Hi guys,
I've googled this issue quite a bit, and am getting a lot of hits from a few years ago (different devices like gs3, nexus 5 etc) about a problem that seems very similar to the one I am having... Basically every time I try to change my VPN settings I get a popup asking me for my "credential storage password". See screenshot below. I've tried random passwords that I may have set up and everything suggested on other forums... Nothing I do has fixed it so far.
Most other forums mention setting up a device lock screen password or pattern or PIN and this seemed to have helped some people.
Others say to "clear credential storage" using the settings>device>security>clear credential storage button and setting a new password. This also worked for others..
Some random websites suggested creating a shortcut icon that directly takes you to the VPN settings page, but this has not helped either... It keeps asking for some f*ing password that I have no idea where it would have come from!!
Has anyone had similar problems?? I have no idea what's going on, really, so if anyone has any ideas, please help!!!!

What method of lockscreen do you use? Do you have it on pattern, Fingerprint? etc..
I have it on PIN - a 4 digit code. I've tried entering that as the credential storage passw order too, but no luck...
Are you able to access your VPN settings menu??

Thanks for writing back. Can you post screenshots of what it looks like?? Do you have a T705 or T700??
As I said in the OP I found that some people echo your comments... I tried setting a PIN and a normal alphanumeric password, but nothing seems to work!!

Hi!
I just wanted to share this little utility, because i think many others might have the same issue. If you use are receiving mails from your company and your settings in the Hermes has been changed because of security-reasons - Here is the help you might be looking for ...
Im talking about the LOCK feature being disabled, so that you can not change it to TURN OFF LOCK.. Well.. If you run the utility on your device, it will change the registry and let you change it again.. It will also make sure that when the company security changes it back - it will fix it again.. Works smoooooooothly...
Enjoy !!!
I have installed it. Howdo I run it? I cannot find it under Programs.
I would like to run it only when I am using TomTom. How do I do it?

hi guys, please download the latest version, which I decided to enhance recently after first released this program more than 2 years ago.
http://www.zenyee.com/2008/10/19/stay-unlock-goes-20-after-two-years/
The new version has a UI to enable or disable the overriding of the security policy set by your exchange server.
It also allows you to override the time out value that's also enforced by your exchange server, something that a few folks have requested as there are people who still wish to have device lock enabled but only after a longer time out instead of the one set by the exchange server.
Finally the program will run silently in the background, and the activities logged in a log file instead of popping up with dialog box or notification bubble. So no more issue with Stay Unlock not overriding the enforced policy due to the pop up box (reported in the smartphone version)
for both Smartphone version and Pocket PC version (WM5 and above)

Hey guys, I don't know if this is the appropriate spot to post this, so I was just randomly messing with my phone and I went into edit mode for data ##3282# and i tapped on the HA PASSWORD and my swype pulled up and read everything behind the dots, I have boost mobile on my sg2 so that was "secret". I was blown away, so I tapped on the AAA Password and it too revealed the AAA PASSWORD. Just random, I thought I would share. I don't know if anyone has discovered this or not I googled it before creating this post and I couldn't find anything about it.

My guess is that swype is trying to do their prediction on a password field. The scary part is that I wonder if it's learning will cause an actually secure password to be remembered and displayed!
Yes spooky indeed.

I followed your suggestion and received the same results. Did you check to see if the displayed passwords were correct?

Yes, well partially, I know I get secret from the HA but, I get a different result from the AAA and the actual hex. I looked at the results via hex edit taken from a text file I saved along time ago that has all of my data hex info and it is different so I don't know what I'm actually pulling up. If that makes sense.
So for about a week or maybe more (I haven't come to XDA in a long time) the page hasn't loaded up properly.

Having a few images missing here and there but not such a big deal... until today.
I noticed the computer was overheating and checked the task manager to find this:
12-15% CPU time and over a Gig used memory on several tabs (already closed in this image).
So I wandered what could be causing this, so I had a quick look under the hood to find this:
It seems the domain of the logo http://forum-lw-1.xda-cdn.com/images/2015/xda-logo_newcolors.svg is down or blocked.
Code:
net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED
and both Chrome and Firefox keep trying to load it forever.
So taking that in account I used Hola to proxy my way around the problem and sure enough it worked!
I flushed my dns settings just to be sure that the problem wasn't on my side:
Code:
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /registerdns
netsh winsock reset
Now I don't know if there is more issues with the pages I didn't debug the page since using a proxy resolved the problem for me but I urge the admins to look at this problem bot client and server side.
PS:I'm in Portugal

I've checked DNS, seems like all is working ok now: http://dns.squish.net/traverses/0b468a92af80738117500774a3a72e76
I don't know if this was just a temporary error on your end or what, can you check to see if this is still a problem?

Sorry for the late reply,
It seems that all is solved now, yes.
The only errors that I get now are these and they seem irrelevant.
It's weird because I saw the same problem a month or two before I made the post but now everything seems fixed.
Anyways thanks for looking into it.
So I got a custom rom, I was playing around with it seeing what works for me etc. Went into the security options and wanted to set up my fingerprint, but I went in to set up the pattern first. Set it up great, its the usual one I have used for over a year. Now, the option to make it invisible caught my eye and I wanted to see how it works. Well, it works nicely, no problem at all with it. But here I am now trying to recreate my pattern at random not knowing where to start ... I have a good photogenic memory BUT I also changed the dpi so now I would imagine its slightly off from where it would normally be.
So, my question being can I 'break in' to my own phone and bypass the pattern or can someone change their DPI to 440 and send a to-scale screenshoot of the pattern lock screen in the comments below.
Im not even mad this is ****ing funny and stupid, goddamn

Doubtful that you can break into your own phone without restoring it completely to stock. Attached is the pattern at 440dpi. Good luck.

My phone keeps asking me every time Bluetooth connects to my car if I would like to grant access to messages. Why is this not being remembered? How can I make this happen?

Try resetting BT in the car and phone and pair afresh. When it pairs, normally a dialogue box will appear on the phone asking to which apps access should be given. Enable messages and whatever else you need.

Thanks for the response. I've done this. I factory reset the phone (for other reasons) and repaired. No change.
Strange that message access isn't listed in the settings. When I select my car in my phone's Bluetooth settings:

Reg. the screen shot, did you try to scroll down and see if messages was there?
EDIT : for me message access comes after contact sharing. Since my dpi is 420, it is shown within the box without scrolling.

No, I don't have anything after contact sharing. It doesn't scroll past what is posted on the screen shot.
