[Q] TWRP bricked My LG optimus G Pro...help - LG Optimus G Pro

I can't access files from usb or micro sd. Can't connect to my lap top. How am I supposed to put a ROM on my LG? The TWRP is loaded, but I have no rom on the internal SD, so there is nothing to recover. TWRP is like a virus, it wiped out my phone. I can access the terminal mode on the phone, but how do I use that to load a rom? All I can find is Greek to me, stand on one leg, look west, hack a key, toss some salt over your shoulder, blah, blah, blah. There must be a simpler solution. This isn't a recovery project, its a destruction project. I used a custom recovery a few years back with no trouble on my Samsung I897. Please, if u understand how TWRP works, help me out.
Vic

As far as I know, Twrp for optimus g pro can't read the external SD card. Have you download the lg device drivers and install them on your laptop? Sounds like you haven't done so, otherwise your computer should be able to read your device. Once you establish the connection, you be able to transfer the file or flash the oem firmware. Everything you need is on this forum, search the topic on flashing the stock rom, there you will find the device drivers. Understand your frustration, but half of your posting is you *****in' and that doesn't help.

Before TWRP killed my phone, I was rooted and was able to connect my laptop to my phone no problem. I tried reloading LG drivers, but when I plug the phone in to USB, the Laptop tells me there is something wrong with the device, doesn't recognize it.

Have you try adb side load? If you have 2.3 or higher version of Twrp, you should have the side load function. Within adb you can push the file into which ever directory in your device. Other than the side load, you may have to flash the either cwm image file with lg flash tool or flash the stock rom and go from there.

ADB Sideload, yes I have it

Although I have the ADB Sideload, I'm not sure how to use it. I can access it on the phone, but isn't the idea to use it from your laptop to move files over to the internal SD. How do I get an ADB on my laptop that will talk to the adb sideload of the phone? I tried using the ADB console of my super one click, but it could not see my phone. Sorry to be such a nub about this, but every problem is a new one to me.

Ok, I was able to connect via adb sideload

I was able to connect via adb sideload last night, but lost the connection mysteriously. I was able to connect after loading a "universal driver" to windowa 8. Perhaps my cable is intermittent, I'll check more into it tonight.

got a f240 version, can't get att us to work

I can use kdz files and flash tools no problem, but I can't get a rom for att in kdz. I can find a tot file that claims to be att usa that will work with LGNPST, but I can't get the DLL file (labled ...lgflash151...to register as a DLL on my laptop. I keep getting an entry point error. If the DLL won't register, lgnpst won't recognize it. I see some references to this, but I do not see where anyone has solved it. I would admit to not really understanding the difference between .tot and kdz, and why att us uses the tot and the rest of the world uses kdz. Kdz is so easy and tot is a pain. I seem to be chaising a ghost. At this point I can not even get a rom that comes up in English, and I can't read Korean. I have spent a month working on this every night, so help me if u will, tell me I can't read Korean, but please don't tell me I can't read English.

I Started out with one of those and I did get it to work in English. I can no longer find that file. I no longer see anything on that site that will come up in English, and I don't see panama e980h. I searched google for that, and I get "file not found". Even when I had that, I couldn't get the phone to see the sim card or work on my att network. I had the filen my laptop at one point, I must have deleted it.

You have to flash the base-band if you don't get signal KDZ''ing other phones KDZ, try the e980 Central America or the Mexico Telcel 980 one preferable the telcel since that's what he states will work. Also if a site isn't in English use Google translate or use Google Chrome browser it will translate web pages for you.

I now have bigger problems. I can only flash roms that are Korean in Language. Even though I pick English, when the flash is done I get Korean. I have tried numerous of the kdz roms, Mexican, arab etc. Some of them come up wanting a pin that I do not have. I feel like that guy fighting the whale.

By the way, thanks

By the way, Its not about the phone, its my backup...its about the right way to do this, and its about me understanding it. I like LG and just want be comfortable doing these things with my LG Phone. I have flashed custom roms with my S3 back a few years ago, but this is a new batch of challenges. I really appreciate all the help!

OK, if I gt a stock phone...
If I buy another Used LG Stock ATT Optimus Pro, can I back up its ROM and restore it to my bricked optimus? How would I do that?
I could use TWRP for that?

