So after i updated to K3, and not having the features that i needed, especially write-2-Sd and unlimited tehthering, i downgraded back to F9. And when i got back to F9, i noticed alot of force closes, and crashes. It progressed, so after it become more than regular, i downgraded back to F4, which i shouldnt have left to begin with because i had my Note 3 running like a Stingray Corvette with Twin Turbos, i just felt left behind, so i upgraded. Im not going to blame any Custom Roms, because i only use 3 and they have been the most decorated developers/teams on xda. But this has been sort of out of my league, and its really getting annoying. The problem is.....Random Reboots, Crashes, and Black Screen Freeze, and then have to pull battery to get it back on. It happens when i try to watch a video, or go to sub-websites, or if i run across something life a website that takes a little more time to load than usual ones. I have searched, but growing impatient, and tired of seeing my baby suffer. I really just wanna know what this problem is, who else has experienced this, and what was done to fix this issue.

I was hype at first... all this new **** comin from a phone that only made calls/texts, everything goin fine.
Now I feel like I soft reset about 5-10 times a day because randomly it'll start reacting unbelievably slow to anything I do (I don't leave programs open), sometimes it'll start only reading every other touch to the screen but when I soft reset all is well again and might be for a day or 2.. or sometimes I'll hit the top right corner for it to show the couple of programs running so I can close some and it won't come down... I'll hit it 3 times, then it'll go up/down a couple times and close again, I'll literally play with it for 5-10mins just to close out a program..
Then I upgrade to V12, every 2nd or 3rd soft reset it completely resets the ROM.. so I go to V11 (I went from V7 to V12).. and my pocketwit, cetwit, none of them work, kinda annoying just because I make music and have followers so I keep people updated and listening. So now I'm back at V10, and I feel like the overall phone is just slow, especially after playing with other peoples blackberries etc.. it's just lacking in everything.
Real disappointed I got ahead of myself and ordered this phone just because it was free, coulda got an older blackberry for free and probably woulda been a lot happier.. and I don't blame it on age of phone because I think it's about 4-6 months old if that.. my problem I'm betting, is I've dropped it maybe 5-7 good times, it's been in a case all but 1-2 but still.. if that's the case I'm never gonna own another phone with these capabilities.. I will always drop phones..
Now days like this after I re-flashed V10 it's running great, got all my programs installed (to storage unless it needs to be to card) I want to take back what I've said but I'm nervous it'll fall through... my only problem is sometimes its not as responsive as I want it to be on the qwerty keyboard (or any really), ill get out couple words then it'll miss a press or two, but everywhere else no problem, going through programs, all that works fine I never have to press more than once.. is there any setting or something? or is it just the phone
what rom are you using? it is either your rom or opertor. My vogue works just fine.
Try using cleanRAM
NFS rom i use.. the 1 on this site, and i use cleanRAM, like i said right now all good.. we'll see though
How many times did you flash the NFS ROM? Try doing X3.
Go back to stock ROM and stop screwing with your phone, then it will work just fine
Nope. I love my xv6900. Best phone I've ever owned. I can tell from the short 2 months I've had it. It runs great, I love all the features, and it's generally not sluggish unless I try to do a ton at once, but that's fixable. The stock ROM isn't so great, but I'm not using that, so who cares!
Go back to NSFAN 6.1 and it should be working fine. WM6.5 is still very unstable. So stop complaining and use something that is proven or use something that is new but still has lots of bugs. The choice is yours.

