[Q] cm12 WIFI authentication and battery drainage issues - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Guys,
until a couple of weeks ago I had cm11 installed. It was mostly awesome , ESPECIALLY battery life, it would last up to 48 hours, YES ; 48 hours, it never lasted less than 24 hours unless I was using Maps for a long period.
Now I have cm12 installed (build # cm_amami_userdebug 5.02 LRX22G 2312e8540e test-keys, cm12 version up to 2015-03-01 nightly, all having the following two issues which might be connected:
- wifi will disconnect frequently, citing "authentication problem", I just turn it off and on again and it reconnects immediately; no need to re-authenticate.
- huge battery drainage.
Both issues are resolved by reinstalling cm11. But since there is lots off issues with cm12 recovery the switch back and forth is not easy any more and take at least two hours; plus I wanna keep using Lollipop

Best wait for the proper port of Lollipop from Sony.
Several cries for help in the Q&A thread from people with broken CM builds. What's the obsession with putting some random port on your phone to see if it will work?
Have you tried the CM thread?

well, I am not experienced enough with these forums to know where to post that question.
One thing though, it is not a z1c issue, it is happening almost for all CM12 builds on any device. Just Google "cm12 wifi authentication problem" or "cm12 battery drainage issues. You will find issues for nexus devices, for oneplusone and for a whole bunch of different devices. No solutions offered though.
Anyway, I am back to cm11 nightlies now, but hope cm12 issues will be resolved.

murdock 's battery drain fix

Well i want to mention my testings with cm7 nightly 15 and radio 26.04.02.17_M2_SF. The patch doesn't. Work. With data data enabled i have a lot battery drain. From 97 to 82 % about 40 min.
Thanks.
And you have used it as instructed in the original thread, flashed it and used voice search, microphone record etc to activate it? You also need to do it after booting.
Yeah mate I have done all things mentioned at first post. Also updated cm 7 to nightly 15 from 12 but I have alot battery drain. I don't want to flash another radio.

My suggestion would be to PM mad-murdock with the results of your "adb logcat | grep -i aic" and possibly a logcat if you could get one, as for some reason your hardware itteration seems to be unusual, as it seems to be working for the rest of us, and this would be helpfull in him debugging the battery drain issue. BTW when you say you upgraded from nightly #12 - #15 you did flash the fix after updating didn't you?
Ofcourse mate I did the fix after update! I'm afraid may be radio issues but I don't to reflash new radio due to prevent bricking
Have you set your wifi sleep policy to never?
Florida
Yes mate is enabled but I mean mobile internet. The problem persists when I have fm radio alsoalso enabled. Today from 9 till 3 I had fm radio and make few calls the battery goes to 45%.
Any ideas will be appreciated.
My advice always stands, remember to run your battery to nil then charge it back up. Failing that flash your radio for a different one.
I am running the same radio and CM7 RC1.
On the other hand I guess YMMV is always applicable in these circumstances.

Well I left battery goes 15% to 20% and then charge it.
YM M V?
I was wondering if I flash new kernel but I don't know wich one. Any recommendations?
Your Mileage May Vary
Err im happy with the Cyanogenmod kernel. IMHO the kernel you run is linked to the ROM you flash and that's good, flashing others is really about pulling more power from your CPU etc. Again I recommend you run the phone down till it powers itself off then charge back to 100%. This is recommended not every day, but about once every few months.
This is my experience however, I ONLY ADVISE FROM WHAT WORKS FOR ME...
As always Your Mileage May vary
Thanks for the rEplies guys I'll test and see
no worries Hope it all works out for you.
hello mates today I saw something wich seems strange to me. I enabled fm radio and I see aic3254pd was open.

CM11 randomly freezes

Installed the unofficial CM11 for my z1c 24 hours ago. It worked well for the first 12 hours. But the phone periodically freezes after periods of idle.
If I haven't used it for anywhere between 20-60 minutes, it doesn't unlock, stays dark and I have to force a reboot. This has happened 4 times in the past 3 hours.
I'd post this directly into the CM11 thread, but new users can't post in that thread.
Also, 3G and 4G is very unstable.

when u install un-official CM11 based ROM so i don't think official team support it.
problems are because of Bugs!
It s unstable ROM so it has lots of bugs
nothing to do now, u should wait for an update or install another stable rom or back to stock
:good:
Yes, I understand, just listing bugs the only place I can.

Any 4.4.2 Rom without Bluetooth issue

Hi I have tried couple of Roms like Ditto and AOSB 4.4.2 Roms. For all these I have issues with my car bluetooth. The calls cant be answered properly or nothing cant be heard. I have raised this issue in my posts also. But not sure, any got fixed.
so please help me by telling, If there is any 4.4.2 Roms for N7100 without car bluetooth issue. Please help
I am on CM11 Nightly build from 14th March (have been using CM11 since M2 release) I went to this because others I tried lost my baseband and IMEI.
This works fine with my Parrot system - for both calls and playing music from my phone.
Only found your query because I am looking to see if there any questions on the fact that the in call volume level when just using the phone is very quiet even with it on full volume.
THe other quirk I have found (not a show stopper) is that the phone no longer reports the provider correctly. Before I moved from stock, the phone reported my provider as EE, now it fluctuates between T-Mobile and Orange
Am planning on trying out SlimKat.
I could be wrong but I think that most 4.4 ROMs out there are based on CM11
I have the N7105 LTE version of the phone
I switched to SlimKat last night and this one also has no problems with Bluetooth - used it to listen to music and make phonecalls from the car on the way in to work this morning.
It's early days but comparison between CM11 and SlimKat so far would be that SlimKat is the better ROM. It's hard to recall but am sure that I can get more app shortcuts to a screen, plus am not restricted to using hangouts for SMS messages.
Both ROMs have pretty good battery life with some aggressive Greenifying - been off charge for 6hours 30 mins so far today and have used 13% battery, bluetooth has been on all the time, mobile data is switched on but wifi doesnt stay on when screen is off.
SlimKat seems a good deal faster/more responsive than CM11 and Quadrant would seem to back that up - 6782 on SlimKat, 5656 on CM11 (CM11 was running in performance mode at the time too) so that is roughly 20% faster without applying any performance enhancements.
Think I will be sticking with this for a while