Issue with Unbrick guide(method)

Hi there guys searched around and relaly dont see a similiar problem I am having and any help would be appreciated. So I flashed the ics leak forthe unrooted v ersion of my att&t nitro that worked fine(its the exact same one as hono's but for unrooted roms) Anyways now that att official is coming out I wish to downgrade back to a stock rom so it will update to official. problem is during the unbrick method as its at some points in broken english(not a dis) just saying can get a bit confusing.
So I get to the step where the lg tool is updating and reboots phone and phone is back on and we are at about 93 percent that the problem occurs. the program(lg tool) says that there is a problem with the usb connection to the phone communicating please pull out usb remove battery and turn phone back on and hit restart ive tried that and still gets to same point to eventually program gives up and say exit.
ive reinstalled teh shttp server and all the tools redownloaded the linked kdz file etc...cant i just flash the official att rom since im not actually bricked. or is it better to dowgrade and redo it how i am trying to do now. Any hlep is appreciated seems as newer phones come out things get more confusing then easier

i recommend you to use the original data cable that came alongwith the phone package and the usb ports at the back of the pc !
do this and try again !
yeah I am using the data cable that came with it and using the usb ports on back of pc. also i assume I cannot access the adb commands via the command line if phone isnt rooted correct? because i have t ried but thats a no go but as i said i assume thats because im not rooted.
You shouldn't have any reason to downgrade. You should just be able to use the LG tool to install the new ICS version when it "officially" comes out without any fuss.
If you want to install it right away (but slightly more difficult method), then follow the unbricking guide but use the new AT&T KDZ file instead of the one listed in the guide. And stop after it flashes that because you're done.
ok i assume the new att kdz is on this forum so i will look for it and give it a go i know the link hono had up yesterday for official attv20 was dead link.
oh another question when ya luanch the R&D test tool(UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe ) for select type do i leave it at cdma? and for phone mode leave it in diag? or should it be in emergency or cs_emergency that is not listed in the guide
ok got it to work i had to block the 127.0.0.1 lgmobile line in host and rebooted computer and pointed model dll on the R&D tool to the one in kd folder and then used the v20 official att ics and slet it stay on korean as country but chose english as language, thanks for hte help.

EFS problem

Hi guys i was trying out the chinese 4.2.2 on my G Pro and it messd up my EFS so now all i get is no service all the time.
Through extensive googling i found this guide and it helped me atleast get the imei to stop being unknown.
However when in the DFS CDMAtool it shows that the RF is in CDMA cellular and i am on a GSM CArrier is there a setting to change this so that my phone checks for both or only GSM.
Any help would be appreciated eg:-
EFS Files (Zeroed out) from F240L model preferrably as thats what i got
Assistnce on the usage of DFS CDMATool to rectify the above issue
Another method to fix EFS
THanks
UPDATE:
FIXED THE PROBLEM PHONE NOW HAS SIGNAL
Good work
care to write some tips/guidelines for anyone needing this in future
Brilliant work!
A guide will be very appreciated

How did you fix your phone???
Guide
Sorry for the late Reply.
This is what i did but remember mine is F240L.
Let me explain my problem.
I had LG G2 V5 on my phone then i saw that there's a chinese 4.2.2 which is where i lost my signal completely.
On researching i found my IMEI is unknown when a sim is in the phone but its there when no sim.
After restoring my IMEI with this method.
I downloaded stock TOT+DLL for my phone flashed it with LG FLASH TOOL.
I still got no signal then i realised that there was an update to my stock firmware to version F240L10Z.
I downloaded it as a KDZ and flashed it this time using the LG Mobile Support Tool in LG PC Suite.
After the phone restarted my signal came back to my relief.
Try it if something isn't clear tell me ill try to help.

At first i was overwhelmed but once you do it, its pretty simple.
The TOT for the E980 is even easier to find as its the more popular device on XDA but i have the links to them over here
Though its in chinese you will figure it out its simple.

Follow this guide
It works for restoring the IMEI
Use the DFS CDMATOOL to get the info from the phone.
Write it down on a paper.
Then get Zeroed EFS files from the link don't worry Optimus G files work as that's what i used.
Replace the ones in the phone with those.
Reopen DFS CDMATOOL and copy back as muchof the info you wrote down as possible to the new EFS Files.
Reboot the phone to see if the info STUCK.
Obviously at this point the signal won't have reappeared.
Download the TOT +DLL for your phone flash it. If the signal is restored avoid the next step.
Then download a KDZ for your phone and flash it. (thinking about it skip the TOT part and jump to this.)
Your signal should be restored.
Hope this helps.

