Hey guys, I'm wondering if anyone knows how to view the bootloader entry for the note 4. I know it is 'locked' but has anyone been able to even access the configuration file?
I work in the open source community and have some tricks of the trade that could come in handy if someone can 'show' me how the kernel bootloader is structured. The trick I have in mind has to deal with interupting the boot process after all file systems have been mounted and before control is handed to the system daemon.
Let me know

Have you tried posting this question in the Lets Talk Root! thread? I wonder how many devs read the Q&A forum. Just a thought.

Hello, iam using a webserver on my rooted droid, the think is that i want to be able to access it from localhost or the phones internal ip, but it only listens to the external one. Dose this need to be fixed from the developer or can i make some changes to some magical little config file in andoid and make it woke?
Thanks a lot!
not sure what a rooted droid can do (since this is the hero forums), but if you have a kernel with iptables/netfilter you can use that for sure.
yes i have Dose this action have a name so that i can google for a tutorial or do you think you can explain it to me? Thanks!
best would be if you check that stuff on wikipedia and google. "iptables" is your hint, it's kinda big thing in the linux kernel, even if knew how to explain it in detail if would be too much.
my suggestion would be to use a script to apply the rule after every boot (the command needs to be issued after every reboot, that is how iptables works). so you need to find out how to create that particular rule and then find a way to apply it (a shell script that needs to be executed with root rights). for that you are probably better off in a droid forum... (or do you actually mean the droid eris? when you say just droid it's the motorola droid in my ears...)
Hi, everyone knows that the atrix is unlocked and some people is looking for doing the same on the defy.
what we have to do is activate the cloud function, choose a server and the phone will look for an update.zip that will maybe unlock the bootloader.
If it fails we have to wipe the phone, choose an other server, and try again
My question is : is a faster way exists ?
for exemple i was thinking about exploring each server with a PC, but when i've tried i've only found a crossdomain.xml file on it. Maybe the phone is looking for an update.zip in an hidden folder.
Is someone knows exactly where the defy is looking for updates ?
when we will know that maybe we can found an file with explicit name like "unlocked-bl-update"
HI All,
Apologies if subject is already in place (I wasn't able to locate it)
I was following root of
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1644167
however not able to install anything via script due to "permission denied". Any ideas what could be causing it?
One of users mentioned something about opening port. Which port would it be and how to open it? On top of that edb.exe keeps reopening though I keep killing it in services.
I would be grateful for any advises
Kind regards,
Ryath23

try this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604439 it worked for me like a charm and make sure that your usb debugging mode is enabled in your developers mode
Hello XDA!
A quick thanks to those reading/interested and I apologize in advance if this belongs in the development section. I don't have permission to post their yet (perhaps with good reason!). After much searching, I've come to the conclusion there is, as yet, no free method of network unlocking the Galaxy Wonder GT-I8150.
I want to find a method to do this, test it, and then automate the process through a shell script and/or batch file. If it doesn't cost too much, I'll even try and make an app for it. I have two reasons for doing this: I own this model of phone (surprise!) and more importantly, I want to expand my portfolio of little computer projects because I want a job in IT, and I want it now.
So this thread will serve as a knowledge base and brainstorming place. Please -anyone with ideas about how to go about this - let me know!
Here's what I'm trying at the moment: based on a similar method used to unlock the HTC Sensation (and some other models), I'm going through the mmcblk virtual partitions after copying them to a .txt file (filetype is binary, .txt is just so my girl's Mac opens them with a text editor). Using a grep command with a regular expression I'm pulling every single 8 character long string of only digits and exporting the result to another txt file.
I then search the mmcblkXpXX file for these 8 long strings one at a time, trying to read through what I can of the binary file for giveaways like "isim_auth_key" or what not.
I started yesterday so I'm only up to mmcblk0p06.
If you have a network unlocked version of this phone, I might end up needing certain files to compare, but I won't ask unless I think I'm onto something.
Finally, if anyone has found an NV_data.bin, bml5 file (or equivalent) for this model, tell me what it's called! Or where I need to extract it from.
Thanks in advance,
GrayedFox
Info
Here are some links to information about unlocking various models of phones, using slightly different methods, for those interested. None apply directly to the gt-i8150 but I'm trying to tweak them just as a starting point.

Here is some information from my mmcblk0p06 file... wrapped in spoilers.
PERSO: Failure to write: %sPerso Command can be handled only on a provisioned session or when Card is not present on slotmits/perso.txt
[first mention of a person.txt file I've found]
EFS file read successfully [this implies there IS an efs file somewhere…]
EFS: Creating ISN file
EFS store sequence number
EFS: ISN file not present
AMSS\products\7x30\core\securemsm\smetest\test_crypto\src\sectestcipher.c
if anyone knows how to access that perso.txt file listed, please post the linux command here!
I'm afraid to say I'm running out of ideas here I've pulled every single mmcblk file on the phone - on stock rom and on cyanogenmod - looking for some sort of reference to a network unlock key but it's just not there. I even got Vodafone to send me my unlock key and have been searching the files for the exact key but it's no where on the phone.
I've even data dumped each of these files too - with an authenticated and nonauthenticated sim (network unlocked and network locked) sim and searched using a hex editor. I will have to move on to another project soon, but perhaps this will serve as an informing post for some: let it be known, there are absolutely NO references to an unencrypted network unlock key for this model of phone on stock rom.
Not in any of the mmcblkXpXX files (where most unlock keys are found for other phones) - and I've searched hard.
if anyone has further suggestions I'll remain subbed to this thread. Peace.
Probably they save a lock code, and the unclock is calculated with that lock code and IMEI.

Hey guys,
First off, I don't have any idea where to post this as the phone I'm working with isn't on the forums, so I thought it would be more appropriate here. Please move it into the correct place if there is one. Thank you.
So I'm a new comer of course and I was browsing the internet for solutions to my friends phone issue and I came across this forum. From what I can tell this is a really intellectual environment and therefore was inclined to make an account to see if anyone can help me out with my issue.
The problem(s):
Currently my friend's HTC Wildfire S (T-Mobile) is locked out.
He had tried too many times to unlock it via the pattern and now has to enter in his google email credentials to unlock his phone.
Right now the wifi or data is not on for the phone
Failed solution 1: I tried to call him and have him answer the phone. I then tried to pull the notification tab down in order to enable data or something but that didn't work. I had read on another website that it could work.
Failed solution 2: I downloaded ADB and tried to access the settings.db file in order to edit it via an add on on mozilla firefox. After going to the path where ADB was located i typed in "dir", where settings.db usually is it wasn't there. I then concluded that he probably didn't have USB debugging enabled as that is a strange setting to turn on for no reason.
And now here I am...
He doesn't want a factory reset because he wants his texts, I can only guess that he has important nudes he wishes to save, haha.
Anyway, I'm not too educated in computer or coding language, so if you have any ideas please provide me with some extra details for my noobie status.
As a result of this tinkering, I'm kind of interested in learning how to code and messing around with my Samsung Galaxy S2, so if you also have any pointers for that I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks for your help in advance,
I look forward to engaging in the community and trying to contribute
