Hi all,
Tried to root my compact today with cyanogenmod 11, sadly it was unsuccessful and my phone was bricked (black screen, not booting.) fixed it by flashing 'original' firmware. Not sure i did anything wrong, where should i go from here for rooting? should i give up?

[Q] OTA update wont install on E988

Hi im hoping someone can help here.
I purchased a second hand LG Optimus G Pro.
So far everything works fine.
Today I tried to do a software update it let me download it no problem when i click install after 3% it stops and comes up with an error then reboots phone after reboot it says suspected rooted phone cannot update root phone.
The phone was already reset when i purchased it.I also hard reset it after the first attempt and used all root checkers and they all say no root.
Anyone had this issue or is this phone still rooted?
Is it my bootloader unlocked? How do i check this?
Would updating on a pc work?
Any help would be appreciated.

Try recovering through LG PC Suite. Then You won't need OTA Update.

Stuck in wrong build??

Several months ago I purchased the nexus 7 2013 wifi version. In my tiredness after a long day I unlocked, rooted then flashed a custom rom (aokp) my build numbers is KVT49L instead of KVT49H. I must have flashed the LTE version in error.
I'm trying to upgrade from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4. Wugfresh toolkit doesn't work, also unfathomables tool won't work either.
I have been rooting, swapping kernels, unlocking bootloaders and flashing custom since the Droid x days.
I assume I need to use ADB? I am having a hard time finding specific instructions on how to complete this minor upgrade to 4.4.4. In afraid to try anything being on the build for a different version of my device.
any suggestions are appreciated.
I apologize in advance if I left out any critical info regarding my situation.
Edit:
Also are the tool kits not working because I'm on the incorrect build?
K... so, does anyone have any thoughts about just flashing KVT49H rom over what I have?

Why isn't the toolkit working with flash stock and unroot? You should be able to select the option that says it is in a boot loop... And for current version, you can select anything you want - that is what it will flash when you do the flash stock and unroot.
If that doesn't work, where specifically does it fail?
Mike
It goes into bootloader mode and does not come out. Toolkits worked fine on N7 v1. I am attempting to un root and revert to stock.

Toolkit works on v2 as well. When you do the flash stock and unroot, you have to select the option that says your phone is soft bricked.
If that doesn't work, when you are in the bootloader, are you at least able to use the volume buttons and power to select recovery?
Thanks Mike, I'm going to try that
Thomas
Soft brick option did the trick!! I was also able to restore to KOT49H. Thanks my friend

TWRP requires an unlocked bootloader which the VS986 (Verizon G4) has not been able to do. I saw a thread somewhere about installing MM on any G4, but figured I could wait a while and be happy with 13B. What software version were you BEFORE installing 6.0 MM? Can you not go back to 13B by placing a system image on your phone and flashing that in recover/command mode? I have not read much about what MM does with your kernel/bootloader, so DEFINITELY check that before you think about going back to 5..1 LG has anti-rollback stuff backed in that can brick your phone if you try going to a previous version, but not sure how the 6.0 MM flash handles that.
Edit: Well, that answers that question, not a Verizon phone. lol.
Which H815 version do you have? VERY IMPORTANT because not all H815 are made the same. Depending on the region is what determines if you can actually unlock your bootloader.

Bootloader is unlocked. Had 5.1 before with TWRP & Co. working.
The CM Wiki is exactly what I did. Installing Android 6 and then flashing recovery with adb.
Can't link due newbie but cyanogen wiki /w/Install_CM_for_h815
Now tried to boot directly into recovery after flashing.
I'm just getting the Stock recovery after a sucessful flash of twrp?

Need help on upgrading my rooted LG G3 on stock KitKat (T-Mobile)

If this is posted in the wrong area, I apologize.
I have a rooted LG G3 with TWRP running KitKat. No custom ROM (I rooted it primarily so that I could write to the SD card).
Lately my phone has running strangely lately. It becomes unresponsive for >10 seconds from time to time. Sometimes I press the power button and it won't wake up. So I want to reset my phone and upgrade to Lollipop and load a custom ROM (maybe Cyanogenmod or Cloudy custom ROM). I'm going to use TWRP and Titanium to back everything up on the phone first.
I haven't loaded custom ROMs since my HTC EVO 3D, so it's been a while. I had some (very) basic questions:
If I do a factory reset, will I lose root? I really want to get rid of the stupid non-responsive problem, but I don't want to lose root.
If I load a custom ROM, do I need a specific version of Android to do it? I don't want to load and incompatible ROM and brick my phone.
I've seen posts of people trying to go back to KitKat. Are there any issues with Lollipop that would make my phone issues worse?
Since I can't take OTA updates, how would I upgrade my Android if I have to? Will I lose root if I upgrade?
Thanks for any help you can give me!

Thanks for replying. I have a LG D851 (T-Mobile).
So far I've done a nandroid backup and used titanium backup for apps and data.
I downloaded CloudyG3 2.5. Does this contain the Android update, or do I have to update Android before loading Cloudy?

I just have to boot into recovery, wipe dalvik, system, data, and cache, install Cloudy, and I'm good, right?

Repairing damaged recovery partition on Huawei Y560-U02 - Solved

I watched a few videos on YouTube on how to upgrade the Android O/S but none of them mentioned that it needs to unlock the bootloader 1st.
So before I found out that I need to unlock it I tried installing ROM before I knew that.
The phone came with Android Kitkat 4.4.2 and there is an official Lollipop for it that I want to install.
The device is rooted with Kingroot.
I tried the installations two times and the phone still works but I can no longer boot into recovery mode or fastboot mode. It just hangs and then I need to remove the battery to get it to work again.
I just want to restore it back to what it was before and then I will work on unlocking the bootloader.
I prefer to use tools that are free of cost.
Issue has been resolved.
I flashed the device with a pac file using SPD upgrade tool and now all is back to default.

Hi. I recently messed up my phone (Y560-U02)! Please help me.
Can you please tell me where I can find the "pac file" and "SPD upgrade tool"?

You meant un-official, right?
Sorry for the delay. I check the linked email once per month.
Do you still need help on this?
I thought that it was official Lollipop. But it does not exist for this phone.
Yes I can help you get it to what ever you need but it is not easy if you want to do more than just resorted it back to default.
I will tell you more if you still need it.
