Hey guys,
I went to reboot my phone this morning, and for some reason, it caused my phone to get stuck at the white HTC screen.
I did a full wipe, reflashed my ROM (ARHD 3.2) and installed all my programs. Again, on reboot it crashes.
Now, I have flashed the ROM again. After install I did a reboot, and it worked perfectly. What do you think could be causing this? Some software interfering with the boot cycle?

Did you restore your backups? Did you use fullwipe to wipe or did you do it manually?
I remember last time i got bootloop/stuck at HTC screen was when i restored my apps from mybackup pro...sometimes these apps do not work as they are supposed to
All I did was reboot my phone. Then it crashed.
After I flashed the ROM again, and reinstalled some apps, it crashed again. I hadn't restored any data at all.
I'm assuming then that it was an app that caused my phone to crash.
Could this be a hardware issue?
I reflashed a new ROM, installed some programs, went to reboot, and it has crashed. Again.
REALLY starting to annoy me. Anyone have any ideas what could crash a boot crash like this?
Ok. I think I have found the culprit!
Seems it's Busybox v1.8.1.4!
I installed it, rebooted and it crashed. Did it again on a fresh flash with no user data returned. Same effect.
Just out of interest, has anyone else had problems with Busybox 1.8.1.4 causing their phone to crash?
So my wife's Inc2 has been rooted for a few weeks and I installed a 2.3 Sense ROM for her shortly thereafter.
All of the sudden, her phone keeps rebooting and then "freezes" on a screen that has the Exclamation Point inside a triangle with a little green droid character under it. (My wife put a fresh battery in, it boots up into the ROM for about 10 seconds, then says "Powering off: Shutting down..." and goes into the error screen.)
So far, I have tried the following:
Turned airplane mode on.
Booted into safe mode.
Booted into CW Recovery, backed up, then re-flashed the ROM.
Ran a restore from a backup from a couple of weeks ago, which was pre-custom ROM.
Flashed the 2.3 Radio
Flashed a new Kernel
No matter what, I always get it to boot for a split-second and then it boots into Exclamation Point error.
Anyone think of what is causing this to do this after running for two weeks + in the current condition with no issues? What does this mysterious screen mean that it boots into? Any fix I can run via HBoot, Fastboot or Recovery?

Bumping, no one seems to be able to tell me a thing on what this means, what can be done to fix, etc. Any help is appreciated.
Wipe cache, dalvik, and system, then flash a different ROM.
If it continues after that then its likely the phone. And nothing to do with root.

Any chance you can take a picture of said screen?
What's weird, it sounds like you're describing the stock recovery screen. But you're still able to access CWM?
You probably want to update CWM on the phone and see if that helps out, one thing you want to do instead of changing kernels is re flash the rom again. Once it reflashes wipe data/cache (Do a factory reset basically) as well as the dalvik cache and boot into the ROM without restoring anything.
Just sign into google and see if it stays up and stable at this point, if it does something that's being restored is probably the culprit or a bad app that continuously tries to run.
By the way, the phone comes with stock sense 2.1, above that is sense 3.0
2.3 is the version of android that runs behind sense. Either 2.3.3/2.3.4/2.3.5 are all versions of gingerbread.
Try a different rom, if it continues, it's probably a hardware problem. My wife's first Incredible rebooted constantly, probably upwards of 2 dozen times a day. We had it replaced and the new one has been fine.
Update: I restored a backup of a previous CWR backup back in July. Shortly after I booted into the restored ROM (it was Stock rooted), it automatically tried to download the OTA software update.
Anyone think that perhaps the phone is automatically DLing the OTA and then rebooting and failing upon doing so? That is the only thing I can come up with at this point. (Though, back when this first started happening, I was on a GB ROM with Sense 3.0, so I wouldn't think the OTA would try to push over that ROM.)
I thought I read some where that other INC2 users were having similiar issues and it was due to the new android market OTA update.
Edit: Nevermind the other thread here in the forum suggests it could be some kind of HTC OTA update that is messing things up.

Weird. OTAs are usually disabled. Did you wipe dalvik/cache and flash a new rom?

