Hi all,
I've got a bit of a problem with my S. When I make or receive a call I can't hear anything in the speaker, I have to switch to loudspeaker to have a conversation. The phone runs 4.0.4. I had this problem for a while but it always resolved itself after some time. I recently rooted the phone and deleted a few sys apps but nothing I wasn't sure about (everything regarding timescape, twitter, SoundLevelAlert and SemcUnplugChargerReminder, at least that's all I remember). Now, apart from the internal speaker problem, I also lost sound while playing any media, only working with headphones plugged in ;/
Any ideas whether it can be a software issue? Or do I need to contact the service asap?...
Sound like hardware problem. If I were you I will contact Sony service.

If you have installed a bad version of the sound mod (half of the versions before ACID came up), it could be causing this. Try doing a factory reset or reinstaling your ROM.
reset didn't work, done it a couple of days ago. i'll try reinstalling when I find some time...
Did you have headphones plugged in before this happened?

I' m using 4.0.4 XS and I have same problem too, it's impossible to hear anything in a noisy area and it happens only when I'm moving (walking, in a car ...)
I think it' s a software problem because when I'm standing, speaker works normally.
Or maybe antenna issue?
Any ideas?
Sorry for my english

yeah... what happens now then? ;]
I just flashed the phone with seus - still sh*t ;/
Keep plugging headphones in and out. Sometimes it sticks thinking they're still plugged in

that was probably the most stupid problem I ever had with an android phone!!!
I realized it's the headphones when I saw that the headphone profile in livewire is on although no cable was connected. dunno if removing the profile or plugging in and out helped but the main thing is - IT WORKS!!! thanks
Lol its happened to me before, took me ages to figure it out!

Wow, this worked on my Xperia L!
It occurred to me that today my music kept on playing while I had my headphones plugged out, but there wasn't any sound, so I thought nothing of it and paused the music app. In the evening I wanted to use the external speaker but it didn't work. Then I stumbled upon this thread et voila, fixed, thanks!
Bang your phone
I also faced this issue. My phone fell down yesterday and then the speaker stopped working. I thought it was a software problem and resetted my phone. It still did not work. Then I banged the phone on my palm a few times and it stopped working. It's like "Laato ke bhut baato se nahi maante". Disappointed with the quality of the piece though.
Goodnight everyone ...
I'm having a problem with the sound of my Xperia S.
When I was using the openSEMC-U, my phone began to take issue with the earphone and speaker.
If I was with the headset plugged in and wanted to use the earphone without, I had to restart the phone because it does not recognize that I took the earphone.
And if I had no earphone and wanted to use it I had to reboot the phone for him to recognize the earphone.
But then I changed my ROM (tested based on various stock sony) worsened the problem, since now even restarting the phone fails to recognize the earphone. The cell is like I'm always with the earphone plugged.
Any idea how to force the exchange (internal sound - phone)??
Sorry for my bad english.
Thanks!
I have the latest cm11 nightly installed on my Sony Xperia z1 Compact.
When I listen to music on my headphones something strange happens. The music starts playing, but stops by itself if I move the phone or the headphone cable. If I restart the music it will play through the internal speakers and I will have to reconnect the headphones to get them working again.
This happens in both wimp, spotify, and Apollo. It does not occur if the phone is stationary. I can also move the phone around as long as the headphone cable "does not move around on its own, but follows the phone". I did not have this problem on Sony's stock ROM. I've tried with different headphones, and w/without an online Mic on the headphone cable.
Has anyone experienced something like this, and are there any solutions except reverting to stock ROM?

I update my T2 to android 5.0 yesterday, the progress was unevenful, but the problem came. There is no sound from speaker when I play music or video and so on ,but useing headphone is ok and I'm sure the speaker is ok ,because can hear the alarm and ring from there. And I can't make calls except when I change to "audio output"and I can hear sound from speaker.I try to reset the phone to factory set,but the problem still there.Could you tell me what's going on and what can I do?
I had the same problem with an older sony phone . It was a software problem where audio was not sent to the speakers during phone calls. No amounts of resets would fix it. Finally I installed a program called "Soundabout Pro" which allows you to direct audio wherever you want it, speakers, headphones, bluetooth etc. It solved my problem.
