My phone is a LG Optimus G (a F180 converted to E975, stock Euro firmware), but from googling this issue it seems to be a problem that can strike any phone with no readily apparent solution...
I first noticed it while playing Star Wars KOTOR, where it'd get stuck; flipping the phone (to better orient the charging lead) started leaving the picture upside down. Initially, I could fix it by long-pressing the home button to get at my notification bar and toggling auto-rotate off and on, before it crapped out entirely (necessitating an orientation-locking app), which led me to think it was a software issue...
But after googling the problem and seeing how widespread it is, I'm thinking maybe these sensors are just prone to failing? I saw all sorts of possible solutions offered, which apparently work for some, but it seems nothing solves it for many, including factory resets and flashing firmware... I uninstalled KOTOR when I was done with it, but to no avail. I don't fancy figuring out how to flash the firmware again, but if that's what it takes...
Does anyone know anything about this issue? Am I stuck with a slightly crippled phone now?

Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA assist. Please standby while we have your thread/question moved to the appropriate sub-forum for your device.
For future reference you can find your device sub-forum here (bookmark/subscribe this):
LG Optimus G
Within that section you will find a dedicated q&a sub-forum (this is where your thread is going to be moved to):
Optimus G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Good luck!

Hi, I know there's a sub-forum for my particular phone, but the reason I posted here is that it seems to be an issue with the sensor chip that's common to many phones.
And I haven't seen much evidence of any solid knowledge about the issue, so I wanted to avoid restricting possible responses to a tiny subset of experts.
This place appears to be lacking some sort of 'umbrella' forum for issues that affect more than one model of phone... I thought maybe this could be it.
XDA Assist isn't a general technical support area, our purpose is to point people who don't know where to post in the right direction. You might have luck posting in one of the more general sub-forums (they do exist)

Yep, I don't see any issues with that at all. Good luck [emoji1]

Perhaps check the N4 threads. There was sensor issues with early gee roms, but seeing as you are already on a stock i cannot think another way to help.
I had to send in my Phone after the sensors stopped working. It seemed to be a hardware fault. They only worked if the phone temperature was under 10Celsius.I would restore the original Firmware and send it to LG.
Hope I helped you
Try restoring to stock firmware, or flash stock CM12..?
Sent from my SM-G850S using XDA Free mobile app
Stock Firmware
You need to flash the original F180 Firmware and send it to LG afterwards

This is the place for all discussions by non developers relating to the various builds and tweaks of Oxygen ROM for the HTC desire. XDA rules state that you must be developing a Rom or tweak to post in development forums- we do hope for them to visit and help out though .
Feel free to post experiences, thankyou's, bugs, feature requests, and questions etc... I am by no means an expert, so please just post to the general community, hopefully someone will come up with a meaningful reply. No response from Adam G or any developers is implied. Please use the bug/ feature request tracker to be officially heard.
Please search before making questions so members are not repeating questions and answers. And please be nice... even if someone does post a repeat question, or doesn't 'get' something, etc.....

On a serious note, if you're posting in the ROM thread and your post relates to the ROM and its issues then there's no issues posting in the ROM thread
There were complaints in this specific ROM thread about people posting non dev. questions, so Senior Mod, pulser_g2, suggested that a thread in General wouldn't do any harm for people to discuss the rom etc. I've had to clean them up.
Personally I think this is a good idea, and if it was adopted by more developers we could keep the actual rom thread clean and tidy. The cam port thread is a good example of a clean dev thread, although the fact I'm cleaning it every day is a bit of a problem!
Ideally we would like to keep the rom threads for posting the rom, discussing technical aspects of the rom, and posting bug reports etc.
@ the OP. It might be a good idea for you to post in the actual rom development thread and point everyone here so they can start posting on this thread.
@ everyone who has decided to "reserve" posts. Stop it! The OP reserving a space is fine, but c'mon now people stop taking the you know what!
It was just in jest, fair enough about the actual thread being clogged up. I still stand that if it refers to an issue with the ROM of its features it should go in the ROM thread but banter should go in here!!
To be honest I think it was the sheer amount of questions that aren't actually rom related, and the number of times the same question is asked over and over and over and over.... I'm sure you get the picture!
The Leedroid rom thread is another example of why a thread here in General might be a good idea. I spent an hour one night and deleted over 150 posts in the last 20 pages.
Anyway we shall see how this goes and take it from there. I'm guessing it will be trying to fight a losing battle. Hey ho
The other option is to create a ROM Discussion sub-forum for each ROM to have a thread...