Unfortunately, I'm having the low battery error on the kdz flasher at the moment. No one has found a fix yet so I guess my only hope is getting the money for the phone back from my credit card company (a perk of living in the UK) as the seller is not interested.
Thanks for your time and replying to my posts quickly. If I don't get my money back and someone does find a fix for the low battery error, I will definitely be trying this out.
Thanks

The guide that you posted is showing only for sprint LG Optimus G and not for a LG Optimus G Pro. Do you think you can do a step-by-step guide for people like myself who has the missing IMEI number issue?

The Optimus G EFS is compatible with G Pro, i know because it worked for me. Remember i have a F240L.
Remember the file is Zeroed out so you will fill it with data from your current phone through DFS CDMA TOOL.
As for a guide i can't make it anymore clear, because that's how i did it. To restore my IMEI after getting my EFS corrupted.
But I'll try. Here is what i did.
Step 1: I connected my phone to DFS CDMA TOOL and wrote down all the information displayed on the page that shows IMEI and various other data (sorry for not being specific don't have the software installed on my computer anymore.)
Step 2: I rebooted in recovery and flashed the Zeroed out EFS from the guide based on the Optimus G here.
Step 3: I opened the DFS CDMA TOOL program and copied all the info i had previously wrote down on paper back to the phone in the order i had fond it.
Step 4: Here is where it gets tricky because I don't kno if you can skip this step and go to the next, but i'll throw it in anyway as this is how I did it.
I downloaded the TOT+DLL (F240LAT-V10K) for my phone from here I flashed it to my phone but the signal never got restored.
Step 5: I then downloaded the KDZ with a newer F240L10Z and flashed using LG FlashTools after rebooting my signal was back.
I don't know if you can flash the KDZ directly bypassing Step4 because this is not something i would want to repeat for the sake of simplifying the guide.
But give that a go it may work.
All i can say is good luck in trying.
I can assist where i can.
Remember if it does work to BACKUP YOUR EFS to avoid future issues.

which version of the CFS CDMATOOLS did you use? I downloaded the demo version of it, and when I connect my Optimus G Pro on to my computer, it doesn't show any information about my phone. Do you think I should buy the paid version of it?

I used this one Setup DFS 13.9.29.0.exe
To enable it to work change the USB MODE of the phone to LG SOFTWARE.
In DFS CDMATOOL make sure you choose the port USB ANDROIDNET SERIAL FOR DIAGNOSTICS PORT (not sure of spelling)
Then you should see your phone info show up on CDMATOOL.

I did every step as instructed on your instruction and on CDMA TOOL all I see is flashing red colors of BPSR ... NA ... BPSR ...NA ... so it leaves me to believe that my LG OPTIMUS G PRO is beyond being fixable. Perhaps best thing for me to do now is just send it in to AT&T and pay for them to fix it. Thanks for your help.

Mine too was red.
Just open the tab called PROGRAMMING and then GENERAL(which is the default) tab.
Click the READ button on each box.
The info you get write it down on a paper in the order you will remember.
Load up the ZEROED EFS on the Phone and copy the info you had on paper back the way it was before.
Then FLASH the phone as per the guide.
That should work.
E980 IMEI null
How did you get daig mode enabled on the phone? I don't get to see any connected ports in DFS when I select the USB connection in "charge only" mode.
thanks,
E980 PC can't see ports
I just can't connect my E980 with DFS. The diag port (COM4) doesn't show up unless I select "PC software" USB connection mode. With every other USB connection type, PC fails to see the phone ports (serial/diag/modem).
What am I doing wrong here? I factory reset the phone and just set only USB diag mode under developer settings. However ADB shell works fine with USB mode set to "charge only".
Thanks

[Q] LS980ZVE Root Issues When Rooted With ioroot Previously

When I first bought my LG G2 in June of 2014, I was a tad bit gullible, and I cringed at the G3 ad that came on the TV soon after. I quickly rooted it using ioroot. I'm not really submersed into my phone like I could be due to kids, wife, family, and my ability to withstand sunlight...
I've done some searching. I see the Stump method must be used on this update which appears to be super easy, but I believe the leftover files from my ioroot are causing it to lie to me and say the device is rooted. I just need a little re-assurance that what I'm reading, and the conclusion I'm jumping to is correct.
Do I need to flash my phone back to stock? Then update all the way to LS980ZVE, and then Stump it like it's hott? :silly:
If so, I see several posts that might contain the ROM and instructions I need, but I'm unsure which ROM & Instructions I should use. Some of the posts are very dated.