I had a similar issue too! Though after about a weeks worth of troubleshooting and almost 20+ purposeful and accidental hard resets (sometimes a soft-reset would just hard reset it anyways) I found out the issue was with the auto updates with the email. (I had recently gotten an unlimited data plan) For some reason if my email is set to anything but update manually it would eventuallyfreeze on wake up or while starting another program. Idk if its an issue with sprint, or with any other programs I installed............... Anyways the touch is a great device its reliable and speedy. Plus it survived falling off a car at 30 miles per hour with only a few scratches on the side of the body.
I will say I have had mine for over a year now. I think its one of the best out there. V12 has a battery life like I have never experienced. 1 think you might try is to go into the Task manager and set the close button to close the program instead of minimizing it. Might help. KB is always a bit sluggish, but that might be 6.5.
j18yo: When you flash a new ROM, do you flash it 3 times in a row before using it?
I've never had to do this, but it's a known issue for some users, so I would recommend downgrading to a stock ROM, then flash v12 three times in a row (it's mentioned in codybear's FAQ as well).
A friend of mine with a Vogue (also on Bell) was running into similar problems, but when I suggested he do the multiple flashes before using, it's worked well for him. Maybe there's cruft sticking around in memory on some devices that's causing the issue?
im on my 2nd touch vogue and i love it but it's time for me to move on to another, newer ppc like a diamond or touch pro!
i've had my xv6900 for a week now running nfsfan's 6.5 rom v12. it runs pretty smooth other than minor glitches here and there all in all its a pretty fast overall phone
Have been Running 6.5 since NFS's Version 1. and have never really had reason to look back to 6.1.
6.5 is very user friendly by this I mean anyone could pick up a 6.5 phone and figure it out. 6.1 I don't think it was this way.
I am currently running v12 and have not soft rested my phone in probably over a week.

yeah...? so you answered your own question. I don't understand the point of this thread. WHY???
OK, I'll admit it: I'm a huge fan of Defender 2 game. Downloaded because it was so heavily advertized that my phone suggested it in notification - and played ever since.
Initially, the game played lie a charm, no problems whatsoever. 4.0.2
However, I had some issues with the phone and took it to service a couple of times. After the second time at service, my phone upgraded to 4.0.4 and my troubles with the hame began. I should mention that I'm grateful I had a protective foil because the idiots there managed to seriously scratch it Anyway, the problem:
Every once in a while (2 - 3 games taking 2 - 3 minutes each), the screen just stops responding. My weapon no longer shoots arrows, I can't cast spells, etc, etc. This happens regardless of game time: it can happen during the second game as surely as during the twentieth. Edit: Lasts up to 5 seconds.
However, the non-responsiveness is limited: touch usually stops working on the right (bottom) part of the screen, but still works on the other side (where speaker + front camera are). I have managed to actually observe an instance where the border between working and non-working section was extremely clear at about 1/3 - 2/3 split. Moving my finger in and out of this zone would make the game start shooting arrows again or stop doing it, depending on the zone I moved my finger into.
Perhaps I should also mention that the phone heats up quite a bit during gameplay. However I'm not so sure it should be a factor since the unresponsiveness can happen even right after I start playing. But perhaps that's also a factor to consider?
Anyway - anyone else having these issues or someone that can explain what I'm experiencing?
I started having the same issue yesterday morning as well - except it seems to be ALL the time. The bottom 1/3 of the screen doesn't respond to touch about 50% of the time. Typing is virtually impossible and every touch must be made deliberately and repeatedly. I downloaded a multitouch test and it was quite obvious where the division was between responsive and un-responsive.
I'm rooted on 4.1.1 with stock everything. I restored to my previous nandroid backup from a week ago but still had the problem. Definitely seems like hardware now.
I really don't want to have to buy a third Nexus...
Funny: I just flashed minco ROM which has Francisco's kernel and this doesn't happen any more. Played some 20 rounds so far so I can't say for sure yet, but it seems this rom solves the issue where stock and some others didn't
Latest update: the minco ROM does help, but it does not solve the issue.
I will try to escalate this to Francisco, perhaps (look, I'm an optimist, OK? ) he'll be inclined to look into the issue. Seems to be something few people are aware of. I imagine there aren't many games where one has a fingen onscreen all the time...
A lot of people are experiencing this problem (including me). I'm pretty sure its a software issue. Mine started after I updated my phone from ICS 4.0.2 to 4.0.4...and with jelly bean. I would love for some one to find and correct this issue.

