Hi people, as the title suggests, any music playing app does not work. This includes MX player, ES file explorer, Apollo and Gmusic.
Gmusic gives : "Cannot play track requested" error. MX pretends to play it, but no sound comes out. I think it is an issue with my DSP manager, but even after multiple factory resets and reinstalls of the libs/apk, no profit.
I have attached a txt of
Code:
adb logcat *:W > Logcat.txt
as I pressed play on Gmusic.
I would greatly appreciate any help (I only want to use reinstall of CM11 as a last resort, since i dont have the install zip)
Thank you.
PS: Gmusic is Google music

When I flash a new ROM and tell Google Music to download some music for offline, is it overwriting the old music I had told the previous ROM to download for offline? Does that make sense? I just don't want 10 copies of each song because I update ROMs fairly frequently.
Thanks.
That's a good question.. I guess the only way to know would be to download some, find the directory they are saved in, then switch ROMs and check the directory for duplicates.
I would imagine google music keeps a record of what it has downloaded and doesn't scan the directory. When you change ROMs this list gets wiped too and thus it redownloads the songs. Of course I could be wrong but I would imagine backing up google music data with TiBu and restoring it might fix the issue?
Each time when you flash a rom or remove the google account from the music app, the system automatically erases everything(music, album art, etc) back to the stone age. So each time when you flash, you gotta download everything again. It's a PITA for me because I have about 10gb of music in my playlist.

Yeah, I'm currently redownloading my 15GB of music with google music. I might just find the directory with all the files and move it, then use a different player or something. I can't deal with redownloading this every time I flash a new CM10 nightly.
/android/com.music or something similar.
Hello,
I just installed cm-10-20120824-NIGHTLY-maguro on my gnex and restored the Backup with Titanium Backup. Now I saw that Google Play Music was missing, so I tried to install the backup manually. This is what happened
Code:
[email protected] /tmp
$ adb install com.google.android.music-d870206409e42e27c8acbba37f8dd7a6.apk
pkg: /data/local/tmp/com.google.android.music-d870206409e42e27c8acbba37f8dd7a6.apk
Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_UID_CHANGED]
2757 KB/s (3760915 bytes in 1.332s)
With ADB_TRACE=1, this happens: h++p://paste.mrzyx.de/show.php?id=1204
When I try to install it via Play Store, I get this error message: 'Unbekannter Fehlercode beim Installieren der App: "-24"' ("Unknown error code during installing the app)
I don't want to use another player because I'd lose all my playlists.
Regards,
qsuscs

Same issue - I have quite a few gb of music, and being on galaxy nexus and nexus 7 devices, I dont want the music on my internal drive (no external on either available) or to have to carry round a USB drive and adapter. My guess is due to Apollo now core music player in cm10, perhaps a dependancy is missing to enable google play music to install.
I don't say that Apollo is bad, but I do miss my Playlists.
Must admit I too would like to replace apollo.

Ive been having the same problem since i flashed cm-10-20121027-NIGHTLY-maguro. Every time i try and install the Google music apk it says it cannot be installed. I would really like to listen to some music since i keep it all online with Google Music.
Hello,
I am on jedi x11, I installed the cube player from play store. It installed and when I hit play, there is no sound.
I tried fix permission, cleared cache and dalvik , unfortunately it didn't fix the problem.
Any ideas?
Works fine for me. Try another player. If that does not work reflash the rom with a fresh dl
Re: Cube player not working
I tried other players like winamp, Poweramp, stock music player, they all work. It is just cube that no sound comes out.

Then it either gonna be a rom or kernel issue.I would uninstall the app then reboot to recovery. Wipe cache then dalvik. Then re download app. If that does not work I would flash a different kernel just to try it out.
Got it fixed
I uninstalled the cube player app
deleted the rockon folder
wipe cache
wipe dalvik cache
fix permission
installed again the app from play store.
Now it is fixed!
I hope the dev will update the app,
I use BT headphones. Although the next, previous buttons works, the play/pause function button doesn't.
I have to stop or play the music directly on the phone.

I think that is normal. I have to do the same on cloud skipper or the Sony walkman on master 10
I started getting this error after i flashed walkman app in cm 12 rom.
I was unable to open Music app, every time i open it,i get a meassage "Unfortunately Music has stopped".
I was very irritated with that message
So I decided to fix it,and finally i Fixed it
Here are the steps which i did to fix it:
1)Go to app settings and clear the data of Media storage and Music app
2)Now reboot your device.
3)Now open Es file explorer and play a music, choose 'Music' App.
4)Repeat 3rd step.
5)And its done
The root of the problem was Walkman app.
Now both the apps(Music and Walkman) are working fine on my device
Note:This is my method and it fixed mine problem may it will work or not for you.

Great help, 2 hrs trying to fix my Music app and it was the clear "Media Storage" that I was missing...worked first reboot...Cheers
Nice guide sir, thanks
I have all my music as mp3 files in the music folder. There are over 100 songs but only about 10 of them can be seen in the music player. I have tried installing a number of music players, including stellio, retro music player and google play music. Also, if I try to open the mp3 file from the file manager, it asks me what app I want to open it in, but then nothing happens.
I'm not sure if this is because I am using f2fs but when I was on stock OOS with arter97's kernel it was fine and then when I moved to the sultanized resurrection remix on nougat (which does say f2fs support in the op) this problem started occurring. I have since tried a number of ROMs, wiping all partitions and formatting data to see if that would work before transferring my music back to my phone, but each time, I get this problem.
Any help would be much appreciated

Did you check whether the files are corrupted? Do they play on your PC/Laptop? If they don't, then the files are corrupted.
They play perfectly on my laptop and when I transfer them onto another phone they play fine on that as well
Most important (surprise!!!): a log from boot until Music has been started.
Did you check permissions and selinux contexts? (adb shell ls -laZR /sdcard/Music >Music.txt)

adb logcat -d >logcat.txt
adb shell ls -laZR /sdcard/Music >Music.txt
Put both txt files in a zip and attach it to your next posting.
For setting up adb see: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3t/how-to/adb-fastboot-1-0-39-t3599008
I ended up just switching my data partition back to ext4 and then back to f2fs, then flashing oos9.0.6 and then installing whatever ROM I wanted and this worked, but if it happens again I'll get some logs
