences?)
Hey-- I'm using Quantum 2.0.0 ROM, and I never use the touchwiz launcher. Does anyone know if it's safe to just remove the apk? (TouchWiz30Launcher.apk) or is there other functionality tied to it?
I use LauncherPro, fyi.
Please forgive my ignorance... I've searched the forums, looked at the wiki...
I use titanium backup and am now running the DK27 froyo build by noobnl. My question... How do I restore my e-mail accounts to the phone everytime without having to re-type them in? I've been flashing a rom every other day on average since I got the phone and it's getting REALLY old.

Revolutionary on new wildfire problem (or extreme muppetry)

Hello everyone.
I enjoyed the noob video and also look forward to being pasted no doubt.
I have a wildfire running 2.2 android which I understand means I am running the latest firmware, which I also understand is going to make it difficult for me to root easily.
Never the less not being one to be beaten I have tried with EVO3, which no matter what I tried would not work, constantly asking if my firmware was too new. I even wiped it but no luck.
So I struck upon revolutionary, which yes I understand is beta.
This is perhaps where my lack of understanding comes in. Would I be right in thinking that custom roms require a specificly rooted device?
The thing is I have apparently been successfull with revolutionary. I can boot into it and I was able to instaly cryongena rom which worked OK until I installed google apps where by it constantaly showed the spinning blue arrow, round and round, rebooting and rebooting.
Thing is all other roms I have tried, everyone, has failed, with either script being old 'error 6' etc etc.
I found I needed a different kind of rom, which a few were offering however these also failed with error 6 which apparent was something to do with not being pure unix or something.
Sorry I am not up on the language, but I think I have tried all the popular ones, puzzle etc and none will install.
When I start up with the volume button pressed it shows the screen then says something about failing to load image, but goes away to quick to read pc4diag.img or something.
Is it possible I have not loaded revolutionary correctly, and have I gained 'root'
Thanks for reading, and please feel free to tear me a new one.
- Yes, I am sure you have Revolutionary installed correctly. You got a bootloop while installing GApps, in which case I would recommend performing a full wipe in Clockworkmod and try to install again. (Install the CM ROM first, then the GAPps Zip. Also, I hope you are using a filename called gapps-gb-2011xxxx.zip)
- If you want to install other ROMs, Sense and Android 2.2.1 ROMs require Clockworkmod 2.x. Attempting to flash them in Clockworkmod 3.x/4.x will give you the "Scripting not supported" error. The workaround to this is to download this attachment:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=662193&d=1311319218
Flash this in your new Clockworkmod Version, which will give you temporary 2.5, then proceed as normal.
- When you boot into the HBoot Mode, it will automatically perform a search for the files PC49IMG.diag and .nbh. It's normal, and theres nothing to worry about. After the search is over, and, it has not found the files, you can navigate properly again.
Oh, and I think you are being too paranoid about the video and everyone here trying to tear you a new one.
Good Luck
Thanks very much for your answer.
Honestly I spent 2 hours on google last night trying to get my head around it.
To be honest all I want is a quick phone, and I am not getting that with stock software on my wildfire, I get very frustrated when trying to scroll but it reads it as me tapping an app icon, and there are loads of them I don't want in here, footsteps and tweets and the likes, I am simply not interested and neither am I allowed to remove them. The cynogenmod looked amazing, but I can see even more processor intensive than the stock software.
I will have a look at what you have suggested and thanks for your help!
In that case, I think you might want to stick with the Stock ROM, and, get an app like 'Root Uninstaller' or 'Titanium Backup' which allows you to uninstall (Or, to be more correct - 'freeze') any apps you wish - Including System Apps.
Not trying to advertise Cyanogenmod here, since I understand ROM preference is a personal thing, but, I would recommend giving it one more try, after a full wipe. Also, go with the latest nightlies rather than the Stables. I have been using it since it was released back in January, and, honestly, I am never going back to Stock / Sense based ROMs.
Don't get me wrong it looks awesome. But the boot up time was just shy of 4 minutes (although I now understand it may have been because of first boot) and two attempts at install failed.
I shall look at how to fully wipe, but to be honest, being very new to hacking my phone I am quite happy having the back up there to revert too.
Well I tried to install anything but nothing works so I shall revert to my original back up and see about these tools for removing unwanted apps.
Thanks for the help, but something is not right. All roms either get as far as the twinkly noise on the HTC screen then do it again and again, and cynogen gets to the rotating arrow, then eventually an android zips across the screen and back to the arrow
Well I don't think I have root on this device. I tried to install busybox and titanium and both tell me my phone is not rooted.
Sigh.
If you are on the Stock ROM, you will have to flash this additionally:
http://bit.ly/su2361ef
This will install Superuser, which is what will give you "root". If you are on Custom ROMs, flashing this additional file is not required, since, they include the Superuser Binary already,. So, flash that, and then try installing Busybox / Ti Backup. (make sure you get a "superuser" icon in your app drawer after flashing that zip)
EDIT:
- Are you on Clockworkmod 3.0.0.6 incidentally? That version has caused bootloops for many users when installing ROM's.
- First boot time is extremely long (Upto 7-8 mins), and its normal.
Hello thanks for the info.
I am not confident I know what mod I am on, I just went to the revolutionary website and downloaded the latest beta.
When you say it can take 7-8mins to load up would this include the boot loops though? Thats all I get on all of them
I shall install the super user bit see if that helps.
No, not including bootloops. BTW, I am referring to the Clockworkmod Version, not Revolutionary,
When you enter the Recovery to flash something, at the bottom, you will "Clockworkmod Version x.x.x.x". It is that version I was asking.
Sadly I am not getting anywhere here, every single rom just goes round in circles in one way or another.
The version say revolutionary CWM v4.0.1.4
I was unable to get the standard revoked installed as I am runnning the latest android firmware and it just kept failing.
Something I am getting rather used to!
I cannot see a clockwork mod number anywhere, although it must be there as I have clockwork folder on the SD card.
Sorry, I am being a muppet here.

