My z1 compact is not charging through the usb connector and whenever I charge it there is no lightning bolt indicator indicating that its charging and also the stamina mode icon beside the battery disappears whenever I plug it.
I never submerged it in water nor it was dropped or had any kind of damage, the only thing I suspect is the charger I am using, I am not using the default charger rather I am using a samsung charger, 1st I had it checked to a friend of mine who is a cellphone technician and a very good one, he told me that xperia phones especially z series are prone to this kinds of damage when using other charger or class a replica chargers, then I recalled that I was indeed using a fake charger and remembered that during that time there was a sudden disconnection of electricity or sudden blackout and sudden reconnection of electricity, fake charger cant handle sudden electricity changes so it might had and impact on my phone, so I sent it to sony center and waited for 3 weeks (minimum waiting time) then I received a call from them to pick up my phone but it was not repaired because the problem is in the board and it would be xpensive to repair (I have no more warranty) like buying a new unit they said,my phone still connects to my pc and I noticed that when I charge it my battery is not discharging but also not charging fast enough because I was charging it for 24 hours and it only went up for 1%, from 7% to 8%, then I left it for another 24 hours but the percentage is not moving up, I can still connect it through my pc though, who does have this kind of problem?
also will my phone charge when I charge it through the magnetic dock?I dont have any friends who have a magnetic dock so i cant check it and if I will buy one and it does not work then its another waste of money, since sony cant fix it anymore does that mean that my phone now will just be a paper weight,i am really disappointed, hope somebody could help me..tia
I'm using Samsung charger from time to time when I forget my xperia charger and have similar problem but in my case when my battery lvl is up to 98% led turn off and my phone won't charge anymore but when I plug stock charger everything is normal and my phone is charged to 100%

Do you know anyone with a Sony phone and see if their charger works on your phone?
Seems likely that your Samsung charger might have damaged the usb port, but the magnetic charging port is separate.
The cost of a magnetic clip will be cheaper than a new phone or sending it back for repair. Also using the magnetic clip saves ware and tare on the waterproof usb cover that you keep pulling off/on to charge it.

the charger I was using works on my moms z1 and also the xperia charger that came with my z1 compact works on my moms z1..
I already bought a magnetic charger and checked it first on my moms and it works fine but on my z1 compact its just like when I plug it in the usb port, still no charging bolt icon, the stamina mode icon on the battery disappears,I guess it realy is a board problem,my phone is useless now, this is a very bad experience for me and I love sony products, use to have x8 to x10 mini phones but theyre dependable, not like what I have experienced with the z1 compact,I think I will not buy anymore sony products

well its quite simple, other phones are not "sensitive" like this, other brands like samsung,lg even htc and blackberry doesnt have any problems when using other charger besides the charger that came with it,I can prove that because I also own other brands,if Sony's items are so premium then why is it so sensitive like that? are they using cheap parts but sell their products at a high price because theyre struglling you know thats why they sold their vaio brand and will not make anymore laptops, next would be the smartphones, and its just not me,I found out that I am not alone in experiencing this problems,o well, better move on,it has been great sony, tnx
I have the same problem with charging. It start 2 days ago, and I was using only Sony charger, but it just stopped charging. In one moment I heat it up with a hair drier and it start charging , and when it gets cold it stopped. I heat it up again and start charging again. :/ This is more than unusual !!! :/ What it could be?

this is related to this problem http://forum.xda-developers.com/son...ttery-reporting-phone-dying-suddenly-t3095120
It will be solved with battery substitution.
Mine won't charge, stuck on 50%, when connected even the red light isn't on, you can see in the image
I bought a used Z1 compact and it didn't come with a charger. Used my LG and wouldn't charge. Tried different leads still not charging using adapter charger via usb port. Began charging using usb on laptop? Then used my wifes apple charger via usb port and charging!
I use the standard charger (the one with 2 'lumps' on the cable, but occasionally another cable (whichever lands in my hand). All ok until 6 months ago, when I replaced the battery . It was Ok for a while, but then I had to start using the magnetic charger.
Today I checked the usb charge point for dust etc., and now it is charging on its own usb charger! I happened to use a needle, but don't recommend it. Maybe a plastic toothpick, or cocktail sausage stick? A toothpick is too big, and might leave splinters.
z1 compact d5503 wont charge or turn on
i bought this model off ebay and rooted it and installed the custom rom and it's working beautifully...until i used it to 0 power. the charger then wouldn't charge it. i waited an hour and nothing, i got the three vibrations when i hit power and up but the nothing again. my solution...i rummaged through my old chest and found another micro sd charger. put it in and BAM the red light at the top went solid. my problem was the charger cable.

