... an old version backed up?
For the last 3 or so versions it hasn't worked properly - think it started when FB tried to shoehorn extra icons into the app drawer for messaging and camera
Since then I've updated the original FB Messenger app a couple of time, and no longer have a backup
If anyone has an older apk then I'd be eternally grateful!
Current version of Facebook Messenger on Market: 1.7.002
I looked through my backups and came across a couple I have archived. 1.5.003 and 1.5.005. Timestamps show this (1.5.005) to be released around 2011-11-17, so it may be a bit further back than you wanted but it's something? ^^;
Facebook Messenger v1.5.005
THANK YOU! The version you've posted actually works properly
I'll be sure to back up and not replace it this time, thanks again.

Well, I know about 95% of the questions at the moment are going to involve the new Froyo OTA question, so if someone can answer this I'd appreciate it lots.
Basically.. I installed the new Facebook app from the Market, and I synced my contacts (maybe it happened before that, I don't really know) but for some reason, it's come up with over 1700 contacts.. All the same people, just with lots saying "com.facebook.auth.login" when I go in to a specific contact.. For example, I've synced most of my contacts with Google aswell, which looks like the image I've uploaded..
But why is there 4x com.facebook.auth.login there? There really shouldn't be 1.. And is there any way to get rid of them?
Dan
i've got the same issue except some contacts just show 1 com.auth.... where as some others have over 8! this is on a desire by the way with the new 2.2 OTA update
I had the exact same problem. It's a conflict between the Facebook for Android and Facebook for HTC Sense apps. Seeing that I could only get rid of the FB for Android, that's what I did and now all my contacts are fine.
Is there any way to ditch the FB for HTC Sense? I don't want it, the Android app is much nicer looking and probably works better, too.
Whats up with the new gmail app on the market? After checking the version number I have an olderversion. Why isnt my current version asking me to update? I probably wouldnt have even noticed but I went to my downloads and it showed up as a free app as if I didnt have it. So thats when I started investigating.
Anyway its got me all confused lol. Should I just uninstall my current google app and then just go download that app? I cant see how it would hurt, but Ill wait to see what you smart guys say.
I noticed the same thing today, current version of gmail on my phone is 2.2.1, and the one in the market is 2.3(also did not show up in market as an update, just install). I updated just fine and everything works good. I think the market won't show an app as updatable, unless you install it from the market and since gmail came with the phone, and not from the market the market will just show the option to install.
I don't remember seeing gmail being in the market in the past, this must be another step towards googles much talked about push for making core google apps a part of the market instead of being shipped on the phone. Makes more sense that way anyways.
I remember reading something that mobile gmail would be getting the new priority inbox like the regular gmail site has. Maybe this is the reason for the update

the quoted text is handled much better now. I can actually click on a link now that a get from a subscribed thread on xda. I used to have to go back to the first mail in the conversation.
also, i noticed a green bar that drops down after you delete a msg that also lets you undo. it's a pretty sweet update actually.
The gmail update was for some small bug fixes and to add multiple gmail account sync
So do I just installit over the old or uninstall and then install the new one freshly?

Just install the new one over top. Really easy.
The new Gmail app has the buttons at the top scroll down with you, making it easier to star, reply, reply to all, etc. It has some other bug fixes, and there is limited Priority Inbox support, in the form of a new "Important" label, that takes you to your important messages.
Here's a link to the blog post: http://googlemobile.blogspot.com/2010/09/updated-gmail-app-in-android-market.html
This update came out yesterday, and is the first time Gmail has been updated in the market. This will be how updates will work from now on, just like the Maps app before it.
Morning,
Using ARHD 2.1, working brilliantly bar one small thing.. I would normally ask on the thread but it seems its a little heated in there with people desperately waiting for v3.0...
My Facebook sync doesn't seem to like syncing up any more. I tried flashing to LeeDroid 2.2.3, then tried Buzz 1.3.5 but no luck. When it does sync up, my FriendStream widget says 'no recent updates', my Handsent messaging also doesn't put Facebook names to numbers. So Im guessing the Facebook link or update function is buggy?
Is anyone else having this problem? Is there a fix?
Thanks for reading!
I think this was reported in the news recently.
Google has withdrawn its support for Facebook, this is due to Facebook being able to collect loads of data about you via a Google API. But Facebook does not allow the opposite, as no API exists.
Where I read this mentioned that it was likely only to affect the Nexus S at first, due to it having the latest Android version.
Ohh... sad times.. Thanks for reply.
So, I just started using CM7 and I can't figure out why my background won't change.
I head into the gallery, find the picture I want, set it as my background. When all is said and done, I head back to my homescreen and I get grass (which was not what I had selected). I don't know what's up with that.
I use Zeam launcher, and coming from Skyraider Athena I don't have that problem.
Also, facebook related question:
I know that through Sense I could connect my FB account to my contacts and get contact pictures there. Is there a way to do this without Sense?
these are my only qualms with a vanilla build.
I had the same issue with mine after I ran a titanium backup to restore my apps, it had a pic as my ground image, when I went to change it to something else, the pic was still on the homescreen. there were some other issues I didnt want to deal with, such as not all of my apps transferred over and google auto send them to the phone, so i went back to skyraider 3.5

I dont know why your background img wont change but i can help you out with the facebook.
if you download facebook for android and go to options you will see a sync contacts with facebook. just tell it to sync all. if the pictures still dont show up. you can download an app called "syncmypix" from the market and this will do it for you. (as long as facebook is linked to the right contact.)
Facebook for android syncs for you

Somehow this got fixed! I reinstalled the rom a few times (after a failed installation due to bootlooping) and now it works!
I've gotten my facebook contacts synced (via fb and syncmypix, because a bunch of my fb friends aren't using their real names (those jerks!)).
Hi All,
I have upgraded my HTC One X to 4.1.1 (HTC pushed down update, stock ROM, not rooted) and since doing that the "share" option available in most apps is very light on with the apps that I can share links/videos/etc with.
The two I use the most aren't there - messages (sending SMS) and gmail.
When I first upgraded the only for options were AndSMB, AndFTP, Bluetooth, and Download Manager HD.
Since then I have factory reset the phone, including formatting the storage, I installed the bare minimum of apps I use everyday and tried it again. Whilst the situation has improved slightly, in Youtube when I share a video I now only get: Bluetooth, Drive, Dropbox and Facebook.
Does anyone know how I can add the system apps back to this list, such as gmail and messages?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
Jason
$2 Fixed it!
Well after some more googling I found about an app called AndShare with fixed the problem. I didn't bother with the free version, I just went straight to the Pro and it worked an abosolute treat.
This is not spam - I just thought i'd update the thread for anyone else who discovers this same problem in future.

I have the exact same problem! I can't find the app you mentioned though, happen to have a market link for it? That'd be much appreciated!
I have the same issue. In my case it's just the Gmail app I an missing. It is out of the share menu in every app... Is there a solution yet? Where can one find this Andshare app? Thank you
