I sent my tab in for screen repair and the service rep said for $199 there is a full diagnostic and all repairs will be covered. I told the rep on the phone and always left a note in the box about the battery. I get it back turn it on the battery is at 74% and the sot was 15 minutes or so. This gave me the feeling that the problem is still present. I charged the battery watched 3 hours of Netflix and battery looked good like only 18%. Surfed the web and the battery drained a percentage every a couple minutes. I turn it off last night at 48% check it this morning its at 26% turn on Netflix and 5 minutes In it shuts off. All Samsung did was fix screen and change out USB cable idk but whatever. I bought a new battery before this all happened and I'm thinking I should just change it out. For $200 repair cost I would expect to have a proper running tablet.

Try Gsam from the PlayStore. Then go from 100 to near dead and do some screen shots. Post them here. Otherwise we can only guess at your issue. You likely have wakelocks.
I'm guessing you aren't rooted?? If not, try Wakelock Detectors PC version, it can show app wakelocks without root.

Wondering if anyone else has had any battery issues? I went to sleep last night with about 85% or more battery, and 5.5 hours later my phone was dead....when i plugged it in for like 5 minutes to call my work and tell them i was going to be late...when i got to work my phone said 45% phone idle and 45% cell standby for battery use
none here - took phone off charger about midnight, this morning after alarm rang for the full 10 minutes, it still showed 100%
i've been watching it and am really impressed with battery life - is it possible you've got a program running in the background? - i had Startup Auditor to stop apps in the background but had that from before, on my Vibrant
on the vibrant, running a predominantly black wallpaper, screen brightness at 13%, putting phone in "airplane mode" when i sleep, keeping GPS off, data sync off etc, it'd be down to 17-22% at end of day before going back on charger
this G2, running live wallpaper (thunderstorm), no efficiency moves (ie GPS off, etc), screen brightness at 50%, phone still had 34% last night before going back on the charger - and the battery has not "conditioned" - i noticed on the past 2 phones batteries life got better after the first few weeks of use.
Nothing different than my nexus...and i was thinking maybe it was a game but that should have been killed automatically and i dont think it would say phone standby and cell idle if it was an app would it?
tonite you might try putting the phone in airplane mode when you go to bed, and turn off GPS
see what happens to battery drain overnite - if it diminishes then i'd look at what apps you've installed. there was an article on engadget not too long ago that some researchers had analyzed the 358 most popular apps, and found 30 were reporting data to their "mothership" that had not declared it or asked for permission to report data.
hope that helps
well another weird thing is, that when i bought the phone and brought it home, usually it comes with half battery and thats what it showed but i had to charge it quick with no apps really installed on it yet...Im charging now and will test to see what happens with battery...i just removed off alot of my apps.... to see whats up
I'm getting about 10 hours with regular usage though I wish I knew why Photobucket keeps starting everytime i kill it.
I hope you guys charged the phone fully before you used it first. That can play a big role in battery life.
I got my phone yesterday and haven't done any calibrations yet. I've been playing with it like you normally would if you buy a new smartphone. I took it off the charger around 9pm last night and at 7:32am right now I have about 60% left. So roughly 10.5 hours later and I've only lost about 40%. I'm very impressed by that. My vibrant would have been dead by now, it rarely lasts through the night if its not on the charger.

What's your time with out signal, sounds like the 50% bug to me, google the airplane mode fix, if not you might want to look into a new radio, and you should allways recal your battery after you flash

Hi,
I've recently got a Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 T705 and it is an amazing bit of kit, but I am having an issue with battery life. I am only getting about 2:30hrs screen on time, even with the screen brightness on pretty much the lowest setting. I am currently only using it for emails (Gmail) and light Web browsing, so nothing taxing. It is not rooted and running the latest UK released updates. I have debloated the tab using the debloater v3 available on XDA. I've also switched off mobile data, WiFi scanning etc and I am solely usi get home WiFi at the moment. Just typing this post has used 4% of the battery charge
I've noticed a lot of people managing between 7-9hrs,so I was wondering if there is something I have missed or I am doing wrong?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Ross
Can you fully charge your battery play/loop a youtube video for 10 minutes and tell me how much has droped? And can you show us your battery stats/graph
I have a T700, only had it for a couple days, but battery life seems pretty poor. I mostly use it for email, browsing and Twitter.
I don't have a lot of apps, widgets or accounts refreshing. Disabled any apps I don't use as well.

Thanks for the reply. I will charge the tablet and then report back.
I just rebooted the tablet as I inserted my sim card and it went from 55% battery to 45% after the reboot.
@cjw_101 it's quite shocking isn't it. I like you have no widgets. Hoping it is just something I am doing wrong or an easy fix.
Bit of an update. I intended on running the battery out fully before recharging it and noticed some strange behaviour:
I restarted the device and it went from 55% before the restart to 45% after the restart. It then discharged over an hours use of general Internet use and switched off at 1%. I pressed the power button again and it turned back on with apparently 14% battery. It then ran down to 1% again over 10 minutes and it switched off. I turned it back on again and it showed at 1% and switched off again. I plugged in my charger while the tablet was off and it showed on the screen that the battery was 12% full.
Now just recharging it.

I heard from the same stuff as you are describing here. Maybe it would be the best when you bring back your tablet, that they can repair it/or replace the battery... because this is just not normal!
If you are rooted, I would try a custom rom from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/development
Choose one of your choice and try it again with this new rom!
Thanks for your help.
I've emailed Samsung to see if they can arrange to fix it. Hopefully it won't take too long.
can you kindly provide a link the debloater v3?

