[Q] Samsung Music crashes when I select Artist - Verizon Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I just noticed today when I select artist in samsung music, the app crashes. i have wiped data, wiped cache and rebooted but it still does the same thing. All the other tabs work just fine, just not artist. Anyone else seeing this or have a suggested fix for it?

Anyone have this problem?

Originally, I didnt have any music locally stored on my device. After seeing your post, I found a few mixtapes(full albums), downloaded them, extracted the zips and they all work without any problems including using all of the tabs in the music app. So i'm not sure where the problem for you may be...
Edit
Are you running in ART mode?

Ok, here's the deal. So last night i pulled the SD card, wiped all custom files that are written from the phone (android folder etc. ), wiped the internal device storage and factory reset. The problem is now gone. I don't know what caused it but now it's fixed. Chalk one up to dumb luck.

[Q] Media process totally draining my battery???

Hey guys. I have a pretty serious problem with the "Media" process draining my battery. I read on another thread on XDA (on the galaxy nexus phone) about others with this problem. The general consensus was do a full wipe and it would fix. I was running CM 10.0.0 stable and decided to do a full wipe and update to 10.1.
Clockwork Mod Recovery
Format data
Format system
Clear Cache
Clear Dalvik
Flash newest CM 10.1 nightly
Flash google apps
Fix permissions
Then I put on the newest KT Kernal so I
Flashed kernal
clear cache
clear dalvik
fix permissions
After all of this, I STILL get the media proccess eating up my battery. In addtion I get the message saying "SD card unexpectedly removed". Maybe the two are related? Does anyone have any suggestions? These two problems are driving me crazy!

Your installation process seems to be correct... About the media thing, does it drain EVERYTIME? Or just the first hour or so after your first boot? I get that, but it's because Google is restoring my account to my phone so it's re-downloading all my apps, hence the huge Media Process battery drain. After that, it's all gone. See if it's that.
No it is every time. My phone exchange gets hot as hell too. This is around for the clock and it has cut my battery life in half

I had this problem 3 different times. Twice, it was some funky MP3s or something on my external SD card. 1st time: wiping SD card and putting it all back worked. 2nd time, I had to do more: wiped it, ran my MP3s through a MP3 checker (found about 30 different errors), removed some MP3s I didn't listen to, and put it back--that worked.
The third time Media just ravaged my battery was because of CWM's roughly implemented /blobs folder for backups. Deleting the /blobs and instead making a *.tar backup fixed (though I eventually switched to TWRP).

Now it happened for a fourth time! This time it was caused by a rogue app called Podkicker: uninstalling fixed it immediately!
I had this issue with Rocket Audio, and only while I listened to music. I started using the "Android Music Player" which is made by the same people as rocket audio and the problem went away. I've never had the issue while the music was off.

Which rom/os you are using? Either your problem is not about hardware. Check the file properties if they're System Protected (Windows), these files mostly won't shown in phone, this is said to be virus problem. Which is the company of your memory card? Because cheap mc's from unknown vendors can cause such problem!

How about putting a .nomedia file in the cache dir?
I have the same problems. the .nomedia way does not solve the problem, it only hides it. there are still so many thumbails, even of pictures I have deleted a while ago. I look for a way that the phone does not create them.
is there already a solutin for this problem?
clean the cache for the album app. or just click on the clear data
maybe get clean master app (no root) and will clean the trash from the phone

I too am having this issue. I'm running all stock 4.4.4 Clearing the cache removes the actual image but then I have to delete the empty thumbnail manually. That said, after a day or two the thumbnails come back. I am at over 100 thumbnails and it's freaking annoying
I've got also this issue.
Found some instructions but actually none were working for me.

Hi all, I had same issue, here are two solutions, both helped to me:
1. using file manager go to folder "cache" which is in videos, music, photos, delete all folders inside, then change the folder name from "cache" to any other in all three places (music, video, photos)... and that's it.
2. because I had other issues not related to the "thumbnails" I decided to proceed "factory reset" in phone settings, then after that using sony pc companoin I did "phone repair"....
Please try - I can't guarantee that it's 100% working, but both solutions helped me... good luck...

Using File Manager, i was unable to locate the Cache folder in any of the folders you listed. (I am under the SD0 folder). Do you mind uploading a screenshot of that folder?
A factory restore didn't fix the issue either.
Hi it's File commander, then go to phone memory then android... Data... Com.sonyericsson.album, com.sonyericsson.music, com.sonyericsoon.movies. Then you will find folder 'files' and 'cache'.thats the one U are looking for. Delete everything inside and change the name. Like I said- it helped to me.

