Hello!
I have recieved a "bricked" phone today and I want to try and make it work.
The problem I'm encountering is pretty strange to me so I'd be glad if someone could help me. I've seen a few topics here but they are either outdated or they don't solve my problem.
First, the phone boots into a 4-exclamation mark in corners screen. I've tried to run fastboot oem boot, or fastboot reboot-bootloader but it did not work.
When running fastboot oem boot, the HTC logo on white background appears and the phone vibrates a few times. I've attached the fastboot getvar allbelow.
Code:
C:\Users\FX>fastboot getvar all

Can you run the 2.3.3 ruu?
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA Free mobile app
I tried to run it but it gave me an error and it reports Radio_V2: Fail-PU which seems to me a radio brick. I'm trying the freezer trick right now.
The freezer trick seemed to work, I succesfully flashed 2.3 update. Now the phone is in a boot loop. Any ideas?

Haven't seen a radio brick in a while.
You either try to flash the 2.3 RUU a billion times hoping that it will eventually flash the radio, or change the motherboard.
I would personally recommend looking for a new phone.
It now says that the 2.3.3 RUU has flashed successfully which seems pretty strange, it's still in bootloop.
This is more like a personal challenge for me, as I am in love with HTC Desire Bravo (I have 2 more) and I really want to make it work.
I can get into bootloader now.

Now the phone only boots into the 2.3 ROM if I leave it in the freezer for a while. It does boot normally but after 2-3 minutes it restarts. I guess this is a motherboard fault, isn't it?

Hehe, the good ol freezer trick. This thread reminds me of the old days. @jmcclue
Yup, overheating of the motherboard . So yeah, as I said, replace the motherboard. I don't think you can find desire motherboards though.
Well, I got the whole phone completely disassembled. I opened out the metal box over the GPU and CPU and cleaned everything with alcohol (99.7%). Still not working. Guess I can't do anything more, though I enjoyed doing this attempt to repair it.

Hello to everyone
I have one problem regarding HTC Desire HD. The problem turns up after trying to downgrade ROM from :

I used aahk-13012012 to flash ROM but after starting the flash, mobile freezes in HBOOT and stay frozen so I shut it down manually removing the battery. In this process was written that the card was finished converting to golden card. Now when I start mobile it stacks in white screen with HTC logo and nothing happens. If I push volume down key and hit power, I have boot screen but I can’t control anything with up/down key or power button. If I remove SD card then it is possible to choose recovery, factory reset etc. but whatever I try result is not good. Sometimes goes like in recovery and ends with red mark on the screen. I tried to format SD card and put PD98IMG.zip in root of SD card but still nothing. I think while downgrading it finished only two points which were on display, I really can’t remember which first two were. Now HBOOT my screen looks like this:

So please if someone can guide me what to do and what is possible to do. What can be worst scenario, I lost my phone or there is a way to fix this ?
Thanks in advance

Your sdcard is not good....is corrupted, that is why it gets stuck in the hboot screen. Try using a different one and the hack kit will work as charm. Besides, the Hack Kit version u are using is not the lastest...
If you still are stuck then hit the IRC Channel....
Thanks for replay, I just want to ask you what I must do if I get new card? It must be golden card? Also what I need to do, is it enough only to put PD98IMG.zip in SD card root and boot again ?

just get a sdcard for the rooting process. You don't have to do anything but change the sdcard and re run the hack kit from scratch. your sdcard works ok for daily use but is not good for boot images....so you can lend one and after you are done give it back and use yours.
but how can I start rooting process if can't start the phone ?

you say that u used a PD98IMG.zip...where did u get that from?
I started rooting normally through command promt from my pc, after that screen goes to HBOOT and starting downgrade and stops. so I can't boot mobile phone anymore...everything I can do is press volume down power and see the white screen with information that i posted in beginning of this thread
after i connected SD card to my pc and looked what is on it, it was transferd PD98IMG.zip, later I tried to download some other version but still nothing

