Yes, you can tether with the stock app if you have the Mobile Share plan. No need for apps like foxfi.

Do you mean tetheren?
There is no wireless tether for non-root users. All you can get is EasyTether, which is wired.
+1 but its still a great app

Sprint Hotspot?

Just curious... Once rooted, will the Sprint Hotspot app work or do you still need to pay Sprint $30/mo for it to work even though you are rooted?

Thanks for your response!
BTW, does anyone know what is the filename for the Sprint Hotspot app? I looked in /system/app and /data/app and I couldn't spot it so I can remove it.

I guess with the above, we can use the Sprint Hotspot instead of having to use the Free Wifi Tethering for Android app?
That is correct.

IcS wifi hotspot

Was trying to set up a wifi hotspot but I can not get it to start.I keep getting not supported by Sim.Did AT&T block it in the ROM? I used to use it with the stock Rogers ROM all the time. Can anyone else try and see if it works for them.

I used to love that feature to be able to share the WIFI to friends with no Data and to connect to my Tablet! Guess will have to look for an app that can do it instead. Anyone know of any off hand?

I am with Rogers and this used to work. I have 6GB and like to share with others. Unfortunately this AT&T Rom has other ideas. FOXFI seems nice will have to test it with a friend tomorrow but seems to work just have not connected anyone yet. Thanx again for the info.

You don't search or read that's what!!
I'm talking about native wifi tether. I'll work on getting it unlocked if no one else ha done it so far. I'm not talking about using Foxfi or any other third party crap. I have not found a thread or room in the att section with native wifi tether unlocked.
Why don't you be useless and tell me to search again....

I thought foxfi don't work right now unless somebody modified from xda or they came up with ics fix ???
I want to root and enable native tether or not root and use foxfi
I don't want to use custom rom since I may break my device

He doesn't know that foxfi unlocks the native tethering but has its own GUI it uses for settings and sets its own name as the hotspot. Or for everybody's info that's how it works lol.

ROM's don't break devices...People break devices.
I've never had a rom ruin my device but I have seen where people have bricked their device because they didn't know what they were doing . I have even heard of people flashing roms for different phones on to their own... Ya, it does get comical around here. lol

correct rom don't break your device but people do. but changing rom makes you break device if something goes wrong. i had captivate and i used to load rom easily without issue using clockwordmod recovery. one day i loaded cyangenmod rom and try to load other rom after that and my device never boot up and keep rebooting . cyangenmod changed my boot logo from samsung to cyangenmod and i cant even goto change my device out under warranty.
Foxfi does work now with 1.95 version i guess fix is out and as long as it unlocks native tethering in background then i dont need anything now. i m happy.:laugh:
That sounds like a simple boot-loop, if the phone appears to be continually rebooting and not loading the OS. Maybe not bricked at all...
What happened when you restored your backup?

Hotspot w/ Pixel 2 XL

I just picked up a used Pixel 2 XL (on 9.0) from Swappa. I have one of the old VZW unlimited plans from 2009 and use my Z2Play to tether while on the road. I just tried to do it with my Pixel 2 XL and it told me to contact Verizon.
Is there a workaround or do I need to root/install a custom ROM?
Thanks.