There is a link to use and there is a zve tot you could use. Which then you would just need to stump root it. And do whatever root things you want to do. If you want recovery, know that your boot loader and kernel will go back so you lose knock on.

I figured out a few tot file options, but I'm stuck at getting the COM Port changed because the device doesn't show up in device manager. I uninstalled the LG Drivers, re-booted the PC, re-installed the drivers. I tried all usb ports on the PC. I tried another PC.
Since I cannot change the COM Port, the flash tool just sits there ready to flash the phone.

Please help stuck at at&t boot logo. v495

Hello all. Please help me. I have a v495 with root replaced by su. all was fine till I was getting ready to install the TWRP recovery. I did not even install it but I did install flashify and twrp manager approving root access but never installed/flashed the revovery img. After installing twrp manager it asked for me to select a device but did not see the v495,496 or 498 so I just exited. I restarted the device and it just sat at the at&t boot logo. again I did not install anything other than flashify and twrp manager. Anyway I panicked and searched online to reset the device thinking I could just start over. I found the directions (hold power and vol down. release power hold vol up down and power). I was able to do factory reset but now its still stuck at the a&t logo and it won't shut off.
Is there anything else I can do?
It is against XDA forum rules to post the same question in multiple threads. Please don't do this in the future. I answered you in the other (first) thread you posted about this problem.
Hi, Sorry for the duplicate post I was not aware.. I thought we just couldn't create new threads with same topic.
Anyway thanks but the waiting did not help. I installed LG Bridge and trying to do software update but I keep getting LGE MTP driver failed install errors.. Holding the up and power buttons allowed me to shut the device off and enter charge only state. Wish there was a way to reload the stock rom but I have not found any software or roms as of yet.

unfortunately for any ATT customer it is the hardest to get any firmware for any of their devices. I dont know why they feel the need to make it proprietary. I had run into the same problem and I am not getting anywhere with it. There is chinese website that says it has the stock kdz file for it but you need 5 coins or some type of BS to even look at it.
Well this socks...
I guess my car tab project will have to wait till we get some dev support. Im surprised there are so few of us seeing how these things were practically being given away at one point.

Sorry I don't have any other ideas. I feel your pain. It's a similar situation with my VK810 but at least there has been some development and TWRP was updated thankfully, plus Verizon releases the firmware.

Probably the same as for my device. http://www.lgbbs.com:41/thread-838-1-1.html. Not willing to pay for it since I don't need it, but if you need it bad enough I think it equates to 10 U.S. dollars last I checked. Note that the one I linked to is supposed to be the one for my device, the VK810.

Thanks for the link, but I didn't find my model's firmware there - V495 AT&T... I would willingly pay to download this firmware so I can fix my issue. I rooted mine, didn't like the Kingroot su manager and changed it to SuperSU with Supersume and the tab didn't boot again. It just hangs at the LG logo, or if I leave it for long it will show the AT&T logo and that's all. I wish I never messed with it. Just brand new off ebay.

Kick me if this is too obvious, but have you tried Googling:
Code:
V495 TOT
or
Code:
V495 KDZ
?
Although I might be wrong, but I think I heard that Sprint and AT&T don't provide KDZs for LG devices.
Is it still under LG's warranty? Do you have the IMEI/serial number for it that you can try to RMA it through LG? I got excellent warranty service for my model when I needed it. Don't tell them what you tried doing to it, though.
It gets worse... From really bad to terribly worse... I searched and searched and searched for the V495 KDZ to no avail, but I saw for V490 and V496. I downloaded both. I tried with V490 and it flashed and booted but touchscreen was not responsive. I guess due to not being for the exact same version. I tried the V496 which is the same model but the T-Mobile variant. The flashing went well until around 85% when the screen went blank and although the flashing completed, the screen never came up again, yet it makes a sound when connected to the laptop. So I went into Device Manager on my laptop to see how things were, and what it was seeing it as was HSUSB DQLoader 9008 or something like that. A hard brick!!! All because I tried to root this device... Some things are better left without messing around with them... However, if there's any help I would appreciate it very much; this is a new tab, still with the cover screen unremoved...

