By default, Google play store will update your apps automatically. You have to change this if you don't want it from happening again in the future every time there's an update available for an app. To do this simply go to play store, settings and change to "do not auto update apps". Keep in mind that apps like Google play store, play services will update automatically without notice. You're phone will be updating lots of apps since you just purchased it. It's recommended to connect via WiFi and take care of this once in for all.
So you're saying they start but never actually update? Try restarting your phone, also make sure mobile data is turned on under mobile networks. And yes it will go much quicker on WiFi.

Look at some of the bigger apps. Sometimes they hang and wait for wifi connection (if you are updating over LTE or 3G). Go into the playstore>my apps. In there find the bigger apps and stop the update on them. I found stuff like GMAIL hang for the wifi update as well as some of the other google apps. Hope this helps a lil.
So thank you all for your help yes I have my data on I made sure in all my settings are correct I get LTE I can use other apps that can use the web but it's just Play Store that we won't work for me right now so I will do what you say and check for bigger updates or just do it over wifi when I get home thanks to everyone!

Hi guys,
I was wondering if your Play Store app shows only apps for you, or do you also see books, music and magazines.
Mines shows only apps, tapping the Play logo doesn't do anything:

When I go into browser on my pc, I see everything there:
Although here in Germany we only see apps and books usually I can approve that I could see both an hour ago and now the books pattern is gone.
Edit: back again
I had to reset to factory the phone, in order to get it working again.
I had the same problem
I had the exact same problem on my HTC One S, which by the way is an amazing phone, but I could solve this without factory reseting it. One of the things I did was deleating the cache of the google play store. If this doesnt work you can deleate all the data of the store without deleating other files on the phone, and I think that should solve the problem.

I haven't experienced that problem on any ROM I've tried. Are you in the US? Or are you using a VPN server or proxy server in another country?
It's not a bug, it's a feature. I wish it would show only apps to me. It is very annoying to see books and songs in search results for "angry birds" or whatever.

Anyone else seeing high background wifi data use by allshare service? I have had my att note 2 for less than a week and it shows 666 mb of data. I have noticed a couple times where this service is killing my battery untill i force close it. I tried to disable in app settings but it wouldnt let me. I have never actually used this service for anything.

If you are willing to root your device you will be able to dosable this app or uninstall it. The reason you cannot disable it is they have balled their bloatware into the system apps. Those are the ones you cannot disable it in settings and apps.
You can use tibu or any other means to uninstall it
Ya figured I could if I rooted, but not doing that until I'm for sure keeping the phone. Only one week into owning and haven't decided 100% yet.

in that case you may want to just try a good ol fashioned battery pull and disable background data and processes in the settings menu.
Thanks for the advice but actually already done both. The data has only gone up by about 10mb since yesterday though. It's not a big deal just trying to figure out why that much data is being transfered for a service I have never used.

have you tried disabling allowing the phone to use your location for informatioon gathering, stuff like that will also affect background processes.
Hey guys,
Hoping someone might be able to provide some insight for me on this. Please see the attached image. I have not opened the Maps application once. I noticed it was being a power hog about an hour ago and even force stopped it, but it persisted. Anyone had a similar experience/have an idea for a fix?

These cant be disabled... I only see the choice of caching when on wifi or wifi/3g and it says that its only active when charging, so wont be that surely?
Location services could well have an effect but you will lose the functionality of Google Services, google now etc.
I have all the location based stuff active and dont have the issue.
Could it be another app that is using Google Maps to obtain data and keeping it awake?
Yeah, as you said I can't disable them. I can't imagine what it is. Location services wouldn't have that much of an effect. Not sure what to do here. Thinking of trying a fresh install of a diff rom. Currently running CleanRom
Hey guys,
So I read an article or two about the Google Play Store being updated and now there should be apps optimized for Tablets on the store front page listed under a tab for Tablet apps. I have yet to see this update, feature or anything related on my Galaxy note 10.1 2014. Anyone have any info on this? Please respond if you do, thanks.

I had the same issue with my old tf700. In settings -> app manager uninstall updates and clear data for the following, Google Play, Google Play Services and Hangouts. Then make sure auto update is enabled and reboot. When the Hangouts update is detected you should get a notice that the Google service needs to be updated. Once that's done reboot again, eventually the Play Store app should get updated.
hi
I just put my hands on the s20 ultra, sadly Facebook and Google play never stop running on background even though i turn the option to put them to sleep on. I attached img so you can see, hope you guys know how to help me.

There's no way to fix this? Only to wait for an update?

Thats the only way I was able to sort it,there was also a thread somewhere on s10+ with tons of battery saving things to do not sure if they changed anything cant remember
I got mine to stop in settings, device care, battery, app power management, deep sleep apps. And I just added the apps I did not want running in the background, so far it keeps them off unless I go into it and when I leave the app it gets put to sleep.
