I have tried a hard reset with the volume up button + power button until vibrates then switching screen lock on and off. I see the Erasing user data...Erasing cache... come up then I let go and all it does is gives me the acer logo and proceeds to bootup like normal. I have tried about 100 times lol
I am just trying to figure out how to reset the password on the device I purchased it and it was locked.
I have tried the update.zip thing which didn't work (see below)
Erasing Cache before SD update
SD Update cmd: recovery
--update-package=SDCARD: update.zip
Booting recovery kernel image
Recovery verified failed ...
The bootloader is: Bootloader v0.03.13-ICS: Starting fastboot USB download protocol
I am not sure if the bootloader is locked or not and I don't know if the tablet is rooted how would I check?
Thanks.

Sounds like someone relocked the boot loader with a custom recovery installed. It'll say unlocked if it is.
You could let it boot android and see if you can still adb in and get it unlocked again, if its failing to boot android and recovery you bought a tablet someone bricked.

Yeah I think it's bricked luckily the guy at the pawn shop said I could take it back within 30 days since I purchased it with the unknown password on it.
I managed to get a 32gb Nexus 7 from craigslist for $170 today so happy with that.
Thanks!!

I'm having the exact same issue. I'll let you know what I figure out. I've had mine rooted previously, but have since done a stock ICS update, which removed root. I let the kid play with it for a year and now it's in the exact state you describe. I'm hoping to get it going so I don't need to buy him another tablet!
did you fix this?? im having this issue
Hello,
After last one 4.2.2 update my phone was stuck at the HTC One Beats audio logo.
Then I tried restoring nandroid backup(with CID HTC__038)(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975140) and then flashing boot.img. But this left me with no touch support.
So I tried a rom from here(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2107669) but then my phone stuck at HTC Quietly brilliant logo even after flashing boot.img.
Now when I tried to restore the nandroid back from the first link, the phone worked and the touch was working again. But this time, the phone doesn't show any carrier networks. flashing with the boot.mg from this nandroid stopped the phone's touch from working, but then the carrier network came back.
So what do I do next?
My HBOOT version is 1.73.0000
The second should work, did you perform a real full wipe before installing the rom.zip ?
sent from my .......
Yes I cleared any caches and formatted by partitions using the recovery.
Also I did clear the cache using fastboot command, but still no luck. I heard something like AROMA installer's boot.img won't work or something like that. Could that be the problem?
And thanks for replying.
What recovery are you using so i can describe all steps in detail
sent from my .......
TWRP recovery.
BTW I think you should know this. My phone was stuck at boot screen(the htc one beats audio logo) after I did the latest update. I was doing this for recovering from that.
Try this :
Flash this recovery
https://db.tt/MNtVjpOJ
Rename the file to recovery.img and flash it
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Then flash the boot.img from the sd rom.zip
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
Then enter the recovery and do :
Factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Advanced - wipe dalvik cache
Mounts & storage - format cache, data, system
Then install the sd rom.zip and reboot

I think you had suggested this same steps to someone else in here right?
I am not sure, but if you had I have already tried it.
Anyway I will try to do it again. Thanks so much for this!
Yep but its a method that should work flawlessly ! If not report back and see for other solutions

Guys
really need some help here. Stupidly i decided i wanted to try my hand at installing clean rom,.
Firstly -
1. i rooted the device, and then used titanium backup to freeze some knox apps.
2. I didnt bother to put the stock recovery back on as i wanted to install clean ROM.
3. I followed the instructions i found on here to a tee - as below. They all worked perfectly.
4. I went through the install screens on CLEAN ROM - that all worked fine.
5. It ended with a screen back to TWRP and i hit reboot.
6. Not the device just gets stuck at the glowing samsung logo.
7. I can get back into TWRP but i have no idea what to do next. I have tried rebooting from TWRP, both system and power, but no luck. The device powers down, and comes back up but remains stuck on the glowing samsung logo.
What can i do?
these were the instructions i followed. Any help much appreciated, and i will chuck a couple of quid towards someone that can help.
3.
Download latest CleanRom and copy it to your SD-Card
4. ODIN
- Run Odin as administrator
- untick -Auto Reboot-
- Click -PDA- (in latest version it's -AP-) and choose your TWRP version
- Now turn off your device and restart it by holding down Power+Volume Down. Proceed with Volume Up to enter DownloadMode
- now connect your device to your PC using USB
- Device drivers should get installed if not already done
- check the Message box in Odin. There should be an "Added!!"
- There should be nothing checked but F. Reset Time
- Press -Start-
- when finished there should be a "RES OK !!" in the Message box
- TRWP is now flashed to your device
4.1.
Now restart your device manually by holding down Power+Volume Up. As soon as you see the Samsung Logo, wait a second and release the Powerbutton but keep holding Volume Up until TWRP is loaded.
5. TWRP
In TRWP
- click Wipe
- advanced wipe and check:
Dalvik, Cache, Data, Internal Storage (should be enough), System
- do NOT tick external SD. You don't want to get it wiped.
- Swipe to Wipe
Now back to Mainmenu
- click Install
- choose your desired ROM
- Swipe to Confirm Flash
- Follow Rom's Installshield and you should be good
Have fun and good luck
If you can get back to TWRP, then wipe data , cache & dalvik, then re-flash clean rom again.
If problem still persists then flash a stock rom via odin.
still no joy
I can wipe cache, system, data, but when i try to include dalvik cache i get a "Failed". the message in the screen says E: unable to mount '/cache

You shouldn`t wipe system . data , cache & dalvik was the requested options.
Now since you wiped system, your only choice is to download a stock firmware from sammobile, enter download mode power+volume down , then volume up, & flash via odin .

Hi thanks all – i think the problem was the boot loop issue. I wiped cache, dalvik cache, system, and data, one by one, and then reinstalled clean rom and it seemed to push it through. Thanks for the support though!
Almost, if it powers on and you're even getting in to recovery, bricked is not the proper term.
Bricked = no power, dead beyond repair.
All you had was a software issue.
and if twrp does not find sd card ?
then what ?..
Hi, I have a problem, yesterday I unlocked the bootloader and installed the recovery, formatted dalvik cache, system, data and something else, when I finish I tell it to restart in recovery but when I start I get a message that says:
The system has been destroyed and from there it does not happen, some know the solution of how to repair Note 8.
Thanks and best regards.
PS I tried the command.
fastboot continue and nothing at all.
I have reinstalled the recovery and nothing.
Problem solved.

Hi, meanwhile i'm trying to do a wipe cache/dalvik reset, accidentally i tap "Factory reset".
I shutdown immediately the phone, reboot in Recovery mode, do a wipe cache/dalvik and reboot the phone.
All works fine, i think, i only Lost all BT devices associates, login in some app e wifi password.
The Factory Reset process work for 2/3 seconds before i stop all.
Do you think my rom Is compromised? now do i need to reset or does the phone remain reliable? maybe some important system folder has been deleted? zero crash for now.
Thanks!
