[Q] Note 10.1 Won't power off - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. I can't figure why my tablet won't power off. Everything seems to run fine.
When I press the power button, then press (select) power off the tablet goes thru the motions of shutting off.
It actually shuts off for a second, screen goes black and off. Then it restarts. I get the logo etc. Then back fully on.
I would like to turn it off other than just go in eventual sleep mode. This tablet was never modified in any way. It has a stock ROM never been rooted. I also looked at the running apps and everything seems normal. Any idea would be welcomed other than Hard reboot.
Thanks for the help.

Is the tablet plugged in? Otherwise hard reboot is your only option.

Even if it's plugged or not same weird thing happens. As if I restart the tablet when I in fact power off.

[Q] Someone help me please!!!!

Ok so I had installed a home replacement called qq launcher version 1.21 and uninstalled around 10 min after. While it was uninstalling, the loading bar kept going and the phone froze up. So i took out my battery and proceeded to turn it on again. Now when my phone turns on, after booting up it goes to my pattern lock screen with a completely black wallpaper and my phone freezes. When I press the power button, the screen goes black and stays like that. The only time it switches is when i plug in my charger and when i do that, it goes back to to the same lock screen and stays frozen unless i press the power button (which turns my screen black again.) Im running gingerbread 2.3.4 and im not rooted. My phones also disconnected so i only use it on wifi. I would really REALLY appreciate it if someone can help me get my G2 back to normal, i depend on it greatly whenever im on a wifi network.
With the phone off, hold volume down, press and release power. This should pull up the bootloader screen. You should have the option to do a factory reset from here. Try it.

Hitting the power button on my phone makes it go crazy

Has anyone else experienced this? If I hit the power button on my phone, the screen goes crazy and it eventually goes off. It starts to turn back on but then during the boot animation it just cuts off again. If i boot into recovery, it cuts out there too. I was trying to wipe my phone but it wont stay on long enough. I'm running the new cm 10 stable.
Saw this in another thread and they came up with a faulty power button. Either it's getting stuck or the actual connection is effed. Does it stick a little when pressed as in is it not fully popping back up? Because if it's happening in recovery too than that seems to be the case I would think. Have you had your device for a while now or is it newer?
Yep, sounds like a sticking button. The phone is hard wired to reboot when the power button is held for a number of seconds, no matter what is going on (it's equal to a battery pull), so if the button is stuck, you're in a loop.

S 3 Start-Up Problem

Hello,
I am having an issue with my S 3. It is not booting up as it should. The model is SGH-1747M.
I have tried the following and have had the following results:
1) The phone is non-responsive when attempting to power it on with the power button.
2) If I remove the battery, with the phone not plugged in, and then put the battery back in, the phone begins to power on by itself. It vibrates once and then loads to the Samsung screen and then goes off.
3) If I plug the phone in without the battery, the phone vibrates once and the red charging light comes on but then goes off after a couple seconds.
4) If I plug the phone in without the battery, and then insert the battery as soon as the red light comes on, the charging screen comes on but then the phone goes off after a couple seconds.
5) If I put the battery in with the phone unplugged and hold Volume Down, Power and the Home Button, the phone boots to the screen where you can push up on volume to flash new firmware. If I stay on this screen without pressing anything, the phone turns off after a couple seconds. If I push up on the power button, it goes to the screen with the green android man but then turns off after a couple seconds.
6) If I put the battery in with the phone unplugged and hole Volume Up, Power and Home and then release them on the Samsung screen, blue writing pops up in the top left corner (I couldn’t read quick enough what it says) while still on the Samsung screen and then it loads to a screen saying Samsung Galaxy S III and then the phone turns off.
These problems started when I attempted to connect my phone to my laptop to transfer songs over to it. I connected the phone and the battery was charging, but it wasn’t showing up as connected on my laptop. So, I turned the phone off to restart it but when I went to turn it back on, these issues started.
The phone was rooted and has been for the last 7 months without any changes to the firmware or updates to the firmware in that time period and has not encountered any problems prior. I’m not sure what firmware the phone was on prior to this.
If anyone could offer any assistance with this it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
Hi,
I'm no expert, but it looks like a faulty/stuck power button. It's normal for the phone not to completely boot up when it is powered off and then plugged in to USB. But it is not normal for the phone to reboot itself when in recovery or in Android. That's why I think the power switch might be the cause.