How much moisture do you think it takes to short out an electrical circuit?
For water to have gotten in the case far enough to damage the battery, it would have ruined more than that.
Did the phone stay on after you dropped it? Then no, it's not your battery.
Have you tried just letting the phone sit, off, and dry out, before trying it again?

Hi thanks 4 ur reply yes the phone stayed on after it was working fine till I put the charging in it. It would not charge the battery.
Just let it sit out over night...take the back cover off and battery out and just let it sit around...or if you have a blow dryer you can try that but dont put it to close

Good advice, but I'll just amend it to say ... ONLY when the battery is OUT. In fact, be sure to give it a few minutes after trying that before booting it back up. And, only point it at the back cover, it could easily have negative effects on the screen.
Hi appreciate the help everyone yeah I left battery out last night it still won't charge this morning, I am using the usb to adapter that came with the phone 2 charge it. This happen once with my HTC 8125 & I had to get a original charger to bring the phone back to life no charger will charge it but the original after u can use anyone, I will update u later and c how that worked out.
Hi guys on found this online on ppctechs.com it says "In some cases, your HTC Touch Pro 2 will not charge from an AC/DC adapter or other charging accessory when the battery life is below 30 percent."
Are you trying to charge from a USB port or an AC adapter?
Maybe the USB port is bad.
Do you have another charger to try?

Hi I try usb to adapter that came with the phone 3 different wall chargers and still not charging, last 2 try is a car charger don't have one and there is 1 ft of snow outside
Hi I ordered a new battery & a battery wall charger off ebay when I get it I will update u on how things when.
Hi I got the wall charger battery is fine I think I have a faulty usb port cuz the phone still won't charge or connect via usb can it be u need software to charge
have the same issue (didnt drop it in snow though) it won't charge via usb or car charger.
So you got a new battery and still won't charge via USB?
Mine connects to my pc fine, just doesn't charge. Ordered a new mugen power 1800mah battery, waiting for it to get here to see if its a battery problem.
yeah still don't charge plus it is in a bootloader loop think it is a hardware problem with the usb port
I know that, for example, the iPhone has about 4 moisture sensors, one inside the USB connector port, one in the headphone jack, and 2 inside the phone, the last 2 will trigger things like reboots or even blocking the charge. Put the phone in silica gel or, more convenient, a bag with dry rice (that's how I've saved my old lg vu) for couple of days...

Have you tried plugging it into the mains (wall) charger and let it sit for a while?
That fixed my bootloader loop, turns out the battery was too weak to power the device on that it went to bootloader. I Just plugged it into the wall charger and ignored it, came back and it was working fine and charging.
But it won't charge via usb or car charger
I had the same loop problem but mine never recovered. Never dropped it in anything wet either. I let it die once and could never get it to turn all the way back on because it would just try to boot and then shut off again over and over. Had to send it back for a new phone. If its new enough and there is no water damage marks then I would send it back for a new one.
Hi everyone phone is fix now it was a bad usb port that was causing the bootloader loop so protected your usb port.
I have a problem with my USB port too. Nope, no snow. Just realized one day why my internet kept getting disconnected. It's because the USB connection was the problem. Jiggling it around gets the orange (or green when battery is full) light to come on and computer will recognize it... or it starts charging from wall charger. I think the phone's USB connection is bad. Is this a common problem with this phone?

