I installed CM12 after flashing the ZV8 modem. I'm wondering how to go back to a ZVD ROM (Affliction). If I just restore the backup or flash the ROM, the phone stays at the loading screen forever.
I'm guessing I need to flash the ZVD modem. Does that sound right? If so, what's the best way to go about that?

If you have the newest or updated TWRP from auto-rec. It should have backed up the radio.
If not, try here

Thanks! Strangely, the ZVD radio doesn't show on that page.
I do have a newer version of TWRP so I might have an EFS backup somewhere. I'll look. Thanks!
Oh yeah. But the newer TWRP, will backup radio. Efs hold your phone identity. Without it your programming to get signal and everything else is gone. Your meid, imei, iccid, is gone. Radio is the modem firmware.
Oh, okay. Thanks for clarifying. What's is the name of the modem file, do you know? Would it be something like modem.ext4.win001?

After you have downgraded your aboot, you will need a custom recovery. Download Flashify off the Google Play market (or use FreeGee to make the process faster) and place this file on your sdcard. twrp_2.6.3.3_loki-ls980.img
Open flashify, select recovery image, and find that .img, I have already loki'd this image, so you don't need to worry about it not working. Just be sure that you have downgraded your aboot first!
At the moment, the ZVA radio that came with your ota has completely broken compatability with all other non-ZVA ROMs, so if you want to install CM/PA/AOKP/DerpG2/OptimusDE, you will need to downgrade your radio to non-Spark ZV8/7, just flash this file in your newly installed recovery.
Now you're safe to flash any ROM!
so according to that you should be able to flash cm and others but then there is this note If you want to try the new radio (Spark), there's some things you need to be aware of, (when available) flashing youdug's stock ZVA ROM will NOT give you spark out of the box. You will need the new ZVA radio for this. You can find that here
You can only use twrp to install this radio. And it will ONLY work on ZVA ROMS. Do NOT install this radio over CM/PA, you will brick. and so I think you can't flash cm with zva
---------- Post added at 04:14 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:11 PM ----------
ok did a little bit more reading the file you flash after installing twrp in that guide downgrades your radio to zv8 which means you can flash cm at that point as long as you don't update to the zva radio

I've actually not been able to flash my zv7-aboot.img using terminal emulator. I keep getting an error that says cannot open for read: No such file or directory. Will FreeGee automatically downgrade my aboot when I use it to install twrp_2.6.3.3?
"You DO NOT have to downgrade to the ZV8 radio now to run AOSP based ROMs. To run an AOSP based ROM with the ZVA radio you MUST flash Savoca's or dr87's kernel immediately after you flash the AOSP ROM."
So basically can we install cyanogenmod on a ZVA phone without downgrading ? Sorry If my question is stupid :/

The easiest way is to download freegee from the app store, install a custom recovery. Be sure to download the zv8 radio. Go to recovery and flash CM then the ZV8 radio. You can use the ZVA radio but if you dont have spark in your area this is easiest
When I tried to install the Justin's T-Mobile ROM to LS980 with ZVA version through TWRP, I got a boot loop (TWRP recovery image was installed via Flasify). Restored the factory ROM and tried to flash again, but I got the same boot loop. Is it due to the fact that the phone is on ZVA?
I read in the forum that I can use FreeGee to flash TWRP for LS980 ZVA, but it seems it does not help as well.
Do I need to go back to earlier version (ZV8 or ZV9?) to flash the T-Mobile ROM or is there a way to flash the ROM without going back?
Thanks for help in advance!
here is what i did

Thanks for the reply. Do you know where I can find files to flash radio? I'll read the cm11 thread and see if I can find more info on that.
EDIT:Flashed ZV8 Radio after flashing the T-Mobile ROM it appears booting but I'm getting following error messages:
Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped
Unfortunately, VoIP call has stopped.
These messages keep popping up after pressing OK so I cannot get to the main screen.
What do I need to do now?
Well, I tried to flash the T-Mobile ROM again and it works fine now (without flashing the ZV8 again after flashing the ROM)!

once you flash a radio like you stated. flashed the ZV8 after the rom you dont ever need to do that unless you recover from a TOT. file or switch your radio at some point. once you flash it your good man
and just in-case you didn't know your posting questions in the development area i see you did it twice so i figured you might think your in Q&A
are you using a t-mobile or att based sim card?

Google Play Store - No Connection Issue
Hello everyone,
I have flashed Justin's T-Mobile ROM onto my LS980 (Sprint G2) successfully after flashing ZV8 radio.
However, Google Play Store started giving me an error message - 'No Connection'.
I tried to follow the fix in the following thread but when I opened the hosts file there was already " 127.0.0.1 localhost" at the first line. I deleted the hosts file entirely and restarted the phone but it did not work either.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2273994
Does anyone know what I need to do to get Play Store working again? When I factory reset it, it will start working but after few downloads, it stops working and displays the same 'No Connection' error message.
By the way, I have force closed 'automatic update' app disabled notification. Is it possibly why?
Any help will be appreciated!!

Sorry keyboard autocorrect... Non-stock Roms require zv8 radio.
All lollipop versions are non-stock. So you would need the zv8 modem.
If you are on zvc, and you want to go to say resurrection remix or Aicp.
Zvc stock, use ioroot25 to get root.
Download auto-rec.
Install and run
Download TWRP manager from play store.
Update TWRP to 2.8.4.1
Reboot to TWRP.
Backup everything.
Reboot system
Download zv8 radio
Download ROM of choice
Download gapps
Read the first 5 posts.
Follow directions
Wipe data, system, cache, davlik/cache
Install ROM, zv8 radio, gapps
Reboot

Now that is a trick I haven't looked into. Knock code was involved in the kernel/lock screen. May have to Google and see if a third party lock screen app can do it or a mod.

Hm. If you're rooted, I assume you know how to use ODIN, correct? Also, since you've got a custom kernel, I also assume KNOX is tripped, correct. Making both of those assumptions, I recommend you download the DOI1 firmware from Sammobile or XDA and flash it using ODIN. I may be wrong, but it sounds like you have a modem issue, and re-flashing stock should help.

Yes, download https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347821137
NOTE, if you click on "UVUBOH1" and not the androidfilehost link in the FW thread, it links you to the wrong FW and you'll flash UVUBNC1! Make sure you click the androidfilehost link underneath UVUB0H1.
Then flash it with odin.
Afterwards let it reboot and upgrade, then odin TWRP back and either restore a nandroid or flash the rom of your choosing
Oh also, if you're still on 4.1 and on a touchwiz rom, you may want to factory unlock it before you upgrade.. Just because you can. Follow the unlock thread on here

Was quite a bit of trouble at first . I managed to download and flash the software. flashed TWRP via odin.
Then through TWRP, I rooted by using the Knox remover zip (as i was on official 4.3, my service signal did shoot up to normal again!). Installed SuperSU.
Now when I try to flash any ROM via TWRP it gives errors such as "Status 7", or error reading MD5 when I try to backup software.

I have finally managed to figure it out. You need to completely format the entire ROM currently installed from your phone. Once that is done, you can add any ROM to install properly. I'm running well on OctOS-N 3/17/2017 build.
Thanks all for your help.
