I just updated my wireless router from N to AC 2 days ago and im noticing my N4 periodically loosing connection and reconnecting. Plus theres times where it looses wifi connection and i have to restart the phone to be able to reconnect. All this is impacting my battery life. Anyone out there able to shed some light...???

Has anyone been able to use Internet Sharing and have the computer charge the PPC at the same time? I have Black Majik and Vista if that matters at all.
Yup, that exact scenario works for me - ICS via USB and the phone gets charged by my Vista laptop.

I use Internet Sharing all the time on my Sony vaio MS XP with my HTC 8525. I does charge the battery at the same time.
In that case, does anyone have any idea why it doesn't charge the phone on my laptop? It charges fine when connected via the Windows Mobile Device Center, but when using Internet Sharing, it won't charge.

Works fine for me. Not sure why it isn't for you. Only thing I noticed is if the phone's bandwidth is uses constantly, maybe the charging is lower.I.e. when I have it connected, but am not really using it for significant bandwidth, then it charges faster.
u won't be able to charge and mantained 100% batt power when running internet sharing & with HSDPA connection active

This is very true. With heavy HSDPA use while using ICS, it is actually quite possible that you can be pulling more power from the phone than you are putting back into it through charging. I've ran a battery from full to dead over the period of a couple hours of constant high-speed downloading while using ICS.
Hello all,
I hope someone can help me out, I am using WM6 and it is not rom related because I tried others. While I am connected to the internet through the usb cable using the internet sharing on my 8525 the battery is always low, and it doesnt fully charge unless I disconnect from 3G, EDGE however has no problems and battery state is always at 100%..I just had an episode where my 8525 just died cause of low battery while using 3G...
Is there something I could do that my 8525 will be 100% charged while using 3G via the USB cable or there is no around it and eventually the battery depletes even tho it is hooked up to the usb port??
I mean its connected to usb port and it has constant electricity why does it die?
Thanks a lot...
Any fix?
Have you found a solution for this?
I am riding in a car right now and was tethering 3G to my laptop with the screen set to never turn off. I was watching HULU on my laptop. About 30 minutes later of tethering, I lost my internet connection on my laptop. I look at my Evo and the LED is blinking amber orange. I tried to turn it back on but it wouldn't turn on. I had the phone plugged into my computer charge only but I was wirelessly tethering because for some reason the USB tether wasn't working. I know it isn't a problem with the charger because I have my regular DC car charger right next to me and I still have the same problem. Is it possible that I completely killed the battery by tethering for so long and having the screen on the whole time?(battery was at about 25% when I first started tethering. Phone felt pretty hot as well.
What you just described is simply overheating. The phone will shut off to protect itself.

Hi All
I purchased my HTC this last Saturday, it was tough decision between S3 or One X
Anyways got myself a shiny new black One X !!
All was going well till now, I am still getting the battery properly charged so will not comment or raise any complains there since the battery is new and needs to be charged for atleast for a full week to show its potential
Anyways I work in night shifts, so came to the office and the battery was at 50% or so... I then connected to the office's Wifi network which uses a D-link router.
After sometime maybe 20-30 mins left the Wifi on and the phone was connect to my office's network ... it rebooted itself !!! I thought maybe something went wrong and ignored it
Then after 20 mins or so again when the phone was locked and sleeping and still connected to the WiFi of my office it did it again.
Then again after 20 mins or so rebooted while the phone was sleeping and this time it did not come on by itself but I had to press and hold the power button to get it turned on again
All this rebooting caused my phone's battery to come down at 18% thats when I connected it to the charger and while it was charging it WAS CONNECTED TO THE WIFI AS WELL... STRANGELY ENOUGH THE PHONE DID NOT REBOOT EVEN ONCE....
So this issue for me only coming when the phone is on wifi for sometime and when the phone is not being charged ... THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN ON 3G SIGNAL FOR ME ONLY FOR WIFI..
I have not tested this with my home network which I will today by letting on run on my home Wifi and see if reboots on its own again or not
FYI: I DONT HAVE ANY ANTENNA PROBLEM, MY WIFI COMES AT FULL STRENGTH AND IT DOES NOT GO DOWN OR UP WHEN I PRESS THE TOP PART OF MY PHONE.. SO I DONT HAVE THAT COMMON WIFI PROBLEM
does anyone else face or faced this similar issue ??? if yes then is there any solution or do I have a faulty HOX??
Thanks in advance for your suggestions, comments or solutions..
P.S : My phone is currently running on Stock HTC One X Rom but I have unlocked the bootloader and also rooted the phone with CWM & Super User installed...
I have AT&T (not for long) home internet service. I was late on just one payment the whole time I've had them (5+ years) and got shut off without notice. Now they say they can't find my account information. WHATEVER. They're getting cancelled. Anyways I am setting up my WiFi tethering so I can get my laptop back online.
I set it up using WPA security and typed the password in and it connected without problem, but nothing worked. The phone was maybe 6 feet from the laptop. I usually have pretty decent/good signal at my house too. I ended up having to put the phone physically on the keyboard of the laptop to get a signal strong enough to visit any sort of webpages.
Is this normal? I feel like having to place my phone ON the item I want service on makes it kind of pointless...

Also. I plugged my phone into a/c power knowing I was about to start tethering. I have been plugged in since 93% battery and my phone is at 83% on a/c power. Is that normal too?

I used the tethering option this morning and it worked great. I was connected for over an hour and only lost about 2%. The speeds were great. Maybe you could try tethering in the meantime.

I've heard some carriers are blocking traffic when connected with tethering (haven't experienced it myself though), so that might be what is happening.

Your power loss definitely sounds excessive to me, I've never experienced a loss in power when tethering/hotspotting when plugged in to power. Instead of hotspotting, perhaps you could try USB tethering.
