[Q] Overnight Battery Issues - Sony Smartwatch 3

I've been having this issue with my watch. See the attached screenshot. Battery life literally takes a dive overnight and my two day battery life is being shortened. I haven't been able to solve this thing. I tried resetting the watch, restarts, yelling at it.., nothing worked. Anyone have similar issues?

Most likely an app that's messing things up. Either uninstall all apps an reinstall one by one or just factory reset.

I've had a similar problem with mine, was at 70% at 11PM, and I woke up at 7% at 7.15AM.
What I found out was the culprit was the "tilt to wake" option in the Android Wear app.
Well, that's not the actual thing to blame, it's more than I tend to move a lot during the night, and the watch waking up hundreds of times made the battery fall under 15% even if it wasn't connected or if it hadn't received any notification (I keep the phone in airplane mode at night).
Try that, you'll see that you'll leave your watch at 70% at night, and you'll find it at 68% in the morning.

another option
You can put the watch in theater mode before going to bed too. Double click the side button to enter and exit it. I like the tilt to wake but also toss and turn at night, plus the girlfriend kept slapping my wrist during the night to turn off the "blinding light " lol

Tried and Tried
So I've been trying to see if any application was messing it up. I don't put my watch on at night. I leave it on my desk. At around the 25% mark, the battery always takes a dive, I've noticed this multiple occasions. So, I kept track of the watch at 25% to see what happens? It's like a countdown every minute battery level decreases 1% till zero. I have no idea if this is a bug on my phone but I can't solve it. I requested a new SW3 from google. Should come in tomorrow. Really frustrating to see that battery percentage dip like that.

Hmmmmm, I have noticed similar and in fact had it last night.
Now if I just take it off and go to bed then all's fine, last night I turned it off at about 40% left, turned it back on and it was down to 11% and popping up battery warnings.
Only seems to do it if I turn it off which is wierd.

[SOLVED][Q] Battery issues?

Wondering if anyone else has had any battery issues? I went to sleep last night with about 85% or more battery, and 5.5 hours later my phone was dead....when i plugged it in for like 5 minutes to call my work and tell them i was going to be late...when i got to work my phone said 45% phone idle and 45% cell standby for battery use
none here - took phone off charger about midnight, this morning after alarm rang for the full 10 minutes, it still showed 100%
i've been watching it and am really impressed with battery life - is it possible you've got a program running in the background? - i had Startup Auditor to stop apps in the background but had that from before, on my Vibrant
on the vibrant, running a predominantly black wallpaper, screen brightness at 13%, putting phone in "airplane mode" when i sleep, keeping GPS off, data sync off etc, it'd be down to 17-22% at end of day before going back on charger
this G2, running live wallpaper (thunderstorm), no efficiency moves (ie GPS off, etc), screen brightness at 50%, phone still had 34% last night before going back on the charger - and the battery has not "conditioned" - i noticed on the past 2 phones batteries life got better after the first few weeks of use.
Nothing different than my nexus...and i was thinking maybe it was a game but that should have been killed automatically and i dont think it would say phone standby and cell idle if it was an app would it?
tonite you might try putting the phone in airplane mode when you go to bed, and turn off GPS
see what happens to battery drain overnite - if it diminishes then i'd look at what apps you've installed. there was an article on engadget not too long ago that some researchers had analyzed the 358 most popular apps, and found 30 were reporting data to their "mothership" that had not declared it or asked for permission to report data.
hope that helps
well another weird thing is, that when i bought the phone and brought it home, usually it comes with half battery and thats what it showed but i had to charge it quick with no apps really installed on it yet...Im charging now and will test to see what happens with battery...i just removed off alot of my apps.... to see whats up
I'm getting about 10 hours with regular usage though I wish I knew why Photobucket keeps starting everytime i kill it.
I hope you guys charged the phone fully before you used it first. That can play a big role in battery life.
I got my phone yesterday and haven't done any calibrations yet. I've been playing with it like you normally would if you buy a new smartphone. I took it off the charger around 9pm last night and at 7:32am right now I have about 60% left. So roughly 10.5 hours later and I've only lost about 40%. I'm very impressed by that. My vibrant would have been dead by now, it rarely lasts through the night if its not on the charger.