It seems to be yes, I've seen quite a number of people who've had this type of problem on the Rhodium end up finding out it was a bad USB port on the phone...I think HTC just might have used ones that weren't nearly sturdy enough.

First thing, sorry if this has been answered before. The thread search never works from my phones. It just disappears as soon as my keyboard appears.
Is there a way to fix the USB /charging port to keep it from being so touchy? I've tried new factory data /charge cable. I've tried expensive brand name cables. They all seem to work for a more th or two pretty well and then its back to charge/not charge sometimes without even touching the phone.
This has been the way with every Samsung phone I've owned and it is so aggravating because, as I'm trying to type or while playing a game it interrupts and causes lags and also the battery will die while I think its charging if I can't see a battery icon.
Other than sending both my phones in for new USB jacks/ports, is there something I can do? I'm pretty capable at fixing electronics if not too technical.
seem to be having bad luck with your ports i would suggest a new charger but im sure you've done that a plentiful of times or you just have really bad luck with phones thats stuff get an iphone JK!!! lol you stick to samsung chargers not no after market stuff right ? and does the cable feel securely tighten or loose when you plug it ? is this phone old new you could have a dirty port spray some air can in that port to clear debris
Hey, thanks for your reply.
I think this problem stems from me being on the phones a lot and I have the the charging /data cable in a lot to keep the battery up. With that, the constant mmovement of up and down from table /desk top, to ear,or car seat /center console to my pocket as im in and out of my car.
The cable always feels loose in the jack. Im sure the jack is stretched open. The chip that is inside, may be has worn and the edges of the board slightly filed down making a loose connection .
Anyways, Ive already had to start charging the battery directly. I've also got a replacement ordered. That's why I pay for insurance right?
So we can put this thread to bed. Thanks

Same problem here. The best luck is (oddly) using a computer (instead of a wall charger) and charging while the phone is off. And, the original Samsung charger block and USB are the least reliable of all I have tried. The microUSB end of the cable is slightly undersized. Note: removing the battery completely (while not connected by cable) for 10sec seems to improve the charging.
It has been a good phone but 3 years might be all it can handle. Xperia Z3 compact, here I come.
what do you use to charge your sw3 ? i was charging it with an ASUS charger (100-240v) and after 20min the watch was very hot ! It's normal ? what kind of charger do you use ?
I use a genuine samsung charger (From a S4) and it gets hot too. I don't we should worry...
I checked the amps it draws from charger it showed ~.520 from wall charger, same as USB.

2. There is always sacrifice in favor of ip68, I prefer waterproofing. But wireless qi charging would be good.

Does it gets hot when charging directly from a laptop? The charger of a S4 probably deliveres around 1200mA where a laptop usually does only around 500.. A tablet charger even more..
I think quick charging (many times) is no good for battery life on long term! Except when the internal charging chip does limit it the right way. But when it gets hot[emoji6]
BTW Correct me if I'm wrong..

Mine limits it at ~540mamps from 2A wall charger. Also, never seen it really hot, warm yes, very warm yes, but not dangerously hot.
I have bought a Sony Smartwatch 3 for my husband for Christmas but I have no idea about power adapters and am afraid to use the wrong one. The Sony site simply recommends we use Sony adapters (of course they would) but they don't even say which one or what spec is required. In our household we have adapters for the following devices:
Nexus 4
Nexus 5
Nexus 7 (both versions)
Nexus 10
Different chargers have different specs and I don't know whether this is all important. Can I use any of these chargers with their cables (as I think the watch cable is rather short too)? I don't want to damage the watch using the wrong power adapter. I'm in the UK.
I got my watch yesterday and today I broke the plastic hinge on the charging port cover.
It's not completely broken thankfully just bent over, be careful they are not very strong.
2 hours to fully charge
It takes me 2 hours to fully charged (from can't switch on at all till showing 100%)
I am using the Samsung Note 3 Original Charger with the original Sony Cable provided.
Anyhow, this is my second time charging my watch.. have to monitor....
I used usb cable to charge my SW3, power-on from 0% to 100%. It took me almost 1 hour. At the beginning, the percetage was aurgemented very quickly. But at the end it took 12min from 99% to 100%

it is normal, the last percents are charged slower, that phase is called "topping off", uses low and/or pulsed current
It doesnt mater beacuse usb can power 5v devices so you can charge it ..... I would prefer the charger of nexus 5
5V, 3amps
the Snapdragon 400 has Quick Charge 2.0 that can draw as much as 3 amps. My samsung galaxy note 3 charger is only 2 amps, but already charges the watch fairly quick.