I have just sent you a PM
I have the same problem, but I didn't try to root or anything with my HTC DHD, everything just happened suddenly. I've got a notification about an update from HTC's Watch tool, I did update it. Later in the day I had to take out the SIM card. I didn't turn off the phone, I just removed the SIM card. When I re-inserted the SIM a few minutes later, the phone asked me to turn off the phone or reboot. I chose reboot. The system started up normally, but in SAFE MODE. I saw this for the first time. So I shut down the phone again and turned it on. But this time the white screen of death (that's what I call it) appeared. There is all the same info as to be seen like in the first post to this thread. I've tried to select one of the four options but my volume keys don't react. Sometimes it reacts, but sometimes not. I managed to go into recovery mode somehow but it didn't help. I just got a red exclamation mark. Pressing volume up and power button showed me up some more option, like wiping data cache etc, but it was not possible to select any of them because the volume keys don't respond. The only responding key is the power key, and as the reboot option is highlighted, I can only reboot and the same procedure is starting over again. The phone is in this situation for two days and I don't know how to fix it. Any help in this case?
Hi,
My phone stopped working after installing an app that might have contained some malicious code. I cannot get the phone into recover mode as when I boot up pressing the down or up volume button I cannot select anything.
When I connect to my computer using USB, I can use the fastbook command from the Android development kit, and reboot the phone normally. When I do this, all I can see on the screen is HTC is big writing. I can never access the SD card directly either.
During a normal boot, the phone says it cannot find a few files and hangs in the boot menu.
Anybody got any advise?
Thanks in advise.

can you post here what is your device information: hboot ver., radio, marvel/c/ct and other information which will help?
P.S. you don't need to write thanks, there is a button under my avatar
I had the same thing happen a few days ago... it was a PAIN to get my phone back to life!!
I was installing some fonts when it froze... then no matter what i did, it got stuck on the boot screen.
So... what worked for me was... turn phone off (which for me the only way was to take the battery out), take SD card out, put battery back, restart phone to bootloader (vol down+power). I had previously installed clockworkmod on it, so with that i could revive the phone.... BUT could not put the stock rom back on it, have tried different versions... so i'm using a custom rom (WildChild Sense) now... which BTW is much better!!
Oh and if your phone flashes this screen for a sec or two (see attachment) you don't need to worry about it, it has nothing to do with anything.... mine is working fine now and still get that message.
Good luck!

Yep, i tried that this morning, Didn't work,
something told me to try the RUU Updater again, it was going great until it told me there was an Error Recovery so it was going to help me recover it, after asking me to remove the battery which i did and insert it back after 3 seconds (WHICH I DID)

Oh god.. That's not good.
Does it show a led, or something, when plugged in?
Take your battery out, press the power button for 10 seconds, plug the battery back in, then try to boot.
Or put your phone in the freezer for 5 minutes with the battery taken out, then try to boot.
If none of these work, then say goodbye to your Desire. You'll have to either get a new phone, or replace the motherboard.
I've tried the first one and it didn't work, tried the freezer, nothing worked too, i guess i'd have to go get the board flashed

PHONE IS HTC__102 GERMANY
- I try to RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed.exe <- radio ver2 failed
- I have'nt gold card no usb debugging ON ROM not booting
- Rom not booting but flashboot have
What can i do more? How to find I a working rom for this phone? I would like to root and S-OFF.
Try this RUU: http://d-h.st/d44
Use this guide to flash it.
The fact that radio failed, may indicate a radio brick. This is the worst type of brick and there isnt really a known way to recover, other than to keep trying RUU's until one successfully flashes (very low chance). Good luck.

Well, actually it's a radio brick. A critical component of the software is corrupt, and this can hardly be overcome.
But yeah, changing the motherboard will solve the issue.

Well, I don't really know where the radio is stored, but changing the internal memory chip could probably solve the problem. (I AM NOT SURE AT ALL)
I don't think you can find a separate memory chip, and easily replace it. You can barely find motherboards, so I would recommend either replacing the whole motherboard, or buying a new phone.
Mine was stucked in boot loop after flashing incorrect ROM (i think)
Right now it can boot into recovery but cannot find any ROM that would install. After searching I think the solution would be flashing the RUU(i think also) but I couldn't find the correct one, here are my details

Your phone is not an HTC One X International. The first line shows EVITA PVT SHP S-ON RL
This HTC One XL or One X (North America)
Do you know which model you have?
If your One x Evita is a AT&T branded phone. Try this RUU.

If it does not work, browse and try any of the RUU here.

Hi, thank you for your reply, yes I have an AT&T, hopely this works, its been weeks that my phone is not working, BTW what will be the correct process to install this RUU? Do I need to relock my HTC? or just rebootRUU?
Another info that I like to share , "fastboot get version-main" & "adb devices" doesn't display any information, only in "getvar All' where I got some information
modelid: PJ8310000 - This is what I have when I execute fastboot getvar All

It is recommended that you do "fastboot oem relock" before running the ruu.
Did you make sure that the phone had 100% charge BEFORE you ran the ruu file?
If the phone died...its bricked
Can you boot the phone to Hboot?

Your device is dead. You can unbrick it if you have access to a Riff Jtag tool. This tool cost £191.66 (ex. VAT) to buy new.

You can either solder you own cables to the pinout or buy this ready-made adapter for the PJ8310000
