[Q] LS980ZVE Root Issues When Rooted With ioroot Previously - Sprint LG G2

When I first bought my LG G2 in June of 2014, I was a tad bit gullible, and I cringed at the G3 ad that came on the TV soon after. I quickly rooted it using ioroot. I'm not really submersed into my phone like I could be due to kids, wife, family, and my ability to withstand sunlight...
I've done some searching. I see the Stump method must be used on this update which appears to be super easy, but I believe the leftover files from my ioroot are causing it to lie to me and say the device is rooted. I just need a little re-assurance that what I'm reading, and the conclusion I'm jumping to is correct.
Do I need to flash my phone back to stock? Then update all the way to LS980ZVE, and then Stump it like it's hott? :silly:
If so, I see several posts that might contain the ROM and instructions I need, but I'm unsure which ROM & Instructions I should use. Some of the posts are very dated.

There is a link to use and there is a zve tot you could use. Which then you would just need to stump root it. And do whatever root things you want to do. If you want recovery, know that your boot loader and kernel will go back so you lose knock on.

I see they made a knock on fix.

You can also use this guide which may be easier

I figured out a few tot file options, but I'm stuck at getting the COM Port changed because the device doesn't show up in device manager. I uninstalled the LG Drivers, re-booted the PC, re-installed the drivers. I tried all usb ports on the PC. I tried another PC.
Since I cannot change the COM Port, the flash tool just sits there ready to flash the phone.

Did you replace the old megalock dll with the new one? And also did you unplug then plug in phone after the flash tool was started?

If the phone isn't in download mode it won't detect the drivers to install to change port.

All set. Thank you.

[TOT] Sprint LS980 ZVC 4.4.2

The Sprint ZVC 4.4.2 .TOT is now available on the Codefire servers. TOT is used along with a .dll in LG Flash to install the stock firmware. Running this WILL erase your data including whatever is on the internal SD card.
I had to pay for this.. so donations are welcomed :highfive:
TOT (ZVC zip.. unzip it FOOL!) and .DLL can be found HERE.
Guide to use this can be found HERE. Yes, it's for Verizon but it can be loosely followed.. just replace the verizon stuff with the Sprint files.

Noob question: If I use this TOT to upgrade my ZV7 to ZVC, can I downgrade it back to ZV7 using ZV7 TOT? Asking since I use the permanent unlock and if it does not work on ZVC, I will have to downgrade it.

I have not done it, but I believe others have confirmed you can still downgrade.
Permanent GSM unlock will be erased if you use flash tool.
I took the OTA without root with stock recovery without GSM unlock.
Managed to root using ioroot25, flashed CDMA on NV got data for CDMA, then tried the unlock for GSM. Did not work. Now after messing around I managed to unlock GSM with data. Also found that it's either GSM or CDMA. Both for now will not work together like before.

Unrelated to the update by phone decided to brick itself while doing a backup.
I decided to go ahead and do the upgrade while I am restoring. I can get into download mode, but my computer can no see it. Installed Drivers already, just does not show up in device manager.
Anyone have any ideas on how I can get this going?
Is there a version that won't wipe all data from the phone? i made a backup but forgot to drop box it so now i need to save that if possible and then restore the firmware

Change the port number for the device in the Microsoft device manager...I can't remember if it is port 41 or port 43. Give both a try!

It is port 41, but I can not change it as Windows doesn't recognize that a device has been plugged in at all.
New to TOT and LG in general, would I be able to use this to come from ZV8? I assume that TOT's completely redo everything so it doesn't matter (to a degree) what's on it before (except in the case of downgrading). Thanks!

Try different drivers. I had to use the TOT method found here and it worked for me with no issues. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476
This worked where the modified OTA failed. I did need to unplug and re-attach the phone after the driver sorted itself out.
Thank you!
Hope someone makes a flashable pre rooted ROM.zip from this.

what's the MD5/SHA1 sum for the TOT so I can be sure my download is good?
Wonder if this happened to anyone else. First I installed the LGFlashTool 1.8, then set my clock to 4/1/2012 and opened LGFlashTool. It says something about LG FLASH TOOL ERROR LG USB/PARELLEL. went ahead anyway and selected the .dll and .tot files and changed all the ports per instructions. Long story short, the files flashed but showed failed at 94% but phone had booted to accessibility settings and was talking to me in the weird robotic voice. I went ahead and disconnected and set up phone then rooted with ioroot25. all seems to ok but I wonder if the fail is going to be a problem somewhere down the line. I have not noticed any problems. Any suggestions?