The folder will be recreated, so changing the name is unnecessary. Deleting it just removes old thumbs.
I don't know but in my case it helped for 3 days untill I reloaded full OS because of other issues. I'm not a tech genius...:-B

OBB Data Mysteriously gets deleted! Help Please.

Okay I have a serious issue. Randomly after moving my game data from PC to Android/obb the files mysteriously poof.
The really strange part is, is that they are not getting deleted, my file system still shows that the space is being used.
The files are nowhere to be found, and the Obb Folder is empty. This has happened countless times after full wipes and reflashing.
I am running Gummy M4 Rom 4.4.4, this seems to happen with or without xposed installed. It also seems to happen after moving a lot of data to obb.
Anyone have ANY idea what is going on?
Edit:
Upon further investigation, what seems to be happening is
After moving data to /sdcard/android/obb via pc (mtp) and rebooting
the data then moves itself to
/data/media/0/android/obb
I have no idea why it is doing this. Anybody have a fix?
UPDATE :
Ok so I figured out a workaround for this issue if anyone else is experiencing it.
Basically my obb files were disappearing after a reboot, this was after me doing a fresh rom flash and restoring the data back to obb folder.
They were then being moved to /data/media/0/android/obb , if you move back the data from here to the original location and reboot, it should stick after for that data + new data as well.

I have found a workaround due to your post and I thought it would be a nice idea to wirte it here.
I came to the counclusion that if I did a fresh new reset factory and installing a large mount of files in the internal storage's obb folder it ended up being deleted after rebotting my tablet.
So I decided to do a few steps the next time I reseted my tablet. First, I copied my files using my pc into the SD Card. Then, I installed a random game from Google Play so the tablet could "adapt itself" and install its own obb folder. After that, I installed my apps but not all at once but one at the time and rebooting after every installation for making sure it was all ok.
It concluded not having the error again and after having deleted the random game from the begining my tablet had finally worked.
Hope this idea helps someone having the same problem as I did. Just don't copy all obb files at once, don't copying it directly from the computer but copying them from the SD Card and install some random game for making sure it can at least hold those obb files.
Good luck!
Hi i just had a similar problem with my huawei nova 3e(p20 lite). I was playing gta:sa and it seems started crashing a lot so i did what the developer said and cleared te cache for gta sa then powered off the phone for a few minutes before turning it back on. Before doing thos step i also use the huawei 'clean up' function under the optimiser seeing as it has these functions built in. When the phone powered back on and tried to play gta sa and it started trying to download the obbs then failed to launch and i went to the file explorer to find out all my obbs were gone.
I have never made a backup of my phone data so the data recovery methods that google suggests wont fix anything as i didnt back them up and i havent got an sd card in the phone so it's not likely that the phone has moved them elsewhere like what happened to the original poster.
Is it possible the cleanup function in the optimizer somehow recognized all the contents of my obb folder as being junk and deleted them all? But that is unlikely as i do this process many times a day when gta starts crashing and once the caches are clear and the phones ram is optimised the game runs fine every other time after a reset. If the files moved somewhere like original poster where might i find them seeing as i dont have an sd card? And if that isnt the case then i suppose i have little choice but to habve to re
download the huge obb files every time the phone wants to delete them? (another thing i noticed is that it was literallt only the obb files gone, my save gamea etc are still present and im a littlest worried if i track down the obbs and put them back or worst comes tl worst redownload them agqin, will rhis make app clear all its current data and delete my saves?

Ringtones & Notifications sounds not appering on Lg G3

Hello,
I had a problem with my SD card, and had to format it. I copied everything in my laptop, format it and then copied everything back.
After that, any of my photos from the SD was not showing in the Gallery. After a quick google search, I installed media.Re.Scan , scanned whit it, and all my picture is now showing in Gallery.
Another thing I did was to clear cache in MediaStorage app. And I think that was the trigger.
After that default ringtones and notifications sounds was not showing in phone menu.
The only sounds remaining was a few from Hangout.
I try to restart, Safe Mode, uninstall media.Re.Scan ... nothing worked.
Please, any advice on what tot do, before I do a factory reset, as a last solution.
Thanks
SOLVED
Well, solved it.
Music app was set as default for audio files view. Cleared that and restarted the phone. And everything is in place now.
Hope this helps.
