[Q] Tab S locked up after crash - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've had my Tab S 8.4 wifi UK for about 6 months, it was a great replacement for my mark 1 Nexus 7, and been pretty faultless until today.
I think the trigger for the problem was me trying to use SideSync 3, which I had installed a wee while ago on the Tab S and on my S4mini, but I'd never really used. I thought I'd try sending a text from the tablet, so when I went to start typing, the screen seemed to lock, then I think there was a message about systemui having stopped, then a loop of messages about sytemui, google, gamp, phone having stopped. (I'm sorry I didn't write down the details, I wasn't expecting the problem to be so intractable.) The messages kept coming, couldn't get out of the loop, every OK brought another, so I thought I'd power off, but holding the power button made it restart without a menu of choices, and back to the loop of messages. I had to leave it for a few hours, to go to work, then it was displaying the white Samsung lettering in the centre of the screen, and unresponsive to buttons. Reading these forums, I tried a 30s press of power, start, and either volume up or volume down (can't remember) which brought up a warning about non-standard OS or something, but then it booted normally, and it seemed to work OK (early days.)
Is this story familiar?
Is it likely that SideSync was responsible?
Any other hints to avoid it happening again?
Thanks in advance, for any opinions,
Derek

Desire won't boot

Any problems with the Desire anyone?
Got mine last night, put my SIM in and charged it for four hours, turned it on and can't get to do anything with it.
I'm on T-Mobile and get a pink circle solid pink trailing off (I,m guessing this maybe chases itself around like the busy cursor in Vista) then it shows the htc splash screen, white background with htc in the middle in green letters, this stays a second then goes off for then the splash screen again for a second then off for two etc., you get the picture. That's all it does, will not turn off you have to take the back off and remove the battery, tried rebooting several times and always the same. I put it back on charge overnight and tried it again this morning and the same, left it on for about twenty minutes to see if it should do this for a while and the phone and screen get quite warm.
Well hacked off!! Can't even take it back 'cos it's Easter Sunday and everywhere is shut!!!
Anyone had similar experiences?
As I can't reset via the phone software I did the phone button one, see below, still with no improvement. Mine is going back tomorrow.
Performing a factory reset using phone buttons
If you cannot turn on your phone or access the phone settings, you can still perform a factory reset by using the buttons on the phone.
With the phone turned off, press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then briefly press the POWER button.
Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear, and then release the VOLUME DOWN button..
Press VOLUME DOWN to select CLEAR STORAGE, and then press POWER.
Press VOLUME UP to start the factory reset.
Cheers.
wow seems odd, usually if ts defective it wouldn't show you the boot screen even. but this looks like a software glitch, somehow, .. but again, if its software than you shouldnt be the only one experiencing that
thanx for sharing, .. , hope you can get a replacement ASAP
Other users seem to be experiencing the same problem, I've had a look on the T-Mobile forums and it's reported there.
Sorted, swiftly replaced this morning, this phone is awesome!

Tab S 10.5 shut down

Moments ago my Tab S shut down after trying to exit a game. Suddenly the game froze, screen went dark for a minute while the capacitive buttons stayed lit and gave feedback. Then it was dead. Kept pressing the power button but it would not turn on. After doing some searching I tried pressing the power button while pressing volume up and fortunately it turned on again. I did notice the back was a bit warm but not HOT. Anyone have a clue as to what may have happened?
Funnily enough the exact same thing happened on my s5 when trying to exit from an app. Only happened once, but could never figure out why.

I had my original tab freeze on me several times. Got a replacement from John Lewis'. No problems with new one. See if u can get yours exchanged. It might be a batch issue
Thanks guys. I couldn't replicate the issue, even after opening up a few games and leaving them all open at the same time. I should be ok.

[Q] Display and touch screen major issues following lollipop update.