I Vote this. Keep a 'General Discussion' thread for each ROM in their own Forum to keep things clean.
Despite the fact I hate them, a chat room dedicated to each ROM (Bandwidth Permitting) might be an idea. Usually once someone has voiced their opinion/Question they soon Dissipate. Could same some useless posts clogging up a Thread

as the rom in question was in beta, and you were testing it so to speak you had every right to be contributing to the thread.
Also, brilliant idea to have a separate thread containing the less irrelevant things, would possibly be even more brilliant if Adamg added a link and little explanation in his oxygen OP of what this is and why it's here.
Deleted- background discussions and resolutions are in process....
Alright, I am going to kick this thread off with its first potential issue. I have noticed it about 4 timesthat, over the last 5 days, suddenly my WiFi has switched off and I realised I an surfing on my 3g data connection. I just have to re-enable WiFi and it is back again, but this can cost me a lot of data depending on what I am doing. I have juice defender on, but not touching WiFi, and I use Y5 battery saver to switch WiFi on and off when in and out of range. I have not had this issue for months with any other Rom. I have reinstalled y5 and it still happens. Has anyone else got this issue or any ideas. I am on oxygen beta 0. 1. 3.
Cheers.

I have not experienced this problem on any version of this ROM (had on other ROMS) and no such problems on beta beta v0.2.
i am trying some more searches but can't find anything that seems relevant.... i have had it ages ago, flashed another rom and forgot about it. the channel is still on 13- sometimes that resets to 11- (i have had that a few times with different roms), so it's not that btw.

Maybe try uninstalling the Y5 app and then see if you have the same issues, also I am sure I read something (and I may be mistaken) that it's not a good idea having your wifi router on channel 13.........
I had it more without y5, it switches to 3g regularly then, always has- nor all the time, just quite often without on a few different roms. Maybe it us because I have two networks in my house... its complicated, I need it.
I am in Australia we have 13 channels on our wifi here, I need it on auto.
The nofullsleep fix gave me wifi error so I got rid if it.
I woke up this morning and it was on 3g, it had reset my regulatory domain back to 11. I have reinstalled y5. I tried to post on the bug tracker, but chrome and opera on my phone both timed out when trying to submit. Will try from my home pc when I get the chance.
Everything else is silky smooth, most stable rom ever by far.
It seems to be getting a mess in the dev. section lately.
Put your idea on this thread and we'll look into it.
1. create sticky for official (samsung) firmware as easy downloads
2. create sticky for some basic guides
3. create sticky with pointers to roms for the in-house cooks (rotohammer etc.)
this is a start.
MOD EDIT: BEFORE POSTING ANY THREAD IN THE DEVELOPMENT SECTION, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING:
If you have developed a ROM, or are working with others to do so, the development forum is somewhere to discuss and share ideas, post useful feedback and logs or crash dumps, and to discuss a common goal developers are trying to achieve.
It is NOT the place to post your question because it gets higher traffic, or because more experienced users frequent it. Doing this just annoys those who are working on the device, and drives them away. Developers don't want to wade through 20 threads of "Help me urgently" to find their threads for porting and fixing camera issues etc. Similarly, if a thread is designated as discussion for developers say, porting a camera fix, please do not post in there asking "When will it be ready?", "Can I flash this yet?" etc. This is both completely disrespectful to those working on the project (you evidently haven't read the important posts in the thread), and also is making it harder for developers to find comments from other developers or testers when required.
Similarly, don't make loads of "Thanks for your work here" posts in an active development thread. It's just as annoying to developers as asking when something will be ready. If a ROM is complete, then go ahead and thank the developer if you wish, but don't go into threads for devs only, and interrupt it to post "thanks". It's basically spamming, and is treated as such.
If you are posting in development, you should have read every sticky and notice there, and should be actively developing or helping in the development of something. Developing isn't installing a ROM, or using a tweak, it's creating a ROM or other hack or tweak. If you haven't read for several days before starting out on XDA, you are likely about to ask something already solved. I registered on XDA when I first wanted to post, and that was to join in a discussion on something. Sure, join up and ask a question, but read the information available in General and Q&A first, as your question will have been asked before. Search is your friend here, become familiar with it.
Regarding when to post in development if you are not actually developing something, there is one occasion where it's acceptable. If you find a leak of a new ROM, which isn't already posted, and you verify it's legitimacy via either running it, or based on the source you obtained it from, then this is assisting in development, and should be posted in development. If you want to ask when a leak will be available use search first, then if not already in discussion, open a thread in general or Q&A.
If you have a problem flashing a ROM, this is NOT related to development. It's up to you to determine if it is specific to a particular ROM, and post useful information in that developer's existing thread for the ROM. If it happens on more than one ROM, and isn't a known issue (remember you should read several times more words than you post), then find out what you are doing wrong. Check guides written by others, try to repeat the problem and see if it happens every time. Something needs to be reproducible to be fixed effectively.
Once you have identified what you need help with go to the device Q&A forum (general if device lacks one), and make a clear, informative thread that explains the issue, and what you have tried doing to fix it. Did you re-download the ROM? Did you ask a friend to flash it for you, to reduce chance of user error? What steps (exactly) did you follow? What errors did you see (exact wording)? Did you double check all the steps? Did you do a wipe or hard reset?
If you make a clear, concise, yet detailed post, you will find help forthcoming, and should get the problem sorted very quickly. If someone suggests you try something, report back on what happened, did it work etc. Then, next time someone has this issue and searches, they will find this and have a verified and tested solution.
So remember... before you start a thread in development, ask yourself what you are developing. If you can't answer, then stop, step away from the post button, and think about where you are posting. Would it be better in General or Q&A, or is some more time with your best friend, search, required?

