So my usb port is messing up as now I have to add pressure to the cable in order for it to charge. I have cleaned the port and while there was a good amount of lint in it, it still needs pressure for it to charge. I have contacted HTC and they gave me the option to send it for repair or get a new one and send the old one in. However since it is S-OFF & rooted, I was wondering if flash the RUU and switch back to S-ON will it be ok? Since they had told me that if the boot loader had been unlocked etc it no longer is covered by the warranty. Sorry for the long post
If you have an RUU available and can flash it and get back to locked/Not tampered/S-ON you'll be fine (in theory)

On the boot loader, it says "official software" and doesnt say "tampered" however I think it'll say relocked. Is that fine?
It'll have to do! It's up to them if they accept it, though...

I actually missed the bit about S-OFF! Well, didn't miss it...just kinda ignored it after my first post
OP, you can set it back to LOCKED again if you're still S-OFF. You'll need to unlock the bootloader again, then boot TWRP (not flash it) and use the commands in the relock thread in General and you should be good to go

thanks but, I contacted HTC about the repair request and some prick used my serial number already to request a repair for their device and HTC said they can't repair my device since a request for a repair with my serial number is already in their systems.

How much does it cost to replace the port, according to the service ? If they want to charge a high price for a small job, on the grounds that your device doesn't cover warranty repair anymore, here's a simple solution. Go to a non HTC repair center and get your job done. They give a pretty good service at a reasonable rate ! Plus, you can bargain

Hi guys, i have a question, i want to return my phone for warranty and i've read this thread that if your bootloader is showing 'relocked' you cannot return the device for warranty.
I am here to ask if there is a way to make the bootloader show 'locked' bootloader instead of 'relocked'?
it would be GREATLY appreciated if you could help me. thanks!
for those who want to relock their bootloader can follow the instructions here
There is no way to do that ATM.
If the problem is the hardware issue, HTC should honor the warranty.

actually i'm looking to sell the phone, the phone have no issues whatsoever, but if the person i sell to wants to claim warranty, it may be an issue.
Not possible. When you got your unlock bin from HTC, it logged the device info. There gonna know right away it was tampered with.

Correct. From what I've read, unlocking voids the warranty instantly (even tho htcdev says it "could" void your warranty) So any repairs are gonna cost you.

OK.. while trying to re-flash my phone after messing up, I tried to re-lock (fastboot oem lock) and it put up 3 messages, 1 succeed, 2 failed, on reboot of phone it read locked.
Yes!! Locked not re-locked ! I forgot I had not flashed stock recovery ! So triued to unlock, it worked but I could not flash stock recovery, failed, but I could re-lock with same LOCKED message, if I then went from HBoot to Fastboot I got a new menu SECURITY .. bellow locked a message SECURITY WARNING, if I select SECURITY menu then I get a new screen , KEYCARD failed, and reboots.
Anyway the LOCKED was enough to get the phone swapped as its two weeks old, any way after charging and attempting RUU again it locked on black HTC screen most times it booted.
Still maybe this menu holds a key to S-OFF, and maybe the relock failing can be replicated, it seems to have sent only 1 of 3 parts if the file across, so if you phone is bricked maybe you can give it a shot for htc service cover by part re-locking in some way.

and was hoping we could make some headway on it.
I noticed you are on Vodafone Australia.
I spoke to multiple stores and service reps and each of them said the same thing, that merely unlocking the bootloader will not void your warranty with them assuming a hardware fault. They even allowing discussion of bootloader unlocking in their community forum.
They did say however that flashing custom roms and rooting will void your warranty as per usual and any damage caused as a result of overclocking or messing with voltages etc is not covered.
I don't know if that is any help, but they seem pretty good about it so long as you didnt cause any actual damage yourself

Unfortunately I bought it outright from All phones. Don't think they'll accept it. but never mind anymore, I sold my HTC one x. I put up a *phone has boot loader unlocked* note on the ad

As it says in the title, I was too anxious to root my M8 so it was the first thing I did after opening the box. Now after I have rooted the phone I wanted to redeem my google drive offer but oh suprise it says Unable to verify the offer for this device please contact htc support for further assistance... So I guess I am screwed now and i can't get this offer anymore because the bootloader is unlocked right? or is there anyway to get it back to stock to redeem it?
Here is the info google gives about this :
**If I purchased a used/refurbished HTC device or unlocked the bootloader on my device, can I redeem the offer?
No. The offer is only available to original buyer of a device over its lifetime. Users who unlock the bootloader on their device are not eligible to receive this offer.**
I think you can S-Off, relock the boot loader, redeem offer, and then unlock.
I am S-Off I have tried to flash the stock recovery and oem relock the device with "fastboot oem lock" and it does not work I am trying to reach out to google and htc for support (maybe they can add it directly to my account somehow)
Same @tawer don't think we should be penalised for unlocking our bootloader personally I think it's wrong

