I am on 1.14 radio on my ATT One M8, been running a GPE ROM for months, and got bored and wanted to try a Sesne ROM again.
Anyways I installed InsertCoin, and the boot process takes FOREVER, like literally 5 or 6 minutes, and then once on, it works perfectly, but I think this ROM needs me to be on a newer radio for some reason ?
What is the latest ATT radio ? 1.16 ? And can I just flash it in Recovery ?
Thank you
I heard it could be an outdated firmware ?
So where is the latest ATT firmware is for my One M8 ? I don't want to flash the wrong one accidentally
I am S-Off too, so hopefully this isn't too hard

Hey guys, I'm having serious trouble debranding my desire and spent the last days 'n nights searching for a solution.
Three days ago I was given an HTC Desire A8181 by my sister's boyfriend from Canada. I want to use it in Germany and somehow 3G doesen't work at all(only Edge).
So I thought about flashing a European /WWE ROM to solve the problem.
As he told me the phone was unbranded I just picked the last EU RUU from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667
But while flashing I got Error 130 - Wrong RUU.
Flashing itself doesn't seem to be the problem: My sister's boyfriend found his old ROM he was using before on this phone and I was able to flash it without problems.
It is 3.14.405.1 / Android 2.3. - apparently Telus branded.
I checked with Terminal Emulator and found out that the phone is indeed Telus branded. So I created a goldcard and tried again.
Now I get Error 140 while flashing ( wrong Bootloader version )
Could it be, that the ROM I want to install is too old?
I'd appreciate any suggestion.
Information:
Bravo PVT3 Ship S-ON
HBOOT-1.02.0001
MICCROP-051d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
Radio-5.17.05.23
The Phone is unrooted.
Both drivers and HTC Sync are installed on my PC.
Btw. Any ideas why 3G doesn't work?
Thanks in advance!
Hi there!
If this is the case you could just flash a stock ROM instead?
Also, this may help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=943726 to unlock the phone fully (though it seems like that's the case already it may help) it's quite safe. I've done it on about 4 Desire's without problems over the last two years.
There is Teppic74's rooted stock 2.3 ROM which is very good and exactly like the RUU version, with the exception of being rooted: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1200261
To root the phone, last I checked it was pretty simple. You simply downlopad unREVoked, run it, connect your phone when you're told and let it do it's stuff: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788044
Also, a problem you MAY have is that the phone is CDMA and Europe is mostly GSM networks (I think)
@ Kryten2k35
Thanks for your reply.
Firstly, I already SIM-unlocked it with the linked tool - that was the first thing I did after holding it in my hands.
Actually I could install a custom ROM, yes and I must admit that I already did so before. I tried out Supernova and tried to flash a new Radio ( I used unrevoked to do so) . I was quite sure that I screwed st. up so I wanted to get a nice proper European RUU running on my phone. That's when I always had Error 130 ("wrong RUU") while flashing all kinds of official ROMs. At this point I was given the (obviously Telusbranded) Telus ROM that perfectly worked as the only exeption.
I had the same idea with that CDMA / GSM uncompatability but found out, that my modell Number is A8181 which is sold in Europe/ Asia. So it should work...
Thanks anyways!
Other ideas?
Well, that Teppic74 ROM is completely stock (except it's rooted) so it's exactly like the Gingerbread ROM. He tailors all his stock ROM's to be totally like stock!
Have you tried the offical HTC Desire Gingerbread RUU? Beware it will stop you from ever putting a custom ROM on again (iirc)

Well, mate, the biggest problem with compatibility is a band version of device not rom. If you got it from Telus you have to check which frequencies it supports and see which one are used in Germany (I think you said Germany).
About RUU, you can't flash EU RUU on your device without a gold card because of CID version of your phone.
And if you want stock RUU that will work on your phone go to HTC dev site, kernel source code part, configure filter to DEVICE (Desire) and choose OTHER below it, click FIND FILES and the first one to download will be RUU upgrade android version 2.3. It's made for all CIDs and it will work with your hboot version.

Why should it do so?
Besides I'm quite sure, that the ROM I'm currently using IS the latest official ROM - it can't be a branded one.
FIrst: Android Task Manager tells me under information - Brand: HTC_WWE
Sounds like HTC's official version.
Second: Current System Software is entitled: 3.14.405.1. ,which is HTC's latest Gingerbread (2.3.3)-update. So actually it cannot be branded.
Third: THe old owner swears that the ROM he gave me was NOT branded.
I just found out that flashing with a comon SDcard would lead to Error 130 while flashing with Goldcard leads to Error 140.
At this point I probably could S-Off and root the phone and put a custom ROM on it but I'd really, really, really like to know why I'm unable to flash those stupid RUUs.

I just checked that THIS RUU is exactly the one I have installed right now!
Thanks for this hint!
So could you tell me why only this RUU works and the other ones don't?
Thanks a lot!
I suppose it's because of the updated bootloader, which is 1.02 and won't be downgraded to 0.93, which would be the froyo version.
Btw, this will not stop you from doing s-off (which I'd recommend you to do). Only using HTC Dev unlock will stop you, so avoid using it.

Yes bootloader is the problem, so you can't flash older RUU. If you go s-off (only revolutionary can do so for you) you can flesh alpharev stock hboot which is write protected and you can try older RUU (but I don't see a reason).
So, go s-off and root now and flash a custom rom of your choice.