What's your time with out signal, sounds like the 50% bug to me, google the airplane mode fix, if not you might want to look into a new radio, and you should allways recal your battery after you flash

Battery died overnight at 70%

I searched all over trying to find a similar situation, but I couldn't, so I'm starting a new thread.
My HTC One X is a little over a month old and so far I haven't had any major battery issues.
I charged my phone to full yesterday (during the day) and when I went to sleep it was in the 90% range.
As you can see in the attachment, around 6 am the phone completely shut off. It went from 70 to 0% battery in a matter of seconds. I plugged it back in this morning and it's been charging fine.
It doesn't seem to be a temperature issue either. I'm really at a loss for what could have caused this issue. Any advice?
I've had my one x since the US release date and mine has done this to me about 10 times now. My phone is always charged before I go to bed and I always kill all running programs on the task manager before bed. It's a real pain when you wake up in the morning and check the time, find your phone is dead, and see that you have overslept your alarm. 1st world problem I know but this is a huge pain when it happens. I'm pretty tired of it.tempted to see if I can trade up for an SIII. Btw, mine did this for the 1st time the 2nd night I had the phone. My old BB could go to sleep on low battery and it wouldn't die overnight.
Maybe the phone is looking for updates? Maybe lte is the issue?
I am having the same issue for two nights in a row now. Last night, the phone had 50% battery, and I turned off almost everything, wifi, data, most of applications. The phone still died this morning. I called HTC support today, and they said if you leave the phone in sleep mode with 50%, it won't last until the next day. I had my phone a little over a month. I am going to fully charge tonight, and see if it dies over night again.
Hello all! I am having the same problem too. I can have the phone in my pocket at school from 9am-9pm during a normal day and with some light usage, have the battery last the whole time. However if I use the phone in bed while falling asleep, get tired and lock the phone with like 70% battery, it will be dead in the morning. If I look at the battery usage graph, it too shows an instant 70%-0% battery change. Is it a battery conditioning problem? Meaning that the phone is not able to properly gauge the battery's current level of charge and thinks it still has 70% left but then just dies?
Couldn't see pics on my HOX. My ides wouldn't mean much. I sorry guys.

I think this is a more serious problem. I charge my phone over night.
Slept in this morning because because my battery died overnight.
It was on charge. How does the battery die.
Pressing power did nothing
Held for ten secs to force reboot
it booted up and showed 0% and started charging normally
Wtf

Sorry about reviving this thread but this happened to me 3 times now.. I have an S4 HTC One X but have the same problem. Had the issue on both a custom from and on stock. Is there a known fix for this?
this happened to me too. about five times. i charge my phone to full just before i sleep and unplug it when i decide to sleep only to wake up with the phone dead(and I am late for work). I always make sure I close apps every night before I sleep. But ever since I updated my phone to 2.17, I have had nothing but buttery smoothness and 16-22hrs of battery life.
This is my second One X. It happens to me about once a week. Everything is great and suddenly battery charge is dropping like crazy. There's nothing running in the background that would trigger this behavior. My first phone worked great but one day just died and would never power on again.

Figured out my poor battery life.

Ive noticed this phone loves to turn on the display for any reason it can think of. That is not the bad part tho. The default lock screen can be swiped any where, and in my pocket this is bad. I did a test with my palm to simulate the my leg in my pocket. If the screen wakes up for any reason, SMS notification, easy to hit power button, Low battery notification (this one i don.t get) and you hold your palm on the screen and it detects it, it will hold the screen on indefinitely without unlocking it if it lands in the right place.
This is what i imagine going on in my pocket.

I have replied to texts, made phone calls, even turned the flash light on in my pocket and ran the battery down before lunch.
I use this "pattern security" so I'm not threatened by this "unwanted phone call making" and stuffs like that, but my battery life still seems to be poor. I noticed that if I leave the device on WiFi, then it drains about 30%/night (approx. 10 hours). But last night I tried turning off wifi and data--> only 2% of battery percentage went down during the same time (10 hours!!). !!
What do you think causes this strange battery draining through the internet(wifi or data?)? The syncing, or some specifig program, or just the fact that it's connected to the web? it's very strange.
edit: of course I checked the battery stats, but there everything seemed to be normal..

I really have no idea. I had this phone since release and it's always had mediocre battery life at best. This is my second Samsung android phone, The original Galaxy being the first and i wasn't to satisfied with that one either. I received a new phone yesterday (Experia TL) so the i927 has been sitting idle. Before i put it down i did a factory reset and pulled the sim. It lost 45% of the battery since yesterday morning. Any of my HTCs would last weeks in this state. So far the TL seems like it runs off magic pixie dust compared to the i927 lol.