[Q] TWRP bricked My LG optimus G Pro...help

I can't access files from usb or micro sd. Can't connect to my lap top. How am I supposed to put a ROM on my LG? The TWRP is loaded, but I have no rom on the internal SD, so there is nothing to recover. TWRP is like a virus, it wiped out my phone. I can access the terminal mode on the phone, but how do I use that to load a rom? All I can find is Greek to me, stand on one leg, look west, hack a key, toss some salt over your shoulder, blah, blah, blah. There must be a simpler solution. This isn't a recovery project, its a destruction project. I used a custom recovery a few years back with no trouble on my Samsung I897. Please, if u understand how TWRP works, help me out.
Vic
As far as I know, Twrp for optimus g pro can't read the external SD card. Have you download the lg device drivers and install them on your laptop? Sounds like you haven't done so, otherwise your computer should be able to read your device. Once you establish the connection, you be able to transfer the file or flash the oem firmware. Everything you need is on this forum, search the topic on flashing the stock rom, there you will find the device drivers. Understand your frustration, but half of your posting is you *****in' and that doesn't help.

Have you try adb side load? If you have 2.3 or higher version of Twrp, you should have the side load function. Within adb you can push the file into which ever directory in your device. Other than the side load, you may have to flash the either cwm image file with lg flash tool or flash the stock rom and go from there.
ADB Sideload, yes I have it

Although I have the ADB Sideload, I'm not sure how to use it. I can access it on the phone, but isn't the idea to use it from your laptop to move files over to the internal SD. How do I get an ADB on my laptop that will talk to the adb sideload of the phone? I tried using the ADB console of my super one click, but it could not see my phone. Sorry to be such a nub about this, but every problem is a new one to me.

You have to flash the base-band if you don't get signal KDZ''ing other phones KDZ, try the e980 Central America or the Mexico Telcel 980 one preferable the telcel since that's what he states will work. Also if a site isn't in English use Google translate or use Google Chrome browser it will translate web pages for you.

ZVH OTA update.zip

All righty. Here it is. It's 5.0.2 and it contains the Stagefright fix as well as who knows what else. Standard warning: you probably have to be bone stock ZVG to apply this. If you are rooted, this will probably break root, if it would even install at all. I could also be completely wrong. Have fun.
Download ZVH update.zip
Updates don't install on top of root. If rooted, reflash ZVE tot, upgrade, then redo LG One Click Root.
Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk
I tried restoring my stock recovery with Autorec and using the unroot feature in SuperUser but was still unable to flash the update.
I WAS able to get the ZVH update. You can root the ZVH update, use the LS980 Autorec app to flash TWRP and flash the hotspot mod too. I tot'ed back to ZVE and let my Sprint G2 activated on Boost go through the update process. Once i was on ZVH i did the above mentioned. It took a little time and some reading but my G2 is up and running like a champ.
I have root and can't update ZVH using TWRP. Can sameone explane step by step how would be possible ?

OK. I'm working on something that'll get you guys hooked up. It'll be posted soon.
OK........ This is for the Sprint/Boost LS980. This info will allow you to root the ZVH firmware update. I have used this method on both Windows 7 and 10.
READ EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU BEGIN!!! I WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE DONE TO YOUR DEVICE. THESE ARE THE STEPS I USED AND THEY WORKED PERFECTLY FOR ME.
You will need ADB installed on your pc. Here's an easy way to install if you don't already have ADB and Fastboot installed.