We really need to have them separated... This is getting bad. Take a vote and and promise everyone would be on board!!
Galaxy Tab Android Development (CDMA)
Galaxy Tab Android Development (GSM)
Galaxy Tab Android Development (...)
Please!!! lol
I agree that the Tab development needs to be split amongst compatibility.
GSM/EUR
CDMA
etc.
That will make the issues with possible flashing mistakes lower and also enable people to find the best build for them.
A third vote for at least something like a top level and sub forums for GSM and CDMA. There might be things that apply to both, but it seems like real development would be at least specific to one or the other, if not down to the carrier level (and I'm not suggesting per carrier forums).
A sticky for my directory(bible). This will be updated frequently. And will be useful for all noobs and pros alike.

What we really need is a bigger community. The larger the user base, the larger the dev base. Especially in the states, it seems like no one is developing for our Tabs specifically. And from what I've found, ours are, just like the Galaxy S, different from the international version.
So do we even have a Mod ? Can they do this for us ? Its been like weeks since we asked to split it up.....
+1beeeeeeelion to split and have a CMDA and GSM and Intl section added....and then under those when people list just say [Sprint] or [VZW] in the title of the thread....

Your official mod is taking a break, just busy with life lately. I'll be taking over until he comes back.
I've forwarded this thread on to the admins, being that after being here for 2 days I can already see how bad it is. Hopefully we can get the sections split up and I can start moving posts around.
Can we please also have teh same tagging as HD2 section has, ie the date at beginning of title..
example...
[19.MAR.2011][ROM] Rom Title Rom Version [KERNEL]
is it possible to get this "stickie" out of the developers section?
it would be more helpfull to get serious content into there. also the actual official thread is sticky and dead.
a sticky should be something important or something must read. this thread is not a "must read"
sorry, constructive critics
I agree we need some reorg. PLEASE look at my sig, and follow the HD2 url,
Seems the HD2 overall section has recently had a makeover. It is much easier to navigate, and the people whe are not devs can op in on the thread.
The devs, on the other hand, have their own section, that requires you be a dev in order to get into it and exchange ideas. This keeps the riff raff from convelouting the threads.
So, can you please look it over. What ever work is needed to be done, I will offer my assistance to reorg the threads and topics.
Thanks

