Trouble with contact numbers on Lollipop - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, if I add the country code to my contacts, the calls will be show as an unregistered number. If I remove the country code, the texts will show as if coming from an unknown/unregistered number. This is very annoying.
Anyone have any idea on how to sort this out?

Indeed it is. I just wish I hadn't updated...

Nobody knows a solution for this ? I have this damn annoying thing to...

I found a work around. I ditched the stock messaging app for GO SMS Pro and the contacts appear fine. After that, I removed the country code from the contacts so that the names will appear when they call me.

same problem here. A phone number entered with a country code and the same number entered without country code are 2 different numbers according to my m8.....

Same problem...

i've installed dialer+ and the recent call list is right (in dialer+). The stock dialer is still showing it wrong.
So I guess it's a bug in the dialer. I'ts not possible to update or downgrade the dialer apk on a non rooted phone?!?

I use the hangouts for SMS and in contacts I have the number without Internacional prefix...

[Req][MIUI]Mexican Users and SMS Centre Number DB

Hi guys this is a simple request for a configuration number. I've been having an issue with sms, the thing is that I can receive and make calls without problems, even I can recive sms's but I can't send any sms I always get an error saying "Cannot send sms" I think it is related to the "SMS Centre Number" wich is automatically given in the messaging app, I remember that I used to have a number in that menu but now I only have "00", it is under "Messaging/Settings/Advanced Settings/SMS Centre Number" If anyone can share your sms centre number we can build a data base for further problems we might have with it.
The number I need is the one for Mexico's Telcel carrier (I really dont know if it is a generic number or if there is centralized server that gives you your carrier's sms centre number)
I have not been messing with Base Band (Radio), I still have the one that came with my phone, also I'm using franco kernel milestone 4.
Thanks in advance, I hope you can help me out guys.

No such option in my ROM. Looks like a MIUI related issue. You should try a different ROM.

Unable to send international SMS.

Hi all. I'm unable to send international SMS from my GNexus. My carrier says my settings are fine and no blocks against my account. Funny thing is that when I use the same sim card in a blackberry I can send international messages fine. The carrier did suggest I enter SMSC settings but the guide they gave me doesn't correspond with the GNexus menus. Can anyone help?

At the risk of stating the obvious, check that you have the correct number. Make sure you dial the "+", then the two digit country code, then the local number (usually without the 0 at the beginning.)
Can you receive international SMS? If so, reply to the same number.

Google Voice + Stock Dialer Integration

Has anyone noticed that Google Voice no longer integrates into the stock Samsung dialer app? Basically the problem is, if I use Google Voice for an outgoing call, the number that shows up in the call log is the Google Voice proxy phone center, not the actual number I'm dialing. It also shows the proxy phone center number on the screen while the call is ongoing. On the original Note (which now runs ICS), the stock Samsung dialer seems to work as you would expect and only shows the number of the person you are actually calling.
I'm hoping there is a fix for this somewhere. I'm not sure if similar threads for the Galaxy S III that I've seen are applicable to the Note II since it is running Jellybean, and it seems like Samsung has updated the dialer app (it looks different from the ICS dialer on the original Note)
Yep, I saw that yesterday
Yes, gv on this device is def wonky but as long as it works I'm not gonna complain.
Then again I'm seeing gv is acting up on other devices as well. Is google slowly dropping support? Hasn't been updated since beginning of year I think.

Yeah I noticed it too. Here's how I'm dealing with it:
Assuming you set things correctly in the Google Voice app...
Calls - I don't call many people from my contacts anyway so every time that proxy number shows, I save that to the contact. I learned that each contact receives a specific number, so it's been working.
Texts - I downloaded an app called GV Integration. It costs $5. This app makes sure that all your texts use you google voice number going out.
Note: You may not need the integration app if you save all the proxy numbers in your contacts but I found the integration app before saving the numbers. The only annoying thing now is receiving the texts with the person's name also in the message. I hope all this gets fixed too though. This is one this Sprint has the upper hand on for every phone.
this is the same behavior on my S3 as well. not sure it's a GV thing though, cuz on my HOXL, GV stores the contact number in the log and not the bridge number.
I just refer to GV's own logs instead of the phone-dialer log. I do all texting from GV itself, and I only give out my GV number (not the native cell number) for others to text me. That way, all the texting is handled in GV, and comes for free without needing a texting plan from my carrier.
My S3 on Verizon did this initially, then started working correctly, the call log would show the number I called instead of the GV proxy number.
My AT&T Note 2 is showing the GV proxy number, which I find annoying and wrong.
Google/Samsung/AT&T: I would like my call log to show the phone number of outgoing calls when I dial with GV. Thanks
Bump
has anyone found a fix for this? This really bugs me..
same here. is google dropping GV?
This isn't an issue on the Nexus phones or the HOX. It has to have something to with the Touchwiz dialer.

Google Voice update came out today but alas the issue persists...so it must be the dialer that's the cause.

i'm using a recently released, ported JB 4.1.2 GT-N7105 ROM with the newest Google Voice app and all of my outgoing calls in the call log show the number i dialed - not the proxy/bridge number. however, i'm using the same updated GV app on my SGS3 and it still lists the proxy/bridge number in the call log. stumped.

The problem seems to be fixed in the recent OTA 4.1.2 update.
Is it working for anyone using Cleanrom? I'm on version 3.5 and am not seeing it. :|

AT&T Voicemail on CM10 broken.

I recently installed CM10 and have not been able to listen to my voicemails. When I get a notification for a voicemail and try to call, it says "No voicemail number is stored on the sim card". Is there a number I can add to get this up and running? Tried using Google voice but it says there was an error forwarding the number. Anyone know how I can fix this?
Not sure how you could fix it permanently, but for a temporary fix just call your cell number on your phone and listen that way.

Thanks, that worked. Is this a known problem with installing an AOSP ROM? I'm coming from Verizon and I never had this problem.
I've actually had the same exact problem as you did. After days of searching, here's the solution:
Dial *#61# from your phone. AT&T will send you your voice mail number. Copy that down.
From the Dialer, hit Menu and go to Settings>Voicemail>Setup>Voicemail number. Punch in that number, and you're good to go.

I had trouble with this too. Go to the google voice webpage and verify your google number, youll get the same error if you try the mmi code given when you click 'activate'...so just get your google number and then on your phone settings under call forwarding change the forward number(s) to your google number, and keep the +1 in front. you may need to change your google number if this doesnt work, mine worked fine once i did that, but you might not have to. hope this helps.
Ya, right out of the box, setting up google voice didnt work properly. Had to manually set my forwarding numbers as my google voice. I had to do it manually, OH THE HUMANITY. Lol

I'D guess it's set to expect a ten digit US phone number. I think that is a property set in the build.prop. what country or locale do you want it to default to? I'm not sure I can help but I'll try...