Just goto HTC website and do a live chat. They will request details of your phone and send you a link for the Google Drive offer.. I did this after I rooted my phone. Great customer service.
Great news I will try the htc live chat and report back here, for the record my phone is from Rogers Canada. And btw 50 go of google drive for two years equate about 24$ so i guess it's not that bad if we can't get it
Awesome news ! since there is no live chat here in Canada I called HTC directly and 5 minutes later I received an email with a link to activate my free storage! It was super easy give it a try guys! She only asked for cell number, provider, name, email and imei
No joy for me
Petr D.: Ok, I will have to check some details with our escalation team. It will be a moment

Petr D.: I am sorry but the offer is not valid for devices with unlock bootloader
Elsworth: ok, Well thats a bit unfair

I can verify that it works if you go into Google drive before unlocking the bootloader
realize this post is kind of old, but I just had the same problem.
Went to online chat with HTC and they fixed it up for me in a few minutes.
I said nothing about boot loader, just put "problems with google drive promotion" in the chat subject.
What was strange was that they guy asked me:
"Thanks for that information. Our system indicates that you requested to unlock the bootloader of the phone. Is this correct?"
I played dumb from then out because I never requested this via the HTC dev site.
He sent me a promo code via e-mail directly.

You did better that me. I asked on chat and got this and they wouldn't budge:
"xx: Unfortunately I have checked the system and your phone after imei and the software has been modified
xx: hence you are not entitled to receive a free google drive storage
xx: I am afraid"
They wouldn't budge. Not sure how they know I've modified the software - I didn't unlock my bootlader via HTC. Obviously I've let them know somehow (they did ask for my IMEI).
I simply followed the directions to lock (not relock) the bootloader from an ADB console, got the upgrade, then used the same directions to unlock the bootloader. Note that you have to be S-off to follow those directions.
All it required was a reboot for each state change.

Ok... I unlocked using HTC method (with .bin file) and am rooted. But not S-off.
So if I get sunshine and do S-off, then I can lock the bootloader and redeem, and then use the.bin file to unlock again?
I would be very upset if HTC didn't honor this promotion. I unlocked the bootloader pursuant their website (which they permitted according their "open attitude") and without warning that the promotion would be rendered invalid.

I'm not sure if "relocked" counts the same as "locked" for the offer, because I was S-off the same day I activated the phone, but it might be worth a shot. If it still doesn't fly, going S-off and resetting it to "locked" definitely works.

I just wonder if they were sent information from the phone when it was first unlocked.
I mean I would argue all day long that yes, I did request the unlock, but that I changed my mind and didn't actually unlock the phone. Unless they could prove it, they would not be showing good faith in their relationship with their customers.
The only way they could prove it would be by admitting unauthorized (or not clearly authorized) collection of information that notified them that my bootloader was unlocked.