I'll take the difficult port with the ability to charge with a cable I almost certainly have close by any day. I would love to have Qi charging, but when I'm overusing my watch at work or on the go and need to charge, no problem. I have a micro-USB cable close by. I wouldn't have a Qi charging station with me at all times.
I use a right angled cable, makes it much easier to pop the cable into the port. And those people who have broken the cover or are having difficulty, are you gorillas or something?

Just thought of something else (that's actually on topic). I use the micro-USB that came with my Harmony 700 remote (I have 2 and both cables fit the same). It is actually a loose fit so it slides in and out of the Smartwatch 3 quite nicely. My girlfriend used to use it in her S3 but it kept popping out so I took it for my watch and found it works wonders. Since the SW3 seems to have a tighter fit micro-USB port, using a looser cable works nicely. It still stays in, but is so much easier to get in and out.
for those who have it and used it for long time..
1) is it charging faster/slower/same than regularly charging? (with the same charger of course)
2) is it actually comfortable? after trying it, do you actually use it daily and enjoy or its a gimmick only and you went back to the regular cable?
3) is it causing any damages? bugs? weird stuffs?
I'm Z owner (it doesn't compatible with magnets) and I'm considering to upgrade to z2/3/3c with mainly reason of the magnetic charging..
Some experience sharing would really help me out here.. YouTube is only for unboxing and showing it but no real tips from experienced users..
Thanks.
Currently using a magnetor x adapter on my charger that I had previously. Its connects really easily and stays on. I read it's a bit stronger (magnetically) than stock.
It charges the device at a similar rate as plugged in but the main benefit is that you don't wear the seal which covers the microusb port.
When I'm done charging I simple unclip the adapter and stick it on my desk as my desk is steel.
1. From my measurement the Max charging at both connections is at ~1.8A until it reaches 90% at this point both drop to 0.8-1A.
If you buy a quick charger you have to stick with micro USB.
2. It's very comfortable but the z4 might drop the magnetic port as the micro USB port got waterproofed.
3. I'm too using the magnetor x cables but they come at an risk: the port can be pulled out by the stronger magnet after some time (the port is only glued in place). I got this fixed with using rewell model glue, it even kept my device waterproof. Sony warranty seems not to cover damaged ports as they aren't selling a charging cable them self (only desktop docks) and never intended the port to work with stronger magnets.
Send with my Xperia Z3 Compact
Thank you both! Really helpful info
Also, if you're buying the cable, consider the case you're going to use if any. Eg. DevilCase doesn't have a wide enough space to fit the old magnetor x.

Wowwwwwww. Good heads up. I'm considering a dock now!
Mag connector is super convenient, second only to inductive charging.
I bought a few of the cheap "Sony" branded ones - magnet is not that strong so you have to line them up and make sure the cable is not kinked or they can pop off. Not good for car charging but I have only had to open the flaps a few times to flash or swap cards so they save major wear on the ports/flaps.
Much prefer this setup over inductive charging since inductive heats the phone and ages the battery faster.
like it
I use mine to charge my phone at night, so I don't really use the phone with it connected. I think it charges at roughly the same rate, and I couldn't go back to plugging it in! It's very convenient.
I also bought two from game-plus on eBay.
One is a microusb adapter and the other is a USB cable with mag on the end. Both are not as stable as the magnetor x but work just as good. The magnetor x1 isn't compatible with a DevilCase but these are. I'll try to post the links in a bit.
These are what I bought off ebay. Came from china:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/221540961462
(white)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/221550091355
both work although the snap on is not as secure as the magnetor X, it works. Got the same current pass through of around 1.2-1.4A with my Blackberry Playbook charger, the 2A one that is highly rated for the nexus 5.
I have three of the following cables (work, home and car) initially for my Z1C phone and later on my Z3C Tablet and they have been working fine for over 12 months
http://dx-box.com/brand-new-magnetic-usb-charging-cable-adapter-for-sony-xperia-z1-xperia-z-ultra.html
I upgraded to a Z3C phone over the weekend and the cable works fine with it too.
Whilst the magnet is not super strong, it is enough strong enough to deal with small movement of the phone. Never had cause to complain or curse it. The one I use in the car has never detached as a result of a bumpy road etc.

