I recently was given a new redmi 1S and i have to say I am really happy with it. I manage to root it and install TWRP.
But since it has a different chipset I was wondering if there were any custom rooms for it. (Instead of using snapdragon it uses MTK) as far as I know there are no ROMS for MTK...
Also how can get rid of the bloatware, would factory reset help? Also if I factory reset do i lose root privileges?
Thank you in advance
There does not seem to any roms on xda for the 4G version of 1s. But to simply remove the bloat, install any sort of root uninstaller and remove it. (eg. Link2sd, Root Delete, Root uninstall, etc)
You may want to check the miui forum for further support for the device - since the non Chinese version is snapdragon based only. (I think)
EDIT: Yes, you will loose root if you factory reset it. And you really shouldn't reset it after rooting. It can mess up the system partition in some cases.
want 4G rom for redmi 1s????
Down load (slim6 6.0.1 rom and gapps) and flash it via twrp or any custom recovery
please note
i hope u has a rooted redmi 1s and custom recovery installed
its really work ??????

I installed cynaogenmod 12.1 in my redmi 1s, i have full back up of miui. now want to go back to miui with restore my whole data , can anyone tell me how to install miui which i have in back up . plz tell me it's important .. also tell me how to root because today i installed twrp manager app but it shows ur phone is not rooted but i root my mobile when i installed cynaogenmod , so i don't know how to root mobile in cynoagenmod 12.1 ??
Now you are not being specifically clear.
1. cm roms are generally pre-rooted, you can use apps that require root permission such as titanium backup.
Why would you require to root-again? Unless you remove your su privilege.
2. To restore back-up-ed roms, you just need to boot into recovery, full wipe, then choose the location where your backup file is located, its usually at twrp/xxxxx.
Either at your sdcard or internal storage.
It's the same method as installing a new rom.

Hey pal if you are on cm12 you have to enable root in devoloper options (just click 5 times on build number in settings-about phone to enable dev options)
Next use twrp manager to install twrp
and one question how did you backup with twrp or other confirm first
after twrp installed enable advance reboot in devoloper options and reboot to recovery and restore the backup (select the storage in which you backed up)
I made this clear as u seemed like newbie . If you know these ignore them
I had already rooted my oneplus 3 once but I unrooted it for some reason. Therefore, bootloader is already unlocked. I was just wondering if I flash Twrp and then install supersu. Would it wipe my data?
No it won't. I would keep TWRP just incase something happends. Also I prefer Magisk over SuperSU. It has a ton more features and is alot more user friendly and it will persists during system updates.
Hi everyone!
I have rooted my phone. To be honest I don't even remember when
I've used kingroot. Don't remember version or source.
I have newest clean rom.
Didn't have any problems since rooting but I started to wonder if my data is safe. How Can I check it?
I've used KingRoot a few times for other devices, and it always makes me nervous. Use other methods for root if available.
The key to using KingRoot is to ONLY use it to obtain root to flash TWRP. Once you get TWRP recovery flashed, boot immediately into it and do a FULL wipe of everything except the recovery (ie system, data, etc, etc). Then just flash a custom ROM with a normal root like Magisk and that should keep you safe.
KingRoot is exclusively coded by a Chinese group, and it has been verified that the app has sent meta data back to China. So who knows what else it sends back to China. Sometimes on some of my devices it's the only option, so I just follow the steps above to stay safe.
Good luck! :fingers-crossed:

Your data is safe if you make a full wipe after rooting and flashed another rom.
On the orther side your imei is in their database now.
What has happened to the Redmi Note 8 in recent ROM updates?
After installing stock Global MIUI 12 I can no longer do anything with TWRP. Everything is encrypted and I can't flash Zips or ROMs or Wipe Data or Format. I can install TWRP and have tried several builds but I can do nothing. I've attempted to run verity and it soft bricks it, I've tried probably everything I can find but I get nothing but red errors and the system files are all gobbledeegok from TWRP. Can not install anything. What changed? Why did it change and how can I get this rooted again? Without root the Note 8 is nothing but a screen full of ads and is full of pre installed spyware and I hate it.
I have tried to back date as far as I can but the only flashes it allows me are the fastboot ROMs from their repository.

Let me tell you that twrp otg backups don't work at all. I have 2 USB c hard drives and twrp can't make a backup with them. I don't know why but it can't. I'm really unsure of this phone because there's really nothing you can do to backup anything. You flash a new rom and you have to format everything and start all over again. No music no apps no nothing. I don't even understand what fun that is? Every rom seems to have different instructions and it's a mess.

Ive been doing the custom roms thing for about 4 or 5 years. It's always unlock bootloader, flash twrp, make twrp backup of data, system and boot. Flash magisk or custom rom.
Well now it's different there's no way to back it up. If I make a twrp backup to the internal storage and try to copy and paste it to my USB c ssd it fails it won't allow it. I don't understand if you try to make the backup in twrp it'll say backup failed. I have no idea why I can't make a backup that means I would have to flash stock to fix a bootloop lol it's ruining the twrp experience
There are so many guides on the internet. We don't need to repeat this. Use YouTube and Google.
Search "Poco F3 Flash Custom ROM" and "Poco F3 unlock bootloader"
@dreamytom Just reading a few threads here on xda would be enough to find almost all the answers you need ...

From a certain point of view you are right, but we should also give the developers some time to fix things. It is true, with previous versions of android it was easier to flash and without having to set everything up again, however, it is a phone with a more complicated system therefore the developments of the twrp are more complicated. Without forgetting that the entire development is supported only by donations and the rest is completely free ...
There are some tools too...if you are using same base os... you can use tool to backup and restore.
1. Migrate
backup you app (with data)
restore from twrp
(search it from xda)
2. Swift Backup.
3. Miui has backup and restore too.
but for your data (photos, videos etc) manually backup to your pc.
that's all..
yes, backup restore from twrp not work yet.

I already know about those app backups and it's really not the problem. You need to than make sure you have them stored on a USB C drive because if you format data than bye bye to those apps. Twrp we're the best and I didn't like the idea of no micro SD card but I figured oh well USB C drive will work.
With every android verison update we lose a little bit of root. It's not like when actually change anything to the system it will bootloop. We can't make system backups and now magisk hide is removed that one I don't care I never used it. There's a point when having root doesn't matter really and we're almost there. Coding is getting so complicated that after OEM updates stop I wouldn't be surprised if people can't build updated Android roms
