i have a big issue for JB ROM, this quote is have same problem with me:
philsfan said:
Wondering if anyone can help...
on JB, stock google apps and system apps won't recognize my SD Card at all, while outside apps have no problem recognizing it...?
for example, stock Gallery app won't bring up my pictures, mxplayer wont show videos, miui file explorer cannot count/read video files, music, and pictures, however Quick Pic has no problem. Root Explorer has no problem, Titanium Backup has no problem...but trying to access music or custom notifications for gmail/sms won't show up in the system apps (gmail, mms, etc).
another thing is when I plug my phone into my computer, none of my old files are there (but like I said they show up just fine with Root Explorer or any other file explorer).
I've tried every JB Rom available for Toro, yes I've tried SuperWipe, I've done it all.
Any ideas, fellas? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I've searched everywhere and tried a variety of ways, from delete all files ". nomedia" until format the sdcard, that's fail.just showing some picture (no use)
maybe anyone can help me?
#thats some reason why some user not use JB ROM unnofficial
this is 1 of thread disscusion with the same issue http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1748326
A common reason for media content stored on SD cards not being shown on apps is that the sd card is not being properly scanned, this is supposed to happen everytime the phone starts... but it seems to be a common issue on ICS, even stock roms. I don't remember if JB has same issue.
I used Scan Media, from app market, then after a restart, I could access all my content again.
I've seen ppl recommends Rescan Media as well... you could try those.
It's really weird that you can't access your content when connected through usb to the computer. If you use MTP connection you could try MSC then, see if you can access them.
This is all I can think of, Good luck.

I do!!! I have recently installed this new ROM and I love it! One down of it is the battery life. But I've disabled gogle now services and my battery improved at almost 40% lol It's nice to have it but It's also annoying to charge your phone every four hours. Im retty sure there is a bug continuously running that drains the battery that fast.
NOw going back to the point, the bad problem is that my phone is not recognizing my memory card. Other programs recognize it like file manager and others but every time I go to gallery my phone doesnt recognize the pictures from it. Also the music player doesnt see the music I have on it either. Frustrating :/
I have done so far this:
1. Unmounted and re mounted the memory card using the ROM
2 Unmounted and re mounted the memory card using the ClockworkMod
3. Formatted the memory card many ways and different formats
4. Used a different (blank) memory card with one file
I also read another thread from previous codename ROMs about putting a null file on certain folders? I cant recall it right now, but theres is one thread about it. That did not work as well.
I guess we need to figure out more man. sad cuz I love this ROM

any solution??
Flashed mySENSEv RC2.0 and going to keep it, as i finally decided the most suitable ROM for me to use. Anyway, I have a weird problem, after flashing, i had a little icon in bar which said "Phone storage is empty or unsupported files" and I was confused with this. I clicked it, and phone asked me to agree to empty PHONE storage. What happened? My SD Card got formatted... I am 100% sure it said do I want to empty phone storage. Anyway, i had most of my pictures and music on my another SD Card. I decided to download kernel and ROM again and now wiped the phone, flashed the ROM and finally got rid of that icon, as i thought maybe it was corrupted or something. Now when I got almost all my data from another sd card to this again, I have a new problem. My phone keeps saying on the music app "No music was found" and Gallery app "No pictures found". When I was on stock, when this happened I emptied media storage cache. Did it now too, rebooted and still this happens. Tried it few times. I am helpless, I can't understand what is wrong now. All was working fine before, even with this ROM before now! (I have been jumping through ROM's and this is the best ROM for me)
Edit: Oh great.. Found the reason.. Phone had emptied my Pictures, Music and Movies folder and I need to copy all the stuff there again. Hope it works now.
I am currently using a CM based rom on my S3, but this first happened on another rom too. After I installed a CM based rom that I am happy with, I formatted the external SD card and put a ton of music on it. I listened to the music Saturday. I use the paid version of PowerAmp that I've used for years... I get home from work yesterday and plug in speakers and all my music is gone again. The SD card is blank.. ugh..
Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas of what would cause this?
Current phone status:
Android 4.2.2
Baseband L710VPBMA6
Kernel 3.4.37-cyanogenmod-g5c3fd50
CyanogenMod 2.6b-20130404-d2spr
Thanks... any help/suggestions would be appreciated!