[Q] Sumsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 (SM-T805) screen went black

My tablet Galaxy Tab S 10.5 (SM-T805) screen went black. I can’t see the screen.
Touch also does not seem to work. However it’s on. it is receiving calls and other messages. It is connected to WiFi.
Power button, volume button are working but I can’t power off the device cause I can’t see the screen options.
When I plug in to the charging cable it vibrates but does not show anything on screen.
It didn’t drop and hit by anything…i have been using it for 3 months now. it just happened by itself or may be by some update that I don’t know.
Please help how to bring it back to life
Are you able to get into download or recovery? I've never heard of something like this before. Maybe go ahead and let it die and then plug it back in and see if you can get into download mode by holding home+power+volume down then re flash your stock firmware or whatever you were using. Or do home+power+volume up to get into recovery. If you still have stock recovery then you can just do a factory reset right from that but if your using something TWRP then your still going to need to flash something after wiping your data.
Not sure how else you can get it to shut off since you can't see it. Even knowing where the power menu is once you press the button it would still be tough to hit the right thing. I'd say let it die. Maybe someone else can come shed some light. Of course it could be a hardware problem as well. I'm leaning toward software still though.
If your still completely stock I'd say let it die and get into stock recovery. Home+power+volume up and then wipe data and do a factory reset. Now if the screen stays black after its off and you've plugged in the charging cable then I'd imagine there's a more a serious problem going on.
Yes I am waiting for battery to be completely drained out. I will try your method once the battery is completely dead.
thanks
Your welcome let me know how it goes. Will do my best to help.
I don't have my tab with me right now but can't you hold power button for 10 sec to force a reboot? All Android device I ever had could do that.

Doest work on t805 holding powerbutton, just hold the buttons for download mode and that will force it to reset and prompt you to press volume down to cancel volume up to continue...hold for 30 seconds, and if nothing appears let go and just press volume up once, still no joy then pop back cover off and unclip and reclip battery if your brave, thats what i did before i new about this quicker way.
How to run the battery completely down..? its still active and on... though not showing anything on screen.
Is there any quicker way... ?
To do a hard-reset on these Samsung devices, you need to hold Power + Home + Volume Down until it reboots. On every other device it's just Power. Some it's Power+Home. For some reason Samsung likes to be different.
Or if you have previously enabled USB Debugging, you can plug it in to your computer and do an ADB Reboot.
Power + volume down + volume up works for me as reset.

G3 VS985 difficult to turn on, recovery mode buttons don't work

My VS985 has 2 problems, which may be related to each other. The first is that, when the phone is fully turned off, turning it back on again is difficult. When I press the power button, the phone just vibrates at me and then refuses to turn on. Screen doesn't light up or anything. Pressing the power button again does nothing at that point. What I have to do, sometimes up to 7-8 times before it turns on, is remove the battery, wait a few seconds, put it back in, then press the power button again. It'll vibrate every time, and eventually one of those times it will turn on and boot up.
The second issue is that I've found it impossible to get into recovery mode using the buttons. I can get in just fine using the quick boot app, but that's not much use if I ever end up in a state where I can't boot into the OS. Apparently it's supposed to work by turning the phone off, then pressing and holding the power + volume down buttons and waiting for the LG logo to show up. I've tried this many times, it never works, possibly because of the first problem.
I bought this phone used, immediately used ODIN to downgrade it to the original stock OS, then towel rooted it and installed CM (LOS 14.1 now), so I've no idea if this phone has always had this problem or if I caused it. It's not a big deal since I always keep my phone on but makes trying new ROMs scary. Has anyone heard of this before, or have any idea how to fix it?