I am in the process now, but I have had a GB/Sense 3.0 ROM as well as stock GB Rooted, both have ended up doing the same thing. I think I am going to manually cancel the OTA after flashing a new ROM to see if that will stop it from automatically doing so (if that is the issue).
Pretty sure its the market new market push. I had the same issue, I set the phone to airplane, shut it down before the automated shutdown to retain the airplane mode, then cleared dalvik cache and system cache, and then rebooted. I got some BS message about a failed OTA because no network was detected, told it to cancel, dl'ed the new market APK installed it, not an issue since.

It's not the new market. It has something to do with the OTA's on your phone. Regardless if the OTA was actually downloaded onto your phone or not it's going to fail because the stock recovery is no longer the default recovery which is one of the prerequisites it needs to install.
A wipe is needed to keep this from happening, at least load up the gingersense ROM and that should get rid of the temp OTA file that was downloaded to your phone.
jrizk07: I would agree with you, but this will be the 3rd time I have wiped the phone, the 2nd time loading a Gingerbread based ROM.
I wiped all items twice, and flashed this ROM: [ROM] RMK Gingerbread Sense r1 :: 2.18.605.3 (Rooted/Deodexed/Debloated)
Will let you know the results.

What i'm hoping is that the OTA files are on the phone and will get wiped with a new ROM. However if they're stored on the SD card all the wiping in the world won't help.
I'm not sure where the OTA files are stored and would like someone to verify for certain if that's the case. I'm just speculating right now on where it's stored but I know the market update is done just like the apps not an OTA.
I also know that the OTA will prompt you for the download. You know the whole download and install now or install later deal?
Well, did a wipe of all things (twice) and installed my fresh ROM. This time after installing all my Apps and doing my restores, etc, I went into the Settings under Software Update and did a check new, it says "No New Software Update Available." Also, under status, it just says the Source is Verizon Wireless, the rest are blank. (I believe at one time, all the fields were populated.)
I am holding out hope that this will work for us. Anyone know of a piece of software, etc. that will log all of the phone's operations? I am curious to see if it is trying to auto-update with OTA software updates.
I'm having the same problem. I can't even get it to wipe because when I start in recovery it goes straight to do you want to start update and if I try to start the phone it restarts and I get the exclamation point. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
Update
I took the sd card out and was able to boot to recovery and do a wipe. Phone is working normally for now, how would I go about disabling the OTA's so it doesn't happen again?
I can confirm this is being caused by an ota update. Have 2 inc 2's and both locked up. Both running rmk gingersense. Fixed by clearing cache and davlik. Rebooted phone and saw failed ota update error. Renamed otacerts.zip until rom is fixed. Otacerts is located in /system/etc/security.
I've recently started having trouble with my N7100 freezing/locking up.
I bought it shortly after launch, so it's a little over 1 1/2 years old. I had flashed one of the first rooted 4.1.2 firmware that was available, and never bothered updating because it was stable and got great battery life and I didn't feel like dealing with ROM stuff. But recently with the official 4.4.2, I decided to finally update, and decided on trying out DN3. So I flashed the latest TWRP, did the usual backing every thing up, flashed the MJ5 bootloader, and flashed it. It kept bootlooping, so I figured something went wrong, so I restored my 4.1.2 backup. This was where the freezing began. It was to the point where I couldn't use it. Tried rebooting a few times, but every time it would freeze as soon as it booted or shortly after. I assumed something just went wrong with the backup, so I tried flashing DN3 again. This time it booted successfully, but would occasionally freeze, most often when loading an app, but sometimes just randomly. After a couple days it seemed to subside. Then I decided to try out OmniRom. Same thing -- it would occasionally freeze up, then after a while would be fine. (Note: these were both clean installs.) Seems like every time I'd flash an updated version of Omni, the freezing issue would flare back up. Just now, I flashed the latest homemade build, and the freezing was really bad again, to the point where I can't even use it. Sometimes it'll freeze the instant it finishes booting, sometimes it'll freeze a few seconds after, sometimes it'll finish booting and will be fine until I load an app, then would freeze, and sometimes it would be fine for a couple minutes and the just freeze randomly. What's odd about it is that the screen is still responding to touch. Every thing's locked up, but when I touch the screen, the capacitive buttons light up as though it's still working fine, but nothing else works. I've even had a couple times where I let it sit for about 10 minutes and then it started responding again.
What's really frustrating is that I can't find a common cause here.Started on 4.1.2 (which had never had any issues beforehand), continues on a clean install of DN3, and continues on a clean install of OmniRom. Disabling Xposed and removing my SD card had no effect. It boots fine into recovery and download modes.
Does anyone know what the issue could be here?
EDIT: And now I've done a complete wipe, again, and reflashed DN3, again, and it appears to be working fine. Go figure.
It's not suddenly death?