Just to make sure: you're saying that the entire contents of the sd card are erased. If you open up a file explorer (or pop the sd card into a computer), absolutely everything is erased?
You say this has happened other times. Were they also AOSP roms? Did it only happen when using PowerAmp?

topherk, Thanks so much for the reply. I used freeza's rom shown in my signature for a pretty long time.. I was going to the gym after work regularly before Christmas & would listen to my music using the stated app. Work got super hectic.. I stopped going to the gym staying up late & working weekends programming & managing plant installs.. I think I update the modem this year & could just flash an update to the rom over the existing rom & wouldn't lose app or settings... I think freeza's last update was the beginning of March which I installed...
I have no idea if the rom or those updates are even relevant...I'm just trying to think of the changes I did... about 2 weeks ago when I tried to play music the app started to try to play multiple songs simultaneously. I had gotten hooked on a shooter game that you earned virtual $ for downloading apps..(I assumed that had more to do with problems than anything) The multiple songs playing would cause a force close of PowerAmp... So I knew I needed to "clean" my phone... I reset it to factory defaults.. wiped cache all the normal type stuff I done countless times since I rooted my 1st smart phone....
I apologize for the long reply...but since I had to reset everything...I thought I'd try a couple different roms.. I tried the Hyperdrivre rom but kept noticing problems.. I then installed the Avatar rom & spent all day last Saturday getting my apps back & all set up & running smooth.. love the rom & not having any noticeable issues..everything is working & I think I might keep this till I get my S4...seems like it will be a good rom when I pass the phone to the daughter..but after I got it all set... I loaded music back on the ext SD card.. I played cribbage with the wife that night & played music..I didn't do anything but controls program updates for my PA plant...I think I downloaded some new themes... but then came home after work to play some music while prepping dinner & my music was gone again...
When I look at it with Root Explorer it only shows "Lost.DIR" on the external SD card & I'm wondering... WTH? lol Even when I reset it to try different roms I didn't reset or wipe the external.. IDK.. weird... I can try putting things on it again. it's just odd..
Lost files again... Notification bar states 'SD card is blank or has unsupported file system' It wants to format it again... sigh... I can't wait till the S4 comes out..

This happened to me yesterday running cm monthly for april. Sd card is blank.. and internal Sd card is only showing a couple folders that get added back as I download things or such.. No idea what caused it. Ext SD card had all my roms and titanium backup, now only Lost.DIR
So I just noticed today when I select artist in samsung music, the app crashes. i have wiped data, wiped cache and rebooted but it still does the same thing. All the other tabs work just fine, just not artist. Anyone else seeing this or have a suggested fix for it?

Originally, I didnt have any music locally stored on my device. After seeing your post, I found a few mixtapes(full albums), downloaded them, extracted the zips and they all work without any problems including using all of the tabs in the music app. So i'm not sure where the problem for you may be...
Edit
Are you running in ART mode?
Ok, here's the deal. So last night i pulled the SD card, wiped all custom files that are written from the phone (android folder etc. ), wiped the internal device storage and factory reset. The problem is now gone. I don't know what caused it but now it's fixed. Chalk one up to dumb luck.
Hi Guys,
yesterday my wife was deleting a couple of pictures from the gallery, and suddently the phone started deleting all of them.
I trust her in saying she didn't select them all since she also told me that the screen was displaying "deleting 3 elements".
She was fast enough to power down the phone but nevertheless all pictures are gone.
I tried with some tool found on the web but said tools were not able to recover any deleted pictures.
It's a non rooted phone, everything stock, 6 months device.
It's just for the value of the pictures of our kid inside of the phone that I'm writing here and yes I know backup should have been made, but alas they were not made...
We recovered something through friends and whatsapp but most are gone.
If anyone has some idea please I'm all ears
Best regards and thanks to you all, it's a great community

