Disa.im - unified messaging app - Amazon Fire Phone

Hey guys,
I've recently found out about the Disa.im app (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Disa-im-Dis...s&ie=UTF8&qid=1424421372&sr=1-4&keywords=disa) which was not on the Amazon Appstore as yet but has just been released following my feedback
The current version, I'm told, is a test version (0.5.2) and the proper app will be available in a couple of hours (version 0.5.3). Plugins don't work in 0.5.2, so give it a chance to update first.
I've sideloaded this app previously and it's a breeze to use. Being able to unify my Whatsapp, SMS and Facebook messages all in one place is quite awesome! I believe they are currently working on official Telegram support too. The Facebook and SMS plugins are official and the Whatsapp plugin isn't, but can be downloaded through the app by scanning a QR code found here: https://plus.google.com/113199831506595147063/posts/dffbknJLmvp
See the website here, from where you can also go to the Google+ community: www.disa.im
Remember that this app is in beta and some features might be missing, but it's already working very well.
If there's any comments that are Fire Phone specific, perhaps we can gather them in this thread in one place so that I may pass them to the developers. I've already suggested a 3D icon and listing of messages on the carousel below the icon.
Cheerio!

New Gmail app on the market?

Whats up with the new gmail app on the market? After checking the version number I have an olderversion. Why isnt my current version asking me to update? I probably wouldnt have even noticed but I went to my downloads and it showed up as a free app as if I didnt have it. So thats when I started investigating.
Anyway its got me all confused lol. Should I just uninstall my current google app and then just go download that app? I cant see how it would hurt, but Ill wait to see what you smart guys say.
I noticed the same thing today, current version of gmail on my phone is 2.2.1, and the one in the market is 2.3(also did not show up in market as an update, just install). I updated just fine and everything works good. I think the market won't show an app as updatable, unless you install it from the market and since gmail came with the phone, and not from the market the market will just show the option to install.
I don't remember seeing gmail being in the market in the past, this must be another step towards googles much talked about push for making core google apps a part of the market instead of being shipped on the phone. Makes more sense that way anyways.
I remember reading something that mobile gmail would be getting the new priority inbox like the regular gmail site has. Maybe this is the reason for the update
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
the quoted text is handled much better now. I can actually click on a link now that a get from a subscribed thread on xda. I used to have to go back to the first mail in the conversation.
also, i noticed a green bar that drops down after you delete a msg that also lets you undo. it's a pretty sweet update actually.
The gmail update was for some small bug fixes and to add multiple gmail account sync
So do I just installit over the old or uninstall and then install the new one freshly?

Just install the new one over top. Really easy.
The new Gmail app has the buttons at the top scroll down with you, making it easier to star, reply, reply to all, etc. It has some other bug fixes, and there is limited Priority Inbox support, in the form of a new "Important" label, that takes you to your important messages.
Here's a link to the blog post: http://googlemobile.blogspot.com/2010/09/updated-gmail-app-in-android-market.html
This update came out yesterday, and is the first time Gmail has been updated in the market. This will be how updates will work from now on, just like the Maps app before it.

Can not download market / Music Beta will not download

Had this issue recently and was frustrating so wanted to post it for people to see/search in in the future.
Market downloads failed instantly, including paid apps - would send from the android web market though...
also music beta when trying to download songs to keep offline they would fail also.
solution: check music beta online and make sure you have enough space to authorize an account - if you have 8/9 and the phone can't authorize it seems to mess with android market too....
thanks
Give the thread a better title. Otherwise it send to be question and not a solution.

I'm happy to see you are interested in jiTalk.
Consider joining in our beta program, it will be great if you could post questions or bugs in the main thread.
Ecris Software.
i can see it in the market, but, it will not download
can't find it on the market on the phone or in zune though...
jiTalk is currently in Beta. Email us to join the beta program.

I have been using this for a day or so now. It is a nice app and pretty fast, but I never get notifications of new messages which is a shame. IM+ is the only IM app that consistently delivers notifications which is a shame as it is terrible in many other ways.
Have you already contacted us by email?
You have to suscribe to our beta program in order to have active push notifications.
Our beta program is completely free.
Also, ensure that the email you sent us is the one you used as primary live id in the phone.
According to our notifications system statistics, push notifications are being routed correctly.

I emailed and got a response with a link to the beta app. I did of course give my live id too. I am going to uninstall and try again when I get a chance.
I really hope it works, but will come back if it still doesnt.
Reaching 60 beta testers
Beta 2 incoming!
key features: much more reliable notification system and almost constant login time.
App has been great so far. There are a couple issues, mainly regarding notifications which I hope will be fixed in Beta 2. Much better and quicker than GChat.

Sounds good. I still have never received a notification so I hope this update fixes that problem.

[Q] Facebook Messenger - anyone got...

... an old version backed up?
For the last 3 or so versions it hasn't worked properly - think it started when FB tried to shoehorn extra icons into the app drawer for messaging and camera
Since then I've updated the original FB Messenger app a couple of time, and no longer have a backup
If anyone has an older apk then I'd be eternally grateful!
Current version of Facebook Messenger on Market: 1.7.002
I looked through my backups and came across a couple I have archived. 1.5.003 and 1.5.005. Timestamps show this (1.5.005) to be released around 2011-11-17, so it may be a bit further back than you wanted but it's something? ^^;
Facebook Messenger v1.5.005
THANK YOU! The version you've posted actually works properly
I'll be sure to back up and not replace it this time, thanks again.

Whatsapp for Galaxy Watch

In case you missed that, there is a standalone Whatsapp client for our watches.
https://galaxystore.samsung.com/geardetail/M8T2sIb1Dh
At this time it allows to read/respond messages by typing. Developer plans to add voice messaging.
Works pretty nice and stable

You may scroll/read through old messages in various topics/persons - not only last notifications from Whatsapp.
And yes I am also waiting to: view pictures, hear/respond voice messages - which I use intensively ( I hate typing )
The only user feedback I can see is it didn't work dated Sep 2019. Anyone tried the latest update? Does it work now? Developer should let us have a free trial version first, i.e. trial and buy.
Works for me. However I'm wondering how our data is being transferred. It's a modified WhatsApp web interface. Is it being all formatted by the watch or going through the Devs server