Thanks to @Snoop05

Maker sure you have a decent charge on your phone. I recommend 75% or more just to be safe. The entire process should not take near that but I always make sure I have enough juice in case I run into any issues.
This is only if you are rooted or your LS980 will not install the ZVH update OTA.
You will need to TOT back to an earlier build. I chose ZVE.
This thread tells you how to do it. Make sure you scroll down to the 2nd tutorial. It's the one for Sprint.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476
Thanks to @hyelton
Just follow the instructions and it will take you back to the ZVE firmware. Once you've reverted back to ZVE, let your phone update. It will take you through 2 firmware updates, ZVG and then ZVH.
NOTE 1: I downloaded the DLL file found in the Sprint folder. I had to use it instead of the Megalock DLL. Megalock gave me an error. The DLL in the Sprint folder worked perfectly so make sure you use it in place of Megalock when following the instructions.
NOTE 2: Once your phone is in Download Mode and you plug it into your pc there is a VERY good chance that it will start updating the drivers. LET IT!! It may take awhile so just be patient. Once it has completed, you can begin the process of flashing the older firmware.
NOTE 3: The tutorial states "99% of the time FlashTool will FAIL after 85% anything after 85% is just your phone rebooting so your safe". Personally, mine completed without getting stuck.
NOTE4: If you have trouble with Data, do a PRL update and a PROFILE update.
_________________________________________________________
OK....... once you've taken all the OTA updates and you are on the ZVH firmware you can begin the rooting process.
I have uploaded a zip with a tutorial on rooting the LS980. Make sure you unzip the entire zip file and open the README 1st!
I looked at several methods before rooting my device and cannot remember the original author of the tutorial included in the rooting process and files. I take no credit for this tutorial. If I could remember the author I would most definitely give him the credit deserved.

This will flash TWRP on your device. It will also make a backup of your stock recovery. Just extract, place the apk on your device and install. .

One last thing......... I also have the HotSpotMod working on my LS980. The ZVG zip in the thread will work for ZVH also. I had trouble with the mod alone so I tried using the WiFi Tether Router app found on Google Play after flashing the mod. I was able to get the hotspot working with the app. If you decide to flash the HotSpotMod, try it 1st. It may work for you. If not, use the app mentioned above and it'll work.

Thanks to @Ascertion
EDIT: ADDED THE LS980 AUTOREC apk. You'll need it to flash TWRP.
One more thing. As far as I know, none of the custom ROMs have the ZVH patch for stagefright. If you flash one of those builds, as I understand it, you will lose the stagefright patch. Just wanted to make sure that info is known.
EDIT 2:
Please read this before proceeding. Some members have experienced an issue with the send command. Spawn found a fix that has worked for several users. Please be sure to click the THANKS tab on this post.

@wetbiker7, This is the same method I've used several time to get root on zvh. It hasn't worked yet.
For some reason when I run the last "sh" command, the cmd window gives me no feedback and just sits there.
I've left it running for 30 mins before pulling my phone and restarting it.
I'm using the correct "diag" port so I don't understand what the problem is.
Any ideas as to what's going on?
Thanks!

Are you running Windows 8 by chance? A buddy of mine couldn't get it to work on 8. Even if your not running Windows 8, try it on another computer.
Edit : I'll run through the process tomorrow and see if I can get it figured out for you.

Did you enable USB debugging in the developer section on your phone settings?
Did your pc update drivers when you had put the phone in download mode and connect it to the pc? It should have.
Are you running Windows 8 by chance? A buddy of mine couldn't root his on 8. I've tried it on both 7 and 10.
Also, I had to unplug my phone and plug it into the pc again to get the pc to recognize it.
About ZVI update
Here http://opensource.lge.com/osSch/list?types=ALL&search=ls980 i've finded ZVI zip. But I've think this is the only source code?! Does anybody receive ZVI OTA update?
its odd everything seems to work until I reach the Send_Command.exe \\.\COM4 part
my COM is COM41 so I did COM41 instead idk if that breaks the process but basically when I run the SH command it just hangs Download Mode seems to be where most of my recent Rooting Attempts fail any ideas what would cause it to hang on running the lg_root.sh?
(update) oddly had to type ENTER rerun the send command then rerun the script now im rooted it looks like IDK why but thats an odd turn of events maybe this will help someone else ^_^
I'm already running ZVH and just got another firmware update notification today. Has to be another security update since it's only 231mbs. What sux is I'll have to TOT back again if I decide to take it.
Anyone else get the update yet?

I'm going to stick with ZVH. It's got the stagefright fix plus it can be rooted and has the hotspot mod. ZVI can't be rooted yet plus the changes made by the ZVI update, according to the info I've read, aren't worth losing root over.
Also, I may play around with CyanogenMod a little more. 12.1 runs great and progress is being made on 13.

