Anyone else seeing high background wifi data use by allshare service? I have had my att note 2 for less than a week and it shows 666 mb of data. I have noticed a couple times where this service is killing my battery untill i force close it. I tried to disable in app settings but it wouldnt let me. I have never actually used this service for anything.

If you are willing to root your device you will be able to dosable this app or uninstall it. The reason you cannot disable it is they have balled their bloatware into the system apps. Those are the ones you cannot disable it in settings and apps.
You can use tibu or any other means to uninstall it
Ya figured I could if I rooted, but not doing that until I'm for sure keeping the phone. Only one week into owning and haven't decided 100% yet.

in that case you may want to just try a good ol fashioned battery pull and disable background data and processes in the settings menu.
Thanks for the advice but actually already done both. The data has only gone up by about 10mb since yesterday though. It's not a big deal just trying to figure out why that much data is being transfered for a service I have never used.

have you tried disabling allowing the phone to use your location for informatioon gathering, stuff like that will also affect background processes.

Guys
My titanium backup pretty much gets stuck on different apps every week. This time, it's hung up at 73% on shopsavvy 5.0.5, an app which I barely use and was definitely not open.I could start removing apps but it hangs on a different app each week
Anybody else seen these problems?
Thx

I have. Not sure why but it will just randomly get stuck on an app until I force close it.
How do you force close it?

On some ROMs you can go into Developer Options and enable long press back to force close which is the easiest way. Or just go into your phone's Settings --> Apps then find Titanium and select force close. Or if using the stock launcher just drag it from your app drawer to your home screen where it says App Info.
It looks like they may have fixed it.

Hey guys,
Hoping someone might be able to provide some insight for me on this. Please see the attached image. I have not opened the Maps application once. I noticed it was being a power hog about an hour ago and even force stopped it, but it persisted. Anyone had a similar experience/have an idea for a fix?

Thanks for the quick response. Can you tell me how to execute those tasks?
Go into maps app and settings
Also disabling location services could help

These cant be disabled... I only see the choice of caching when on wifi or wifi/3g and it says that its only active when charging, so wont be that surely?
Location services could well have an effect but you will lose the functionality of Google Services, google now etc.
I have all the location based stuff active and dont have the issue.
Could it be another app that is using Google Maps to obtain data and keeping it awake?
Yeah, as you said I can't disable them. I can't imagine what it is. Location services wouldn't have that much of an effect. Not sure what to do here. Thinking of trying a fresh install of a diff rom. Currently running CleanRom
Sorry if this was answered somewhere, but search didn't return any results.
I don't even know what to call it.. It's the second slider right under the brightness one. What the heck is it?

Never seen it before neither have I see an option to enable it anywhere. I'm using the leaked MI6 4.3 rom. Was it there by default?

There is a bug in google backup service
There is a bug in google backup service, google backup service acquires wfii connectivity lock and does not release it for hours which prevents device entering deep sleep and as a result drains battery. Fortunately you can disable backup in Settings->Accounts->Backup and Reset-> uncheck 'Backup my data'. This should resolve the issue ... after a full recharge monitor your battery stats - Android OS should NOT be on the top.

After some investigation I've came to a conclusion that the problem is in the wifi manager itself. In normal case this lock should be held no more that 1-2 seconds for the entire battery charge. I've developed an application that will give an automated solution for this problem.

I'm hoping someone knows what's going on here and can help asap...
I upgraded my Sprint SGS3 using Samsung Keis the other day and all seems well, except this one big issue. Randomly (it seems whenever I get a notification, or the connection state changes, or I plug into power)the notification bar fills up with the "Download Complete" msgs. This is an issue because I can't see legit notifications in the bar, and/or I have to scroll to the bottom to see anything.
These file names *ARE* for files I had downloaded in the past, but not since well before the upgrade. I have gone so far as to delete the 'Downloads' folder altogether, no dice. Also, it isn't actually downloading the files again, just saying it did...
Any idea how I can stop this? Rebooting the phone is not helping at all. Is there maybe a cache somewhere I can clear that would help? This is a new SGS3 (replacement), so I just got finished resetting up my layout and all my apps and stuff, so I would **REALLY** like to avoid wiping it to factory...
Any help is appreciated. Thank You... :good:

Happened to me too, I think I fixed it by clearing data on download manager. If that doesn't do it try clearing data on Play store (not play services).
My wife has exact problem on hers.
Edit; clearing old downloads WORKS! Thx.

Yup, cleaning the downloads did it! Thank you, Sir! Much appreciated... :good::cyclops:
Alright, long time epic 4g touch user, and a while back i reported one lost and got another. I found it yesterday and have decided to basically turn it into a media player. So I need to know if it is safe to uninstall some of the stock applications baked blackbean. I want to remove telephone, messaging, stock browser, 4g settings, and possibly a other things. Does anyone have insight as to whether or not this will cause instability?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
All of the apps mentioned will cause massive force closes if deleted, basically rendering it unusable.

I will be releasing an update to the rom here soon with a script to disable the radio so you can just remove whatever regular apps that you don't want. But I agree, if you start removing the core system apps, it's going to cause a lot of problems. It has incredible battery life. Monitor the thread and we'll see how it goes.

He was asking about Baked Black Bean (AOSP)
Well, that answers my question. I'll disable their auto runs, and hide them in nova launcher. And I'll look at that rom, because if it's as good as you say it might be my new daily driver.