Thanks guys, you really helped me out!
So far I flashed CM 7.2 and it's running fine - will try to get a proper radio on it hoping the 3G issues will disappear.
Thanks!
Hello everyone,
I just got my One m8 last week and I've been screwing around with it and learning how to use it and how to root/unlock/all that good stuff.
Anyways, some of you may know that yesterday ViperOnem8 2.0.0 came out. After flashing, I've experienced the problem that my boot times take FOREVER. Apparently this is due to firmware issues with older firmware.
I've read a few tutorials on firmware and it seems like they don't work on Verizon/CMDA for some reason? For example this thread claims its for GSM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/development/progress-fuu-m8-t2813792
I found a link to an RUU for Verizon that has the new firmware on it, via: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2727831
It installed succesfully but I have the same hboot (3.16) and same Radio/Baseband (0.89) and this is obviously not the correct numbers for the most up to date firmware.
What am I missing here? How can I get the 3.18 hboot on my phone so the new ROM doesn't take forever to boot?
I'm in Australia with a Telstra branded One M8, full RUU conversion to GPE, with manual flash to Telstra radio.
I want to try SkyDragon or Sinless Roms, but I have to flash L firmware and I noticed the firmware has a radio file in it.
Can I remove the radio file and flash the firmware, or, replace the radio file with the file I currently have from the KK GPE?
Thanks!
Are you S-off ?
If so you can flash any radii you want and stick with the one you think works best

I am S-Off, went back and did a more thorough search and found this (for N5) http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/help/lolipop-radio-t2939844
Will try tonight after work, thanks for the confirmation, gives me a bit more confidence!
You're not going to try to flash that on an m8 are you?

It must be for your device
Yeah, flashing a radio for another device is a great way to brick.
I feel like I must be super clear to the OP
If you don't understand radios are per device I now recommend just calling and texting with it.
Lol sorry guys for the panic, and I really appreciate you guys looking out for me, but no, I was not going to flash the N5 radio to my device, I was just posting it as it was an example I'd found of someone else flashing a radio from a different Android version to their rom.
Anyways, flashed Sinless with the Telstra One M8 radio provided here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=56629450&highlight=telstra#post56629450
Everything works fine, although as a matter of preference I restored nandroid to GPE 4.4.4 as I can't live without Xposed :/
Edit: I realise going back and reading my post it sounds like that is exactly what I was going to do...
Hey everyone,
I first want to say thanks for all the instructions here on this one, it's been a lot of searching, but got through getting my phone boot unlocked, TWRP installed, rooted, and finally through Venom, S-OFF.
I bought an M9 from eGlobal Central which landed me a HK phone and Asia ROM. It's also meant that with the subsequent upgrade to the 1.4 firmware package the battery has gone from terrible to paper weight.
I've got Venom on there for the moment (That got me through Sunshine) and I'm looking either at a stock Dev edition or WWE ROM (To get up to a >2.8 firmware), however, I'm wondering where to go now in regards to WWE or Dev. Errr... OK, just correct me where I'm wrong here:
I'll need a firmware package that matches the ROM.
I'm guessing I'll need a complete RUU, but for European Dev perhaps? What's the CID for that?
Actually is there any difference at all in the radio software between the different firmware releases and capabilities?
What is the current Android version in WWE that's available? (And what firmware more to the point, I just want off 1.4)
I've seen Dev is now on Android 5.1 and 2.8 firmware (And I'm guessing this has been patched higher again)
I assume that Dev has a faster release schedule than WWE?
I basically want to get myself back to the point where I'm getting OTA updates, but my phone lasts a day instead of a couple of hours (I should've bought another M8).
I'm sure that this has been done before, but hours of Google searches has left me well, slightly less in the dark, but the light at the end of the tunnel could be an oncoming train, so, thought I'd just ask.
Thanks for all your help,
Berny
You're s-off so just go supercid and you can flash the latest 2.10 firmware. Forget OTAs because you can't get them unless you're 100% stock, and the back and forth required to do it is far more trouble than its worth IMO.
Can't speak for everyone but battery life on 2.x has been fine.

Exactly...also this is what i did, I had same issue as you and I followed this steps to do it:
DevCID BS_US001
DevMID 0PJA11000 (Dev)
Installed Dev 2.8.617.4 by SDCARD Method Ruu ZIP File
Installed TWRP 2.7.8.1b again.
SuperCID 11111111 (WWE)
Placed BACKUP 2.8.617.4
Flashed WWE FW 2.10.401.1
Flashed any Custom ROm.
Hi there,
This is my first thread here, so sorry if anything in this post is not correctly.
I got the following problem: I installed CM12.1 on my HTC One M8S (M8_QL_UL) but now i want to go back to stock. I bought the phone at Amazon (Germany) and it was sold as unbranded.
However when I tried to flash the stock firmware (from http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/one-m8s-general/make-custom-recovery-htc-one-m8s-t3114245) over Hboot it told me "wrong CID" and Large Image Fail.
Then I got myself the phone's CID and it came out that it was not the HTC Europe Version (I tried to install the Europe build with Android MM as I had that one before) but the T-Mobile-DE version.
So the problem is, that there is a firmware for the T-Mobile-DE one, but it is still Sense 6 with Lollipop and so I am not able to install that, since I already have had MM with sense 7 on that phone before.
Now I cannot find a MM build for the T-Mobile CID online.
Beside of that I created a Backup with TWRP before flashing CM12.1 but now TWRP does not recocnize that backup.
If possible I would prefer to install the Stock Rom "clean" because my backed up one was very buggy anyway.
So my question is, how can I get back to Stock? Is there any proper build to download? If not, is it possible to get S-Off for that phone, to change CID? Sunshine does not appear to be working for the M8S...
And if nothing like this works, how can I access my backup with TWRP?
Thank you so much, hopefully anyone could help me!
Cheers, Fietipaldi
Im in the same situation but for Vodafone. We need some updated RUUs on the site