How to upgrade to 13B via KDZ

My G4 was running 11A (rooted) and I wanted to upgrade to 13B
So follow this steps and you will be able to upgrade.
First make sure your phone is recognized by your PC.
Step 1. Download the 13B KDZ (Full stock image not the rooted) from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-g4/general/vs986-rooteddebloated-t3256814 (Edit 2 on big red fonts)
Step 2. Download LG Flash Tool from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/guide-lg-g4-stock-firmware-to-stock-kdz-t3107848
Step 3. Put the phone in download mode.
Step 4. Launch LG Flash tool select the VS98613B_00_ARB02.kdz file you downloaded on step #1.
Step 5. choose CSE Flash, on the pop up window choose start, then click OK and let the phone alone.
You can get some weird popup window that the server is not responding, let that alone. After the progress bar on LG Flash tool finished to 100% the phone will reboot itself and you will be on the Verizon setup screen, if you don't have a verizon sim, then it's going to pop up something saying that it doesn't have a verizon sim or something like that, just ignore and setup the phone using WiFi connection. And thats all. Now you will be on 13B.
DISCLAIMER: this process is done under your responsibility.
Ok in case another newbie wants to do the upgrade, those are the steps. I did it using CSE Flash.

Well mine was rooted also on 11a, so I just flashed the stock 13b and voila, everything was fresh.
So, no you don't need to unroot, you can flash the 13b over your current rooted 11a

To root you need to read the whole post from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-g4/general/vs986-rooteddebloated-t3256814 there you will find the rooted IMG file that you need.
I'll definitely take this thread's instructions as a shortcut to get the LG G4 up to firmware 13B and then root it. I rather start fresh with 13B rather than carry anything that may have gone wrong with firmware 10B when it was rooted. I also don't care about the vaporware 10B ROM hack.
ok, so it may be a dumb question, so forgive me in advance, I am currently on stock 13b, it is possible to flash the rooted kdz file to obtain root on 13b?
it sounds like it would be too easy and therefore....it might be
also would like to add that i have been following several threads since getting this phone, I appreciate all the hard work and knowledge you guys provide. :good:

You need to flash the rooted IMG file not the KDZ on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-g4/general/vs986-rooteddebloated-t3256814 you can find the file needed and also the instructions. Read the whole post so you have everything clear before doing the process.

I saw that the sprint version has gotten marshmallow already, I am still debating weather I want to root now, or wait on verizon, which may take well into next year.
Step 3. Put the phone in download mode.

First make sure you have installed the drivers for your phone.
Then plug your usb cable to the PC (do not connect to the phone).
Turn off your phone.
Now while holding volume up plug the usb cable to the phone and you will get download mode.
Thx for the guide!!
Im just wondering though, what OS are you running?
I'm on Win 8.1 and am having trouble getting the LG flash tool to start the CSE flash. Ive used this tool before to flash back to stock and dont remember having any issues. But now I have to run the app as administrator and wait like 60 secs to get it to even start. I also noticed this in the LG Flash tool thread

I did it using Win 10, and I start LG flash tool with admin rights.
Not sure if you saw my edit above, but I got everything working.
Anyways,I thought the img we were flashing was already rooted. So I guess its a bit more involved. So let's see if I got this straight.
After following instructions from this thread, all I have is a rootable (but not yet rooted) 13b img.
So the next step is to root it using the low effort root method with the below file
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24269982087013417
But, if for whatever reason, I need to unroot, I need to make a backup of my current system image using this thread below.

I can't seem to find the answer to this anywhere --
Is this the technical equivalent of taking the OTA for 13B?
In other words, am I also getting the updated baseband/radio/bootloader by using this KDZ (or whatever the LG equivalents of those things are)?
Or does this just put /system components of 13B on there?