My battery can go pretty quickly when I get the l2_hsic wakelock. Around 5%/hr while it idle (though I do leave wifi on). It appears randomly - some days not at all, some after a few hours of being on. The only solution I've found is to shut it off and pull the battery for a minute and hope it doesn't come back on the next boot. Searching didn't pull up much except its known on a few Samsung phones. Does BBS show anything under kernel wakelock for you?

Screen freeze

Anyone elses screen freezing at times. I don't know if it's the watchmaker app or the 5.0.2 update.
Yep, my watch will freeze while tracking my running sometimes--especially if I have music playing over BT at the same time. It doesn't happen often, maybe 1/10 times. Started happening for me after the 5.0 update -- didn't really matter what watchface or GPS tracker I was using.
The watch locked up, 5.01 ..... very rarely but it happened pressed the button 10 seconds or so to force a reset.
So far 5.02 is fine
Also running Watchmaker, and I'm having freezing issues here and there. In the screen shot below, I charged the watch to 100% right before bed, woke up around 7am with plenty to of battery life, then around 8am it froze up and wouldn't even reset. Eventually it died like it was out of battery, when it came back up it initially showed zero battery, then after a while on battery it charged back up and is operating fine.
I guess I'll uninstall watchmaker and run without it for a few days. Sad, I love the calendar agenda feature...
This has happened to me twice. Once while out on a run and another when just going about my day. Hope it gets fixed soon because it messed up my fitness tracking and I lost about 4 miles of a run.

I have had the exact same thing happen twice this week, both times while I was just going about my morning routine, not using any watch functions. No amount of button pressing will revive it and the battery discharges after a few hours. Once charged it will reboot normally.
It's happened before but not very regularly and I don't remember it happening before I installed Watchmaker.

How I solved my battery consumption

Hello,
I´ve got my ZenWatch 1 week ago and am very happy with this beautiful gadget. But there is/was one thing that disturbed my daily enjoyment:
The battery life.
After a normal 14 hours day the battery dropped from 100% to 10-15%. I use the always on feature and had round about 3-6 notifications per hour. Also I´ve toggled the connection to my phone (OnePlusOne) on all time.
And after 2 days I started trying to get a better battery life without disabling every nice feature (Must have is the always on feature and I need my notifications).
I tracked every full hour the current battery status and changed on a daily basis the configuration and the watch faces to find the best way between battery consumption and a normal usage.
My results are:
The most battery eater is the connection to my phone inclusivly the notifications and watchface-updates like weather etc.
I solved this problem, using Tasker on my phone, enabling BT every hour for 1 minute to let the notifications fly to my watch automatically. That saved 30-50% battery life the day!!!!
Also I do use a watch face supporting the Low-Bit-Feature, which "turns off" black pixels in dimmode. Battery safer! (10%-30%)
Today my setting is this:
Watchface: Watch Face - Minimal & Elegant
BT on every 1 hour for 1 minute to get notifications
Screen is always on
tilt to wake is off
And today after 14 hours normal usage I´ve unbelivable 64% of my battery (never charged!).
I hoped I could help you!
P.s. this was my first thread!
watch comes of the charger at 6am and when it goes back on at around 11pm I'm generally at 35-40% battery. I've got the screen in always on mode with tilt to wake on, and a facer watch face that updates weather. I'd say I get 30-50 notifications in a day so I'm not sure why your battery is so bad

The thing that would bug me about that would be the "no connection" icon showing on the watch face most of the time. I don't suppose there's anything you can do to suppress that, is there?

I have not found a solution for that.

I've never had issues with battery life. If I wear it all day and leave it off of the charger at night, I will wake up with 25-30% battery power left.
There must have been different batteries used in manufacturing. I've never had great battery life, if I leave the always on, brightness to 3 I can get through the day to about 9 pm before it dies if I don't use it for much of anything else except notifications. Since it's summertime I now leave the screen off, brightness to full so that I can actually see the screen in the sunlight. That usually makes quite a bit of difference.
Too great of a difference between half that says they have great battery life and half that says that theirs is horrible. I think there was a manufacturing flaw. I contacted ASUS and they said that if I was able to get 16 hours out a charge it was good enough.
I don't recall getting 16 since I first got mine...this morning it came off the charger at 3:30am - always on with dim watch maker face that one of our members created but I altered a tad, brightness to a 3. there really isn't much I can do with the watch beside check notifications including text messages (so the Bluetooth off 1min on wouldn't work for me). by this afternoon 2:30pm watch was completely dead and off. also since the latest update it disconnects from my phone frequently and when the watch is disconnected I often get the white screen asking if I want to wait or tap ok because its been disconnected. not as happy as I once was with my watch,
