[Q] I8160XXNA1 I8160BTUNA1 Jelly bean Custom Kernel - Galaxy Ace II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I downloaded
[Kernel][3.0.31] D- Kernel (09/09/2013) and put it onto my external drive. Started recovery mode. wiped the cache. In applying update from external storage, at stage: verifying update package, the error message is E:signature verification failed.
Any ideas why it failed?

This usually happens due to archive corruption. Try to redownload the kernel archive file.

[q] broken recovery?

Hello experienced gurus out there, I am in need of some help tonight.
Here is my scenario:
I started out tonight with a stock rooted INC. I saw the thread for the new Skyraider and thought I would try and install it. I went ahead and pushed the PB31IMG to unroot and go back to bare bones stock. I rebooted and then installed Verizon's OTA as instructed in the thread on how to upgrade the radio. I then removed the PB31IMG from my SD card and installed the Dinc_OTA file to upgrade the radio. That went through fine and I double-checked to make sure the baseband version was correct which it was. Next, I rooted using UNrevoked 3 and then make a Nand backup immediately after. I rebooted the phone and then set up my Google account and downloaded Rom Manager from the Market. I flashed the ClockworkMod from ROM manager and then proceeded to Install ROM from SD card option. It goes into recovery and I see a screen with a red exclamation point and the little Android guy and then I hit vol up + Power to go to the recovery menu. I selected install zip from SD and then selected the Skyraider zip and confirmed installation.
It started going through files and in the end gives me a message that says "Installation aborted"
Here is what it actually says on the screen in its entirety (in case this helps):
ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.1
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to seek /cache/update.zip (Invalid argument)
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
--Installing: SDCARD:SkyRaider2.2Vanilla.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
Thats it...
The first time I tried this, instead of hitting install from SD, I rebooted it to check the system version and then went to ROM manager again. Aas soon as it started it came up with this message that gave three options it seemed. One said "broken" recovery" and I forget what the other said, but it gave a link to email the developer Koush.. something. I clicked where it said broken recovery and then tried installing ROM from SD again in ROM manager. It brought me to the Recovery screen and thats when I went into the Recovery Menu and tried pushing the file from there and then got the installation aborted message that I typed out up there^^^
What should I do? Try to re-install ClockworkMod? Revert back to the old radio and then start from scratch? Anybody in the know please help me.
I reflashed Unrevoked and now SkyRaider IS installing. Just a glitch I guess, although I DID have Superuser before.

SGS 2 wont load a ROM

Ok i flashed my S2 to XXKG1 then flashed with CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_KG1-v4.1-CWM4.tar
I then flashed with GT-I9100_ClockworkMod-Recovery_4.0.1.4.tar
I have CWM app and SuperUser App and Rom Manager Premium.
I backed up my ROM fine using CWM app. I downloaded CyanogenMod from Rom Manager. Picked Install from SD. my phone askes me to backup and clear cach, when the phone reboots it just reboots to android with a (/!\ android man) Image. If i press vol key the menu will appear clockworkmod recovery v4.0.1.4 (its orange).
error:
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aboarted
Thats as far as i can get, if i chose install zip from sd and select the cm_galaxys2_full-64.zip
error:
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aboarted
What am i doing wrong here? Im rooted, i have CWM, i have the ROM, ????
Now i'm not a SGS2 user, but IMHO you should:
a) try to download the ROM file again, maybe something went wrong and the file you have downloaded is incomplete or damaged;
b) disable signature check from CWM.
Thanks for replying. wers disable sig check in cwm i cant see it lol

Do you have premium version of RomManager? I heard doing stuff from recovery can cause problems through there. And CM7 is still in beta debugging mode so i would not install till there is a stable version. Bluetooth does not work on it everything else does but still not as stable as it should be...
Try flashing a different rom you can find quite a few close to cm7 in the thread section of gs2
Tried a different rom got exactly the same,
I bought rom manager yes
Hi, I'm facing the same problem with SGS2 GT I9100 running on XXKG6
I'm new, so can't post links, Please google disabling CWM Signature check.
Supposedly disabling the signature verification on CWM should fix the issue.
I'll need to get home and check if this fixes the problem or not.
please let me know if this works for you!!

I cant remember it now, but im thinking it said that the verification failed and aborted
You could boot into recovery and try flashing the rom again too see what error it was, it could be that you need to just upload the bootloader.
Do you have a micro sd card? do you have a micro sd card reader for your computer? If so, download a rom and gapps (if required), put the files on the mico sd card and put the micro sd card back in your phone, boot into recovery, do a full wipe and flash the rom and then gapps (if needed).

Looks like it was a bad download. You need to download the rom again (make sure its for your device) along with the gapps.
boot into recovery and do a full wipe
install rom then gapps
then reboot the phone.
In the future you should check the md5 of the download before flashing it. If the md5 matches then you okay to flash, if it doesnt match, then theres something wrong with the download. Just google "check md5", then go from there.

[Q] Trouble installing Gapps ACE II cm11 4.4.4 (status 7)

SOLVED read below
I was just installing cm11.0_codina.nova.20140623 (mclaw) from stock 4.1 without any alternation, following instructions:
Reboot to recovery mode
Select "Wipe data / Factory Reset"
Select "Install the zip from External Storage"
Choose the CM zip file: -> cm11.0_codina.nova.20140623 (mclaw)
Choose the GApps zip file: -> pa_gapps-modular-micro-4.4.4-20140620-signed
and get the message after mounting system...
file_getprop: failed to start "/system/build.prop": No such file or directory
E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip
(status 7)
What's going wrong, also tried the mini gapps , same message, both checked md5.
So just to be clear i have nothing extra installed like CWM as it is not stated in tutorial. Just with the native bootmenu as it is.
So what can i try next? It boots fine but without gapps its not complete.
EDIT:
I've rebooted and now came in different bootmenu where the installation went fine, so i guess it needed a reboot what was missing in instructions.

Code:
Warning:
Do not try to install the Google Apps package via Stock Recovery or you might get “signature verification” error, and if installed it might create internal conflicts. If you have to update a Google app, do it via Google Play Store or by installing the APK file manually if you have it.

HTC One M8 - Unusual Recovery Error

Hello,
I am fairly experienced with the rooting-type-thing.. However, recently I was running a little short on storage so I purchased a microSD card. This required formatting (as expected), unknown to me this would also format my internal SD which resulted in my Backups and ROMs being deleted.
I decided to just do the usual and try to adb sideload a new rom, it failed. I then tried an otg cable and flashed a rom from there. I received the error:
Additionally: I am attemping flash with both signature verification and md5sum check enabled. Have also tried with them disabled and same error.
E: footer is wrong
E: signature verification failed
E: installation aborted.
I have no idea what this means and I am approaching 2 days without a phone now. Please Help.
Matt