lg g4 root issue

hello guys
need yout help, tried searching google for sulotion but came up empty.
ive rooted the lg g4 h815(android 6.0-V20c-SEA) before via iroot pc but after factory reset its returned to be unrooted.
when i try to root again its keep failing because of debugging issue (the software keep telling me its not in debugging altough it is)
i think the problem is when i do usb debugging - connecting to pc the option is checked in the check box but it turns gray.whats the problem is? how can i fix it ?
thank you in advance
If you mean the USB debugging option is checked but gray when your phone is plugged in, that is normal, you cannot change that option when you're plugged in via usb.
I'm not familiar with iroot personally, I could take a look if you need though, but maybe revoke usb debugging authorizations through dev options then accept the pc's key fingerprint once again to "kickstart" iroot.
If you've rooted before through iroot on the same software version you're on now, it should work again without too much effort. Also maybe try switching to MTP (Media Sync) or PTP (Camera sync), or between the both until something happens.
That's all I can think of ATM, I'll probably go check out iroot right now, and think a little more and come back, but I wanted to give you a quick enough response. I wish you the best of luck though!
Edit: Forgot to mention that sometimes SuperSU may get uninstalled from factory reset, if the the G4 Factory Reset protocol deletes the system partition, and then reinstalls it, then this would explain why/if you lost root, I do not know if that's the protocol though. If iroot roots and injects SuperSU as the root manager, try reinstalling it possibly.. unless you are 100% positive you are somehow completely unrooted. (Use a root checker to check if you still got it)
I recommend wiping Data, Cache and Dalvik from TWRP next time, if that's not what you did this time. :good:

No problem at all, I really do hope to fix this for you. Are you on the same software version as you were when you first rooted?/Which version is that?
Another thing I thought of, is your computer. Is it the same one that you used the first time? Do you have full admin access on it? Do you have all the LG drivers on it?
Do you have ADB/Fastboot fully installed on it? Obviously these are the first things you probably think about when you think about root, but I'm just making sure nothing is slipping by, you know?
Depending on what software version you're on, maybe we should try another root method if nothing works.
The last thing I'd say is to backup all your data/internal and flash the firmware you want to root on, but I really don't think we need to go that far.
P.S. I own a VS986 (VZW version of the G4) so I can only go to certain extents to reproduce/"debug" the problem you are having. Keep me updated!

Sorry for forgetting the whole reason you're in this problem is because of a factory reset lol, of course you have your data backed up. And trust me, I understand about the brick, I really messed up my G3 2 years back. Thanks also for the device pictures, could you post a shot of "About Phone=>>Software Info". That would be great!

Well, it seems that the factory reset must also have deleted the system partition, then reinstalled it with the most updated version.. which is not good for the current situation.
Notice Security Patch Level is "2016-01-01" and you're running Android M 6.0, means that the software you're on is very recent, if not the most recent. I did some looking around just now, but I couldn't turn up anything that achieved successful root on "V20c-SEA-XX", which is what you would need.
Technically you could try the stock firmware KDZ for your device, which should be 5.1.1, then flash it with like LGUP, but I seriously don't recommend that unless you find a thread that confirms a working downgrade from V20c-SEA, because if the qfuse does not match between firmware versions, you could easily end up with a hardbrick.
Here is the link to your stock firmware, in case you find that it is safe to downgrade from 20c-SEA to 10b-SEA:
http://storagecow.eu/index.php?dir=Xda/LG+G4/H815/
You could try this: http://developer.lge.com/resource/mobile/RetrieveBootloader.dev?categoryTypeCode=ANRS
I'm not sure it will work, but I can't imagine it'd harm you, since it's LG official.
You could also try to fill the checkbox "OEM Unlock", and then try to unlock the bootloader via fastboot. I am not sure if this could possibly cause harm if it does not work properly, so try this at your own risk.: http://oneplus.wonderhowto.com/how-...all-custom-recovery-root-oneplus-one-0156099/ (It's all the same commands even though it says for OnePlus One device. If you happen to unlock the bootloader using fastboot, do not go on to Step 2 on that page)

I apologize for such a long wait time + post! I wish you good luck again! :good:
P.S. You should include your current software version in your OP (Android 6.0 - V20c-SEA) so people more knowledgeable than I may be able to help you even more.

I apologize for such a long wait time + post! I wish you good luck again! :good:
P.S. You should include your current software version in your OP (Android 6.0 - V20c-SEA) so people more knowledgeable than I may be able to help you even more.

i think i find the problem- the adb is not working
i followed to unlock bootloader of lg, { https://developer.lge.com/resource/mobile/RetrieveBootloader.dev?categoryTypeCode=ANRS }
and when do this step:
"Enter your phone’s unique Device ID. You can view the Device ID by connecting your phone to the PC using a USB cable and entering "adb reboot bootloader" in DOS command window of the folder you created in previous step (for example: C:\tools). Your phone will reboot into the fastboot mode. Enter "fastboot oem device-id" in DOS command window."
it says failed to start daemon - error cannot connect to daemon.....
and i cant trace lg id.
any sugestion?