I had similar problems and eratic reporting for the battery level.
tried all soft solutions (fully charge / discharge, reset battery stats, custom kernels, etc.) with no durable effect.
at last resort I opened it, unplugged and replugged the battery, and it has been functionning perfectly since, with something like 7 hours screen on time.
did that because sending it back was a bit complicated (import), but you may not be in the same situation.
hope it helps.
Thanks for the reply.
I've just had a phone call from Samsung and they've agreed there is an issue, so they will be sending out packaging for me to send it back for repair.
Thank you everyone for all your help and advice, it's very much appreciated
I sent my tablet off on Monday and received it back today, so I cannot fault Samsungs service. I'm not sure what they have done to the tablet, as they haven't advised me of the fault. They have supplied me with a new USB cable and adapter, which I assume is normal with battery related issues. I will report back once the tablet has charged and I have been able to test it more.
So I've been testing the tab since Friday and I am on target for at least 8hrs screen on time That's with the tablet being on for over 2 days straight as well. It looks like the issue is now resolved
Thank you everyone for all your help
I had the same problem with you. If I fully charged it and turned it off, the battery will be around 4% after 2 days. If I used the tablet, the battery drained a lot.
I sent it to Samsung Service Centre here. They wrote 'replaced Power IC' in the repair bill. Now the battery is fantastic. I can watch movies in MX Player Pro for 2 hours and the battery drains around 15%-ish only. You definitely need to send it in. It's hardware problem, not software.
Hope this helps.
still running stock. battery dropped from 100% down to 0 with 1hr 27mins screen time. decided to turn it off and then try a charge. to my suprise was at 43%, i unplugged it and then now i am playing a movie on silent just to kill the rest of the battery, going to see if i can force a re-calibrate that way i intend to wipe it after.
i have emailed samsung support, lets see what they say, luckily i didnt break the 0x01 with the custom roms. i have my oneplus to play with custom roms, i use this purely as media consumption device, the 4g is handy too as i sim to eat. going off the subject now.
i hope to get more then 2 hours screen time once its all fixed. the wife is using the nexus9 i got her and when she picks up my tablet the battery just dies! shes getting over a day with her tab constantly on hayday! just 10mins of hayday earlier took the batt from 50 down to 11.
its got an issue for sure. i mean how would it charge from 0 to 43 in 2 seconds! haha
Its best for you to return it. Your supposed to get atleast 6-8 hours screen on time. You probably have a defective battery/connetor. All the best!
If you have a lower amp power adapter you
Could try to recharge with that ( 500 mah, 1000 mah) until 100%. Use your tablet until shuts down on her own, repeat the charging with this method 2 or 3 times. Maybe is not the connector is the battery calibration. I resolved my similar problem with this method ( i have now 4,5-6 hours of screen on time and no problems with battery %. Good luck
So I usually just charge my phone all night, no problem. But with the Note 7, I'm not gonna charge it unless I'm paying attention to it lol. So last night, I had it fully charged when I went to be (around 2 am) and this morning it was on 78% battery. Anyone else notice this?
Check some rogue apps

That Verizon Cloud app!! It killed like 15% on me a few nights ago after a full charge I took my phone off the charger around 2 or 3 am and around 8 am I was down around 85%. It had supposedly backed up and done who knows what else, but I checked my battery status and it was on top and it said it had been awake for 3 or 4 hours. Check and see if that was the issue.

I have disabled the Verizon Cloud. The biggest eater of my battery today was Facebook, so that is may be the culprit. I'm going to notice it tonight and see if it does the same

Ahhh, yeah that is a battery hog too!
Facebook, Yahoo, CNN, Android Authority, etc, etc...
I dont use those apps anymore. Just use the Samsung Browser and the mobile sites. Much better on battery.
Mine loses charge at a rate of approximately 1.3% per hour, sitting idle with always-on screen and no power saving measures in effect (other than some debloating with the Ospolice Package Disabler).
Well the second night, I closed Facebook and rebooted the phone, only lost 7% over night. So I guess it was just a rogue app. Thanks
My Samsung Tab S 8.4 LTE (SM-T705) is 4 years old. Since the battery only lasted 2h 30m, I went to Samsung to change the battery.
But they refused to do so as they said, their diagnostic tools told them that the battery was fine, but the Motherboard needs to be changed. I believe there are 'some' truth to that as the Tab did had flickering, random booting happening a year ago (but did not occur anymore for some reason). But Mobo replacement is expensive, with a short warranty. Not worth it.
So I went to change the battery at another shop. The battery now lasts for 6 hours on Youtube (nonstop). Not that satisfied, but at least performs better (and also I can't remember how the original battery performs 4 years ago).
Problem:
1) When charging to 80% (Switched ON), the meter went from 81% to 100% in less than 5 minutes @[email protected] But when I unplugged and use it, the tab discharged at a normal rate (no sudden jump-drain).
2)Charging when the tab is off, it charged at a normal speed from 0% - 66. Then it gets slow as if it was 'trickling' and get stuck at 69%. Wait long enough and it will jump to 100% all of the sudden. Again, when using it, the discharged rate was normal.
So, does this mean the battery is faulty or just that the Motherboard is about to 'die' on me?
I would get the shop that did the replacement to fit another battery as there is definitely something wrong.
John.

battery is at fault if it gets old enough , the flickering and rebooting is caused by a loose battery connector on the motherboard. soldering and strengthening it fixed the problem for most people i found posted on their forums ,
i personally haven't tried it yet as i just replaced my battery after the original one died this 2021, replacement battery is 6 months in and the problem i'm having with the flickering is coming back.
