Hey there!
I'm sitting here with a Z1 Compact with the latest official android (4.4.4).
For some time now, even after reinstalling, the keyboard has one flaw. When I hold down the backspace in certain fields, it doesn't continue to erase, nothing happens. I have to click on it continually and even then it's a bit jaggy/jumpy.
It's not all the time, but certain fields and boxes. If I do change keyboards, they work without this issue. Problem is, I've grown fond of the Xperia keyboard. It has everything I want and where I want it.
I'm just wondering if anyone has had this issue before. I can't seem to find anyting in other threads/google but that's cause people sually have bigger issues with their keyboards and they shadow the smaller ones. Is there some kind of fix? Does Sony know about this? Where can I make an official inquiry about my issue?
If I have overlooked a search result where this problem has already been fixed then please do link me that thread. It would be great help!
Thanks for reading!

Hi all.
When i spellcheck my emails, the spellchecker takes-up so much of the screen that i can't see the word that is supposedly spelled incorrectly. What that means is; I can't see what word I'm about to replaced with one of the proposed spellings.
Does anyone know how to make it so that the spellchecker allows me to see both my originally spelling as well as the list of proposed correct spellings?
Sorry if this is unclear. I'm happy to try rephrasing if need be?
Thanks

Does no one else have this problem? If I'm just missing something obvious, please tell me.
I use my TP2 for business email (as i'm sure most of us do) and I really can't afford to send messages without spellchecking. Given the issue i'm having, running spellcheck is extremely painful.
thx.

Yup, I have this problem too, noticed it last night.. together with the TAB key being missing off the keyboard... and the two locations required to switch in Delivery reports...
As for a solution, I don't know of one except getting rid of the touch flow... which im tempted to do - as once you get past the pretty'ness its "pretty" useless!
Alternate solution :
* To have both "Touch Flo 3D" and "the standard Windows Mobile menus"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GWE\Menu]
"CUIHandler"=dword:00000000
With the standard menus you see the text while spell checking, and you still keep touch flo (which I do find helps when using the TP2 as a one hand phone).

HarveyR, *thank you* for replying with that suggestion. I'm going to try that tonight and report back.
Harvey,
That worked like a dream... thanks so much!!
At the risk of looking a gift horse in the mouth; can you tell me if there's any way to resize the font on the "menu" now?
What i means is, when composing a new message, if i click the "menu" button, the font is HUGE which means i have to scroll vertically to see all the options on that menu. Do you know if that font can be set to something smaller? If so, how do i do that?
thanks again Harvey.

Hey, everyone. I recently obtained a Palm 3245WW bluetooth keyboard. The device works great, pairing is really easy and once connected it works fine without any glitches. The keyboard is really easy to use, and hiding the on-screen keyboard is easy in order to have more workspace. After a couple of day's use, I am satisfied with the build quality, it really feels like a real keyboard and it is quite responsive. Even some (not all) of the keyboard shortcuts work!
My question is if anyone who has used the keyboards knows how of a key combination to enter the alternative inputs (such as accents, etc). I could use them when writing Greek, where the vowels can be accented. Otherwise, is there some way to alter the key mapping in order to define how the system reads certain key combinations? I have tried several combinations, such as alt+key or control+key or Fn+key, but to no avail.
Any directions would be appreciated!
Thanks!
Sav
P.S. Apologies if this the wrong place to post this!
Why did U open a new thread. There is already an existing thread. Now this is when I don't read and jump on to post your cap.
However, I don't have any experience with this keyboard so I cannot help on this.

I searched around and did not find any threads on this particular keyboard on SGS2. I found a few threads regarding other phones (mostly unsuccessful attempts with this particular keyboard), so I thought I'd ask if anyone has used it with this particular phone.
Again, sorry if this is the wrong place to post, I am new here.
Thats ok matey, just do a comprehensive search next time.
Ok so this is just an annoying pet peeve...but as one example, I often mistype the word "just" as "juat," and I've never clicked to save the word or have in my personal dictionary, but now the keyboard autocorrect stops changing "juat" to "just." Other words included are "thks" for "this," "garvage" to "garbage" and "lll" to "lol." To clarify, thks problem comes with the LG Optimus keyboard, it's not like the standard/stock ice cream sandwich one. Not sure exactly how to describe it...I included a picture.
Just wondering if anyone else had this issue as well...not a dire hazard but it's extremely annoying. If anyone has experienced this, what did you do? Again, these words aren't in the phones dictionary, they actually come up as spelling errors and are underlined in red while composing text.
Thanks!!

If you check Settings<Language and Input<SpellCheck, you could disable that. I believe an option to see the contents of your personal dictionary are there too. Just in case you accidentally added those words.
I myself am a sloppy typer, often missing letter in a word, so I've found that the stock 4.2.2 keyboard that Google offers in the play store, has a better correction engine. And it offers swype, which is convenient with our huge phones! I'd also look into Swiftkey as well, as that is also an amazing keyboard I've used with previous phones, although it adheres to a more rigid correction system. Just my two cents!

Unfortunately, I did not see the option for "SpellCheck" unless it is somewhere else. The issue I'm having is not with the personal dictionary, as I have checked in there and there is no entry for such words as "juat" and "thks." The issue is with the actual keyboard and how it corrects, because right now it is failing to correct some of these errors I make. The system does not recognize them as correctly spelled words, but the keyboard still lets them get through. Not sure if there's another remedy for this
Is it possible to remove the special accented characters from the stock (4.3) keyboard? I didn't have this issue before flashing 4.3, but now almost every time I try to do a long-press when swyping I end up with a special accented character instead of the , or ( or : or @, etc. I thought that if I removed the language (like Spanish) they would likely go away, but I can't even find a way to even do that through settings. I am rooted and really not afraid to delete stuff via a file manager if someone can point me to the right files.
I'd love to know how to do this too. The special characters are killing me. I don't mind the characters like ! and @, but I hate the others because, like you, I keep accidentally switching to them.
Thanks for the confirmation of sanity. I was thinking I was the only one. Never did figure out how to do it but it's still bugging the crap out of me.
Me three! Anyone know how to do this?