Alright, so I guess it does have something to do with your adb. First off, check your Firewall, make sure you allow adb through and out your Firewall, also maybe temporarily disable your Antivirus whilst using adb, or allow a connection through it if you can. Try turning off USB Tethering through your G4. Try going to Task Manager and ending the adb process tree, it should then try to restart itself. Don't use a wireless adb connection.. if you were trying that, although I didn't think you were.
In "short" order,
1. I would firstly suggest allowing access through your firewall/antivirus, or really I would disable both for now just in case
2. Then try killing the adb process tree in Task Manager
3. Try the adb commands: "kill-server", "start-server"
4. Install any device driver you would possibly need
5. Reinstall adb and fastboot, maybe just install entire SDK-Tools package if you don't have it already
-- If adb is not recognizing your device, which is why you can't track your id, then you can simply enter "adb devices" and it will list your device whenever your error is fixed.
That's all I can think of ATM, I'll post this now but I'll still be thinking of other options. Let me know what happens. Fingers crossed.
(You are starting the command window in your adb directory right?)

We're working on H815 SEA though.
Edit: Your guide is for EU v20d, she's on v20c on the SEA, do they use the same exact software? Is there a pending update for her?

Trust me, I understand your frustration, I'm going to make a guide for you in the next 6 hours or so.
Try a different computer if you can, I haven't had adb fail but many other tools sometimes work
on different computers for me. I've also heard "Dell PC Suite" should be uninstalled as it could cause adb hang ups,
if you have it. @htr5's guide might work for you if you have a software update available, I'm not sure though since it's not specifically for your device.
Regardless, I'm sure you will need to use adb soon, so we have to fix that.
I will try to make that guide asap, I obviously can only do so much, again, since I don't have your device, hopefully it will help though. I highly suggest trying on a fresh/different computer though.
Edit: Try USB 2.0 if you were using a 3.0 port (3.0 ports have the SS along with the usb "logo")
USB 2.0 is on the right:
"H815 SEA Root/General Guide"
@mikmikush
It does seem that you can treat your SEA device very similarly to the EU common version, in ways such as flashing KDZ's and rooting.
I cannot confirm this, but mentions in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help/safe-root-h815-v10b-sea-variant-t3184152 make it seem like it should be okay.

I'm a SEA variant holder here.
It's fine, you can use the Low Effort Root method. You can also flash the EU open KDZ without any problem.
You lose VoLTE, but to me it doesn't matter so I don't really care.
I'm running the latest 10E ATM, and it's much much better than 10B, so flash away.

Yes, that post is for v10b, but it should also work for v20d/v20c. (Not the Low Effort Root method) - You will be working with EU software v20d.. while you are with SEA v20c,
so it's up to you if you want to try this, but it's the closest I can come right now. Thank @htr5 because I believe he has all of this in his guide, and I'll probably send you to his guide halfway through.
You may lose some features or brick your device by flashing firmware/software made for other devices. Trust your instinct!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Install adb setup from here this includes necessary adb drivers, adb itself, and fastboot.
2. Install LG Mobile Driver
3. Download LGUP tool from here (This is for restoring your device to stock if you softbrick via KDZ)
Follow this thread if/when you need to.
4. Here contains a KDZ for EU v20C, which I'm 99.9% sure will match your current software, even though it says for EU.
5. Here contains every partition including the KDZ for 20d by @autoprime, which will be necessary if you decide to root from @htr5's guide (v20d Root Method)
6. Once again, try to unlock the bootloader officially through LG, if you are successful, you can follow @htr5's 20d Root Guide here
7. Be careful and let me know how it goes
@autoprime Mentions that there is "NO anti-rollback qfuse used in this update" (20d) so if you flash the 20d KDZ and it works, I believe you should then be able to downgrade successfully to an earlier firmware version - without worrying about qfuse - and root using a Lollipop (5.0/5.1) method if you can't get anywhere on Marshmallow (6.0). - This I'm not 100% positive about, again, but it is my thinking.
Please thank anyone I mentioned and anyone who's link I provided, they all deserve it!