Yes, me too - moving from 4.0.2 to .4 seems to be when they introduced the problem. Don't know about lot of people though: searching yielded almost nothing.
So, I got my Note3 last week as soon as I heard CM11 nightlies were officially available. I spent zero time with the stock ROM.
Everything installed perfectly the first time. CM11 ran nearly perfectly, especially considering it's a nightly and there are no stable releases or RCs, yet, etc.
On Thursday I spent a full day at my desk at work. I noticed that my phone rebooted in my pocket. I figured "hey, it's a nightly...I've seen far worse"....then I noticed almost every 2 hours it seemed to reboot again, sometimes more frequently. It never rebooted in the middle of me using it...only while in my pocket.
So, I figured "hey, no big deal. Another nightly or two and this should be ironed out." So I restored my stock backup on Friday after work. All weekend long, no problems whatsoever. I figured it must have been something wonky in the nightly CM11.
Then on Monday, while sitting at my desk, it happened again...and again....and again. Same exact circumstances. I figured maybe I borked something so I got a restore-to-stock and flashed it via Odin.
Well, long story short this continues to be a problem whenever I spend any significant time at my desk at work. It doesn't happen anywhere else so far. It happens with any ROM I throw at it. I've Googled around and it appears that I'm far from the only person experiencing this problem however I don't experience froot-loops like a lot of people. Just semi-random reboots.
Now, I'm pretty convinced that a different (or new) modem would take care of this. I had the GS2 on Sprint and we had a problem we referred to as "LOS" (Loss Of Service) which typically required a reboot...even on my bone-stock phone...it seems to happen with the same randomness. One thing I do know about sitting at my desk, my phone is constantly switching back and forth between H, H+, LTE, DC and occasionally E...Edge being the only thing that gets solid service about 1 wobbly bar.
That's my own theory. This isn't a deal breaker for me. It only happens at work and if I wait a few seconds my phone is back in commission without any intervention.
Anyone else have a similar experience, tips, ideas, theories...? I'm more curious than anything.

I keep wifi off at all times, wifi scanning set to off. I have unlimited data and my 4G speeds outclass my (relatively very good) cable modem speeds at home and at work (I live and work a stones throw from the NOC...I mean...literally, across the street from both places). I would prefer wifi if it wasn't sketchier than my cell connection.
So, it's not that.
How many files on your microSD card? Notice I asked how many, not how much space taken up. Android's media-scanner service seems to have huge stability issues once you cross the 10,000 files threshold. If that's your case, delete some files and see if it still reboots. I had about 10k files, deleted down to 6.5k and no more random reboots for me.
I have the same issue, and I don't have a micro SD card in the slot. The phone will randomly restart, usually after unlocking the phone. I have disabled wifi-scanning, auto app updates, and factory reset device, but nothing helps. It didn't do this before the kit kat update. It only happens maybe once a day or every other day. It's not terrible, just annoying at times. I'm thinking its a software bug.
Also, i'm running everything stock at the moment.
I have been on Cyanogenmod nightlies since I got the phone...and in the past week or two it does not reboot randomly with either Cyanogen or AOKP. At all. Still does with TW, I haven't taken the KK update so I don't know if that will help or hurt....and unless I absolutely am required to I won't be taking that update ever.
Maybe some kind of interference, that's kinda odd that it's happening only at your desk. And on stock.....

