Ok so I dev unlocked and s-offed my T-Mobile HTC One M8. I used a RUU file to install gpe lolipop firmware 3.19*** and the radio (it was rooted.) However my wifi constantly disconnects (it can connect) and battery life is horrible. What am I doing wrong here? I have a newer firmware I think 4.20.***? but it didn't flash via fastboot but I figured it shouldn't be a problem anyways since its the GPE firmware.

Ive tried to update baseband of my AT&T m8 to Taiwan radio, and after successful flashing it shows correct Taiwan radio on fastboot, but in about phone it shows unknown for baseband, and can't connect to anything and the phone reboots every few minutes.
The phone is unlocked has s-off and has supercid 11111111
Thankfully I did a backup of my AT&T radio before and was able to restore it, and it works. But I would like to try Taiwan radio since I'm going to be here for a year.
Also what I noticed which might not be related is that I couldn't flash radio using recovery, could only do it fastboot/adb method.
Well radio, hboot and recovery can only be flashed using fastboot. Thus will never work in recovery, as recovery can just install the corresponding OS.
Regarding the radio you wanted to try. Could be the OS is not designed to work with the Taiwan radio bands, or AT&T doesn't work with them in the region you're in at the moment. Another guess is, that the whole rest of your firmware, as well as you current stock ROM don't support the radio and you thus won't be abled to use it.
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Free mobile app
Is there a way to tell if a radio is supported by the ROM? I'm running ARHD 10.2, which is based on 4.4.3 stock rom 2.220.401.4. Or should I look for roms for Taiwan version of m8?
Thanks for your reply as it totally makes sense. Just it's strange they included recovery method in the radio thread, they should remove it to make it less confusing.

Right, so you installed a radio that was designed for different hardware and it caused problems. Experiment successfully completed.
I am on 1.14 radio on my ATT One M8, been running a GPE ROM for months, and got bored and wanted to try a Sesne ROM again.
Anyways I installed InsertCoin, and the boot process takes FOREVER, like literally 5 or 6 minutes, and then once on, it works perfectly, but I think this ROM needs me to be on a newer radio for some reason ?
What is the latest ATT radio ? 1.16 ? And can I just flash it in Recovery ?
Thank you
I heard it could be an outdated firmware ?
So where is the latest ATT firmware is for my One M8 ? I don't want to flash the wrong one accidentally
I am S-Off too, so hopefully this isn't too hard
Hey Guys,
I haven't posted in a long time but I have been unable to figure this out despite doing many searches etc. My M8 is from AT&T but has a T-Mobile SIM. My goal is to have Viper ROM with working Wifi & MMS because those have been the main problems.
- I have an AT&T M8 that could NOT send MMS but had working Wifi. I tried 20 dif APN settings and I'm convinced it will not work. The phone has/is...
Rooted
Bootloader unlocked
TWRP
S-ON
Android 4.4.2
I flashed Viper ROM and MMS started working but I lost Wifi. I flashed back to Stock AT&T ROM. I (now) know I need to be running 4.4.3 to have working Wifi with Viper. I 'THINK' I need to do the following...
a) gain S-OFF (Sunshine)
b) run T-mobile RUU to Stock then get Tmobile OTA update to 4.4.3
c) flash Viper Rom
Is this correct? If not, what would I be doing wrong?

No, it's not correct. But I can help you.
To use the newest ViperOneM8, you will want to be on 5.0.1 firmware at least. That way you will definitely not have wifi issues. Some users have been using AT&T's 4.4.4 firmware, but I recommend you do this:
Get S-Off. It makes things so much easier.
WWE/International firmware is compatible with AT&T, so after gaining S-Off, change to superCID, then run the WWE 4.16.401.10 RUU.
After that you can flash the latest ViperOne without any problems.
So, after getting S-Off, hook up your phone to you PC and get into ADB/fastboot
fastboot devices to make sure you are connected (a bunch of letters and numbers/ your serial # should come up)
fastboot oem rebootRUU
When you get a black screen with HTC's logo, you are in RUU mode
fastboot oem writecid 11111111 (eight ones)
fastboot reboot-bootloader You are now superCID.
Leave your phone connected, and download the WWE RUU from here.
After the download is finished, double click on it, and follow the prompts.
This will bring you up to the latest firmware, and you can go ahead and flash the latest ViperRomM8.
Don't forget to backup anything important to you, because running the RUU will wipe your phone.
I ran into a few bumps (lost root etc) but I was able to figure it out. ViperOne is installed and MMS and WiFi are both working! :victory:
Thanks for your help!!
One last question. Its not a must but I would like to get root access back. I lost it while running the RUU. Now my Rom Toolbox Lite doesn't work.
Whats the easiest/quickest method to get root back?

Flash TWRP via fastboot, and use it to flash SuperSU to regain root access on your device.

Done! Thanks guys!!
Has this been brought to the Verizon variant successfully?
I tried a version from the ONXY ROM, and it did "something" , but the radio apps only produce static.
stock 5.0.1 , upgraded to 6.0 using santod040's RUU file. ( Marshmallow 3.37.605.7)
used sunshine successfully, and superSU, so I'm s-off and rooted
I've read here of people converting their non GPE edition to GPE..and then being able to go back to Sense... I'd be interested in doing the opposite.. Go to sense and have the option to go back to GPE... Is this doable? Downloaded this "RUU_M8_UL_M60_SENSE70_MR_BrightstarUS_WWE_6.12.1540.4" ... Is this what I need? and if so also should I update firmware? I helped my dad upgrade to Marshmallow on ATT&T branded phone but his would not work until we updated firmware. If firmware needs updating can a kind soul provide a link?
+1
You need S-OFF for converting it.

That RUU would be one possibility to "convert" to Sense. But as already stated, you need s-off (sunshine is the only working method - $25 US), and you need to change your CID to flash that RUU (possibly change MID also, but probably not).
You may or may not need to flash firmware first. Sometimes the Marshmallow RUU will flash if the phone already has Marshmallow firmware. But since it's a different MM firmware (and GPE at that), you may need to flash the firmware 6.12.1540.4 before the RUU will work. Error 155 when trying to flash the RUU will typically indicate you need to flash the firmware. You can get the firmware here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60218734&postcount=5
Also note that flashing the RUU will change radio baseband, and therefor the frequency band support. That RUU is the US Dev Edition, which has the same band support as the AT&T version M8. And that is different from the band support on the GPE version. So depending on your region/carrier, that may or may not affect your band reception.