[Q] Ultra Noob Question, what am I doing wrong to fail custom rom installs.

Ok so I have been trying to mess around with my S3 for the last few days, I just converted over after 6 years of using iOS products and have absolutely no knowledge of Android at all, most of the info I can find that pertains to my device is limited to very basic instructions that make no sense to me having no droid background, I tried following information from other devices and that didn't change any of my issues. I have rooted the phone successfully and with no issues; however my next step of installing a custom rom has had me hit a brick wall.
I have gotten as far as installing the rom onto my phone (CM10) yes I was trying to use the proper d2att version of the nightly updates, most current one. I have CWM running fine, created a nandroid backup, booted back to stock, wiped all the cache's, wiped the phone. But any time I try to install the rom it gives me some BS status 7 error, which from all the searching I did came back with an issue of it not being the correct rom for my phone. But according to everything blasted on this site and on CM's site my phone (Rogers GS3) uses all the d2att stuff, thats what I used to root my phone and as mentioned that went flawlessly, 10 minutes maybe. Big thanks to the people here that put the Toolkit package together.
If it makes any difference I was trying to install via CWM via the install from zip on SD
Terribly sorry if this is the wrong spot for this but its been three hours of horrible frustration on something that people do in a 6 minute video on YouTube, followed one to the word and still had this status 7 error.
TL;DR - Help a converted apple noob with his perpetual status 7 error from hell!
First thing, you posted in the sprint section and as for status7 error I want to say you have a bad download, try downloading it again.

Won't hurt to try an older version, or another ROM to make sure your phone runs that ATT coding properly. If a different/older ROM works, then I would chalk it up under the bad download/bad update for that ROM and wait for the next increment. As long as you have the Nandroid (without getting crazy) you should be free to explore different things.

