Hello, if your bootloader status is Bootloader unlock allowed: NO, then you can't (for now) unlock it at all (No solution available to date)...hence, you can't install a custom ROM like Cyanogenmod because it contains a custom kernel, and a custom kernel needs an unlocked bootloader.
Everything is possible, a developer on Xperia SP made a CM12 (latest Cyanogenmod ROM) rom for LOCKED bootloader, but unfortunately it's not yet available for our Xperia M.

there is a cwm recovery for locked bootloaders but you can only flash stock based roms (theres 2 stock based) i don't think they are for dual sim tho

[Q] Q : about custom roms and ICS

Hello Guys
I saw this custom rom ..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1599906
so my question is if I installed this ICS custom rom
and I didn't like it can I back to the original firmware via flashtool ?
and does this custom room needs unlocked bootloader .
Thanks
If its an ICS you will need a kernel, so you will need an unlocked boot loader to flash the kernel, every time you see this rom requires this kernel, you will need an unlocked bootloader

[Q] Xperia S Unable to Install any Custom Rom

Hey Guys,
New of the forum here. For the past few days, I have been trying to install a custom rom on my Xperia S which I bought in Hong Kong about 2 years ago. I also had it updated to JB .96 version.
I read the forums as much as I could and firstly tried to root the phone. I couldn't determine if I had a locked or unlocked bootloader. I used this rooting guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2417672
by doomlord
and then I moved on to installing a recovery which was also following doomlords guide :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2308493&highlight=adb+server
After having done this, I wanted to install PureSlim KitKat on my Xperia S which I found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2606528&highlight=flash
But once I got into the recovery of CWM and selected to install the zip file, after installation it says that it will reboot device but it doesn't. I tried to manually start the phone but it couldn't start up. I can only get it to go into flashmode and thus I ended up flashing a ftf which I found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2422053
Afterwards, I am back to square one and I repeated the steps to reroot the device and then I installed recovery again and then tried another rom, this time I tried LeopardRom which also resulted in the same problem of not booting.
I also use Galaxy S2 and have custom rom on that but I didn't expect it to be that much different for xperia S. I am willing to follow steps to resolve the issue here.

you cant install that rom because is for unlocked bootloader and you have locked bootloader, you need unlock the bootloader and install a kitkat kernel. When you finish this you can install this rom
Not all of the bootloaders can be unlock. My bootloader can't be unlock so I use a rom that doesn't need unlocked bootloader. The rom is existenz v1.35
Sent from my LT26i using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

[Q] About unlock the bootloader.

hi guys .I have a V500,and I had flashed the TWRP on my device. And then I flashed a custom rom such as cm11. But ,in my opinion ,many phones flash roms must unlock the bootloader first . and then flash the recovery etc. But why our v500 don't have to unlcok the bootloader ?
Does LG provide the offical bootloader unlock service? Thanks.

Lg make their devices with locked bootloaders in contrary to asus nexus for example who allow you very easily to unlock the bootloader. Developers use a hack named loki to bypass the bootloader and allow us to flash custom roms and recoveries. Thats why you see a message if you re on a custom rom everytime you open your tablet, it means that loki is working fine at that moment. If we had unlocked bootloaders we wouldnt see that message as there would be no need for loki.

[Q] [Newbie]Troubles reading ftf files

Hi,
I'm new to rooting and flashing custom ROMs, so any help will be greatly appreciated
I'm using an orange xperia lt15i, that I've decided to root and on which I want to run CyanogenMod 9.1
Here's what I've come up with :
flashing a generic ftf to debrand my phone, in orded to unlock the bootloader
install recovery
unlock boot loader
flash CM
The catch is, flashtool (0.9.16.1) can't read any of the ftf files I put in the firmware directory..any idea ?
Did I get the steps in the right order, is there any way to achieve this at all ?
Thanks

maybe file is wrong download here a new one. this works 100% LINK
also use normal flashtool not 64bit.
install drives from flastool install dir/drivers for your phone
install android sdk (just leave all like it is & press install)
now to the process:
flashing a generic ftf to debrand my phone, in orded to unlock the bootloader i dont think this is need. on sony bl unlock site theres mentioned how to get in service menu & look if bootloader unlock allowed: yes or no. if yes just proceed. any way, CM requires flashng stock ics ftf b4 so do it after unlock...
install recovery no need if you flash CM's kernel later it was recovery built in (all custom)
unlock boot loader
flash cm kernel via fastboot
flash CM dont forget gapps! (google apps)

i did flash a cwm recovery for my device using flashify. But it just simply reboots it doesn't go to recovery mod. & please do something.
On Stock 4.1 i heared about a CWM for locked bl, but never tried it. But on 4.3 it isnt working. Look for the thread in general section.
But a "normal" CWM on locked bl isnt possible, as the bootloader only loads a kernel from Sony, and to boot into cwm on our device we need to detect an event to extract the cwm ramdisk instead of the nornal ramdisk, which is only possible with a modified kernel, which requires an unlocked bl to get loaded.
