HI All, have an intersting problem, was surfing the net via wireless when the unit locked up. Soft reset and now all I get is a white screen. The unit seems to hard reset with the startup sound that the unit makes when you first start it up out of the box, but the screen stays white.
Any Ideas?
mmm.... Hard Reset
HI Xeon,
tried that and still comes up with white screen, but does all the correct things re sounds but all you can see is a totally white screen.
You could try leaving it with the battery removed overnight but it sounds like a hardware problem to me, could be the lcd has died or the connection has come adrift for some reason.
I suggest u Upgrade or reinstall the ROM , maybe something happened to one of the files that should not be modified , anyway , u won't lose anything , u already Hard.Rstd .........
i had the same problem before..i did an upgrade that fixed it. but still have a backup even if its a white screen..after i upgraded i had another problem with the Storage Folder missing..and the list goes on..dont wory you'll know what i mean when you get it..
It happened to me the second day I got my O2 XDA IIs. Hard reset didn't seem to do anything... The unit didn't response to a soft reset either... It was just frozen... I removed the battery, boxed it up and was ready to return it. The next day, just before I was about to drop it off, I was curious and did a reset and everything went back to normal... It never happen to me again... Don't know what happened :?
I have the same problem...
The phone shows white screen white it can recieve & make calls, activesync can recognize it.. But the screen still white !!
Any other suggestions for helping solve this problem..
Is this means that the LCD is dead ?? or the problem in its connectors or it's a software prob. ???
I have this wierd experience with my Imate PDA2K, yesterday, when I open my phone (imate pda2k), the screen suddenly flicker... and then it fades. so i did a soft reset, as i thought would help me out of the problem...But to my surprise, nothing happened, it goes on flickering and fading, until such time, that the screen totally faded, all you can see is a whjite screen with no thing visible.. after minutes of doing a hard reset, still nothing happened, i leave that **** phone on the shelf. after 30 minutes, I checked it and all things back to normal, the screen was ok till a couple of hours, and that same problem happened again till now... What im gonna do? I always end up as if I will throw that silly damn phone to the trash can.. hehe.. What could be the problem then? Is the poroblem was on the LCD? Will the upgrade to v1.40.. solve this? Pls any idea, im desperate
u could try upgrading to 1.40but if that wont work, or if u rather not, if its still under warrenty, get ur provider to fix it.
I dropped my one x and the screen shattered but the phone was still usable, after a few days i noticed out of the blue all the apps would crash giving the error 'Unfortunately, the process (every app i open) has stopped working' so i was unable to open anything, if i restart the phone it will either get stuck in a boot look or will not turn on at all, sometime it turns on if i put the power in. I have factory reset the phone many times and that gives me an hours use with it before it happens again. I have sent the phone away for repair they have managed to fix the screen but still has the same crashing problems and they are struggling to find a fault. It is not routed and running on the latest jelly bean. Please help im going out of my mind, what could be causing this hardware or software???
im not guessing.....hardware and software. probably something broke on the mainboard (memory or such) so the rom cant load stuff from the memory and start crashing. definitly a warranty story here. send it back again. unlocking and trying to fix it here is a no go because you will loose the warranty that you still have now !!!
I have early version of Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and according to emmccheck (?) I have insane chip. Last week my mobile phone is really messy. It freezes suddenly and I have to remove battery to start it again. Somethimes softbuttons does not work and sometime only notification bar works - I can roll up and down.
First I was thinking that it was because of battery - it has frozen mostly when I was always on low battery. Then it start frozen when I was on 50 % and so I was thinking it is facebook messenger. Because it frozen always when I was using chat. So I uninstall facebook messenger and it does not help, it still randomly freezes. It was very bad because one day I had to remove battery almost every 30 minut, so I uninstall facebook app and it was working.. but only for few hours. So then I made factory reset and then it was ok for the whole day. But today it has frozen again and I had to remove battery.
So I am scared of SDS. I do not want to go for service center because I need my phone. I was waiting for Note 3, so I was thinking that it will be ok to the new phone. But I am afraid that my phone will suddenly bricked and I read that Samsung warranty is really bad and they will not admit my warranty.
So what do you think guys? Is it SDS?
Thanks for help

Hello, it doesn't show any signs of sds, sds is a sudden moment a dead forever, which cannot be restored without replacing the motherboard. You should try to factory reset the phone, then check if it still continues.

It wouldn't be SUDDEN if it showed any signs...
It's not SDS, I think you just need to flash another firmware which has a fix for freezes (because I had the same problem with two different firmwares, until I flashed a correct one which has fixes for freezing issues) and of course don't forget to clean your cache, and wipe your data.

Do some research guys. SDS is a hardware issue where the phone gets bricked in certain situations.
In 4.1.2, SDS is averted by freezing the phone whenever the OS identifies that one of the "certain situations" applies.
The good point is that you no longer get a brick and can retrieve your data. Your phone is still fcuked though. back it up, unroot it and clear any counters then return it for motherboard (EMMC Chip) replacement.
I've been experiencing similar issues with my device (freezing, choppiness etc),
and it also suffers from the "insane chip issue".
does anyone here have any recommendations on what i can do to rule out that its indeed the brickbug issue?
If I were you, I will reset the binary count, flash stock recovery thru odin and reset the devices status imediately. Flash back stock rom thru odin and send it back to sscc immediately.
Sscc will replace your motherboard within 3 hours with foc. ( my country malaysia).
About sds issue it has syndrome especially you has upgraded to 4.1.2. The freezes just the sign of sds gonna happen.

Alright guys, basically whats happening to my phone is that I would just have my phone randomly surfing the web or checking Facebook then out of nowhere it just randomly reboots. Most of the time it ges stuck on the Google screen and I had to do a battery pull and retry and after a while of repeating that it finally would load properly. .Also my phone would say that its charging even when the charger isn't even in and even it reboots sometimes it shows the charging screen when i haven't even plugged the charger in
If you guys can solve this wouthout favtory reseting that would be great !
DETAILS
-Not rooted in anyway
- Android 4.2.1
- Got it about 7 or 8 months ago
- this happened before but it would just reboot it wouldnt do anything else, I reseted it and it went away but now its back and its worse.
Any answer would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks
Sorry to say but when your phone is to the point where it has issues that seem to be system deep, the only thing you can do that is almost guaranteed to fix it is flash the factory image to your device. This is different that doing a factory reset which doesnt really do a full system wipe and reload as far as I know. Instructions can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626895
Note that you will need to backup everything off your storage (files/pictures/music/etc.). This will wipe your device clean.
Lastly, if your device thinks it is charging when its not, you could have a bad port. Hopefully its just the system though which can be fixed with the above suggestions. If not, you might need to have it fixed if possible. But it sounds like a system issue.