[Solved] MiuiV4 CDMA will not boot

All right this problem has now been solved! Thank goes to khamsakamal48 for posting the solution for the problem. The problem is solved by replacing the updater-script with the one that is used in the GSM version the of Rom. Then Using the latest 4ext recovery, wipe everything and install. Thank you to everyone that have participated in trying to get this solved. This might also work with other recoveries, but has not yet been confirmed.
Updater-Script: http://db.tt/sUfk5p8E
Latest 4ext recovery: http://db.tt/sP5o7HhJ
only thing i could think of is try a different recovery .I haven't had any trouble at all booting miui an i use cwm touch version.
Alright I'll have to give it a try. Was trying to avoid that but oh well. Thanks!

so I tried 4ext and clockwork recovery. Both have caused my phone to just boot right back into recovery. Wiped data and all.

Can you give us a little more background on your phone setup? Have you flashed roms successfully before or is this a first time? Are you s-off?
Sorry bout that. I am S-off and I am able to flash all of the other roms available. But when it comes to this one it just won't flash.

I have been having this same problem. I am going to try to go through everything I have done to see if I can get more info.
I had MIUI V4 (2.9.29 CDMA) running shortly after rooting this phone (maybe 1 week ago). I installed it from the latest TWRP, so that isn't our problem. I loved it and everything was great. I am unsure what radio I was on at the time, and I think that may be where my problems came in.
I successfully installed ViperINC 1.0.0 after doing a factory reset, wiping cache, dalvik from my WORKING MIUI V4. It booted and I played with it for a few hours, but wanted to go back to MIUI. At this point I was on the firmware from nitsuj17's thread. When I tried to factory reset and install MIUI clean again I started having the same trouble as OP. Since then I have tried every radio I could get my hands on, and may have even been a bit sloppy about what firmware I flashed (the only one I'm unsure of is CondemnedSoul's Return to stock as I am unsure what all it included other than radio and stock rom). After a lot of different attempts, I used CondemnedSoul's PG32IMG and went back to stock where I had everything working fine (for stock). I got an OTA update, but wasn't satisfied so I kept trying different radios from the pinned post on the Development thread (really only .0312 and .0320 as well as the first leaked firmware I linked from nitsuj17). So far nothing has worked to get me any further than the OP unless I just use a different rom. Had this rom never worked I would just talk to the developer, but as I had it working before and no idea what changed I'm at a loss.
I don't have enough posts to get something on the Development forum, but if anyone here can help, I'd really appreciate it.
I've been scouring these forums looking for someone who has made progress on this issue. I'm going to make a list here of posts by people having similar problems, if not the exact same. I have yet to see anyone successfully address them.
One of a few people on the MIUI V4 thread who have had the same issue. I had this rom running at one point, though, so I'm not sure what change caused it to stop. I definitely get further with the TWRP recovery (freezes on "android" splash screen) than the 4ext recovery (reboots to recovery).
I don't believe the JB issues are directly related, but similar problems.
Similar to the Jellybean issue above. More similar to my own situation since I also only started having trouble after flashing ViperINC, but I have formatted, wiped and reverted (even to S-ON and unroot Froyo) so much that I can't see how it would have changed anything that I have not removed. This thread has 3+ people with the same sort of issues. Last report one of them installed ViperINC with all defaults and let it run for a few minutes then wiped and re-installed CM10 with success. I may try this, only with MIUI. I have no idea what settings would be slipping through.
And the cdma miui is one of the only roms that boots for me. Running it now. I think Zelmo is right, there's something sticking around with that Aroma script. I've flashed aosp roms over sense roms and vice versa without even wiping and never had issues like these. I've basically wiped this thing with steel wool and always the same thing. It's gone atleast 15 mins with it's bootloop/freezing max cpu process. It ain't gonna boot! I was up until 2am last night ****ing with it. I'm done.
I'm nearly there. Had I never been able to run MIUI, I would probably have dumped it by now, but it's like an itch I can't reach at this point. There is just something there that I can't see or imagine that is hanging in through every wipe I can find. I just formatted my SD card and did a bunch of wipes (I know that has been tried) and I'm going to try VenomINC with all defaults like Zelmo88 had some success with. If I don't have any luck getting to MIUI from there I'll probably go back to my dinc or buy a new phone soon. This one was really an experiment anyway.
Will follow up if I can figure out anything else.
khamsakamal48 posted pretty detailed instructions here. I have confirmed that my install is going pretty fast, so I am betting that could be our issue. I am not sure what causes this or how to prevent it. I'm going to try and flash it a bunch of times here to see if I can get it to complete.
Edit: I tried 3-4 times with CDMA file and had no success making it take longer than 1-2 minutes. I then flashed the GSM file which I had been having the same trouble with and it succeeded! I am going to check my MD5s again on the CDMA file and give it another go.
Edit: I have tried now around 10 times with the file found here linked from khamsakamal48's thread on the development forum. MD5 matches, but I cannot find any method of flashing>wiping>reflashing>rewiping>crying>flashing>snoring which will make it take more than about a minute with the "install". I'm going to type out my log from 4ext so that I have something to do.

