Hello,
is there any way to lock the focus when recording a video with the stock camera app?
In my experience I get a lot of focus hunting while recording video and just makes it not usable, otherwise the quality and image stabilization is superb.
Any third party app that would use the same image stabilization and lock focus would also be ok, but I dont think there is such a thing...
Thank you.

Agreed, much better too take a shot then zoom in afterwards, less chance of blur etc
you are not right nokia n8 has a perfect digital zoom at video recording !!!! no blur!! very clear image!!!!
@mikemilos
Nothing can compare to optical zoom. Another point to note is that the N8 has a larger sensor and better optics. That's still the top dog when it comes to phone cameras.

The new Update sony ericsson is releasing for Xperia arc introduces Camera Zoom/Photo Zoom up to 2.62x i think. Check http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1199597 for more information
Zoom funtion is working on new 4.0.A.2.368 but as stated above it is really blurred (and don't work in video mode).
Digital zoom is crap.
It's just taking the pixels in the middle (the zoomed area) and blowing them up.
You can't beat physics.

Does anyone remember where the image stabilization setting is for the stock video camera?
I don't think you can set the image stabilization settings in the stock app. For that reason I've switched to ICS Camera+ which looks exactly the same but allows you to turn on/off stabilization for both the video and photo.
I'm pretty sure it doesn't have image stabilisation.

I'm pretty sure you didn't watch the Galaxy Nexus keynote.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
What would be the advantage to turning it off?
On the GN the stabilization tends to give the video a more blurred look. So your video is "less shaky" but blurry. I'm much happier with the video when stabilization is off. The video is much cleaner.
I can't even tell if it's on or off. It still seems pretty shaky if it's on by default.
It would be cool if we could change the levels of image stabilization.
solution
there r many apps in playstore or u can try s4 camera patches.. however s4 has both software and hw stabilisation the cam on my nexus4 became much more stable than earlier... try them...
does the gnex have touch to focus ? i can't find any..whenever i record a video that has a lot of movement it will always be out of focus, the continous focus sucks takes too long to focus
here's my video example, it's blurry due to the focus
Hi all!! I've seen that the lost of slowmotion recording from stock rom motorola to any AOSP ROM, is a very annoying thing that developers are trying to solve porting stock camera even without this function but working hardly to port that funcion too. For me this feature was something that i won't lost on my device and looking for some cameras or something, i've found SNAP CAMERA HDR that allow the user to record slowmo videos on AOSP ROMS too. I've personally tried and it's working as the seme as the original video recording.
its time lapse feature which is different from slowmotion

I want a way to capture 1440p video with LG G4 front camera.. Maybe with a mod for the cam or something like that
Also I want to use the screen as a flash for video capturing also .. It can be like the main camera app while taking photos.. Or maybe like the SnapChat camera while capturing video with flash by the frontal camera
Thank you