Can anyone confirm there are touch screen issues when the AC charger is connected?
This seems to be pretty big hardware issue and i wonder if it does affect all Zuk Z2's...
Can anyone test this please?

Depends on the charger and socket output.
Like when I'm using it with qc3 charger plugged into 220v output socket, there is no such issue, but when plugged into 110v (tried on train's socket), you can see that problem.
This problem is basically with every phone.
Indian Lenovo Z2 Plus here on Stock Nougat
No issues here (stock charger on 220V AC)
Oh well, maybe i have to reconsider it then
Anybody using the device had this issue(Ghost touch)?

This is common for all Zuk Z2 devices.
Its a issue with the charger & not with the device as such. Try using any other good quality charger, this will not happen or if you want to be sure try charging with powerbank you won't face the ghost touch.
try different socket in different location. sometimes ground wire has problem in home which leads to this problem.
I recently bought the phone, and yes, I have experienced the issue quite a few times. But, only a few times. Most of the time, device touchpad works normally while charging. I think thr problem is with the old sockets. I use Stock provided charger. I have heard that it's common in many phones, so I'm ready to ignore it. Because anyways phone should not be used while charging.
With reference to my previous message, I noticed now that the device shows ghost touches while charging, only when device is charging at max speed and is quite hot. While charging, when the phone was between 50%-80%, it had become quite hot (Not too much though), and it gave me ghost touches quite a few times. I think device charges at it's max during these percentage. But when the phone crossed 85%, the device started getting a bit cooler, and I didn't experience the ghost touches at all.
Issue solved
Hi buddy I had the same issue .one day while I connect my z2 with laptop I see that its charging but no touch issue then I realised it need low power charger than that given charger .After that I use my tablet's 5v 1amp .It works nice and it take 2 and half hrs to fully charge .After that I did not face any touch issue.Thats why they does not provide fast charger.I brought my z2 6/08/2017 from flipkart

This is not a phone issue. Lenovo is selling **** quality chargers and cables. If you happen to know (https://www.amazon.com/gp/profile/amzn1.account.AFLICGQRF6BRJGH2RRD4VGMB47ZA) this guy then see his recommendations and buy a good charger or you might even fry your device. This is very dangerous. Shame on Lenovo.

I'm using motorola original fast charger of cellphone of my wife.
I'm also facing this problem. I have divorced parents, the charger that came in the box was a US adapter that I couldn't use. My brother used to have a ZUK z1 and I use his stock charger Together with the original Z2 charger. That one works well. I bought a Blitzwolf USB type C cable, a Tiegem QC3.0 cable and a wish.com charger with great reviews supporting Qualcomm QC3.0, but I recently discovered that zuk z2 uses a different type of fast charging. On the blitzwolf and Tiegem cable i have ghost touches and the phone gets very laggy, does anyone have recommendations? thanks in advance
How will an iPhone charger work.
My proposed solution
I bought this mobile few days back and since then I also have realised about this issue. This isn't ghost touch but the touchscreen becomes ultra reactive with higher input.
I used several apps and found another thing that if any charger inputs anything more than 1.4 amps, the mobile's screen becomes ultra reactive. But if the charger inputs upto 1.3 amps, it is ok. I keep using a charger that gives max output of upto 1.3 amps and I can even play games easily without any issue.
To measure the amps, I use app from play store which is free called Ampere. I am nowhere related to this app, you are most welcome to try this method out.