I'm really sorry to hear about that. That sucks. Unfortunately, recovering from QHBUSB BULK 9008 mode requires a TOT file, although I've wondered if it might also work with a KDZ, but in your case you can't find either so there's really no hope.
Are you going to see if it's under warranty with LG and try to RMA it?
I guess you know this now, but never, ever flash something that's made for a different model/variant, although in your case it didn't really hurt to try since either way you were bricked.

@ezeuba, I did a variation of one of the previous searches I suggested. I Googled for:
Code:
at&t v495 tot
The second and third links look promising.

Although the "Translate this page" link next to each search result didn't work, it still translated fine for me after loading both pages the normal way.
If only there was a way to 'make' a tot file from another V495 tab's files... I got the second one now and have no intention of messing with it again. I only wonder if it were possible to 'create' a tot file one can use in unbricking the bricked one... Just a thought...

I've wondered about the same - possibility to create KDZs and TOTs out of partition image files. After all, there are tools to extract both, so although possibly more difficult, theoretically it should be possible to create both. I have no knowledge that would help look into the possibility, however.
Did you pursue any further getting to that page? I can still get to it fine.

Did you get it to translate by choosing to translate *after* loading the webpage? You should first register on the site in the upper right corner.
You probably have to buy credits using PayPal, then use those credits to buy the link to the TOT, lower on the page.

D851 converted to D850 looking for a way back

Hi guys;
So i bought a second hand unlocked D851 ( TMOBILE) with kitkat (cloudy rom) wanted to upgrade it to lolipop but i hard bricked it then used board diag program to bring it back to life but i extracted a d850 rom TOT since the d851 didnt work so now my lg g3 is at&t and permenantly locked ,been trying for a week now to unlocked it for nothing then I read somewhere in this forum that its easy to unlock the d851 using the tmobile app. so is there any way to change it back to D851.
Anyone has any idea?!!

1)What do you mean permanently locked...carrier/sim, mcafee security, something else? If it's carrier you can order a sim unlock code off of ebay for @$4.00 us, or use any other sim unlock services out there.
2)If you changed a d851 to a d850 using board diag and manually loading the partitions - then why not extract a d851 tot and do the same thing?

1) I don't know of a free way to get an unlock code, so if you can't order one you're probably stuck. Pay a friend who can order one for you?
2) If we're on the same page here and you previously used the board diag tool then that should work again. Hard brick usually shows up in your device manager as qualcomm 9008 instead of an lg device, so to get back to that condition you would have to open the phone up and short a pin -
follow the guide in the link I posted before and you should be good to go. I don't have links for any d851 tot files though...sorry, not my variant.

Unfortunately...I think so. If you were to try and use the lg flash tool and try and tot a d851 file into a d850 it'll probably throw some errors - model check, for ex - and won't flash. You can try and see for yourself if you'd like...here's a link for a couple tools; the 1st is kdz method, second is tot: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089
To brick it again follow guide I linked( https://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g3/general/guide-fix-hard-brick-recovery-guide-t3132359), short that 2nd jtag pin in the pic for @5 seconds, plug in the usb, and it should go to qualcomm 9008. You already know how to do the rest as far as loading partitions and such, and if you don't the guide will tell you what to do.
Good luck :good:

It's cool. Yes the guide is for already bricked phones, but what I was trying to say is since you have a functional phone rt now you're gonna have to brick it, and by brick it I mean qualcomm9008 mode, and that's what the 1st part of the guide shows you how to do by shorting out the pin. Once you get to Qualcomm mode you can then use the board diag tool and load your partitions that you extracted from the tot and hopefully get back to your original d851 phone and get back up and running. Does that make more sense?
Again...good luck

I hard bricked it again and then extracted another D851 tot and then loaded all the necessary partitions but the phone still on qload mode i copied the sbl1.mbm of the D850 and tried them with D851 partitions the phone revived but not in download mode.
I managed tp recover all partitions and the phone is on dowloading mode but still detected as d850 so i have the dll cross error everytime i try to flash a rom even with using the custon dll file.