sorry my english
I am having a weird problem,
I was using B513, it was working fine for a couple of days but then suddenly the phone started rebooting itself. The reboots went on for a while and then all was normal for a while. I used it and it was fine.
Then the reboots started again,, so i decided to change my rom. I installed B132 but it didnt even go to the phone setup. It rebooted after the Huawei logo. So then i installed B508 (chinese version),, the phone now boots up but whenever i try to unlock it,,, just placing the finger over the unlock sign reboots the phone. I have installed TWRP recovery but even in the recovery mode it is doing the same thing,,, whenever i touch any icon in the recovery ,,, the phone gets stuck and restarts...
Any help will be appreciated... Thanks
Hello
have you found a solution against rebooting ??
I had the same issue with B513 rom.
I tried to install a custom rom (omnirom) and i hoped this will solve my problem but not.
The phone with omnirom keeps rebooting, reboots 50-60 times / day.
in recovery mode my phone is stable, or if my son plays angry birds on it the phone works well. I tried to do some stress test, the phone became hot, but it was stable, so it doesnt seem to be a hardware issue.
I dont want to throw away my phone, but i cant use the phone anymore
Currently using B512,,, it is working but not that good
Reboots when i try to hold an icon on the homescreen or sometimes randomly reboots
Sent from my GT-S5282 using XDA Free mobile app

I have half solved the problem.
try to go back the earlier firmware as possible..
if i remember well, the chinese B111sp1 worked me..
and upgrade step by step through factory upgrade process.. it will take a long time, go through B111-B112-B113 and so on.
and when the system says, there is no more upgrade package, i installed omni rom 4.4.4.
Now its running almost fine.. if i start the system the system say: google calendar has stopped working, clock has stopped working.. i have to press ok a few times, and all error message disappear..
then the phone works, only the settings freezes
settings - language input - advanced options - then i press back, i get: unfortunately, settings has stopped
but i can live with it, because i can make and receive calls.

i checkey my system with stress test, etc, everything was fine, i thought this must be a sw issue,
the final solution:
backup what you want to keep..
Install twrp.
download omnirom 4.4.4 and gapps 4.4.4
and copy to sd card
boot to twrp
format the system partition, wipe everything except sd card..
wipe all. the wipe and format is the most important thing, without wipe and format, the system will be unstable again.
install omni rom and gapps
reboot
and enjoy
My problem is a little more complex....
As you said to install a custom rom but that is the problem,,, not even TWRP works for me anymore. It reboots when i touch anything in TWRP,,
so i am assuming something else is the problem
Hey,
some days ago i went from 7.1.2 to 8.1. I haven't had any issues whatsoever.
For some reason tho it seems like there's something wrong since my bug isn't listed as known.
The first ROM i tried was RR 6.0, and i tried it 2 times with this ROM. Same bug, just like with crDroid 4.1 which im running now. I even performed a COMPLETE wipe and made sure to flash the latest twrp recovery.
Whenever I setup a displaylock (PIN/Pattern/.. except swipe which is default) the device freezes immediatly afterwards, becomes totally unusable so im forced to pull out the battery. Rebooting then takes me to the lock that was just setup but entering the code just freezes the phone again. There's no workaround so far - everytime it happend i had to go back to factory settings.
Since i need to setup a displaylock to install a certificate I could really need your help. Im thanking in advice :good:

i delete /data/system/locksettings.db with twrp file manager to get rid of this problem but i can not lock because all lock types freezes.
