[Q] Broken recovery HTC M8 (Devil's Loop) - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hei guys I managed to **** up my HTC M8 pretty bad (I think..)
I had a rooted M8 with 4.4.4 so 5.0.2 came out a few days ago and I tried to update my phone today. To do so I wanted to unroot my phone so I did the following things:
1. I did a factory reset using the option in Clockworkmod
2. I flashed the stock recovery to my phone
3. I (re)locked my bootloader
The problem is something seems to be wrong with the flashed recovery, Factory Resetting or booting into recovery just restarts the phone and the OTA also just reboots the phone. Unlocking the bootloader and CHECK SMARTSD also won't work anymore..
I really don't know what to do now/where to ask for help..
Here is some information I can provide:
Bootloader looks like this:
*** Software status: Modified ***
*** Relocked ***

Hope you can help me, thanks for reading.

Unrooting and relocking the bootloader was a useless move. OTA accepts rooted phones and with bootloader unlocked. OTA needs a stock recovery and a clean system.
What you can do is flash via adb TWRP and restore a working backup of your firmware.
P.S. Delete your IMEI and SERIAL NUMBER from your post.

First of all, get rid of your serialno as well as your imei.
Second of all, what!?!
Exactly what is your problem?
I will help/guide you.
But what you posted doesn't really tell the problem you are having.
The getjar is so unnecessary.
NOOBS PAY ATTENTION TO THAT LAST LINE
Just post your issue, and if the person helping you needs more info; AND ASKS FOR A GETJAR, that's when you post it.
So........
Exactly what is your issue?
I got the phone in htc logo mode. When I went recovery mode it was in to some custom recovery. I then check the info of phone using fastboot. What got in fastboot is posted above. According to fastboot info the phone had main version as 2.22.771.5 so I download the ota version and renamed it to OP6BIMG and put it in sd card. And tried to flash the phone using sd card. But all I get is no image or wrong image . Please help this out for me. Thank you for your feed your reply

You can't manually install OTA.zip when your device is S-On.
You need stock recovery installed then let the system download and install the OTA.
I have all the files needed for your device here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55322461&postcount=1895

Need help getting Developer Edition back to stock

My office recently purchased a used HTC One M8 Developer Edition device for testing purposes. I was under the impression that it was stock, but I was wrong. It had TWRP installed. The system alerted me that there's a system update, but when I try to install it, it just boots into TWRP. I managed to flash the stock recovery back to it, but when I try to apply the update, it just boots to the fastboot screen, and does nothing.

You could just flash the developer RUU. Either Lock the bootloader and flash it via a PC (with htc sync installed) or put it on an sdcard and see and flash it from that.
Reading the Instructions helps. (PC Install)
http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-m8/news/
Latest RUU on their website is newer then the one you have flashed.
Thanks @Tachi91! I appreciate the nudge in the right direction!

I want to go completely back to stock, or at least to the point I can install the OTA or something else for my phone. I have a stock recovery, S-ON, locked bootloader, but I am rooted and I can't figure out how to get back to where I can take the update.
I tried relocking the bootloader and flashing a zip file, it returned error 12.
I really need some guidance with this one. Any help is appreciated, thank you.
Flash the RUU for you model from the thread below. Since you are S-ON and you relocked the bootloader the RUU should flash just fine. FYI, this will wipe your internal storage, so be sure to back it up.

Sensor_hub ... Damaged ... Any solution ?

Hi guys, i screwed up .... Was trying to go back to STOCK version and i think i screwed up the sensors --> Auto-Rotate doesn't work, Flashlight too, take 2 seconds to show the screen if it was off --> (by clicking the power button), double tap doesn't work too.
So i tried to go to stock, erase everything etc .... Nothing is working. Any help ? Please ...
Hello,

Excellent, you're on the international version. However, your post includes some private information (unique identifiers) that -for your privacy and safety - shouldn't be posted. Please, either delete your post, or edit it to remove the serial number and imei.
Many people have complaints about the latest update to marshmallow, with similar system problems. For example, sensors not working properly, camera malfunction, screen malfunction, inaccessible internal & external memories, and or, sudden death
My proposed solution is simple: RE-flash your firmware & rom from stock source, then hardreset your phone to factory condition.
Cheers.

Following is a link to HTC's official stock RUU, and instructions to flash it. This will install your phone's current firmware/software from scratch.
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24369303960687057
To flash the RUU zip file:
A. You need to put it at the root of your SD CARD and rename it to 0P6BIMG.zip (first character is a zero, and careful not to rename it to 0P6BIMG.zip.zip)
B. Turn your phone off, then start it into bootloader. It will recognize the 0P6BIMG.zip file and give you instructions in RED for proceeding forward.
C. Follow the instructions in RED to flash. You will lose all data as the RUU will format all partitions.
Cheers
shirreer posted the best way to flash it, so I'm just gonna add here, I bought a GSM M8, originally an Australian variant (0P6B11000) and I S-OFF'd it and converted it to the Intl version with 6.12.401.4 and it's very stable, everything works fine, including double tap, flashlight, auto rotate and all other features. Only thing that sucks is the extremely horrible battery life, which was somewhat fixed with a re-calibration, but it still drains.
Ok i am gonna trying it AGAIN actually. Already done your solution. Last time i have done this, it was bypassing the sensor_hub, which is super weird. But i'll let you know. Downloading it right now, and going to flash it soon.
Edit After Flashing :
Sensor_hub; TP (2); SBL1 (3) are bypassed....
So yea... still same situation i flashed it as you said and explained. Sensor hub is bypassed. I hard reset as you said. Nothing changed... So basically .... i am screwed ....
No one has an answer for me ?..... Come on guys .... there must be something .... FYI bluetooth not working i think.

What i have tried doing so far was to try unlock the bootloader and also tried using one of the RUU files. The bootloader failed (on the terminal it completed everything and the phone rebooted to the phase where it asks for confirmation. After the confirmation, it reboots back to the same white ***Locked*** screen. Im assuming the Locked means the bootloader is still locked.) The RUU exe fails due to Error 171( no idea what it means). I just tried
*Edit: So i tried following what was said in this thread. When i put the sd card in, the phone displays CID incorrect, Update fail. I am unsure why it says this as i picked an RUU that had the same radio number as the phone. (0PKVIM[email protected]60201_20.05_018_F_release_479349_combined_signed is the one i tried using)
Any ideas what steps to take? Thanks in advance
Error 171 is a connection error, meaning the RUU can't connect to/find your phone.
Edit: after your SD method, what was the error code?