If someone could post a link to this on the Dev forum or something I would appreciate it. I don't feel like spamming 4 more posts just so I have that privilege.

Your post is an exact match to what I've done. Even tried reverting to ext3 ( no luck, obviously). Well I've got the bug so now I'm not stopping until I figure this out. I'm running viper 1.0.1 so there might be a common element.

I think most of us first noticed these problems around the time we flashed Viper, but I have nuked this thing so hard from so many different directions since the last time I ran Viper that I can't imagine anything surviving. Still, a little too coincidental.
Running the GSM version didn't last long, either. I played around with trying to get it to use my sim, but as soon as I changed some of my network settings it went into a bootloop tailspin and somewhere along the way corrupted my /system. That took a little work to get around, so now I'm back to aeroevan's CM10 which runs OK... other than what doesn't.
Try replacing the updater-script under meta-inf with one from my GSM version!!
Hope that helps!!
Edit: Replace the updater-script with this one- http://db.tt/sUfk5p8E & use this recovery which I downloaded just now- http://db.tt/sP5o7HhJ
All the best!!

Worked perfectly first try! Now running CDMA version without problem. I don't know why it works, but it works. Everyone thank khamsakamal48!
I'm not seeing a meta-inf folder. Is there another place it could be?

I believe it is in meta-inf>com>google>android
Updater-script should be located there.

System Partition Issue

So I recently found an old Galaxy SII Epic 4G Touch lying around and I thought I would play around with it a little bit.
Little did I know it was gonna be a complete hell
So in all of the confusion of simply not being able to flash whatever the heck I wanted (since the kernel and recovery are apparently both within one monolithic binary), I have now run into a different issue.
So, on this phone so far, I have somehow managed to crash, break, and soft brick my way into successfully installing CyanogenMod 11 (4.4.4 KitKat), CWM 6.0.5.1(I think yeah totally), and the pico loadout for 4.4.4 gapps. I reeeaaally enjoy taking these phones that manufacturers destroy with preloaded launchers, bloat, etc. and fixing them up nice to look like they just rolled off the Google showroom with a fresh installs of all stock gapps, and silky smooth android. But here's where my issue comes in. I spent the good part of today just looking for a full gapps package with all stock gapps that would work on this thing. I sifted through unsafe websites, dead links, and throughout (what i think is) most of this forum to find something that would work, but couldn't. Thought it was issues with not being able to install PA packages onto Cyanogenmod. But that wasn't my issue. (the recovery kicked out error after error each time I tried. So it was an issue for sure. I realize that. Just not the issue I want to solve here and now) So then, I decided to simply run another factory reset, do another fresh install of the OS, and cave in, and use the nano app package. This package was the only one to give me some kind of response. It essentially said that my /system/ partition was too small to accept all of the apps on it. And then it dawned on me. The internal storage on this phone is separated into 2 partitions. 16gb. 1.97gb for system use, and the rest for downloaded apps, media, etc.etc. . I want to know if there is a process - for this phone specifically - to merge those two partitions together so that I can get a stock looking gapps install on this guy. I don't plan on using this phone for anything in particular. Just doing this for fun.
Anyone got any answers? I've seen similar situations floating around here and other places with other devices. And it's doable(????????), but all of the methods shown are for those specific devices, and I would rather not try and replicate them here if somehow something is critically different.
Thanks for any response at all. Seriously. If it's just to tell me I'm a big stupid and this won't and can't work, I will still appreciate it.