Figured I'd post this as a public service announcement to anyone who might be on the Metro PCS variant of the Galaxy S3 LTE ( SGH-T999N also known as the d2mtr around these parts). Mine was a decent phone for the first 6 months or so, no major complaints, but when the 4.3 update hit it destroyed the phone.
Connectivity issues, freezes, TONS of added bloatware ( I was getting unsolicited baseball scores from METROZONE when coming out of my lock screen, and some extra row of shortcuts that would hang out on the left side of the screen and be triggered whenever your thumb would stray anywhere close when scrolling), but worst of all the battery life. The phone would be sitting idly on my desk, and out of nowhere it would get physically hot to the touch, like it was working feverishly on something behind the scenes, but not visibly running anything at all. Pulling the battery would correct this for an hour or so but then it would start back up at random, and burn the battery down to nothing in a matter of a couple hours.
I was very close to ditching the phone after googling around for comprehensible root instructions for the model, and trying a couple of them without success. One of these trials must have corrupted the stock ROM backup because when I eventually tried a factory reset, I couldn't get the phone to read the backup package. This sort of forced me to spend a whole day really wrapping my head around the whole odin/custom recovery/custom ROM ecosystem, and I came out the other side running what seems to be a very stable build of Cyanogenmod 11 on what feels like a brand new phone. It's been off the charger for about 6 hours now and its still at 82% battery.
If anyone's in the same situation on this model, let me know, and I'll get together a list of instructions maybe along with a dropbox link to the package of programs and tools I used. I spent 3 months wrestling with this issue, and I'd love it if someone else could benefit from that expenditure of time and effort.
Hey guys, i need some help. Recently I Odin the latest Tar OG1, and used the debloated OG1 stock Rom that is in the Developer Forums. Everything was going well and after a few weeks I started noticing that my phone would start to lag really bad and then just freeze for long periods. I can't do anything while it's frozen and more than often it will restart on it's own. I've wiped everything and restored it using the Tar and even on complete stock it does this. I'm starting to think it has something to do with my actual phone but I don't know how to make sure. I had twrp and even that lags and freezes sometimes. I don't know what I could have done to make this happen, I had xposed installed, and i was running the beastmode kernal as well. Anyone have thoughts on this?
Update: so now my phone just cut and restarted again out fo the blue (I was trying to set an alarm) and my screen went black with fading lines on it, then suddenly it started vibrating nonstop., had to yank the battery. turned it back on and now it just restarts when idle.
One of my Note 4's started lagging real bad, locking up (requiring battery pull), and constantly restarting. Its completely stock, I've read around online that its likely an issue with the onboard eMMC memory on the motherboard dying. Only cure is to replace the motherboard.
I found a work around though, download an app called Wake Lock (or something like that), start it and set to partial wake lock. Phone basically runs like nothing is wrong with it now. Have about 6 months before I can upgrade so hopefully it holds out until then.

Dude you are awesome!!! I managed to odin the stock tar again, went through setup at super slow speed just to be sure, and then installed the app. As long as i take some caution it is running like normal again! With the Note 7 recalls this really help buy the time I need before i can get one. Thank you so much!

No worries, I did lots of reading online and banging my head against the wall when it started acting up. It was really weird, it was acting fine one day, then the next slow, lagging, locking up, and restarting. I tried factory resets, reinstalling old stock ROMs, taking the sd card out. Finally stumbled onto a post in another forum where a guy mentioned that app. Since installing it, as long as I keep it running, phone acts like normal, that's about a month now.

Im not gonna lie, i don't know exactly what it does. Does it drain your battery quick by chance? Mine dripped from 79% to about 40% in the span of an hour. Not sure if its because of the fresh flash or not
The Note which has issues is my wife's phone and she is a "power" user, lots of screen on time (think her timeout is set to like 2 minutes or something like that). I dont think she has seen any appreciable difference in battery life, but I'm sure it does drain a little bit as the partial wake lock never really allows the phone to enter into a true sleep/battery saving mode.
I had freezes and boot loops, and it turned out to be a bad battery. Strange, right? But it's true. I replaced the battery with a new one and everything worked fine again.
The battery had just started to swell, which is a sign of a failing battery. So, even if the battery isn't your problem, it's always good to check it now and then for changes in thickness.