No she didn't select them all. She only selected 3 of them. A system failure, or bug, caused the phone os to start delete everything from the gallery. Photos were never transferred to the bin, which happens when you willingly delete them. Sadly we did not have Google Photos active, so we're not able to recover them from the cloud.
Do you think there's a chance of getting them back somehow. I've tried with commonly know recovery software but they require root for deep scan, and the booloader is unlockable... :crying:

Sorry to here that.
To the best of my knowledge. If you really want to recover the images, you need to keep the phone turn off until you can find the way to recover it. If you keep using it all your data will be overwritten.
I have not been hacking Android device for a while. For Qualcomm devices, you may force the device to enter the flashing mode which can be used to dump ram data from flash memory of the phone (e.g., using dd command). Also, you need to know number of memory block in order to do that.
After getting all raw memory (flash) image from you phone. You can you generic linux photo recovery tool to recover you files.

However, you need to do quite a lot of research. For example, how to force Huawei device into a download mode (like Qualcomm), how to dump raw memory from the mainboard, etc.

Thanks for the heads up, will surely do the reading required, though from the look I gave, it seems root is always required to access those kind of data. And rooting this Huawei proves to be quite impossible without the unlocked bootloader. Well one may say there're just pics and videos, but the first words of my son.... ?

you won't be able to recover them as windows doesn't see the drive as normal mass storage from the phones .. so once u open some recovery software it won't see that drive.. I already tried...
Firstly, it seems hopeless, honestly.
Secondly, we might discuss for the sake of knowledge only. I didn't mean to mount phone storage from windows.
What I meant so far was to access all phone data using "flashing mode" which is used to repaire bricked device. The dumped data should be in form of raw memory data (I used to mount the raw memory image of the phone to find the key to unlock bootloader). By using the similar approach as data recovery (linux based), we might be able to recover files data from the phone.
If you seriously need data you might talk to this group of people (https://hcu-client.com/) and see if they could dump all data from the phone using their repair kit.

Hi, I thought that it happened to me only. The same thing happened to me 4 days ago, I tried to delete 1 photo and it has deleted the entire gallery
And in recently deleted trash there was nothing
I used DiskDigger from Play Store but I only recover deleted photos before the system deleted the entire gallery
This I suppose is a serious failure in rom 9.1.0.300
It also happened to another person who removed the entire gallery just by deleting Facebook photos from the gallery on Rom 9.1.0.310
Hopefully, huawei will solve that serious mistake soon.

I just want to inform you that while copying leftovers files in preparation for hard resetting the phone I stumbled upon a folder named "recycled" inside a folder named ".Gallery2" inside "Pictures". All our lost pictures and videos were there, just without extensions and with some weird random names.
It's time for me to write a script to rename the files but we're glad that we've got our memories back!

honestly I did nothing special, once connected to the computer in MTP mode I started transferring the content of the memory just for the sake of what was left, but then to my shocking surprise I found that a folder named ".Gallery2" (thus hidden in android I guess) was inside the pictures folder with lots of content in it.
I then used bunch of powershell code found online to rename the files using the last modified time which was consistent to when the picture was created on the device.
I ended up having to guess based on the dimension if it was JPG or MP4, then manually changed the extension on the wrong ones.
The result is 2201 pictures recoverd and 218 videos recovered. A bunch of the files were corrupeted as you said, but overall I'm glad of the outcome. Phone has been factory reset and now it's serving again as primary driver. this time amazon photos is on by default just in case!

I did not use any recovery software, just plain Windows Explorer.
When I connected the phone for the last time before the factory reset, I selected MTP, then opened the android device folder with windows explorer and copied the content of the "Pictures" folder on the pc.
Once the folder was done copying, I noticed that a ".Gallery2" folder and inside that folder a "recycle" folder and inside the whole lot of files.
But really, I did nothing more than copying.
And I can confirm that the recycle bin on the device was empty (no file was present), and when using recovery software no file was detected on the device.