Never thought to search for the reverse (adding languages) as a solution, but it might just work. I'm on vacation and don't want to hose my phone, but I'll try it when I get home this weekend.
Delved into the suggested solution above pretty deep, but couldn't get those characters to go away even after removing what I believe was Spanish languages/characters from that configuration file. I rebooted with each change, but still no go. I suspect the problem is that we're not actually using the stock Samsung keyboard config, but are using some sort of add-on SwiftKey keyboard that is built in to the stock ROM. I think the config file that needs the edited has something to do with SwiftKey instead of the OS. I don't really like Swype so I might try the paid version of SwiftKey to see if it has a way to remove those chars but have a similar keyboard layout that I'm used to. Hopefully they won't even be there by default.
I have the same problem. I try to end a question with? But end up with ñ
Fking maddening
Yesterday I received the 104.88 MB firmware update for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 ( GT-N7100) on Android 4.4.2. After updating my device I am facing a very annoying bug from Samsung Keyboard.
When I type something the keyboard predicts the word for example if I am typing 'Hel' it will predict the word as 'Hello'( which is great) but when you click on the predicted text it gives you two spaces automatically instead of one. It continues for each and every predictive text. If I turn off the auto spacing feature, no space is provided. So it is either zero or two but not one.
It is very annoying to keep deleting extra spaces between words of every sentence, especially when typing an email or tweeting where characters are limited.
It looks like this when you type with and without predictive text and auto spacing features.
Please help.
This is not a solution per se to your issue. But I would suggest that you ditch the Samsung keyboard and install SwiftKey from play store. It is now free. And much better than any other keyboard that I have tried. Give it a try.

I am also facing the same issue in my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (GT-N7100).
Waiting for an answer/solution................

Swift Key works fine and does not show auto spacing issues. But I don't want to ditch Samsung keyboard because Swift Key app doesn't support S Pen Handwriting mode but Samsung keyboard does it well. And I use both Keyboard and S Pen Handwriting mode depending upon situation (for example: I use handwriting mode when sitting comfortably and Keyboard+Prediction when I am on travel/commute).
Please someone help me and others having same issue. How can we get rid of this two space prediction issue on Samsung keyboard on SG Note 2?

I just checked on my phone. The double spacing bug is indeed present in Samsung keyboard. We can only wait for an update from Samsung to resolve this issue. On the plus side, Swype keyboard is recognizing S-Pen input. So if you guys want you could try it. I am quite happy with SwiftKey. I mostly use flow input and SwiftKey is perfect for that.
Thanks for the reply.
I agree with you that Swype keyboard recognize S-Pen input if you use typing/swiping (flow input). But I don't think it is compatible for Handwriting mode with S-Pen.
As you mentioned, I am waiting (probably there are more like me) for an update from Samsung to resolve this double spacing bug in Samsung keyboard. Let us hope they will fix this bug soon.

Any way we can make Samsung know about this?
I guys, I've just registered for this topic as I am facing the same problem. Since the last update (which I recall it was about a week ago) I am having the 2 spaces problem after I pick any of the suggested words. Now, is there any way we can make Samsung know about this? Like a bug report or something similar. I don't want to leave Samsung's keyboard because it worked just fine and I am used to it, plus it supports handwriting and well, I am just used to how letters are organised and the distance between them, I type fluently.
Any help will be welcomed, thank you guys!
I googled and found that there is a way and someone has already reported this bug/issue in Samsung Developers Forum.
Let us wait for a response from Samsung.

Am experiencing the same double spacing issue with predicted text on the Samsung keyboard. Input using the Continuous Input function is fine though. Only touch type is messed up.
Build number: KOT49H.N7100XXUFNI4. This update was only about 84MB as opposed to the 104 MB update the OP received. Not sure of the release date but I only installed it yesterday.
Have installed SwiftKey to use in the meantime.
This topic creator, i.e. me, is the one who has reported in the Samsung Developer forum but still no response. I think it requires a 'famous' tech blogger to take this issue so that Samsung notices the problem. BendGate , GapGate but Note 2 users have SpaceGate !
Oh! I see, so it is you who reported this issue in Samsung Developer forum. Thanks for the information. Also thanks for posting it on Samsung Developer Forum, let us hope someone from Samsung Developers will notice it and do the needful. :fingers-crossed:
Like you and me there are a lot of Note 2 users who are waiting for a response from Samsung on this problem.
Let us hope and wait for a positive response from Samsung on this problem. :fingers-crossed:

Double spacing
I've just started having the same problem after the upgrade. I hope someone fixes this as it's a real nuisance. I've turned auto space off. You get so used to typing in a particular way then discover thatihavejustwrittenasentencewithnospaces.
Double spacing issue on SG Note 2 Resolved!
I just got an update of around 60 MB size and the double spacing issue no longer exists. Thanks to Samsung!

what build number?
Just downloaded the update 3 days ago, which introduced the issue on my Note 2 device. What is amazing, here we are several months since the pronlem has been reported to Samsung, and the issue still exists. Anyway to backout the last update?
