[Q] Aluminum back cover - Xiaomi Redmi 1S

Hi.
I think of buying aluminum back cover for my Redmi 1s.But i'm wondering will it interfere with phone signal, wifi signal and all other signals - it is aluminum.
Will the signals be worse?
Anybody have R1s with alu back cover?
Thank you.

yep it interferes with the WiFi signals and reduces it strength
also its quite slippery, easily slips off hand but sure looks beautiful
but as far as mobile signal is concerned I didn't notice any reduction..

Yes alu. back cover causes interference with WIFI signal.

Yes. I have one too. It reduces the strength of Wifi signal, but it makes beautiful your phone

I too had used one , the problem is it makes the phone way too heavy . Just holding it for long calls makes hand hurt.

Agree with user above.
Cases like this make phone heavy and it doesn't fit really well in hand.

how about aluminium battery cover?
any reduction in wifi signal?

Rear case imperfection?

Has anyone here noticed a slight hump on the rear case it location is central on the spine about 2 thirds of the way down. It is a above a recess on the inside of the case which accommodates the plastic retaining lug for the SIM card. Its very minor, I only noticed it when I was rubbing my finger over the case, I just wanted to check with other people to eliminate the possibility its a defect on mine.
Other than this its the best smart-phone I have ever used, well worth the wait as I am a Handtec customer.
Thanks for checking
Have it too, but it is really difficult to spot.
I cannot see it with my eyes, basically only feel and you have to be very careful to notice it even then.
I can't feel or see this if it is there.
only found it because you made me search for it
wish i didnt read this thread. now im going to look for it, find it, and be displeased by it.
Not on mine...
i noticed it the other day as well
it is there but I don`t care.

neither do I, as other people have said it very very minor.
It's a great handset I'm very happy with it and will be more happy when the official screen protectors are available.
if it wasn't there the cover would have to be a couple of mm thicker to accommodate the recess on the inside to clear the plastic lug. I think, on reflection, that this was a good idea on HTCs part.

Maybe you have particularly fat SIM cards?

Thanks for the links!
I think it will be bad for our gps
Would like to hear from someone who has already purchased one of these before i get one, look nice though.

check dealextreme/focalprice.com that you probably get lower prices

I would strongly recommend to think about how hot our phone is in games like Asphalt 6 and imagine how hot it will be if u use metal cover. Don't get you fingers burned.

Now, you can actually literally "feel" the engine moving in Asphalt 6, or more like burning

yes ... but .. I heard it could cause problems
I have the same case, but in black. It works well to protect the phone. The bundled screen protector is crap though
Silicon case & wifi/gps-reception
I use a much thicker rubber case, which adds more grip to the smooth aluminium and never experienced any issiues.
but I found this Post/Thread and can confirm that the Wifi and/or GPS reception is better without any case!

This case is good, I had a bag like case with aluminum protection in it, but after a while It's skin damaged and aluminum makes my phone scratchy!
Now I use such the first post cover + a screen protector!
Sorry for very bad English!
I have the feeling that my silicone case messes GPS signal

Car sticky pads and One?

Ok I found out a very nice way to hold my One in my car, though I dunno if someone tried it with the One which is the first Android phone to be in aluminum, and I wonder if we can use it horizontally

I have something like that in my car, however I always have a plastic case on and it sticks on there no problem, issues with this pad is that over time dust will gather and you will have to wash it, but when you do it becomes sticky again.
I don't know if I can trust this pad to hold my phone well. What if I suddenly hit the brakes hard and the device falls on its face and breaks or like right out of the window? Maybe I am just too paranoid. Ha ha!
i found mine lost stick way too quick, too much hassle to repeatedly wash. I turfed it.
I think this pads have magnetic + rubber coating so that it catch phones,I have read in the comments that phones are like glued to the pad!
I hope so because our Lebanese roads are very bumpy

If you can snag some, look into Pugoo. Fully washable, quite strong, and easy to remove.
I something similar to this for my S3 and it worked very well in keeping it in place; however, when I switched to my HTC One it no longer sticks well at all, probably because of the aluminum casing. I always use my phone without a case and was never worried about my S3 unsticking, but I wouldn't use it with my HTC One unless it was in a plastic case.

As with all metal cases/battery covers, NFC most likely will not work.
Why doesn't the seller shows the front of the case?
I also go with what dagglord said.
I had an aluminium case but my GPS became a disaster. Losing the signal very often.
I have the same case right now. Been using it for a week now and I really love the look of it.
But there's always a "but"...
Wifi and cellular connection are noticably weeker, NFC no longer works and I couldn't get a GPS lock after 1 minute in open sky view.
I will try to get refunded as the case now comes with white labels and it was not shown on ebay listing.

a pity for the signal loss. I really am not a fan of the plastic design of the S3 , it has got better with the S5 for instance but still.
That is a sexy case... too bad it messes with all signals
I've had some metal cases in the past and aside from the signal strength depreciation, I've had problems with them both cosmetically and functionally. I avoid them usually.
nice case
They look cool, but they are not practical.
1. Caused very bad reception issues with GPS, radio, and Wifi.
2. They claim they are sturdy, but I've had at least 4 of them from different manufacturers. The outside walls around the phone aren't strong, they dent very easy, and scratch easy too.
3. A lot of screen protectors bubble up due to pressure from the case.
4. Some cables for charging or audio do not fit in the precut slots.
You're actually better off just getting a plastic or rubber case.