I just looked at HD2 section, and theres nothing new there.
They have a section for NAND dev, and for SD Dev, thats it.
There are some plans in the works for the site in general that may do what you're referring to, but nothing is done yet for any of the fora.
If they give you guys the new sections, It will take me a day or so to move everything around. And I dont know tis section as well as I'd like so it may take a little longer as I'd have to go through every thread, but it would get done.
/IF/ that happens, it should clean up the sections a lot and make it easier to find everything. If not, I'm open to suggestions.
Hi everyone, I am new here and wanted some help.
I just installed the new express rom on my htc evo and I am loving it. I am having some minor issues though that I need help on.
1. I tried attaching pictures to my contacts and the pictures are showing up very blurry when the contact calls. It was clear with the stock htc before I installed the express rom. How can I make it clear?
2. I am trying to change the apps on the lock screen using the rosie utility and it doesn't work. When I try to change the apps from the "shortcut lock screen" it force closes. How can I fix this?
So far, those are the only problems I found right now but I just installed this last night so I will keep playing with it and learn more. Thank you for the help!! I really appreciate it!
Anyone? Did I post in the wrong section?
You will probably get more answers if you posted in the evo section

I have an AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II (SGH-i777) - Before I rooted it, I had ICS installed via Kies...and found this guide - http://galaxys2root.com/galaxy-s2-root/how-to-root-ics-on-att-galaxy-s2-sgh-i777/ - that showed me how to root it. After I rooted it, when the phone booted up, it showed the logo as normal but also GT-i9100 which is a different version of the S II to my knowledge. It also had a yellow triangle at the bottom. The phone worked great, but was very confused as to why it showed GT-i9100 on the boot. However, long story short...I tried ROM manager which I regret to this day. It screwed up the phone resulting me into looking through these forums to find a fix. I did on this forum - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1619571 - It solved my problem and got the phone to turn back on. Only this time, I still get the GT-i900, a different animated boot screen that has never been there before - and now a non-functioning back arrow soft key. Only my menu, home and search icons work...not the arrow. I assume this is because now the phone now thinks its a GT-i9100 and not SGH-i777 - Question is how do I go back to SGH-i777 so i can start ALL OVER AGAIN!
I will preface by saying that I'm still a noob, but i think i can offer some preliminary guidance.
First off, your problems were caused by three separate things you did that were incorrect. Using anything from galaxys2root is a bad idea. In the short time I've been here I've already seen countess posts from people who brick their phones by following the instructions there. On the future, stay away from that site and stick with xda.You will have a lot more success
Using rom manager is also a terrible idea with our phones. It doesn't work well with the I777. There are also lots of posts here from people who have done the same thing.
Finally, the thread you linked where you found the solution to your problem is from the 9100 forum, which is a different phone than the 777. That is why your back key doesn't work and why your phone won't boot. The rom you flashed is for a different phone.
It sounds as if you simply need to start over but using the right files - but don't trust me on this. you need to wait for more knowledgeable users to make sure you don't do anything to make things worse. The problem is you posted in the wrong forum, so not sure the right people will see this...should have posted in the I777 forum.
I'm not completely sure what the proper etiquette is at this point to get a fast answer. I'd suggest one of two things: ask a mod to move your thread to the I777 forum or better yet, delete this thread, and post on the I777 q&a forum (Make sure you delete this thread first however, because double-posting will get you in trouble here )
Good luck. There are a lot of very knowledgeable people here, one of them should be able to help you.

I appreciate the help. I will re move this thread and re post it if the solution 'I think" im on does not work. If you could do me a huge solid though...send me a message explaining galaxys2root. Thanks again
Not sure what i could explain about galaxys2root. i first saw the site as i was googling on ways to root my phone. Their "recipe" approach to "just click here and you are done" left me feeling uncomfortable because i wanted to understand what i was doing to my phone, and they don't really explain much. So, i moved on, found xda, and stayed here. I have seen countess posts here at xda from people who did follow the instructions there and then came here asking for help because they ended up with bricked phones. Yours was the second or third such thread just today!
I'm sure if you search the forums here for galaxys2root you will find lots more info.
I hope you solve your problem!
I wont post this in General thread coz almost all of the LU6200 specifics arent resolved there or with either poor hints.
I have tried a variety of PAC-JB/CNA/PA 4.1.x roms from develoid and all of them have one common issue i-e. not working SMS service. (even after putting the smsc# in *#*#4636#*#* menu). GSM calling works fine.
So if any of you knows a work around for this kindly come up. I am talking about the only roms I have tried with baseband 8660/9200 since its the same baseband provided with Bell_v20e rom by wflsl. Specifically SangROM's PAC and PA on develoid. It will be a day or two before I move to another phone and give up on the 10hr backup with barely a gsm support at all.
I humbly request not to move this thread to general/q&a section coz hardly any devs read threads there I might get a skim or two here in Dev catagory.
Thank You!