Wifi doesnt stay means...wifi gets disconnected when the screen gets turned off ? Is this an issue ?

It is how I have set it up - it's in wifi options - when the screen is off you can keep wifi running all the time, or only when it is plugged in to charge, or never.
I use the "never" option unless i am downloading a large file such as an OTA update or even a new ROM. This helps the battery life.

[Q] Cyanogenmod 11 battery time

Everytime I flash the latest build of cm11 I get no problems at all with the rom, no glitches. It works perfectly for me, except for the battery time.
When I use my phone for simple texting or tweeting or anything of that form, my battery seems to be drained in a short period of time. The battery time in standby is still the same as stock rom.
I am currently using cm11-20140429 for the E975 model
I have tried changing kernels, I am currently using the 4.4.2 cyanokernel from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2572380
I have tried turning of Google Now Launcher and i switched back to the stock cm11 trebuchet, but the problem remained.
the problem is not battery-related or charger-related since the battery worked perfectly on stock rom(more than 24 hours of listening to music on standby)
So I was wondering if any of you had the same problem or if there's any solution that you guys have found?

Lollipop problems for all LG G2s and G3s

Hello All,
Just wanted everyone to know that there seems to be a problem with the Lollipop upgrades from LG. It is not a Sprint problem as when I did a Google search this morning users from all carriers are screaming. The problems mainly are:
- Slow charging - my G2 now takes several to get to a full charge where it used to take 1 hour.
- Fast Battery drain - the battery now lasts about 6 hours on average where before I could go all day with one charge.
- Slow Wifi speed - there are reports that this is caused by an implementation of IP6. There are ways to disable this if you are rooted.
- overheating - Phone gets really hot - when I am charging my phone the temps near the camera module get very toasty. It gets hot enough that I have to take the Otterbox case off to let it cool down.
I don't know when or if LG will fix the issue, just wanted you all to know what could happen before you upgrade.
I have none of these problems.
I also have none of these problems. My G2 battery life has been quite good on Lollipop so far, charges like it should, and isn't getting hot.
I'm getting 5hrs sot. I actually thought the battery was stuck a couple days ago. It sat all night and into the next morning at 100%. Idled all night on WiFi, took a couple pics in the morning as well as a call, browsed twitter and reddit, used the Starbucks app, and sent a picture through Textra. All while at 100%. I rebooting thinking it was wrong, but it started back up at 99%. 7hrs23min at 100%. Granted it's not going to be custom rom/kernel good but it's stock, so that's expected.
Did you factory reset after the OTA?
I ran the ZVE tot file, then side loaded the ZVA OTA with adb. Did a factory reset before booting and it's been great.
Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk
No Problems here
I also have none of the issues, i think maybe all the people who were on zve already and got the ota are having problems.
Agreed, no problems here. Best advice is to take the update and then factory reset. Like "Alt-Ctrl-Delete" for your phone. Works wonders.
I had stock and sideloaded the ota zip. I wiped the dalvik cache before updating. I have none of these problems whatsoever. My only issue is with lg or sprint. Apparently, for whatever reason they decided to remove LG home themes settings.
None of these problems. You might factory reset. You could also TOT back to ZVE and redo the ZVG upgrade. Factory reset after ZVG upgrade.
No problems here either. I did not factory reset though I had TOTed back to ZVE a few days before updating.
No problems with mine, either. In fact, I went back to Optimus DE rom and my battery really started draining fast, barely lasting through the day. Then did ZVE tot flash and sideload ZVG update, and battery is back to lasting 2 days and charges normally. Now going to try UltraPOP....
I had problems with fast battery drain and slow charging when I upgraded to Lollipop
Per advice from here, I TOT'ed back to ZVE, wiped the cache, did a factory reset, sideloaded to Lollipop, and did another factory reset. The battery drain problem seems to be gone. I thought the slow charging was fixed but I'm still checking it.
I've got crazy bad lag. It only seems to happen when the phone has been on awhile. Clearing recent programs doesn't seem to make a difference. A reboot will clear it up, but it always comes back. I wish we could get AOSP + latest radios on this damned thing...

This one may be due simply to the memory issues in Lollipop (not G2 related). Lots of articles about the issue online. Unfortunately, no fix available (it remains to be seen if even Android 5.1 has resolved the issue)

My wifi speed has declined a lot under Lollipop. I'm rooted. How can I disable IP6 to see if that is the problem?

I don't see this lag at all. I updated via ota zip and cleared dalvik cache before updating. A factory reset will do you well.
Wifi speed increase
I used Disable IPv6 on my phone and it did not solve my speed and connection problems. Very low internet speed and from time to time dropping and then reconnecting to my home router. However, I disabled IPv6 on my router, and now my speed is back to normal. So disabling IPv6 on my router and my LG G2 seems to have resolved this lollipop bug.
