Hi,
I've tried to install Polaris.apk from a SGS2 stock ROM and all went OK.
The problem I've noticed is when opening for example a .doc file....
File has been opened and on screen appears the doc but in the center of the screen also appears a message saying that Polaris is not compatible (I think for modifying the doc instead of read it).
bye bye
I think you have to flash some files through CWM to get full compatibility

Hi there,
I am new to the forums but am wondering if anyone could help me in recovering recorded videos/photos.
My mom recently passed away from cancer and these video files are extremely important to me as it was her last words to me. Before unlocking and rooting my phone, I created a full backup through the Nexus Root toolkit program. However, in restoring the files, it only pushed back a fraction of the files I had on my phone.
Is there any way of restoring all my files or even just the photos and videos? I am completely distraught and I have tried all the data recovery programs for android but unfortunately none of the applications work as the Samsung Galaxy Nexus cannot mount an SD card.
If anyone could provide any input, it would be much appreciated.
My direct contact is: [email protected]
With sincerest regards,
Richard

That's rough. By chance did you have auto upload turned on? If so they should be present on your google account.
Do you still have the backup from the nexus toolkit? Can you explore it for the DCIM directory?

Thank you for such a quick response,
I do have auto upload turned on but I do not know where I can find the files on my google account. I did not see it in my google drive or docs. Should I be looking somewhere specific?

Google recuva. Downloads the program and run it through your device, assuming you haven't over written any files yet. It should recover a majority of the files. I can't count how many times it had saved me. Let us know what happened. Sorry to hear.

Esteway: Unfortunately my device synced to picasa and so there are no albums there aside from a profile picture.

At the moment, I'm completely distraught but I'm planning on bringing it to a computer store to see if they would be able to recover the files. Although none of the methods mentioned above worked, I just want to thank all of you who have responded. I really do appreciate your input and am happy I joined this community.
Just wanted to give everyone a heads up and say that I was able to recover the deleted files by following this guide.

I was feeling for you and trying to thing of a solution as I read through this thread, Undelete came to mind. I am glad you were able to recover the photos! Besides keeping a backup on your comp maybe put copies in Dropbox and/or Photobucket for safe keeping.

Go to settings and select your Google account under accounts and check if it's been selected.
I think I remember reading somewhere that they scrapped that sync option.
Worth taking a look regardless.

Hi,
Thanks for the response. I did recheck those settings.
I have been using the SIII since a couple days ago, my previous device did the same thing, but there was a flashable standalone gallery/camera fix that fixed it.
I tried applying that fix to my SIII, but it didn't work.
Was just if there was the same type of file for the SIII
Thanks
Heeter

Hey,
There is an option to hide your photos in gallery itself. I had few photos hidden but after installing indian kitkat update I can't see the photos. I can see the folders but no thumbnails and can't log in the folder. I am trying to unhide the same but even that does not work.
Effectively I don't have access to the photos now. Please help.
Is anybody else facing the same issue..?
Can anyone help please. I had my professional life screen shots in it. It is very important for me to recover.
Please help.
