i tried to change the aweful grey background in the popup windows by changing some png´s in framework-res.
But it didn´t work...
Anybody an idea or a tutorial how to do that successfully?
p.s. i don´t want to change all colors installing another theme - so this is no solution...
Have you not tried my suggestion in your last thread asking about this. Download my GreenGlow theme and compare images, if you've changed an image but it doesn't show on the Phone then you've not changed the right image. File names are also a give away, look in your framework for images with "popup" in the file name.

thx for your help (again)
btw your greenglow theme looks great (for me a little too green ) :good:
EDIT:
Didn´t find the "right" png´s or whatever is needed to change - very annoying.
I think i have too less knowlegde for doing this ...
And i didn´t want to change the background of the popup windows, but the settings window... - sorry for that

I had the same amount of knowledge as you do right now when I first joined but you're never going to get that knowledge if you don't want to learn or at the least, use a bit of initiative. I've put this together to show you what you need to be looking for, and how many images there are to change...
OMG
thank you for your welcome on theming
last question ( i hope):
which folder has to be themed? drawable-hdpi - drawable-mdpi - drawable-xhdpi - drawable-xxhdpi ???
i hope not all 4 of them

As Pakman123 said, the drawable-xhdpi, .9 images are easy to edit, just make sure you leave the 1 pixel border intact and only edit decompiled .9s, you can straight copy and replace them though. I still ask questions now and again so I can assure you this wont be your last. :good:

How-to:
1. Decompile framework-res.apk, navigate to \res\values\
2. do a search for strings.xml files in explorer
3. Drag and drop all the files from the search results into Notepad++
4. Find using REG expressions:
zzz_glass_lock_help_text_2.*
replace with:
zzz_glass_lock_help_text_2"> </string>
(Tip: use the "replace in all open documents" button)
5. Save all files
6. Compile apk as usual
Nice m8. Works great.
Edit: Noticed that I still have the text for swiping the screen. Did you remove only english text because mine is in finnish?
What is the name of the file you have edited to remove the wordings?
Nice
Can you also make this for JPM please?

For English, it's under res\values\strings.xml
Do a search in the file for zzz_glass_lock_help_text_2
You can also find other strings.xml files for various languages in other values folders (e.g. values-es)
Is it possible to get this for JM1? I would absolutely love this D:

As JPO and JPA seem to be mostly different in localization I would take a wild guess and say yes.
You better prepare an update.zip with your vanilla framework though better safe than sorry.

If it included the ext. power menu.. I would use it forever.. lol
Maybe this is something that can be done by me if someone tells me how?
Also i am a noob with this stuff.. i have no idea how to install this even with instructions in thread.. So i would like to make this into a cwm flashable zip.. with the power menu added. If it's easy maybe someone could tell me how or just cook it up for me?

You must copy it to system/apps using root explorer or adb push. I am working right now to correct the errors, and some missing images
in the same time I am customizing the phone application. When I will finish them I will upload an update.zip method.

Saint's Color Editor v1.1
I developed this tool to easily edit android colors in decompiled xml files. I'm sharing it here to help other themers because personally I found changing colors in xml files as the most painful part of theming.

How to install and use?
Pretty simple..
- Unzip ColorEditor.exe anywhere you like and run..
- You must have Microsoft .NET Framework 4 installed on your pc
- Open any android xml file that contains colors
- Click on colors you want to change and choose alternate color from the color dialog that pops up (the app will automatically identify the hex code)
- When you are done, hit File/Save or Saveas..... as simple as that

Very good tool definately makes changing colors easy. One question is do you use this to change the colors.xml from framework res cause i seem to just get boot loops whenever changing a couple of colours in that file even if just copy the resources file to a working framework res still get a bootloop. Not sure what to try. I only change the clock and secondary text colour. Any help would be great.
Thanks

Yes, I use this a lot to change colors.xml and no I never had boot loops. Boot loops cannot be due to changing colors. It could be due to the way you compile the apk's. For system apk's try not to flash signed apk's. I used to get boot loops when I sign system apk's. Flash only unsigned system apk's. Hope this helps...
hi i want to change the color of like the text in messages, the text which you type out, which value should i edit in my framework color.xml?

How to build apps icon pack:
Things you require:
-Base VRTheme-Here!(Don't worry there are no trojans)
-Some icons-Here are my AOSP icons.
-Required apps from the ROM which you want to modify.
-Notepad++ for changing updater-script.
-Any resizing tool.
-A brain to avoid mistakes and bother me with stupid questions.
-Kindness to press the THANKS button below.
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Steps:
1. Download all the things required.
2. Open your ROM and copy all the apps and move them to a seperate folder. Here we will take only 3 apps-Browser, Messaging and Calculator.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
3. Now extract these apps using 7zip or winrar.
4. Now open the app folder, go to res and find the location where the icon of the app is present. These are generally present in mipmap-xhdpi or drawable-xhdpi. For e.g. in Browser app it's present in mipmap-xhdpi named as ic_launcher_browser.png:
5. Now extract the VRTheme base folder and go to vrtheme->system->app and make a new folder their with named as appname.apk(Here appname refers to the name of the app). For e.g. Browser.apk in my case.
6. Now make res folder in it. And under res folder make another folder which contains app icon. For e.g res->mipmap-xhdpi in my case:
7. Now place your modified icon in it and rename it to the original icon name. For e.g. ic_launcher_browser.png in my case. And resize it to 96X96. Please do not resize mdpi or hdpi icons or else they will pixelize and blur.
8. Do the same for other apps. In my case calculator and messaging.
9. Now give this icon pack your name. Go to META-INF->com->google->android and open updater-script with notepad++ and in second line replace alokbina with your name. You can practically change almost everything under ui_print in updater-script but remember that it should be in the format ui_print("ABCD"); . Here replace ABCD with whatever you like.
10. Now you will be having 4 folders- data, META-INF, system, vrtheme and an image named as preview. Zip all these and rename it whatever you like and flash it with CWM and you're done! Enjoy your own icon pack Feel free to THANK me :laugh:

Nice job and nice sharing but It's to late for me I already done dat in my Rom and soon I share!
Xperia World
Acro S (Hikari) Stockrom .55 Rooted LB India
jealybean Tab 'n' Grid Theme
New batteryicon statusbar
Theme project "TRON"
i just recently tried out the on screen navigation bar because it was a bit frustrating how the capacitive buttons on my acro s would sometimes not respond..OSBs are taking up some screen space though, but i can live with that trade off..now, i was searching on how to change the OSB images from stock Xperia to stock AOSP [as in Nexus4 navbar], and i stumbled upon this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=40319059
the problem was it was only able to change the navbar images in portrait mode but the images in landscape mode stayed in Xperia images..so i went through my systemui.apk and changed it..and then i thought why dont i make a tutorial, just to share..if i posted in the wrong section or if there is an existing thread like this feel free to report the thread..this is what i did:
