First off sorry if this is answered in another post, lease kindly direct me to the post if it is =)
I just tried to install a second ROM from ROM Manager. I was running DCU and created a back-up in ClockworkMod before I started then installed the new Fresh ROM successfully. When I tried to go back to my first ROM via the restore point I set up it gets stuck in a boot loop. The 2nd restore point from the Fresh ROM loads up just fine.
Is there anyway to fix the older restore point and get back to DCU or should I just wipe everything and reinstall DCU...
Thanks in advanced!
do a data wipe, clear cache and dalvick
Then restore your backup. Clockwork does not seem to like certain roms.

Hi all,
Would really appreciate your help! I'm a nOOb and may have bricked my phone. I rooted and installed a LeeDroid Froyo Rom last year, updated this recently to LeeDrOiD V3.0.2 GB. I got brave today and attempted to change this to RCMix S v1.3 (Sense 2.1+3.0mix) but now my phone is stuck on the HTC Bootscreen.
The process I followed was the same as when installing LeeDroids ROMs:
I backed up my apps
Re-partioned my SD card - 512md using ROM Manager
Used ROM Manager to boot to recovery
Factory re-set
Re-installed ROM Manager
Copied the new ROM zip file to the SD Card
Used ROM Manager to boot to recovery
Installed the new ROM which installed correctly ("Congrats, successful installation, re-boot and enjoy ..." or similar word to that effect)
Re-booted
But now it's frozen on a permanent HTC logo bootscreen.
I would greatly appreciate any help you can offer, or a link to the solution if there is one that may have been requested and solved before, I've spent an age searching the forums but can not find a solution.
Thanks in advance,
Karl
sounds like you didnt wipe the dalvik cache.
I would drop the battery out, replace and boot into recover, wipe data factory reset, wipe dalvik and go for another install.
Can you confirm if you did the above?
edit: oh and i dont know if its made a differance but when i install a new rom, i transfer to the SD card then, wipedata, wipe cache and then install as opposed to booting the phone after wiping data
Before flashing you always have to do a full wipe.
Your systemdata and apps can backed up by Titanium Backup. The backup don't get deleted by the wipe. After flashing the new rom (and eventually re-downloading/re-installing Titanium Backup you can restore all systemdata and apps by "Menu>Batch>Restore missing systemdata and apps".
First tip for the future: Always make a complete nandroid before every flash. If there are problems with your new system, you a running system anyway.
Second: When go from sense-rom to a non-sense-rom (or reversed), you must not restore system data, only the apps. Otherwise there can be heavy problems with your system.

Cheers Vis-tec,
Yeah, it was the dalvik cache, I did exactly what you suggested and it worked perfectly. Never heard of dalvik cache before but wiping it did the job.
Thanks again,
Karl

Thanks MatDroid,
Good tip about the system data when moving between sense and non-sense roms - I would have found that out the hard way for sure!
I know nothing about nandroid so I'll start reading up on it!
Thanks again,
Karl

Another good tip, I assumed that the wipe would delete the back-up, or to be more precise, I was unsure where it backed up the data/apps to. So I uploaded to Dropbox using the Dropbox feature in Titanium Backup ... this takes an age so it's good to know that the backup doesn't get deleted by the wipe for future rom changes!

Try using RaRecovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=839621
It's the recommended recovery for RCMix S. I got stuck in splash because of CWM.
Well i wiped dalvik cache and cache only and now stuck on sasmung logo?? How much time davlik need for rebuilding or I need to restore all backup (waited 15min and nothing)? The all backup restore didnt work too...So factory reset is next right?
The factory reset worked but when restoreing backup its the same thing. Pls help where could be the problem in backup (system,boot,data...)
Stock rom CWM persus kernel

Really no idea, maybe some file corrupted.
You can use odin pc to install stock rom. After successfully reboot then root it and do restore again.
Good luck.

What do you want to restore? Did you already have Perseus kernel when you did the nandroid backup?
How did you made backup?
:*: Neebi :*:
maurice srefmen
Yes the persus kernel was instaled when i did nandroid, I used cwm backup to external card, tried to restore one by one but when restoring data i get stuck. I whant to restore everything, thats way I did backup before wipeing dalvik. So only left is flash stock root and try again?
Which error message do you have? Did you move or rename your backup?
Try to go to advanced settings and restore data only.
No error just stuck at boot logo, I tried every combination with system, boot, data restore but nothing, then I restored eariler backup without persus kernel in it and it worked (reverted back to stock kernel) then instaled persus again and its all fine now :good: Do you think there is some problem with backuping when persus kernel is installed?
I didnt now that factory reset with cwm doesnt erase sd internal so I have everthing back in place. Tnx everyone
Nice :good:
I know that we can have some issues when we try to restore a nandroid created from another kernel but nothing special but the Perseus kernel.
But AFAIK there is less problems with TWRP than CWM so it's possible that your problem is a recovery one and your custom kernel doesn't matter. Just try TWRP and let me know
EDIT
Factory reset only erases /data and /cache folders
I tried with TWRP and no problem with backup or restore :good: tnx
I have my OP3 rooted and bootloader open today I installed the newest version of Oxygen OS I installed the software throught TWRP but i forgot to wipe dalvik and the cache but surprise the boot back without problem but i went to install supersu from also TWRP said everything was installed ok and I restarted but now is on a bootloop I already wipe dalvik and cache several times and im not sure how to installe again stock recovery or even how I will be able to install Oxygen OS again, and i make it worse cause i used TWRP and did a full wipe and now is stuck on the 1+ logo, help please.
did u make a nandroid backup and/or did u make backups of apps with titanium backup or another app?
u may just have to do a clean flash, always make backups before doing any new install
no i didnt

oh no that was a rookie mistake, what i suggest is, clean flash unfortunately and start fresh, always always always make a nandroid backup, so did u get it working yet? or u can try to dirty flash and see if u just had a bad flash, just clear caches and install OOS full zip
Hello,
so I recently updated to 9.0.6 but I had some weird issues with apps hanging so I thought I would just factory reset. Everything went fine, then I remembered I forgot to backup certain apps so I thought I would just bring my nandroid backup that I made prior to updating to 9.0.6. The nandroid backup is on 9.0.4 and after I restored it through bluspark twrp, it just boots right back to twrp.
I tried the restoring process one more time and it does say at the very end failed to mount /system and it needs cleaning.
How can I fix this?
Update:
I finally got everything done. I wiped everything, installed 9.0.4, then restored only the data partition of my nandroid backup. then I was able to backup the few apps I missed.
Wiped everything again, installed fresh new 9.0.6, restore app backups
ok so I've managed to fix it by wiping the phone and installed a full rom.
However what I don't understand is why my nandroid backup isn't working? any thoughts?
