I buy my Note 4 in Craigslist from a sealer. He said it Verizon unlocked. Yesterday, i try to use a T-mobile sim start kit, it can not activation because my Verizon Note 4 is reported stolen. i feel very up set. I tried to set APN in many ways, but it always show in pics. Now, sim card is still inside the phone, but T-mobile not work. What should i do?
First of all, the golden rule of purchasing a new phone or used is... MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT BUY IT FROM A NON AUTHORIZED SELLER. When buying from Craigslist you purchase at your own risk.
Sell it to a dev to help the rooting progress my be your best way to recoop some of your money back
There are ways to check the device before you purchase it.

I have an ATT galaxy s3 and I really wish I would have waited and gotten the note 2 instead. My galaxy s3 is brand new and has absolutely nothing wrong with it at all and I want to find a way to trade to get the galaxy note 2. I was wondering, one, where could I find a good place to trade or anything to where I could get the note 2. Also, is all we do is just switch devices and put in our own sim cards and then everything will be all right? That is how I was thinking it woud work right?
I'm pretty sure att let's you return your phone within 30 days. Otherwise I would unlock it and sell it on eBay and use the cash to get a note

I did unlock my phone through the method that was recently released through the phones developer menu, but I only did that for resell value and I dont have any other sim cards to test if its truly unlocked and I wouldnt want to sell it under that little of info.
Just like I posted in the other thread you made, btw no more of these threads....
Hope you find a way to trade it but not here on XDA....

Upgrading from the international not n7000 and am psyched (just picked up for 380 on eBay). I currently have my note 1 on the 30 dollar 5gb of 4g plan. Can I switch imei and sim cards or do I need to start a whole other plan? Can I just cut the sim card I have to a mini and use it in my new note II? I plan on selling the note 1 and don't want to have the imei locked for the new buyer. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Just swap the sim to the note 2 and you're done. (cut if needed)
Thanks, but what about my original notes imei being on the account. If someone tried to activate it on t mobile would it be blocked? I'm thinking no, but wasn't sure if imeis mattered with the t mobile prepaids as far as having the same imei on multiple accounts. I have heard some people just put all 9s.

From what I read somewhere in the forum is that if you paid full price for the phone already then you can do whatever you want with it, including selling it to anyone you want.

Thanks for the replies. I checked with a t mobile rep who assured me that even with the prepaid that I just had to get them the new sim info and they would transfer everything over to the Note 2. I was worried I was going to have to wait for the other month to expire, re-port my number to a new 30 dollar account etc. Thank goodness that does not appear to be the case. They are shipping me a micro sim kit for .99. I'll update once, hopefully, all goes well!
Transfer of sim went without a hitch. Just called and gave sim card number and transfered to my new phone.

Work with T-mobile to get the phone back to the owner.

RegionLock Away has worked for a lot of people (including myself). Are you sure you can't get it unlocked using that? There's a thread that has a lot of troubleshooting tips somewhere in this section for Chainfire's app (things like using a non-T-mobile SIM, not allowing the app to reboot (i.e. rebooting manually and changing SIM card) and inputting the correct APN settings).
Edit: Here is the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2471742
I was able to unlock following the instructions in the first post, so if you haven't done that, you might want to try again.
Well the thing with region lock away is i want to use my phone through tmobile. My note 3 is a tmobile phone

I'm sorry to tell you this, but if it's blocked by T-Mobile, there's really nothing to be done. T-Mobile just won't budge (although I have read posts where people basically lied and got T-Mobile to unblock the device, but I am dubious about those claims). Your only options are to unlock to another carrier, or sell the device. If you sell it on Ebay to an international buyer, that would be the best way to recoup most of your money. Neither option is ideal, of course.
Yep, I almost got burned buying a s3 for my mom. Luckily we met at a tmobile store and verified the esn. Turns out it was reported lost/stolen. Chalk it up as a learning experience.

Like was said a couple of posts prior:
With a BLACKLISTED - N900T - you can:
1) Root, and Use Region Lock Away, it may possibly unlock the sim slot - so you can use an At&t based Sim Card. (Or, you may still need to get an unlock code from someone.)
2) Or - Sell for what its worth on Ebay.- Cut your losses, and find another Handset.
I have bought more than a few from people here locally (different models), seems Craigslist is running rampant (or rather the criminals) with those who are buying a phone, selling for cash on cl, and then reporting lost / stolen for an insurance claim. Then the buyer is stuck holding the bag, and has a tablet. (Or, bends and changes carriers possibly). Its sad but the only true way to be sure the device will be able to be used, is to go with the seller to (Tmo, Vzw, Att etc.) and get the rep to note the account. I have tried to do so via the 800 number, and had mixed results.
Good luck.
Be well.
I have a galaxy note 4 i got through verizon then had some unfortunate events lead to being unemployed for a while which led to me defaulting on my verizon contract and later picking up a cheap amazon fire phone and signed up for ting. which works fine but i have this note 4 here which i tried to give back to verizon but they wouldnt take it so now ill spend awhile paying for it and i cant currently use it so i was wondering if there was a way to use it through ting, or at the very least unlock it to sell so i can rocoupe some of what i gotta pay verizon for it, any help is really appreciated.
The Verizon phone is already unlocked. Did you default on the account? If so it may have been blacklisted.
You will get GSM on ting. It is probably missing most of the LTE bands. You can just put your sim into it and see what works. You will need an adapter. The fire phone is nano and the Note is a micro sim.

thanks for the reply, if it has been blacklisted does that mean nothing can be done with it? should i try to get a ting sim for it?. i went into the settings to add a mobile netowrk and verizon is the only one it shows and the + sign is greyed out. is that because there is only a verizon sim in it or because its blacklisted?
When a phone is blacklisted, the EMI number will not allow the phone to activate with any chip. The way it was explained to me they do the same thing for stolen phones, so I don't think it can ever be revived again.

Hey guys. Verizon has totally messed up my bill now I am without service cause they didn't fix what was needed to be fixed from their part on my bill so it has gotten to high to pay. I'm stuck trying to figure out what to do. I don't want to sell this note 4 but it looks like I'm without an option. I do want to go to straight talk but I can't bring this phone over to it unless it's unlocked and they won't give me the code cause of my bill. What are my options here. Any help is appreciated.

Cant really help w/ situation without more info.
You could always just buy a cheap unlocked phone online or get a prepaid one.
The note 4 already has an unlocked sim card slot.