Problems with my Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 SM-T705:
1st: October 2014
2 weeks after buying, my tablet's battery drained overnight from 45% to zero. Next morning, I turned my tab on after charging to find out that the Tab starts but without any Samsung GAlaxy Tab S logo or Samsung Logo and the Screen has turned green, rendering it difficult to read in auto brightness mode or low brightness mode.
I restarted the device 2-3times and the device started working normally. This was my 1st device restart. I never used to power off the device before.
In 1st 6months, this greenish display problem n logo problem occured 2-3times, and i ignored it, because, it used to get resolved by itself with restart and I had no service centre in and around 50km to my work place.
2nd: January 2014
My device all of a sudden stopped working.. actually hanged.. I managed to turn it off but failed to restart it.
Later I realised that the device has restarted, but the screen was not responding when the screen blinked for a moment with the opening of book cover.. and the back cover of device was warm..
Googling taught me the way to access recovery screen n I opened recovery mode with "power+vol down+home key" and pressing vol down in recovery screen to restart tab.. again the tab started working fine..
3rd: Lollipop update: May 2015
I did Lollipop update. The device was smooth to operate at first. But gradually, i noticed that unlocking the tab failed to light up the display everytime, just the soft keys lighted up. But one day, the device freezed with no response from touch screen. I was unable to switch off the device also.. I had to drain the battery by playing music using S voice to turn the device off. "power+vol down+home key" too was not working.
On googling, I learned to reset device with "power+vol up+vol down" keys pressed together. finally the device restarted, but the device used to hang occassionally.
Googling let me know that i need to factory reset device upon firmware update for normal functioning, which i didn't do after update. so, I backed up my device, uninstalled many apps to make the device run a bit smooth and did a factory reset.. Resetting didn't improve the situation much, but now, the device display failed to light up on a regular basis on unlocking most of the time..
Now the situation is that, the device turns on, finger print scanner works, all apps n everything working, but display remains black, and touch screen is not responding.. using sidesync, everything on Tab can be accessed via laptop.
Tricks tried:
1) Factory reset
2) power+ vol up+vol down
3) power+ vol up+home key
4) power+ vol down + home key
5) Power off using sidesync and then restart
Results: All failure. Everything works but the display never lights up normally..
Plzz help....:crying::crying:
Bump. I'm starting to have similar problems with my SM-T800 running 5.0.2. I open the cover and the device fails to turn on. I press the power button and the screen stays black but the notification bar turns on. I can shake the crap out of the device and the screen stays black but I can see the notification bar flicker. Driving me batty.
If i had any problems like you guys, I would just return it to the place i bought it, for a refund or replacement or even a repair, post it to the service centre if it`s too far to travel too.
You problems sound like battery and or loose connector inside your tablet, it happens frequently on Samsung tablet for the connectors to come loose, if the tablet is dropped or twisted, no outside damage might be seen.
John.

Wow I done messed up....lol

I tried to root my tablet, did something horribly wrong, and now it's stuck on the Samsung Galaxy Tab s4 loading screen. I've tried pretty much every combination of buttons (including the ones that SHOULD work) to get into either download or recovery mode and it just keeps coming back to this same screen. The lock image is unlocked at the bottom, and it says 'custom' just underneath the image. At the top left it says in little yellow letters "Set Warranty Bit: Recovery." I can't even turn the thing off now. Any suggestions?
OK well I got it back up and running
I had to leave, came home about 4 hours later and it was still sitting there at the boot screen. I continued to fiddle with the button combinations, and discovered the one I guess I hadn't tried; holding down the power button and volume down at the same time. When the screen went black, while still pressing the aforementioned buttons, I now also quickly pressed volume up. This brought up the 'download' screen and I installed the stock rom and the tablet is now charging and sleeping peacefully. This S4 isn't nearly as easy to root as my old Tab S. I really wish there was an easier way to do this.
Unfortunately this will probably only get harder to do. I wish, as a last hurrah for us users, that the OEM's would release an easy tool to unlock the bootloader and root end of life devices...
Before that ever happens I'm suddenly going to start Sh*&ting gold bricks too....

[A3 2017][SOLVED] Stuck on "System restarting" loading screen

Hi everyone,
A few months ago, I changed the ROM of my Samsung Galaxy A3 2017 to Arrow OS.
Yesterday, I saw that WiFi seems bugged, I can't turn it on/off. This issue still being present today, I decided to restart my phone, hoping that it would solve it.
I then held start button to open restart options, and chose "System restart".
Since then, my screen is stuck on the "System restarting..." screen.
The phone still respond to physical buttons, but I can't try anything else as the touchscreen isn't responding, being blocked by this loading.
I tried to hold start button for +30 sec to force restart the phone, but it didn't work.
My last hope is to wait for the battery to run out, but I charged it all night, so I'll have to be patient ...
Do you have any other idea that might work ?
EDIT : I posted on the wrong forum, I intended to post on the Q&A one ... Is this possible to move my post, or do I have to repost it on the right forum ? (thanks Oswald)
OK my bad, I was trying to force reboot using the wrong buttons.
I forgot that on Samsung, we must use Vol. Down, Start and Home buttons.