I unlocked my phone with Sunshine and when requesting the offer via the online support chat facility I was told after giving them my IMEI "I've checked on the system, and I can see you've modified your phone". Kinda worries me they could tell that remotely. I've never been near the official bootloader unlock.
Anyway - I relocked my bootloader and managed to successfully claim the space just via the App!
@4m8 since you are the only guy here who knows best about HTC Desire 300.
Well my friend gave his Desire 300 to me for repair. i thought its going to be easy as like 1,2,3. but guess i was wrong.
I tried several options already.
USB DEBUGGING might be off as well since my friend doesnt know about flashing or unlocking bootloaders. i cant unlock the bootloader i think.
Its S-ON. (Dont know what it actually means).
I tried going to recovery but it shows me a PHONE with A RED ''DOWNLOAD MODE ARROW'' i think recovery is corrupted?
i tried already flashing boot.img and recovery.img over FASTBOOT. but it says ''failed remote signature verify fail''. its just isnt like my sony device which says OKAY all the time lol. those two files were found on a Google drive website.
i have no other options left to revive this phone.
Help will be a very good option :good: thanks in advance.
Well i read a lot of sites which says stuck at boot. and i cant find a Official Stock firmware for this device. is it that HTC didnt released one?
That sounds really bad. So let's recap to see if I understand your situation correctly:
Phone doesn't boot, can't enter recovery and will only load the bootloader. (b-loader status is S-ON Locked)
Now unless you are able to unlock the bootloader (which you aren't as you have stated) there is no way to flash a custom recovery.
The locked bootloader will prevent it because it requires anything you want to flash to be signed by HTC.
The only way out is to flash an actual official update by HTC which afaik is not available for this device.
To make matters worse, if the phone is branded you couldn't even revive it this way because some providers, like mine, actually force HTC
to prevent those phones from flashing an official HTC update that is not branded.
But there is a bright side to your situation. Since you weren't able to unlock the bootloader your friends warenty should still be intact.
And even if this was a branded phone try to claim a replacement from the manufacturer, that way you might have the chance to get
an unbranded device in return for the trouble you and your friend had to endure. :fingers-crossed:
Sorry if I had to shatter the last piece of hope that you were clinging on to but without an unlocked bootloader the only option that
remains is getting a replacement or begging HTC to release an update or the version that is installed by default as a RUU exe
PS:
Just to be certain, you did try the factory reset option in the bootloader before giving up, right?

Yes, i cant enter recovery as well.

Thanks for your help @4m8  :good: (IT ISNT MINE SO I DONT HAVE A PROBLEM) I will give this phone back to my friend.

HTC does track that. If you unlocked the bootloader, they know about it.
All they know is you asked for a unlock code. They have no way to prove that you used it.
If you return the phone to it's original state. Theirs nothing they can do.

I don't know if it's as cut & dried as that. Like clsA said, they don't know whether or not you used the unlock token.
HTC's FAQ references the warranty implications and the warranty issue is also referenced in their explanation about unlock vs S-ON/OFF.
From my reading of their explanations, unlocking does not automatically mean warranty claims will be rejected. It simply adds an additional element to the process of determining whether or not the issue is HTC's responsibility or the user's.

True. But they told me that I would need to send it in if I had any issues, then they would determine if I caused it by unlocking the bootloader or not. (like you said).
I've never made a warranty claim with HTC before, but my guess is that while they'd need the phone to be sent in, they would be looking for physical proof that its bootloader was unlocked. I suppose they might ask you directly if they look at the HTCdev request record, but more likely they'd just check the phone itself.
I'm afraid you probably can't avoid unlocking the bootloader via HTCdev - modders aren't going to spend time on a new method when HTC is being so accommodating. On the flip side, their friendly stance towards modders indicates that they aren't necessarily looking to give them a bum rap.

basically, what i'm saying, it just i bought a pack of condoms.... can you prove i used them

anyway, TL;DR what this was about anyway.... but if i can that many boxes at the pharmacy, it must be true

Yeah, I get both of your points. I would think the same exact thing too. Especially if I have a custom rom, there theoretically should be no way for them to prove that I USED the token, just that I got the token.
Based on my experience with HTC support (HORRIBLE), I wouldn't be surprised if they just charge you if you got the key.

I can speak from personal experience that HTC will not deny service simply because you unlocked. I s-off'd and modded my M7 to hell and back, and they still fixed the pink camera defect for free.
From what I have heard from over the years, HTC may have some undisclosed methods of knowing when the bootloader has been unlocked, even when the phone has been restored to bone stock. Whether this is true, I cannot say, but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised. HTC's historic friendliness toward modding may well be in part because they know they can tell when you've screwed things up on your own.
So if i ask the token from htcdev and i don't use, void the warranty? But i don't use.
But if i use the token and unlock my bootloader and i buy a s-off and set back the flag: Locked , void the warranty?

I don't want to relock my bootloader. My goal is just removing this message. Because if the bootloop issue happen to me, sellers will not know that i've unlocked my bootloader. So they will repair my phone for free.
please can any mod close this? Has already been asked and answered. it's not possible! Do a damn search before!
there is not mention of this as far as I sow it anyways...
If you have it then post the link here so we can see it also .
PS: under the same logic we would not try to find a root or bootloader unlock and talk about it because its not currently possible.

I read about a guy saying something like changing the I-M-E-I (dont want to get banned or something) to something else, reboot and then restore it, you should have a relocked bootloader..
it sounds a bit shady but maybe this can actually work...depending on how this unlock is done.
